    Another comment on this system... I found that NiMH 1.2V AA batteries (2800mAH) lasted through five whole evening rehearsals, while those same batteries didn't make it through 2 rehearsals in a GTD Audio (a competitor among the many-channel for theater systems). So the designers at Phenyx Pro are keeping rechargeables in mind from the outset.

    Glad I found your review. I've got a challenge in our church and the only real option for harmonizing many mics is a very expensive Shure system. Nice stuff, but you can tell they're very self-impressed, because it shows in the pricing structure. I saw the Phenyx Pro gear and wondered how good it could be. Now I'm convinced to give it a try. Thanks for the very comprehensive test!

    Very nice presentation it was definitely informative. I just purchased this same system for my church, and it seems to be working well. The question I have is that one of my hand held is a lot louder than the others, and it seems to be set up the same way. Your thoughts.

  • @DanielOblak

    I bought two of this (8-channel) system, but with the bodypacks (I do like the handhelds) for a theater group last year. We had 16 channels of reliable signal and I was 100+ feet away from the actors. Lots of 'knowing' people literally scolded me in FB forums for suggesting this to churches looking for a wireless system that they can reach financially. While 'you get what you pay for' is still (and will always be) true, the bar has definitely come up higher for those target users because the low-end is improving faster than the high-end can continue to climb.
    I do really like the advantage you talked about at the beginning... less wiring, less space in a rack, for my portable kit. This is now my new standard (even though I have lot of other single and two-channel systems in my crates).

      I've also been looking at these for a theater group. Did you use the mic wires that came with it, or did you get something different? Did you have any major hurdles to make it sound decent, or did it work like you'd expect it to?

    • @CreativeUnderground
      @CreativeUnderground  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Chris3460 Hi there. I’ve not had to do anything to the sound whatsoever - it’s sounds great straight out of the box. For conferences and other spoken word applications I’ll typically just add a low shelf filter but that’s really to reduce the risk of low frequency noises being amplified (handling noises etc.). As for the cables, for my application I purchased two 4 channel xlr male to xlr female cables to connect them to my mixer so that I can control each channel independently at the mixer. You could use the included cables and control the levels on the unit itself but I like to have complete control so as to use compression, EQ, gates, and FX. Good luck and hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

    Nice info. Question for you: Test in a controlled environment you know is one thing. Setting up and using in a populated area in different venues you don't know is another. Have you used it like that as you mentioned an event at the beginning? Also, has it held up well since you got it? Thanks!

    Very nicely done with the video. Also you could use the body packs with a guitar cable adapter and have 8 guitar wireless. If you're a guitarist like me and you have your main guitars and you need backups for 6 string 7 string and then acoustic. This is totally the way to go.

    • @CreativeUnderground
      @CreativeUnderground  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s a really great idea David!! I’m gonna go look for the adapter and try this out. Would be great to have everything all in one rack. Would be great if they could make a unit that integrates wireless IEM also!! Then it would truly be an all in one system!

      How has been your experience with the 6000/7000 using the 4pin miniXLR cable on the guitars? Do you need to crank up the gain on the Rx unit? Thank you.

    I have bene on hunt for a 8-mid system for weeks. Ordered the Debra Audio AU800 Pro and returned it because any use of more then 5 mics causes dropouts and lots of popping. Unusable. Then, I ordered two sets of the SIKUING 4 Channel systems as I red you could select different channels for all 8 mics. This does not work as the 2nd receiver will only see the first 4 mics. Returned these too. I will give this system a try. Thanks for the video

  • @ozeascarvalho7021
    @ozeascarvalho7021 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Thank you for your availability to make this video. It would be interesting to observe the operation of the system with the 8 microphones connected working together to see if it manages to work well under these conditions, without suffering from intermodulation and interference problems.
    An example of a practical application would be to use it in a church with the vocals of the worship group, with the church full, with the lighting system and the LED screen turned on. I say this because I have already carried out tests with systems from another brand made in China, in this price range, working in this condition, there were problems with interference and signal leaks. This leads me to conclude that very cheap wireless microphone systems automatically use electronic components in their circuits, of low quality and little efficiency in their functionality. Even with higher prices, Shure and Senheiser systems are more reliable because they use electronic components in their circuits of better quality, and consequently, more expensive.

    Today the PTU-6000 arrived to Finland. We opened the package and tested how the device works. We tested it with a normal speaking voice, and to our surprise, it sounded very good. Just a hint of bass gain, but not much. I didn't notice much difference to the SM58. We have a music group with eight singers, and in a week we will test this in real life. Then we'll see how this works in real action. :) I might put some video recording from testing with the singers...

    I have yet to find a system that allows for the use of 5-8 mics at one time without dropping and popping. Most of the 1-3 star reviews are related to this. I just bought and returned the Debra Audio AU800 Pro for this reason.

    Thank you so much. I'm sold, I just ordered one. but I have more challenges ahead. I have a home receiver (RCA) connected to 8 speakers AND I have laptop to broadcast to a zoom meeting.
    So, I need to split the mixer output (the 1/4") into two. One will go to the home receiver and one will go to the laptop 3.5mm port (TRS? or TRRS) ?
    Any advice ?

    • @CreativeUnderground
      @CreativeUnderground  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’d need to know more details about your specific use-case and setup but if the microphones are going into the laptop for Zoom, why not use the speaker output of the Laptop into the receiver using a stereo 3.5mm to RCA (left and right) cable? This will allow you to monitor the zoom meeting audio as well as the microphones. Ideally you would also have an audio mixer before the laptop, but if your use-case is simple you may get away without needing one. If your laptop only has a single TRRS port for both mic /line input and speaker output - the wiring gets a bit more complicated - you’d need to first split that TRRS into the speaker output and mic/ line input.

      @@CreativeUnderground Sorry about the ambiguity. I have a ball room, about 70 feet long, maybe for and 30 or 40 feet wide. It has 6 speakers connected to the standard home receiver. I will be teaching a class with maybe 50 people in attendance in the ball room. It would be nice if the attendees can hear me clearly. So the first priority is to take the signal from the wireless receiver to the sound system standard home receiver. In the absence of a mixer, I need to take the 6.35 MIX OUT to RCA on the standard home receiver AND to the 3.5 mm input on the laptop. The laptop will be running a Zoom meeting as host AND, it will be running power point presentation which will be displaced on a 72" TV via an HDMI cable. The Zoom meeting will share the TV screen so that the Zoom meeting attendees can also see the power point presentation.
      Here is actually a key question for you, if I may. I was looking at the 1/4" jack included in the unit (it arrived today) and I noticed that it has one ring only on it. Is this unbalanced output ? I'm thinking about splitting this into two. From the splitter, one cable will go to the RCA input on the home receiver, the other will go to the laptop 3.5 mm input.
      If I am not mistaken, windows can separate the devices (speaker output and mic/line input).
      Any thoughts please ?

  • @borg386

    I have the single mic system. It sounds great except for when you say any word that begins with a "T", it makes an annoying thumping sound.
    I don't know why people have trouble with 2.4 wireless microphones. I have 2 akg 2.4 wireless mics that I've used in multiple settings, and have never had a problem with interference. They have been rock solid reliable.
    And do those ugly looking rackmount brackets come off, or are you stuck with them?
    Thanks for the review, and also for any answers

      @CreativeUnderground  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi @borg386 - thanks for your comments. If you’ve never had a problem with 2.4g then you’re very lucky. Here in DC it’s a very congested frequency band and you can forget about using it without issue. As for the thumping sound, I’ve had no issue with this 8-channel system - it sounds pristine! I’d consider returning that single Chanel version under warranty - that doesn’t sound normal to me! all the best!

      hello. i have the PTU-7000, its the 4 antenna 4 mic unit. The only thing i like about them is that the distance you can walk from the receiver. Other than that the sound is like white bread and a slice of American cheese. I guess the price, $299 is obvious but I am satisfied because i use them for karaoke. But if i were in a band I would use the Shure Beta 58 or Beta 57's. They are clean sounding. Peace

    its in impractical demo as your not going to have people walking around your house wwith mics whilst recording for a double system sound setup or a music recording session. You would best have line of sight of the talent. And saying you have 6 sheets of gyprock is meaningless. What about the aircon ducting and electrical wiring. Where is the receiver positioned ? What antenna configuration is it? What is the internal RF distribution method ? These have more detrimental effects than sheet rock no matter how many layers. Review Score: 2/10

    • @CreativeUnderground
      @CreativeUnderground  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Fair comments and I appreciate your feedback. To give you more info on our building - on top of the multiple layers of sheet rock in the studio walls and ceiling studio there is miles of Ethernet wiring, a very large amount of electrical Romex, double-walled MDF HVAC boxes that are lined with aluminum, and ductwork in about 50% of the joist cavities that aren’t taken up by HVAC boxes. The wireless receiver stayed with me in the control room and used the 4 stick antenna’s. My situation is very unique I’ll admit but having tested other wireless gear I can say that I was very impressed with how this mic set performed having moved through multiple rooms in the studio and then up two more stories. I wasn’t really testing for line of site for use in my studio as I already new it could handle that without breaking a sweat, this was more to push it to its’ limits. I think your comments are valid though and if I did it again I think I’d prefer more detail on the construction as well as perhaps add a map / model showing the house layout and distance from the receiver. Thanks for taking the time to comment Adrian.
