    Hi friends,
    Happy to communicate with you all through one more dishwasher video. Proud to share that with this video I complete 16 videos in the dishwasher videos playlist in my channel.
    The first long video FULL DEMO OF BOSCH DISHWASHER SMS40M52EU being my first ever video uploaded on September 15 2014, has not been included in the playlist as it was reduced in length and subsequently uploaded as DETAILED DEMO OF BOSCH DISHWASHER FOR INDIAN UTENSILS (DEMO #1). If I include that it would be 17 videos.
    This video is made to clarify the doubts regarding setting of salt and rinse aid consumption in the dishwasher.
    1. To ensure good washing results, the dishwasher requires soft water, otherwise there will be lime scale formation on the washed utensils in the form of white film or stains.
    Tap water above 9 deg Clarke or 1.2 mmol/L must be softened. It can be softened with salt in the water softening system of the dishwasher. The setting and therefore the amount of salt required depends on the degree of hardness of your tap water. The hardness table and corresponding salt setting is shown and explained in the video. Hardness can be set from H00 to H07.
    So, it is important to get your water hardness tested before buying a dishwasher, preferably in a lab. In case you get your hardness results in units other than the above, you could click on the link below to convert into the desired unit.
    www.cactus2000.de/uk/unit/mas...
    If combined detergents with salt (tablets) are used, salt can be omitted upto a water hardness of 260 Clarke, in which case you can set salt setting to H00. Salt is required for higher water hardness level.
    2. To ensure stain-free utensils, you require rinse aid, otherwise there will be water droplets/stain on the washed utensils. In case rinse aid is more there will be streaks on the dishes. So, the correct rinse aid setting is very important.
    The amount of rinse aid can be set from r00 to r06.
    Streaks or stain formation depends on the water hardness. Rinse aid setting is thus indirectly dependent on water hardness. You can lower setting if you get streaks and increase setting if you get water stains. You can arrive at the correct rinse aid setting by trial and error once you know your water hardness as there is no ready table available for rinse aid setting.
    If combined detergents with rinse aid (tablets) are used, rinse aid can be omitted upto a water hardness of 26 deg Clarke, in which case you can set rinse aid setting to r00. Rinse aid is required for higher water hardness level.
    This video and all related details are for my BOSCH dishwasher. In case you have a different brand please check your manual.
    Since I have spoken in detail, the video is long, running almost 10 minutes. People facing this problem, request please watch till the end so that you benefit out of it.
    Hope you find the video helpful.

      @@BhuvanaAdi thank you very much for the playlist link... i have watched few (detergent comparisons) and ill keep on watching rest in future.
      Though i also have couple of queries as I am planning to buy a Bosch dishwasher (from Amazon) but so far there is no plumbing or electricity arrangements yet in my kitchen. So is it better to have Dishwasher machine first at home and then having the arrangements as per that or vice versa... I am kind of confused about it.
      2nd query - as you have few DIY ways to make a dishwasher detergent will that in any way effects the warranty of the product ?
      thats all for now.. and i might come back with more of my doubts until i buy and learn to use it decently (if not pro like you)
      Thanks in advance and sorry for long msg...

    Your videos related to dishwasher is a boon to any new dishwasher owner. I just got a new dishwasher - elica free standing model. Reason for going for this model was their technical support helped me decide whether I could buy a dishwasher or not. I stay in a rented flat and didn't want to drill holes or get plumbing work that could get the owner's disapproval. Unfortunately when the machine arrived only the installation guy came as the demo guy was out of town. So with the help of instructions over mobile, the method of using and which detergent to use were told. So eventually I had to place all the utensils. Luckily I have been following all your videos and put some of that knowledge to use. So a big thank you from my heart. ❤️ Also the installation guy did not do any water hardness test and the demo guy told me over phone to let the machine be at default settings. I live in Navi Mumbai and I believe the water is soft. So far I am getting fine results with the factory settings. However do you think that it would be better to get the water hardness checked. Also the demo guy suggested to use either finish or fortune. Currently I am using finish detergent, salt and rinse aid.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sreelakshmi, first of all congrats on your purchase and welcome to the bandwagon of dishwasher users!!
      Thank you for your appreciation. Glad that my videos were of help to you.
      I'm aware of the corporation water in Mumbai, it is very soft. But in Navi Mumbai, do you get corporation water or bore well water? If it's bore well water that you're using for dishwasher, then it's better to get the water tested for hardness in a nearby lab testing food and water. This will give you the correct picture of the hardness and the settings for salt and rinse aid that will be required in effect.
      In any case for Mumbai water, factory setting is way too high as they are almost close to maximum like level 5/6 in most machines.
      Initially all dishwashers will work fine in factory settings, but after a week or 10 days is better if you start using the machine with the correct settings based on your water hardness.
      You can use Finish products, which will be effective for your water. Also the combination of detergent, salt and rinse aid is better than tablets for you.
      Once again thank you for sharing all this with me. Good luck for a great dish cleaning experience. 👍

    • @SreelakshmiPrabhakar
      @SreelakshmiPrabhakar 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BhuvanaAdi thank you. I have to check the hardness. I think it is corporation water. Default setting for hardness in my machine is H3. As it is I will be borrowing a tds machine from my mother. Thanks for the sound advice related to water hardness. I have used the 1 hour cycle twice today and I have got decent results with finish.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's good. In any case if you haven't yet watched the video on water hardness, please watch it on my channel to get a better idea on hardness.
      Btw, since it's corporation water, you can adjust both the settings to the minimum.

    • @SreelakshmiPrabhakar
      @SreelakshmiPrabhakar 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BhuvanaAdi thank you. This brings another question. If the hardness setting is minimum, then do I have to ever purchase salt ?

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Sreelakshmi Prabhakar that needs to be decided only after at least a month of wash trials and knowing how the resultant cleaning is in various cycles and temperatures, in different settings starting from the minimum (i.e. in case you've filled rinse aid and salt).
      Generally for very soft to medium soft water, when tablet is used, you can skip using salt and rinse aid as the tablet contains both to a certain extent.
      But while using detergent it is better if salt is used. Since your setting would be low, very little salt would be consumed. According to me using salt is good for the durability of the machine. Though I've read and heard that in the US, there are many brands which do not have salt compartment at all, as they use only tablets.
      This finally has to be individual choice, based on which gives best results. In any case, you can set the salt level to zero whenever you do not want to use it.
      Hope my answer clarifies your doubt and not confuses you.🙂

    Thank you Madam for all of your videos which gave me and my wife the confidence to buy dishwasher in this lockdown. 3 weeks back we decided and bought Siemens dishwasher as the LG dishwasher didn't have the cutlery tray. Our tap water TDS level was aroun 70 when i had checked it once last year and i believe it still not changed as we are still getting the Municipality supply. We have set the rinse aid level to 4 and Hardness level to 3 and using IFB detergent ,IFB rinse aid and IFB salt. The problem is even after using Intensive wash we are seeing a cloudy layer/coat left on some steel bowls and steel dishes. Also there is some unpleasant odour after the wash and and on utensils. When i rub such utensils under running tap water later, they get cleaned easily. This is NOT a white layer which many of the users here have reported. We are not sure if this cloudy layer is because of 1) excess detergent or 2) hardness setting or 3) poor quality of detergent or 4) poor performance of the dishwasher. Can you please help us figure out whats is wrong? Thank you

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      From the TDS indicated by you, it is clear you have soft water. For this, hardness setting can be zero. Try setting of zero for sometime, and if needed, set to 1. Also set rinse aid to just 1. And for the problem you are facing, you have answered them yourself.
      You can reduce the quantity of detergent for your water. Secondly change of hardness setting as above will give better results.
      Thirdly, for soft water, Finish detergent gives excellent results. My experience is that IFB detergent is not suited for soft water. If Finish is also not giving good result, you could try some other brand.
      Hopefully your problem should get resolved. Thanks.

      @@BhuvanaAdi First of all Madam I hope that you and people around you are safe . We saw the menace created by rains in Hyderabad on the news.
      I tried the following combinations after your suggestions
      Cycle 1 ) H1,R1, finish tablet ,Intensive mode: 98% out of loaded utensils were cleaned thoroughly. only 1 small tea pot had a small cloudy patch, 1 steel plate had little blue stains . Then we thought of doing the next run with H0 as following
      Cycle 2 ) H0,R1, finish tablet ,Intensive mode: 80% out of the utensils that were loaded were cleaned thoroughly. Others had little cloudy patches therefore decided to set salt back to level H1 in the next cycle as following
      Cycle 3) H1,R1, IFB detgt. 20 ml ,Intensive mode: Only 70 % out of the utensils that were loaded were cleaned thoroughly. Observed detergent spots left on them and also found water stains with little unpleasant odor.
      Your suggestion of lowering the salt and rinse aid settings H1,R1 gave us better results with Finish tablets as compared to our previous runs with Finish tablets,
      but with IFB detergent even after reducing the detergent quantity and H1 R1 settings were not good. Therefore we decided to try with newly ordered Bosch detergent. following are the results from couple of runs
      Cycle 4) H1,R1, Bosch detgt. 20 ml ,Auto mode: 98% out of the utensils loaded were cleaned thoroughly, no unpleasant odour. But since around 50% of the utensils were from the previously failed run ( cycle 3 above) we thought of testing one more cycle before writing back to you. Also we thought we could increase the rinse level by 1.
      Cycle 5) H1,R2, Bosch detgt. 20 ml ,Intensive mode: 99% out of the utensils loaded were cleaned thoroughly, no unpleasant odour. Wish there was a rinse aid level settng of 1.5 that would have been perfect :).
      Conclusion: Based on the above cycles we believe that as you suggested IFB detergent is not giving good results with soft water ( TDS 73 ).
      Lowering of salt and rinse aid settings definitely helped when compared the results with finish tablet runs.
      Bosch detergent is giving us the best results ( at par with Finish tablets or even may be slightly better).
      I will keep testing the Bosch detergent and Crystale tablets further and share the results with you.

      @@adult25 thanks for the elaborate update. Very much appreciate your efforts and sharing it here.
      This is how one is expected to try out various combinations of salt and rinse aid levels with different program cycles. I usually follow this method and note down the readings with all the inputs(detergent/tablet used, cycle chosen, type of utensils etc.) and rate the cleaning by percentage as you have done. And this elaborate research is what enables me to come out with correct results about each detergent and tablet brand for my machine. People have been asking me about Bosch and few other detergent brands which I have to try and give my results. I am in the process and shall do so soon.
      Just one suggestion. Try out how Finish detergent works for you. I think for your water hardness[rather softness :)), I must say], you can use detergents and still get very good results as you yourself have mentioned.
      Thanks once again for sharing your valuable experience.

      Have you set the salt and rinse aid as per your water hardness. If not please do so.
      In this case of could be that your rinse aid setting is high. More rinse aid causes soapiness on dishes.

    Hi Ma'am, thanks for uploading such videos.. its so helpful.. appreciate ur sincere effort to help others with their doubts in comments.. generally no TH-camr will reply to as many queries as u do...that's the one thing that make u stand out Ma'am..
    We purchased bosch dishwasher same as ur model few months back.. but after it finishes cleaning.. when I handle vessels with wet hands, tiny soap suds can be seen at the place where I touch them.. then when I wash under tap , I can feel difference.. like as though invisible thin layer of soap not properly washed off.. currently my setting is h1 and r1.. water inlet is connected to drinking ro water , so it's very soft.. I was using finish tablet.. felt its too soapy, using finish detergent now, slightly better than tablet.. currently for full load I fill little less than the mark given for half load .. results are marginally better when I use intense plus vario mode.. I don't know where I'm going wrong.. bosch engineer also don't know whats the issue.. he says if u want final option we can replace or refund ur money.. am perplexed as to what to do. Have u heard of such problem from anyone else? Hoping u have a solution Ma'am!!

      Hi Meena, thanks for the appreciation. don't know for some reason your comment had gone into spam folder. Just saw it today. You seem to doing everything right including the trial and errors.
      The problem of soapiness is due to the extreme soft water (RO water) which you have connected. Please note than you can keep both the settings at 0, ie. H0 and r0. And use the right amount of detergent, as less as possible. If you are still getting soapiness, reduce the detergent quantity still. Avoid using tablet for your soft water. You will soon arrive at the right amount of detergent which does not cause soapiness. Use Eco vario mode, which I am sure will give you good cleaning results.

    Hi Bhuvana, Thanks once again for all your informative videos.
    With your salt & rinse aid setting set to 1, how long does your salt & rinse aid last assuming that you do one load daily in eco or quick mode? Do you get good shine with rinse aid set to 1 when used with finish detergent ? Since I hv very soft corporation water in Mumbai, I have set salt to1 & rinse aid to 2. I always rinse & soak the vessels in water until loaded. At times, in eco or quick mode with Finish detergent, I get dry white patch in the centre of the kadai which goes away simply by v. light scrubbing with a wet scrubber. What could it be?

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi J. S., I cannot exactly tell this as I use different cycles and also at times adjust setting to 0 based on whether I use detergent or tablet. This is also because I keep experimenting a lot with various detergents, tablets, cycles etc.
      But from my part experience I think that, for salt setting of H01, the salt lasts for at least 2 months. This also depends on how much salt i refill.
      I get almost 90- 95% or sometimes even 100% cleaning results with the same settings depending on the degree of soiled dishes and the programme I've selected based on that.
      I'm very well aware how soft Bombay water is. But there is lot of chlorine content in the water there.
      Actually you can keep rinse aid to r01 instead of r02.
      The patch could be the effect of s combination of detergent and the temperature of the programme cycle and the usage(time duration and temperature it was used for cooking) of the kadai or other utensil. We use cookers and kadais for more duration and hence you find these white lime scale like patches in these utensils, but they get cleaned when you lightly scrub under running water.
      This is the explanation/reason I can give based on my experience and knowledge.
      Hope you find my answers convincing and also helpful.
      Sorry for the delayed reply.
      Thank you.

      Hi Abhishek, thanks.
      I would suggest you get your water tested from a water/food testing lab for hardness(magnesium and calcium). Once you know the correct hardness it can be decided whether dishwasher is suitable or not for your water.

    Mam, now this time I had set the hardness 1 and r 2. I stay in goa. Here water is very soft. But same result I got as I got for h2 n r5. Some soapy drops are remaining on each utensil. What must be problem. How much detergent I should use. I am using fortune detergent and salt mam n finish rinse aid which I got free with dishwasher. I got dishwasher recently . Earlier I used ifb tablets with factory settings for 3 days. Result was very good with no problems.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Padmaja, sorry that you are still not successful in getting good results. Since you are a new dishwasher user, it will take some time to understand which program works out for you, which detergent gives best results based on different salt and rinse aid levels etc. Also much depends on how and where you stack the dishes and the degree of soiling. Also based on the amount of soiling you have to select the correct program cycle and use the right amount of detergent for that. If all these are properly synced there is nothing to stop you from getting 90-95% cleaning results.
      Please try out various combinations.
      For you above problem, set both your salt and rinse aid levels to 01 as your water is soft. Reduce the quantity of detergent or choose a longer program for the type of dishes you loaded.
      Btw can you share your dishwasher model?
      Hope my answer helps you.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nidhi, thank you very much. Please note that the salt settings are to be made based on your water hardness. Hope the IFB person did accordingly. Rinse aid setting is arrived by trial and error as it is not directly related to water hardness. Start with a rinse aid setting based on water hardness and then observe for 10 - 12 cycles before increasing or decreasing depending on the outcome. Once you arrive at the correct rinse aid setting, your results will improve. Stains/streaks/soapiness will all come down or vanish.
      Secondly I wish to share based on the feedback received and also based on my own usage that IFB detergent does not work well for many people.
      You could watch my video on detergent comparison - th-cam.com/video/gro6j1EPWSo/w-d-xo.html
      This video is more than 3 years old. Some brands like Fortune has improved since then and more brands are also available, so I shall soon be posting another detergent comparision video. Please look out for the same in my channel.
      I have posted over 50 videos on dishwashers alone in my channel. Watching some of these videos will help you in getting better cleaning from your dishwasher.
      So in your case, I would request you to try some other brand detergent - either Finish (if your water is on the softer side) or Fortune ( if the water is on the harder side) and see the results. Salt and rinse aid brand usually does not matter so you could use the same IFB salt and rinse aid till the packs finish before changing to some other brand if you feel. Using correct quantity of detergent based on the program chosen and the level of soiling of dishes also impacts cleaning. Keep note of the cleaning results based on detergent brand/quantity and also rinse aid setting and over a period of one or two months you would have made progress and arrived at the correct combination. Good luck.
      Once you reach a satisfactory level, you could share the results and some details of how you arrived at it in the comments. I am sure it will help a lot of other viewers. Feel free to write to me in case you have any difficulty. Thanks.

      @BhuvanaAdi  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi manju lata, Whether we use tablet or detergent, amount of salt and rinse aid consumed depends on their setting in the machine. If you are going to use tablet permanently, then it is mentioned in user manual that we can choose to set salt and rinse aid setting to zero so that no salt and rinse aid is consumed. To the best of my knowledge, the machine does not sense whether we are using tablet or detergent. Also please remember that the salt and rinse aid quantity in the tablet is sufficient only till certain water hardness. Beyond that, we have to maintain sufficient salt setting even while using tablet. Hope this clarifies. Thanks.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for the delayed reply Lavanya. Quality of washing much depends on the water hardness. Generally this kind of white spots and films on washed dishes is due to hard water. I've never faced this problem as the water in our locality is very soft.
      Which is the detergent you're using? People with hard water have cleaning issues with Finish detergent. I think Fortune detergent or tablet is more suited for hard water. Also like Atulji has said, even Yashoda had shared the same thing with me that adding lemon salt or vinegar at rinse cycle is a solution to this problem. This is what she shared : She runs the eco mode with only detergent (around 15-20 ml). When the cycle comes to rinse mode (unfortunately BOSCH machines have no indication about which stage the cycle is in, so you wait for the machine to pump the washed water out and to take in water again and run), open the machine and add lemon salt (around 10 ml) and close. This will make the dishes very clear without any stains and film.
      Another thing you could try is just run the quick cycle with the white stained dishes, adding just a teaspoon of lemon salt or vinegar in the detergent compartment. This will clear all the white film/coating from those dishes.
      Please try this and share your experiences. Hope this answer helps.
      Thank you.

      @BhuvanaAdi  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Daydreamer Day, thank you for your query.
      I am sure you are using a washing machine. Is it a front loading machine? Do you have any lime scale formation in the detergent compartment, spray nozzle above the detergent compartment, inside of the door etc. and do you descale regularly?
      If you have scale formation inside your washing machine then there is every chance that it can happen in your dish washer also.
      Anyway if possible I would suggest you to get your water hardness (dissolved calcium and magnesium salts) checked in a lab. That will help me guide you about proper salt and rinse aid setting.
      Roughly converting yourTDS to water hardness, the hardness comes to the 40 deg Clarke as per my manual. For this the salt setting has to be at the maximum level i.e. 07 and rinse aid can be kept at 05 or 06. Based on the result you get you can increase or decrease the rinse aid setting.

      Rinse aid helps in drying of vessels.
      Also you've not mentioned in which cycle you are experiencing this.
      Try to you longer program cycle, for complete drying.
      Also you can use extra dry option.

      Hi Megha, I don't know when you're opening the dishwasher after the wash cycle is completed. It is better you just open it slightly after the end of the cycle and open the machine fully only after 15-20 minutes, by which time all the vessels would be totally dry.
      Also since short program does not have drying, you will see water droplets in the vessels, if you run that cycle. But those vessels will also dry after some time. Plastics usually have water droplets on them.
      Please let me know if you're finding water droplets in all the program cycles. Then may be you have to add rinse aid and set the level based on your water hardness. Kaveri water being soft you can set the rinse aid level to minimum if at all you decide to fill it. Because sometimes combined detergents like the tablets will not have enough rinse aid required for drying.
      Hope my answer helps.

      Hi mouli, the problem mentioned by you is due to hard water. You can try intensive wash + excess dry program or quick + excess dry program. If you still get white film, add 1 tsp citric acid along with detergent/tablet in the same compartment. That should still give you better results. Please let me know whether it solves your problem. Bhuvana garu my bosch dishwasher purchased in 2018, heating element failed 10 days back and technician replaced it with new one.I generally use cascade platinum tablets purchased in USA and for so...long may be 2 to 3 years i
    Guess my salt sensor stopped working and i though may be as i am using cascade platinum tablets which has salt and rinseaid dishwasher is not displaying the salt indicator.for so long not using salt regularly inspite of that dishes used to come pretty clean and even my insides of dishwasher have white scaling very little,and my TDS is 950 when he checked 10 days back.when i told about salt indicator not showing up techinician told sensor failed and replced it a week back.
    My question is
    1.does heating element failed as i didnt put salt in dishwasher for very long,and when i asked technician about same he said there is no connection between salt and heating element,what do you think?
    2.with very high TDS 950 how come my dishes are coming pretty clean without noticeble hard water stains ,and my insides of dishwasher also show very little white scaling,eventhough i didnt use salt for so long,but my cascade platinum tablet has salt,rinseaid in it.?

      Sorry for the delayed reply. I thought I had replied to this query.
      1. I don't think there is a connection between heating element failure and non filling of salt. Check your electricals for voltage fluctuation or loose connections. That could be a reason for heating element failure.
      2. You are going by TDS, but your water hardness figure must be low or within limits, and also you are using tablets which have softening agent like salt and other chemicals, hence you are getting good cleaning.
      Thanks.

      @BhuvanaAdi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Indu, thanks for the query. I have answered this query in details (cost of consumables and power per month) in my FAQ videos in my channel. Please check the dishwasher videos playlist -
      th-cam.com/video/cAPJ-0r_SlU/w-d-xo.html
      Detergent consumption depends on a lot of factors like the quality of water, amount of soiling of dishes, no of programs used per month and whether long or short cycle is used. It also depends on the brand of detergent.
      For my water quality, no of cycles per month and my dishes, I have roughly estimated that the cost of detergent, rinse aid and salt per month is approximately ₹160 to 180. This estimate was done about 3 to 4 years back. For this I have assumed one cycle every day of the month. So total 30 cycles (mix of short and long cycles per month).
      This just gives you an idea. Your consumption could be either more or less.
      No, you cannot use normal detergent like Vim. Normal detergents produce lot of lather/foam (which is also referred to as sud). This can fill the entire chamber, block the spray nozzles and start leaking through the door gaps, etc. Dishwasher detergents produce low sud.
      I cannot comment on BPL dishwasher as I have not seen it or used it. You could check for user/buyer reviews online before deciding.
      Thank you.

      Hi Priya, your water being very hard I would recommend you to try using Bosch detergent with rinse aid and salt with salt at H05 or Bosch tablet with H02/03(you've to try at different levels based on cleaning results).
      Else you can try Vim tablet.
      Finish does not give excellent cleaning for hard water, except if you use Quantum max tablets.
      Please buy any of the above, try out for a few weeks in different cycles and find out which gives better cleaning results. You have to do a bit of trial and error.

Could you please suggest if there is any alternative for our issue.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi navuluri1, TDS of 670 is definitely on the higher side and is not very conducive to running a dishwasher and getting good results. A few options you could try -
      1) Try running more of quick/low temperature cycles as hard water issues increase with temperature. You have to adjust to what best cleaning you get.
      2) You could use citric acid along with detergent/tablet. This could reduce the level of white patches.
      3) Try to connect softener to the dishwasher. But remember that a water softener will require salt regularly for regeneration. There are lots available in the market and you have to do a good research before buying.
      This is a fairly good option in case you plan to keep the dishwasher.
      Thanks.

      Hi Renuka, dishwasher detergent and rinse aid are made of chemicals(cleaning agents) and are harmful if ingested. If proper care is taken such that no detergent residue is left on the dishes after the wash cycle, there will not be any health hazards.
      From your TDS, your salt setting should be adjusted to H06 for optimum cleaning results.

      Hi Sudha, thanks for your query. Sorry for the delayed reply.
      I don't think there should be any problem in keeping the dishwasher on the kitchen slab, provided it is wide enough. Because unlike washing machine which has rotating parts like the drum, dishwashers don't have any rotating part that could move it while in operation. Just make sure that you're able to access both the bottom and top racks comfortably.

    Hello mam, We recently bought Bosch dishwasher. First month it worked like a charm. Afterwards in our apartment we got water issues. Now daily we are having tankers. As tankers are coming daily, everyday tds is different. Due to daily change in tds I am taking tds measurement and then according to the table putting the settings.
    Despite of doing this I am facing white patch issues over the utensils. These white patches are not coming on every utensils, mostly on large bowls and specially the ones which I bought from IKEA( dishwasher safe)
    I tried tablet as well but not much results. Used finish tablets and detergent.
    Bosch engineer says as the tds changing frequently, settings to be in effect takes few wash cycle to happen ( not sure if this is true) and asking me to put the external water softener. I am confused now, as the TDS range is with in the max capacity of dishwasher machine. Till now it went max up to 555 TDS.
    Even though if I put external softener, tds of water will be same. Its not going to change, it's just water will be soft. With external water softener what settings I should do for dishwasher.
    I have tried almost everything from changing the settings to changing the detergent or tabs. Kindly help me understanding the solution. Is the external water softener is only solution to my specific issue.
    Kindly help me mam.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Deepender, sorry for the delay in replying. Sorry to hear about your issue. Bosch engineer is right that any change in settings takes some cycles to take effect. So it is not a good idea to keep changing the salt/rinse aid settings everyday or even every few days. You will not be able to find out whether the change in setting is working or not. Better is to ascertain the mid range of the hardness of water you get and fix the settings for that. And till your water stabilises to a uniform hardness/softness, avoid using programs with high temp wash or rinse; higher temperatures always pose problems with hard water, and with your water hardness changing almost everyday, it is not a good idea to use high temperature cycles unless absolutely necessary. Rather try using program like Eco, which despite a long duration one, uses optimum temperature and water to give very good results. Eco is the most energy efficient program which gives good results too for most dishes.
      Avoid changing detergent every now and then as different detergent brands give different results even for the same water hardness. Finish generally works better in soft water and Fortune works better in Hard water. You will need to do some trial and error under similar conditions on similar utensils to find out which detergent works best for you.
      Secondly, try to check the water sample tested in a lab (you can google for a food/water testing lab in your city) for Ca/Mg hardness. A water hardness check costs a few hundred rupees. Very often, TDS and water hardness are quite different and hence knowing water hardness is a good practice.
      You can then set the salt and rinse aid settings based on that. After adjusting salt and rinse aid setting, wait for at least 10 cycles to understand the change. Similarly while changing to new detergent. It is a good practice to keep a book and note down the results. Tuning the dishwasher settings to suit your water holds the key to getting good cleaning. As you learn this and master it, you will find great improvements in your cleaning. Good luck.

It is apparent that your water quality is good, so try reducing the quantity of detergent that you use. For shorter cycles, you do not need to use much detergent. If you are using tablet, use it only for longer cycles. You will need to steadily decrease the detergent quantity by trial and error and arrive at the correct quantity for the program chosen and the level of soiling. Thank you.

      You can watch my video on how to set rinse aid and salt level in LG dishwasher, by clicking the link below. Actually I will share the playlist of various demo videos on LG dishwasher here. You can watch them you haven't watched yet. Lot of your doubts will get cleared.
      LG Dishwasher DFB424FP: th-cam.com/play/PLvZ681nV6tYoWei5t-ZGBgsL7tBV1ymkX.html
      Once you've done your settings or you keep the default setting, it will not change just by filling/refilling salt or rinse aid. The settings have to be changed by you. Once set the level will remain the same unless you change it.
      You can fill rinse aid, anywhere between 50-100 ml at a time or fill till the top of the compartment.
      Hope I've cleared your doubts.

      Hi Tulasi Nag, thanks for your query. I can understand your concern. But hand held TDS meters do not give a correct picture of water hardness. It is better if you get your water tested for calcium and magnesium, in a food and water testing lab, in your locality.

    Hi mam,
    I am having a doubt like I just bought a LG dish washer while installing it a concern technical person came to my home and checked TDS in water it is 900, he told me to return the LG dishwasher back to company. So can you kindly suggest me on this because in our locality we will only get ground water but not municipal water. Any suggestions or remedies to this problem

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Krishna Kiran, If the water hardness at your place is indeed 900, I would not recommend a dishwasher. Most dishwashers work well till 600 ppm and they can be made to work with some effort till 900 ppm. Some people are using at 900 ppm. But this involves lot of compromise and is not recommended. Not only will the cleaning not satisfactory, but the cost of consumables will go up and scaling in the machine will also cause lot of problem. You could try the following -
      Try fitting a water softener and find out whether the water hardness is brought down to well within acceptable limit, say 400 ppm.
      Try to see whether you can get soft water/municipal water connection.
      Otherwise, I would suggest you do a rethink on the dishwasher.
      Thanks.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Water above 800 or 900 ppm becomes tricky for dishwashers as the hardness setting in the machine is usually there only upto this level. Still some people are using upto 1100 ppm and manage to get washing/cleaning. But at such high hardness levels, cleaning will not be as good as soft water, and consumables cost (mainly dishwasher salt consumption) will increase. Since Bosch has settings upto 900 ppm, you could consider going for Bosch. Thanks.

Normally if the water had been filled initially, only level of water will come down with salt consumption, that too not by much, the tank will not get empty. Hi Rachna, thanks for your query.
      Bombay water being very soft, you will face this problem in quick cycles even if you use very little detergent, because the rinse duration is minimal in this cycle.
      Another option is you can try not using rinse aid or setting it to level 0.
      Regarding your other query, to the best of my knowledge extra rinse does not dispense rinse aid.
      One more thing you could try is running other longer programs based on the degree of your soiled dishes, as longer programs have more rinsing time and you won't face this soapiness then.

      @@ketanmehta2756 hi, glad that your problem got rectified by the company without you having to pay anything. Yes the heating pump damage is due to hard water and water in your area seems to be very hard. You have to address this problem so that you don't face this issue again. Because if water is very hard, the spray nozzles get blocked and ther will be scale formation in other parts as well which will affect the functioning and performance of the machine. That is why regular descaling is required. Also since your water is very hard, yu should first keep salt level to maximum and also try other means to remove the limescale formation on the various internal components. If you have method of supplying soft water, not only would it be better for the machine but you will also get good cleaning.
      If you cannot get soft water, try doing descaling every week or depending on the level of scale formation.
      Or you could try this - Fill the detergent compartment with 2 tbsp of citric acid and run an empty cycle like auto. No plastic items like cutlery basket should be inside.
      Otherwise you can place 1/2 to 1 cup of white vinegar in the upper rack and run an auto scale. This will keep the lime scaling under control and help in smooth functioning and prevent any damage.
      To your question whether your running the machine without the heating pump can damage, logically it should not. Because only the water heating is affected, nothing else. But this is a point only the company can clarify.

      Hi Sangeeta, thanks for your query. Cleaning not only depends on good detergent but also on proper placement of the soiled dishes in the correct location. Also you should not keep too many vessels cluttered such that all of them don't get enough water spray.
      What did you do to get good cleaning results in your first two washes?
      Because there is no manual scrubbing inside the dw, it is normal to get little less cleaning in tea and milk utensils, with rings inside as you've mentioned. I've shown this at the end of my demo video of washing full steel using power ball. If you get little unclean dishes, the grease would have softened a bit in the wash. So you can wash only those few under running water, immediately after the wash cycle is over. But mostly you will always get 90-95% cleaning. The remaining 5-10% can be cleaned immediately.
      Increase your salt setting so that the white patches do not appear on some dishes.
      Hope I've made it clear to you.

      While it is true that it is difficult to operate the dishwasher if the water hardness is beyond a stipulated maximum level, I would be interested to know whether you have tried out the following :
      1. Checked the water hardness in your area (here I mean amount of Calcium & Magnesium salts present in water) . If not please get it done in a laboratory.
      2. Adjusted the salt setting to the maximum.
      3. Tried using tablet.
      4. Tried different detergent brands.
      5. Tried all other program cycles.
      If you have tried everything and still the result is the same, then you have to think of a water softening system.
      In the mean time I am on the lookout for a suitable solution to the hard water problem faced by many people. I will get back soon.
      Thank you.

      That depends on the salt setting in your dishwasher. Please see the manual page 20 where it shows how many cycles 1 kg salt lasts for different settings.

      Hi Chandu K. To start with I have to inform you that lemon salt is not needed for soft water. It is needed only if you are facing problem of white film or stain on the washed utensils, which is caused by hard water. Lemon salt is nothing but citric acid which is a chelating agent. It is used in removing build up of limescale deposits in machinery and equipment. This property helps in removing scales from washed dishes.
      One of my viewers Yasoda has shared her experience of using lemon salt which I am sharing with you.
      There are two ways of using it which she has tried and found effective.
      1) If there are lot of dishes, at the end of wash cycle and before start of rinse cycle (it is a bit difficult to ascertain - you have to hear sound of the water draining out and just when it starts to take water again) she stops the machine and adds 1 or 2 tsp lemon salt in the detergent compartment. And runs the remaining cycle.
      2) If there are only some dishes with white film/coating, she runs another small cycle with only those dishes and with lemon salt in the detergent compartment.
      You could try one or both of the above methods and find out which suits you and gets you the desired results. You may not get the perfect result the first time, you will need to do a bit of trial and error on the quantity of lemon salt and timing. Hope this helps.
      Thank you.
