Great video, very detailed💪 and even thow u don’t really think about it a belt driven power steering pump does take away power from your motor although it’s prolly only a couple horses they all count lol
i will be building an aluminum box with sound deadening that can be taken apart with bolts and heat deflection on that outside to keep the noise down. it needs to be able to be taken apart so that i can inspect and service the pump when necessary. i haven't seen it done yet so hopefully someone else gets the idea
No ps pully nope lines go straight to the steering rack no disadvantage but an advantage of less engine drag by having one less pulley for the motor to spin my car only has an alternator belt going to the crank and that is it water pump is Electric as well as the power steering therefore freeing up more horsepower add more engine bay space hope this helps
@@RIVIARACUSTOMS oh that is cool I didn’t know you can get a electric water pump I have a 1983 regal and cause of your vid I’m going with electric ps aswell, got it off the junk yard and also with the original ps pulley I heard you get clearance issues on the gearbox so didn’t want to deal with that.
@@lilskkrew yes sir its a moroso electric water pump for ls you will need to buy the braided line and AN fitting separate I believe in one of my videos you'll have to look through them I show the water pump it's basically a big block Chevy water pump but it comes with the adapter blocks to put onto an LS I barely ever had to turn my fans on and I made 600 horsepower in traffic
Do you happen to know the part number of those fittings you got from ICT? Im about to do this same exact thing on my 1970 Corvette. I don't have room for the power steering pump so i have to go with electric.
Does this need a power steering cooler? My car and truck both have power steering cooler under the radiator. Does the original Volvo that the power steering pump came out of require a power steering cooler? Does the power steering pump require CHF-11 or is it okay to run regular transmission fluid in it? Have you heard anything either way? How is the electric power steering pump holding up so far?
I’m having an issue with a 64 c10 build on an s10 frame and my ps pump pulley is directly on top of my steering box leaving me no room for the hose to plumb up and 1 have a few questions for you
Did you come across this issue. The higher pressure from the volvo pump vs the GM pump causes the seals to blow out from the gear box due to higher pressures? If so, how did you reduce the H.P? Fluid restrictions or electrical?
All g bodys are the same and eny place that makes hydrolic lines for like skidsteers bobcats and stuff can make it for you i have a local place that you prob dont have but try that
Is that pump 12v or 24v ? An have you measured the amp draw on it ? An if so how what was it ? This sounds like a better way to go than just swapping in an old manual sagina steering box an doing away with the pump but im thinking i may put a inline fuse just in case
OK just looked over my video and it tells you everything you need in there your low pressure line all I did was cut my stock line a little longer and flare it and then I just put A hose on it with a hose clap you do the same thing with the Volvo side it's just slip over now the high pressure line I show you in the video Go to a high pressure line place that makes high pressure lines and give them those measurements that you see on the hose ask them for an elbow as well to adapt to that And then I also show you the package from ICT billet you need to get those For g body and they will adapt to the elbows that the high pressure line shop will give you And it will be the same for the other end to the pump if none of this makes sense let me know
Thank you so much for this. I recently installed a Big Block in my Monte. I wasn't sure what I was going to do and I kept thinking that there had to be electric option somehow. Not to mention I was either going to have to order a 70s Chevelle bbc lwp ps brackets and or March performance mid bracket not knowing if either option was going to work and believe it or not this electric option was the least expensive way to go. 45 dollars at the local salvage yard and about ten min worth of time. My only question is what fluid are you using the volvo recommend or gm power steering fluid also how many miles have you drove with this and have you had any issues? Thank you so much again for taking the time to post a video especially for a G body.
I just run atf tranny fluid and havent had a problem yet works great so glad i could help thanks for watchin tell your freinds to sub only a bit more to get to 1000 subs and i can live stream these installs
You’re not rambling on, your video is well made and very informative. Thank you.
Thanks
Great video and very informative. I'm going to look into an electronic power steering pump for the el co
Ya it works great glade i did it
Thanks for the explanation!!! Huge help👍

Does this remove ps pulley and of course old pump if so is there any disadvantages of ps pulley being removed or issues ?

Are the 2 adapter are the same for the pompe and the stering box?? I got a g body you are missing un package
The video shows part numbers for what you need to make it work.
I am Looking to do this on my 95 G20 Sportvan. Still got a parts list by chance ?

Are you using volvo power steering oil or the regular gm??
Gm atf

No you don't need no cooler Pump works great regular atf fluid works
is motor medic power steering fluid okay for a 1985 monte carlo it has a stock power steering pump 305 sbc
Atf will work to not sure of what your refering too
@@RIVIARACUSTOMS fix my problem just needed to added some of that motor medic steering fluid to my pump and thats all it needed

No i have not mabye the seals were just old
Nice!! 👍🏾 So will the pressure line be the same 24 inches on a 1984 Monte Carlo ss. And did U have to call Volvo to get the line made?

As for how long you need will be based on were you put your pump mount the pump and then check how long of a line you need first

Its 12 volt and you will need at least a 160 amp alt
What kind of fluid u used
Its just atf
Good video 💯 are all 4 fittings the same? 2 from pump & 2 for the gear box? Im doing the exact same set up on my 85 Monte Carlo. Appreciate the video

Its about 11 inches top to bottom 4 inches round
I can check forsure later today
