    I was born and raised in south bay san diego and i remember seeing some filipinos growing up. I moved away for over 10 years and moved back to sd a few years ago and now i see a lot more of them especially when i go to costco. They're a fast growing population here. Love me some filipino menudo.

      My Ninang owned the store before your parents. It was called the DeFer shop back then. Short for Deguzman (my ninang) and Ferguson (the other owner - my ninang’s friend).

      Sounds creepy but it's true, I stopped letting the thoughts of impossibilities lead me. As a parent with kids and with busy schedules I had to figure out a way to spend time with my kids (going on vacations, exploring the city with them and guide them when they're about to make hard decisions) but was quite difficult cuz I was running out of cash. I had to dig deep and find solutions to my expenses, hearing about the stock & Crypto market I decided to give it a try / invest and someone referred me to Emmanuel Benson.. trusting him was almost impossible not until our deal of $16,800 was successful, I really do owe him alot.. Don't you think it's high time you spent time with your family and look for a way to cover your expenses as well??

    I lived in Mira Mesa from 1971 to December, 1978 when we moved out of CA. I lived there when there was nothing but a grocery store and a gas station. I was bused to school. I can’t believe how much it’s grown. I will need a map to find my old house.

    Growing up in the 70s in MM, there were a ton of Filipinos back then, then most moved away to bigger houses in PQ, or NC.
    id say maybe 2% left in MM. Really nothing like it was when most of the fathers were in the Navy at NAS Miramar

    Mira Mesa has changed a lot since the 80's and now. I grew up and lived there from 1986 to 2014 and I'm a Marauder class of 1998. The original Filipino bakery shop was Betsy's Bakery right on the corner of where Seafood City is now. Mira Mesa has today become more of a melting pot culturally with Filipinos, Indian's, Vietnamese, Mexicans and other cultures. Sayulitas is ok but honestly thier food is to salty for my liking and they go more for size factor on their dishes. Mira Mesa back in the days did not have the roads that connect you to PQ on Black Mountain Rd passing Lucky Seafood and also Camino Santa Fe didn't connect to Miramar Rd. 2 big reasons for the horrible traffic congestion that plagues Mira Mesa now.

    Thanks for the vid bro. I'm an american born filipino living in San Diego for the most part of my life. Went to Montgomery High (alot of Filipinos here in the day). Now working in the west side of Mira Mesa -- biotech area. I had no clue about these filipino eateries and businesses. I will definitely frequent these establishments . . especially during breakfast and lunch.

      @Jaycation  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ken! Nice, I played high school baseball versus Montgomery back in the day! It's great to support these filipino-owned businesses around town. I just discovered a filipino restaurant in Encinitas near the beach! I have to try that out. I appreciate the support!

    Lived in Mira Mesa from 1971 to 1977. Went to grade school at Hickman Elementary. Not sure it’s still there. Don’t remember many restaurants there except for the McDonalds on Mira Mesa Bl and the Jack in the Box further down the road, closer to the 15. In ‘75 or ‘76, the Vons shopping center at Camino Ruiz and Mira Mesa bl was built. I think there were a couple restaurants there. There might have been a pizza place by the Jack in the Box. Now that I started writing, I’m beginning to remember more. Ha ha ha. Could probably write several pages now but won’t. Lol . Spent most of my time playing in the open space and canyons. Easily entertained.

    As someone who has been living in Scripps for almost 27 years, I consider that to be an intermediary space between Mira Mesa and Scripps. When I was growing up, I always thought of it as part of Mira Mesa due to it being on Mira Mesa Blvd. I didn't realize it was technically considered Scripps Ranch until I got older.

      NC is Deep OG Filipino City. A lot of my friends moved to Mira Mesa when they 'made it big'. Some of the originals of what are now in Mira Mesa started in National City.
      How do I know? I was born in Chula Vista and raised in NC for 40 years! I was a regular customer at Tita's Kitchenette. My mom took kindergarten - 2nd Grade in Manila before WWII. She was almost in tears having Valerio's Pan De Sal for the first time in 50 years. Good memories . . .
