I remember several years ago, my dad and I went to a store and we saw a football game being played, and it took awhile before we realized that we were looking at a game on the Xbox 360, and my dad, especially coming from the days of Atari, was blown away by how realistic the graphics in these games are, that it was good enough to fool him that he was looking at an actual football game.
Out of all fighting games the Mortal Kombat and Tekken series improved a lot over the years. GTA and Metal Gear are hella good visually. Also the HITMAN games.
GTA San Andreas looked amazing at the time (you could see individual bricks on every building, not just the important ones!) and I can still play it today without graphics upgrades (although that is probably down tot nostalgia and the great story)
After watching the video, i realised how, stunning graphics and visuals divert our attention from the minute discrepancies in the game itself, as we are busy gushing over them and dont pay attention to other details.
Watching this I’m remembering games on pc like dragon age origins that you can adjust the graphic settings and the difference was just astounding between min/max settings. Seeing other games like that in a list would be really cool.
For me going from Tekken 3 to Tekken 7 is pretty intense. I remember being a kid loving Tekken 3 and and thinking that the graphics were SO good. Then Tekken Tag Tournament came out for the PS2 and blew my 12 year old mind.
I've never played Devil May Cry. That said It is amazing to see that every new installment to the series still retains the style, look and feel of the combat from the cameras perspective like it did in the original game. Can't say that for most franchises except for Doom and Tomb Raider, sticking to their respective roots by retaining the play style perspective w difference in the narrative directions w their Sequel's, Prequel's and Reboots.
It's truly amazing how far games have come in the last 20 years, even though we don't necessarily notice the little improvements every year however when you compare Then vs Now it really shows. Many of us take things like this for granted.

Games are relevant to their time. It's not 2017 anymore. It may be good now but does that change the fact there was a scummy pay to win system and plenty of people did buy into it feeding EAs greed? It was a game that gave you a ridiculous advantage for having the right characters.
Technically, FarCry in CryEngine by CryTek and Crysis in CryEngine 2 by CryTek are more of a sequel in the series than FarCry 2-5 by Ubisoft. Crysis still looks pretty decent for a 12 year old game. lul
Funny thing is they just released an official digital version of battlefront 1 on May 4th. Been having fun playing again, but it has fewer maps than my nostalgia glasses let me remember.

Shenmue on the DreamCast was one of the first games I played that was next generation after the PS1 era. That game was graphically the most amazing thing I had ever experienced in a game at that point.
People need to understand that there is a difference between old graphics and bad graphics. Just because the games of the past don’t look as detailed or as beautiful as the games of today does not mean that older games had bad graphics. It all depends on what technology they had at the time and those older games should be judged for what they were back then, not for they could have looked like today. For back then a lot of these games looked incredible. It just so happens that because of advancements in technology, games can look even more incredible, but that fact shouldn’t take any merit away from the games of the past. You have to judge something for what it is, not for what it could have been if it was made today.

The witcher franchise has one of the worst gameplay. 90% of the game is just cinematics and the combat, horse riding and running are the only gameplay.

AceTr00per132 Halo 5 cutscene graphics were trash mostly. It only looked good on some scenes because Microsoft rushed the game and 343 messed it up.

Isnt anyone going to talk about witcher compared to the witcher 3 wild hunt? I think that's not only a huge upgrade in graphics but also in gameplay, character, story telling...
The witcher franchise has one of the worst gameplay. 90% of the game is just cinematics and the combat, horse riding and running are the only gameplay.
Like the scene in Back to the Future...Marty uses a pistol on an arcade machine and the kid says "you mean you have to use your hands?"....I am waiting for the cranial interface joystick
