I was playing Titanfall 2 and we had 3 aimbotters in my lobby and when we called them out, they turned off their cheats and consistently got their asses whooped.
It’s stories like these that anger me when companies like EA try to say single player games are no longer relevant. Players like this are just infuriating and keep me from playing multiplayer games as much these days.
I wish most games had a single player component to them. That way I could enjoy a larger spread of games. It would seem that this would be desirable from the studios perspective as well. I do know that multi-player has a much steeper hill to climb vs single player. Another reason I would like to see more single person type games. Then the studios could actually be getting some money from their singles game while working on multi-player functionality.
@@leelitchfield8370 In that case I would recommend looking away from EA and just scroll trough steam a bit there is plenty of them and besides the mmo games that obviously shouldn't be tailored to single player experience you will find good hits in most genres.
I was banned from fallout 76 immediately after their accounts were hacked around Christmas right after the launch, my account was also hacked and they used it to run hacks on the game, I wrote an email to Bethesda, and they basically asked me to write them an essay about why hacking is bad which I politely declined and asked them to provide evidence that I had been hacking to which they reinstated my account. as I called them out on their terrible security leak and said that I'd paid 70 dollars to play a game that I couldn't even play because my details were leaked and my account hacked.

Depending on the type of cheating, instead of a hard ban just flag then internally as a cheater and then only let them play with other cheaters and randomly seeded autobots, so they dont notice. The purpose isn't just to punish them but also to prevent them from immediately making a new account.
I'd pay good money to watch those lobbies. Lobbies with only aimbots, definitely be a big hit. This NEEDS to happen. I actually stopped gaming about 5 years ago bc of the amount of cheating. It was like every lobby had them. Really hurts those that just want to play an honest game.
Sounds like a good solution to me. Keeps the mischief down by keeping them busy and out of the way of legitimate users. Also you could use that as an advertisement. You don't ban players just put them in a group of like minded players! Problem (mostly) solved!
as far as the punishment is concerned, they should only be able to play with other cheaters and bots, as you said, but the bots are set to the most impossible of hard mode difficulty settings. That way they know what it feels like to play against a cheater with a clearly unfair advantage. Perhaps after a long enough time of doing that, they will learn their lesson and not cheat if their accounts are reinstated.
YEARS ago, I out-snipped a guy in TF2, on the servers custom map. Turns out he was a moderator. I'm STILL banned for "Excessive Abuse of a Moderator", because my ban was set for over 12,000 years, rofl Excessive Abuse, indeed
Here's an idea: Instead of banning players for cheating, Have em isolated and play against each other on their own instance. Permanently. Without ever telling them. Cheater against cheaters. See how long it takes for em to discover they've been singled out and isolated.
Fall Guys did this for a while. Until they realized it’s just wasted sever space and money. Some other games have also done the same, but they all come to same conclusion.
I got accused of cheating one time. It was long ago and it was a text based game. Thing was, my roomie and I both played the same game, so shared the same ISP. The admins had a rule of one account only per player. Fortunately for all involved, we cleared it up through a video chat with the big boss person. :D

With 1,500 hours in tf2, having last been active on it a year or two ago, I can confirm I saw hackers weekly. It was still great it wasn’t more with the game being old and mostly abandoned by valve.

I used to play a lot of Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, and there was a glitch that allowed any weapon to deal the same amount of damage as the rocket launcher (basically a screen clearing weapon with very limited ammo and no way to refill it during a game). Players abusing that glitch were everywhere.
I was deployed overseas fighting an actual war. Someone had broken into my home knowing that I was deployed. stole all my belongings including my tower PC. Used my accounts on steam to play black ops call of duty 2 zombies. they used a program called cheat engine. As later reported by Activision. After I came home to find all my belongings stolen. I Made a police report & got a new computer to recovered all my accounts. At this point I find that my game was permanently banned by Activision. I even submitted the police report & my DD214 proving I was deployed to Activision and they still said no we will not remove the global ban. And Activision thank me for my service at the end of the call. That was the last time I ever bought a game from Activision or any game that was supported or sponsored by activation.....................Grrrrrr
I'm pretty sure that's everyone's stance (minus the multiplayer cheaters, of course), with the caveat that multiplayer cheating in private lobbys should be fine if everyone playing in that lobby agrees to it.
A friend of mine got a VaC ban on steam for playing blops1 zombies in a modded map he wasn't too happy about it because it was a private game with friends

I didn't get banned for cheating per se, but my old MW2 local group had a list of perks and items I *specifically* was not permitted to use, simply because my playstyle was literally a perfect counter to the rest of the groups'
There was one time I got banned from a game because the game bugged out and gave me a form of noclip flying, and this shortened what would have been a 4 minute stealth mission to 17 seconds. I never cheat, this was the game's fault.

Just the other day I was playing, and a guy was flying around with god mode on the MK II Oppressor, fucking with low levels and just generally being a dick. After I called him out on it, he actively targeted me and basically spent the rest of the time I was in the lobby pulling me out of passive (which I rarely use, other than for instances such as this) and killing me. I disconnected after a while and rejoined my buddy when the shithead left. Needless to say, I hate cheaters, but sometimes I wish I had mods and whatnot. Not to cheat at the game and ruin everyone else's experience, just to ruin an actual cheater's day.

Back in COD4 - aimbot players would drop into our regular server once in a while. Whole server would immediately switch to noob tubes and just mass grenades on them from around corners/no line of sight. It was a very effective solution.

@@cheems3046 I get the feeling you haven't played CS:GO before mate because if you had, you'd know about Sniper Jumpers and people who use Xray so your outline can be seen past walls and stuff. You can absolutely use hacks and the like in *any* server.
CMIIW, VAC only bans you from playing every single game that has the VAC system as the anti-cheat, but it don't disable trading. I could be wrong so you better check it for yourself
I got banned for some time multiple times, some of the bans were for cheating some were for different stuff but nothing of it was really correct (I mean once 1 server warned me and recommended me doing one thing which i wasnt doing but i just didnt join the server because i didnt agree with it and it wasnt anything really bad, like most server dont need you to do that)
Back in the early 2000s when the original Ghost Recon was released I was in a squad that laddered. For those that may not know if you were a server admin you could turn replays on and you could go back into those replays and watch every player. As what usually happens with a popular game the scumbags come out and start using cheats. There was a feature in the game where you could use mods in single player. Which meant that when watching a replay you were essentially watching a single-player game, at least according to the code and how the game operated. I'm not a coder, however I found that you could create a mod that would give you a tracer for every round fired. Now while the aim in the replay might be a little bit off, everything else was letter perfect as far as what actually happened in the game. Most of the people using cheats were using aimbot as well as an accuracy mod so there was no bullet spread. You could activate my mod in a replay and watch any player and see if they were using either of those cheats. As those of you who game know ping can affect what happens to you in a game. But after playing hundreds of hours live unless the person is real good at sparingly using a cheat, you can just kind of tell that something isn't right. So we would pull the replays off of our server and watch that player. Oftentimes I'd pull the replay right after the match ended because some of my guys would tell me over Roger Wilco (Google it, I'm old) what they thought they saw. We had laddered hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of hours not to mention playing every night on our server so we got pretty good at catching these people. Once we made sure that the software was correct I contacted the owners of the two ladders we were competing on and offered the software to their admins. It was awesome! People that were cheating in matches were banned and many of them actually admitted to it, apologized, and begged to be reinstated. Additionally, we had guys in other squads who were true code guys and they created an IP sniffer and logger that put the username and game as well as his IP into an Excel spreadsheet. We had an amazing database of entries and of ip ranges for people that played online. Things have changed since then but back in those days when you connected to the internet it was within a small IP range. We could also ban that range of IP's on our servers and often our servers were the most popular of all the pub servers. There were no Ubisoft sponsored servers, they were all private. This group from South America continually came into our servers to grief everyone, they would change their gamer name and so on and so forth. So there were 20 or so of the most popular North American servers that used the same ban list. All of our squad heads got together and decided this group from South America wasn't worth dealing with so we banned that whole continent. No one could connect from that country. Winning!
Imagine in the last match, beeing the player who's taking aimbot bullets just before the ban, and then seeing the stream. Your player character is laying on the ground bleeding, with a facial expression of bittersweet joy.
It's not really a trap. It can be perfectly justifiable and fun to cheat in SINGLE PLAYER games. For Single Player Games, why not as it doesn't effect anybody else and it's fun breaking the game every now and then. I mean anybody who played GTA 3, Vice City, or GTA San Andreas, who didn't use cheats at least once when they were bored. For MP games, not really. I don't even play PvP much anymore (which is true as I avoid PvP only games now). I'm just not very competitive.
cheating is subjective...i don't get why people find cheating a big issue in games nowadays...why all the salt around that? When i was growing up a majority of the games i played with my older brothers required cheats and/or walkthroughs to get through...but nowadays people think cheating is a crime and walkthroughs is bad tastes. classic retro adventure games had cheats for fun and you practically NEEDED walkthroughs to beat them. even some games today have optional cheats to make a game fun. i think the problem is when peopel hear the words "cheats" they automatically think you mean "the kind of cheating like online where you use it to be a dick" the same way everyone thinks online is hot sh$3 nowadays...when i hear the word cheating i think of those funny joke cheats that are harmless in games.
I remember a story from my oldest brother he told me once about Fortnite back then in Ch. 1 during a One Shot mode match: Him and one of our cousins were playing it (One Shot gives you low gravity with nothing but snipers as weapons, and this was when Spike Traps were still a thing). My brother and cousin were both sniped about half way across the map. They both were confused and watched the cheater after dying to see if they were using aimbot. Turns out that they were using one. When they went to go grab the guns off of where they died, my cousin had a spike trap set near it. So when they ran in, the cheater didn't see it and ran in, dying in the match cause of the trap
Well, if there are people recording their "real world" crimes there sure are people that record their crimes in games. The world is full of idiots. And they all seem to be surprised when caught.

The other players on his team obviously knew, even within the span of a couple matches there were several instances of extremely blatant aimlock, theres no way you play with someone that obvious for any extended period of time without noticing. To add to what the narrator said the entire team, who were sponsored by optic gaming, were dropped immediately.
When I was younger a friend of mine gave me a hack client or whatever for Minecraft and I had used it for Survival and had forgotten to take it off when joining one of the servers I played on. Hopped into a PVP thing and a few minutes later I was banned from the server.
The little notes sticking out from the sleeve at roughly 4:00 reminds me of high school geometry except our teacher actually LET US have a little index card with the equations on it during tests. His reasoning was having the equations wouldn't do us any good if we didn't know/understand how to use them, what to plug in where, etc. Pretty progressive for 2000 if you ask me, seeing as how Google wasn't in our pockets yet. Maybe it was because he had no idea what he was teaching as one of the football coaches and it being his first time teaching that specific class. He literally checked his teaching notes against my homework every day to make sure they were correct. 🤦♀️

Actually. cheaters need to have some skill to know how cheating/the game works. Lets say CS:GO. If the cheater was obviously a bad player. He wouldn't know that wallbangs exist. His movement would be shitty, but his aim would be perfect. Many good players out there like to cheat for fun. Lets say in HvH. so thats proof that this debate about "cheaters are bad at the game" is false.

I've played games with aim bot, wall hacks etc. Across various games...and gotten destroyed...until they either turn hacks off, or I find them a day or so later with them off. And without the hacks their performance level drops DRAMATICALLY. Not just me either, literally anyone you may ask who has encountered these same circumstances would have observed the same thing as I. People should actually try to get good at the game, instead of ruining it for everyone else

This video is great. I'd like to share a true story of what I experienced in the past. Some time ago, I kept on getting banned on Counter-Strike 1.6 servers with the claim that I am using an "Aimbot". The truth was, I wasn't actually playing with cheats. I was too good at flicking my mouse and knowing where to keep my aim. I even played while a friend of mine was over at my place, we took turns, if we died 3 times, the other player takes over. My friend wasn't very good at the game and died rather quickly, but when I took over, I began playing so good. Then, after 13 mins or so, I got banned for using an aimbot. My friend was literally watching the screen and could clearly see how I was playing. He was very impressed of how I was able to flick, headshot players and move my aim right back to the exact position where it was before doing the flick shot. Like... seriously dude. We were both laughing of course, but later, while playing on my own. It became a frustration and I gave up on playing the game ever since because now-o-days. Many moderators are basically kids. Like... 13-15 year old kids, and most of them simply ban you without giving you a chance to appeal an unban form with screenshots or anything to actually prove that you weren't cheating. Now that... is what I call, false and bs accusations based on assumptions or who knows... Maybe they were angry because I was better than them and perhaps most other players, and so... They ruin the fun of players that are actually very good at the game, especially when you're so good, that others assume you're using hacks. (I find it fun too when they think I'm a hacker. I laugh a lot)
Looking at other players screens on Goldeneye is the closest I've come to cheating - not because I don't break rules (I do), but because I don't want my enjoyment coming at the cost of everyone else's. Plus it feels grimy - cheaters are pathetic fall-downs. Every. Last. One.
Well, in truth. Best cheaters are ones that never break any rules. After all. If there is no rule against doing some action. That means it is not cheating. Though that kind of logic only works in professional sports. As let me tell you. There are some EPIC Cheaters out there that are in hall of fames. As they technically never cheated. So yeah.
@@W4rr4X Well, the issue with those 'cheaters' is that people lose their lives because being dosed up on drugs and enhancing their bodies beyond normal means. To the point that in ten years after even 'winning' a gold metal. End up dying due to a heart attack or some other medical issue. My version of "Epic Cheaters" are those who bend the rules by looking at the rule book. Finding out that there isn't a rule for...oh inflating a basketball in a full tank to trick inspectors that the tank is full and then deflate it, fill the tank even more and be able to run a race longer than anyone else. Or another way is to run a slightly bigger fuel line and run it longer. Able to add maybe 1 or 2 more gallon(s) of fuel. Even drive off in the car after the gas tank is removed. Though by technicality they did cheat but they could not be truly punished because at the time there was no rule against it. Though this is autosports or NASCAR to narrow the focus a bit. As for other sports. American League Baseball has a lot of cheaters and the funny thing is. It isn't because of steroids. Some cheaters used basic cheats of scruffing up the ball with a little bit of sandpaper, using way more pine tar on their bat and so many others. Though also the other kind of cheating that seems to always happen. Game-Fixing. Where either the league wants some team to win or officials who are illegally gambling on the game want their team to win. Just twist the rules and enforce normally uncalled penalties on one side or the other. And make it so much harder for one side to have a fair chance to win. And that kind of shit is why there can be fan riots or the league getting close to executing their own officials. Though that shit is harder to enforce or call cheating. When it is the very organization doing the cheating and they write the damn rules. Just like Politics. *rolls eyes*
Unfortunately cheaters do prosper in life. I do not agree with cheating in any way, but it happens in real life much more than ppl realize. Many rich ppl have gotten their money from cheating in one form or another. Perfect example is Trump

I never cheated online myself, but I did have an account banned by clicking on an unknown link. I never got that account back, despite never gaining any undue advantage over anyone.
If they're playing on PC it's a pretty common console command (cheat). You wouldn't want to spawn things into a multiplayer game obviously, but since the dev was trying to catch a cheater he gets to use cheats haha.

I got permabanned on Phantasy star 2a few hours after playing. Was d/ced. When I tried to log back in, I got an 816 ban. I disputed it, but they never told me what happened. Just that I violated the TOS. I asked what part, no response.
I'm a mod on a faction/raiding minecraft server, and one of our admins favorite tricks to catch xrayers is to simply paste a base underground near where the xrayers are, and if they dig down to it its a ban.
The struggle of the TF2 Sniper who knows what they are doing. It's pretty much impossible to go a match without someone angrily accusing you of hacking if you tend to get headshots. It's doesn't even have to be every shot. Even if around 1 in 3 shots is a bodyshot, they still accuse you of aimbot.

Playing BFBadCo2 when it launched was first time I saw onscreen messages from the server saying that a player was getting kicked out of the game for cheating - was pathetic how often people got kicked out. Usually for an aim assist
I was banned from Battlefront 2 (2018) for no reason. I was exclusively playing Co-Op and EA claimed I cheated, even though I don't even know how to, or even had any reason to since it was a PVE mode. I guess it's because I got 250+ kills with Palpatine and they didn't like that? No clue. Had to make a new EA account just to be able to play it again since I enjoyed playing it with friends, hence the Co-Op only gameplay.

I'd pay good money to watch those lobbies. Lobbies with only aimbots, definitely be a big hit. This NEEDS to happen. I actually stopped gaming about 5 years ago bc of the amount of cheating. It was like every lobby had them. Really hurts those that just want to play an honest game.

Sounds like a good solution to me. Keeps the mischief down by keeping them busy and out of the way of legitimate users. Also you could use that as an advertisement. You don't ban players just put them in a group of like minded players! Problem (mostly) solved!
as far as the punishment is concerned, they should only be able to play with other cheaters and bots, as you said, but the bots are set to the most impossible of hard mode difficulty settings. That way they know what it feels like to play against a cheater with a clearly unfair advantage. Perhaps after a long enough time of doing that, they will learn their lesson and not cheat if their accounts are reinstated.

With 1,500 hours in tf2, having last been active on it a year or two ago, I can confirm I saw hackers weekly. It was still great it wasn’t more with the game being old and mostly abandoned by valve.

I used to play a lot of Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, and there was a glitch that allowed any weapon to deal the same amount of damage as the rocket launcher (basically a screen clearing weapon with very limited ammo and no way to refill it during a game). Players abusing that glitch were everywhere.
I was deployed overseas fighting an actual war. Someone had broken into my home knowing that I was deployed. stole all my belongings including my tower PC. Used my accounts on steam to play black ops call of duty 2 zombies. they used a program called cheat engine. As later reported by Activision. After I came home to find all my belongings stolen. I Made a police report & got a new computer to recovered all my accounts. At this point I find that my game was permanently banned by Activision. I even submitted the police report & my DD214 proving I was deployed to Activision and they still said no we will not remove the global ban. And Activision thank me for my service at the end of the call. That was the last time I ever bought a game from Activision or any game that was supported or sponsored by activation.....................Grrrrrr

I didn't get banned for cheating per se, but my old MW2 local group had a list of perks and items I *specifically* was not permitted to use, simply because my playstyle was literally a perfect counter to the rest of the groups'
There was one time I got banned from a game because the game bugged out and gave me a form of noclip flying, and this shortened what would have been a 4 minute stealth mission to 17 seconds.

Just the other day I was playing, and a guy was flying around with god mode on the MK II Oppressor, fucking with low levels and just generally being a dick. After I called him out on it, he actively targeted me and basically spent the rest of the time I was in the lobby pulling me out of passive (which I rarely use, other than for instances such as this) and killing me. I disconnected after a while and rejoined my buddy when the shithead left. Needless to say, I hate cheaters, but sometimes I wish I had mods and whatnot. Not to cheat at the game and ruin everyone else's experience, just to ruin an actual cheater's day.

Back in COD4 - aimbot players would drop into our regular server once in a while. Whole server would immediately switch to noob tubes and just mass grenades on them from around corners/no line of sight.

I got banned for some time multiple times, some of the bans were for cheating some were for different stuff but nothing of it was really correct (I mean once 1 server warned me and recommended me doing one thing which i wasnt doing but i just didnt join the server because i didnt agree with it and it wasnt anything really bad, like most server dont need you to do that)

Back in the early 2000s when the original Ghost Recon was released I was in a squad that laddered. For those that may not know if you were a server admin you could turn replays on and you could go back into those replays and watch every player. As what usually happens with a popular game the scumbags come out and start using cheats. There was a feature in the game where you could use mods in single player. Which meant that when watching a replay you were essentially watching a single-player game, at least according to the code and how the game operated. I'm not a coder, however I found that you could create a mod that would give you a tracer for every round fired. Now while the aim in the replay might be a little bit off, everything else was letter perfect as far as what actually happened in the game. Most of the people using cheats were using aimbot as well as an accuracy mod so there was no bullet spread. You could activate my mod in a replay and watch any player and see if they were using either of those cheats. As those of you who game know ping can affect what happens to you in a game. But after playing hundreds of hours live unless the person is real good at sparingly using a cheat, you can just kind of tell that something isn't right. So we would pull the replays off of our server and watch that player. Oftentimes I'd pull the replay right after the match ended because some of my guys would tell me over Roger Wilco (Google it, I'm old) what they thought they saw. We had laddered hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of hours not to mention playing every night on our server so we got pretty good at catching these people. Once we made sure that the software was correct I contacted the owners of the two ladders we were competing on and offered the software to their admins. It was awesome! People that were cheating in matches were banned and many of them actually admitted to it, apologized, and begged to be reinstated. Additionally, we had guys in other squads who were true code guys and they created an IP sniffer and logger that put the username and game as well as his IP into an Excel spreadsheet. We had an amazing database of entries and of ip ranges for people that played online. Things have changed since then but back in those days when you connected to the internet it was within a small IP range. We could also ban that range of IP's on our servers and often our servers were the most popular of all the pub servers. There were no Ubisoft sponsored servers, they were all private. This group from South America continually came into our servers to grief everyone, they would change their gamer name and so on and so forth. So there were 20 or so of the most popular North American servers that used the same ban list. All of our squad heads got together and decided this group from South America wasn't worth dealing with so we banned that whole continent. No one could connect from that country. Winning!

It's not really a trap. It can be perfectly justifiable and fun to cheat in SINGLE PLAYER games.
For Single Player Games, why not as it doesn't effect anybody else and it's fun breaking the game every now and then. I mean anybody who played GTA 3, Vice City, or GTA San Andreas, who didn't use cheats at least once when they were bored.
For MP games, not really. I don't even play PvP much anymore (which is true as I avoid PvP only games now).

When i was growing up a majority of the games i played with my older brothers required cheats and/or walkthroughs to get through...but nowadays people think cheating is a crime and walkthroughs is bad tastes. classic retro adventure games had cheats for fun and you practically NEEDED walkthroughs to beat them. even some games today have optional cheats to make a game fun. i think the problem is when peopel hear the words "cheats" they automatically think you mean "the kind of cheating like online where you use it to be a dick" the same way everyone thinks online is hot sh$3 nowadays...when i hear the word cheating i think of those funny joke cheats that are harmless in games.

I remember a story from my oldest brother he told me once about Fortnite back then in Ch. 1 during a One Shot mode match:
Him and one of our cousins were playing it (One Shot gives you low gravity with nothing but snipers as weapons, and this was when Spike Traps were still a thing). My brother and cousin were both sniped about half way across the map. They both were confused and watched the cheater after dying to see if they were using aimbot. Turns out that they were using one. When they went to go grab the guns off of where they died, my cousin had a spike trap set near it. So when they ran in, the cheater didn't see it and ran in, dying in the match cause of the trap

The other players on his team obviously knew, even within the span of a couple matches there were several instances of extremely blatant aimlock, theres no way you play with someone that obvious for any extended period of time without noticing. To add to what the narrator said the entire team, who were sponsored by optic gaming, were dropped immediately.
When I was younger a friend of mine gave me a hack client or whatever for Minecraft and I had used it for Survival and had forgotten to take it off when joining one of the servers I played on. Hopped into a PVP thing and a few minutes later I was banned from the server.

His reasoning was having the equations wouldn't do us any good if we didn't know/understand how to use them, what to plug in where, etc. Pretty progressive for 2000 if you ask me, seeing as how Google wasn't in our pockets yet.

I've played games with aim bot, wall hacks etc. Across various games...and gotten destroyed...until they either turn hacks off, or I find them a day or so later with them off. Not just me either, literally anyone you may ask who has encountered these same circumstances would have observed the same thing as I.

Some time ago, I kept on getting banned on Counter-Strike 1.6 servers with the claim that I am using an "Aimbot".
The truth was, I wasn't actually playing with cheats. I was too good at flicking my mouse and knowing where to keep my aim.
I even played while a friend of mine was over at my place, we took turns, if we died 3 times, the other player takes over.
My friend wasn't very good at the game and died rather quickly, but when I took over, I began playing so good. Then, after 13 mins or so, I got banned for using an aimbot.
My friend was literally watching the screen and could clearly see how I was playing. He was very impressed of how I was able to flick, headshot players and move my aim right back to the exact position where it was before doing the flick shot. Like... seriously dude. We were both laughing of course, but later, while playing on my own. It became a frustration and I gave up on playing the game ever since because now-o-days. Many moderators are basically kids. Like... 13-15 year old kids, and most of them simply ban you without giving you a chance to appeal an unban form with screenshots or anything to actually prove that you weren't cheating.
Now that... is what I call, false and bs accusations based on assumptions or who knows... Maybe they were angry because I was better than them and perhaps most other players, and so... They ruin the fun of players that are actually very good at the game, especially when you're so good, that others assume you're using hacks. (I find it fun too when they think I'm a hacker. I laugh a lot)

My version of "Epic Cheaters" are those who bend the rules by looking at the rule book. Finding out that there isn't a rule for...oh inflating a basketball in a full tank to trick inspectors that the tank is full and then deflate it, fill the tank even more and be able to run a race longer than anyone else. Or another way is to run a slightly bigger fuel line and run it longer. Able to add maybe 1 or 2 more gallon(s) of fuel. Even drive off in the car after the gas tank is removed. Though by technicality they did cheat but they could not be truly punished because at the time there was no rule against it. Though this is autosports or NASCAR to narrow the focus a bit.
As for other sports. American League Baseball has a lot of cheaters and the funny thing is. It isn't because of steroids. Some cheaters used basic cheats of scruffing up the ball with a little bit of sandpaper, using way more pine tar on their bat and so many others.
Though also the other kind of cheating that seems to always happen. Game-Fixing. Where either the league wants some team to win or officials who are illegally gambling on the game want their team to win. Just twist the rules and enforce normally uncalled penalties on one side or the other. And make it so much harder for one side to have a fair chance to win. And that kind of shit is why there can be fan riots or the league getting close to executing their own officials. Though that shit is harder to enforce or call cheating. When it is the very organization doing the cheating and they write the damn rules. Just like Politics. *rolls eyes*
Unfortunately cheaters do prosper in life. I do not agree with cheating in any way, but it happens in real life much more than ppl realize. Many rich ppl have gotten their money from cheating in one form or another. Perfect example is Trump

I never cheated online myself, but I did have an account banned by clicking on an unknown link. I never got that account back, despite never gaining any undue advantage over anyone.

If they're playing on PC it's a pretty common console command (cheat). You wouldn't want to spawn things into a multiplayer game obviously, but since the dev was trying to catch a cheater he gets to use cheats haha.

I sometimes use cheats when playing with friends to fuck around, but never in random matches against people or tournaments...
I got permabanned on Phantasy star 2a few hours after playing. Was d/ced. When I tried to log back in, I got an 816 ban.
I disputed it, but they never told me what happened. Just that I violated the TOS. I asked what part, no response.

I'm a mod on a faction/raiding minecraft server, and one of our admins favorite tricks to catch xrayers is to simply paste a base underground near where the xrayers are, and if they dig down to it its a ban.
the only good cheater is the falsely accused one because you beat someone's ass to hard and they got salty.
The struggle of the TF2 Sniper who knows what they are doing. It's pretty much impossible to go a match without someone angrily accusing you of hacking if you tend to get headshots. It's doesn't even have to be every shot. Even if around 1 in 3 shots is a bodyshot, they still accuse you of aimbot.

Playing BFBadCo2 when it launched was first time I saw onscreen messages from the server saying that a player was getting kicked out of the game for cheating - was pathetic how often people got kicked out. Usually for an aim assist
I was banned from Battlefront 2 (2018) for no reason. I was exclusively playing Co-Op and EA claimed I cheated, even though I don't even know how to, or even had any reason to since it was a PVE mode. I guess it's because I got 250+ kills with Palpatine and they didn't like that? No clue. Had to make a new EA account just to be able to play it again since I enjoyed playing it with friends, hence the Co-Op only gameplay.
