    Update Friday June 17, 2022: CHP Officer Wes Haver is in serious, but stable condition after being shot several times by a suspect during an altercation at a traffic stop. The suspect fled the scene, but was later captured, still armed, by a LAPD bloodhound at a homeless encampment. Suspect's family said he was a former US Marine who suffered from PTSD. Suspect is being held on a $10 million bond. PTSD is NO excuse for trying to murder anyone.

      There's also no excuse of the lack of mental healthcare for veterans. Maybe just maybe if he and other veterans had this kind of access then he, most likely, wouldn't have the mindset to shoot the trooper and Michelle, when you have a loved one who served and came home with PTSD and they are denied access to mental health care then and only then will you understand. I say this because I have family who served and they are still fighting for proper health care. Tragic as this shooting was, I'm not blaming the guy, I blame a poorly run mental health system and people like you who don't give two rips about these people.

      He can't really help it if he's having a PTSD episode. He's not thinking clearly and has no control of his actions. It's the governments fault for not helping our veterans.

      Irregardless if he has PTSD he's still going to prison for attempted murder. maybe he can get the help he needs once he's incarcerated.

    The CHP needs to work out how to run an escort. The Dutch manage with three motorcycle cops leapfrogging each other, blocking intersections, and moving on. Very smooth. The Brits use a few more cars, but still have them in front of the ambulance, not trailing it. Australians are similar, a couple of cars ahead blocking intersections, then leapfrogging ahead of each other to the next intersection. I've also heard that they have traffic lights centrally controlled to give green lights all the way. But the US? Let's play posse.

    • @mitchellkemp7799
      @mitchellkemp7799 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes mate, you are correct, we call them "green light corridors" the main arterial road traffic lights can be controlled by TMC (Traffic Management Command). Usually done as a multi-agency operation. The green light corridors are only used for critically ill patients if police are involved.

    I’m a former EMT and currently in a LEO academy. Am I the only one that thinks it’s unprofessional for us to do this? If we don’t escort every single stat transport, then why is it okay for LE to give officers special treatment? It seems unfair and like we value the lives of first responders more than civilians.

    • @deshawnpeterkin8562
      @deshawnpeterkin8562 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s not unprofessional at all. It no different then how first responders have ceremonial burials in a LODD vs John Doe having a funeral . it’s a sign of respect and the least we can do is give one of ours a fighting chance to go home. We are the ones who put our life’s on the line for the safety of the general public.

      @@xPeopleKindx Then why would you become a first responder in the first place? If you don’t place the highest value on a civilian life with everything you do, then you shouldn’t be trusted with the responsibility of that job. And you definitely lose any moral high ground that you might’ve had as a responder. I’m no more valuable than a farmer or a teacher or a truck driver who all take their own risks for a job that’s valuable to society. That sort of us versus them mentality is exactly what leads to abuse of power, disrespect of the public, and ultimately the public losing respect for those servants.

    • @rileybudd531
      @rileybudd531 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@deshawnpeterkin8562 I see your point, but I think that’s very different. The funeral is a private ceremony that is not a service provided to the public by emergency agencies. And I honestly don’t think that we deserve anything better than anyone else. Every job has its own risks and rewards and is valuable to society in its own way. I don’t deserve anything better than a welder, a truck driver, or a farmer who are all invaluable members of society who put their lives on the line too. I really don’t like that holier than thou mentality. I think that leads to below quality service to the public and loses any sort of moral high ground that we might have in the first place.

    To say PTSD isn't an excuse is dumb. I bet if it wad a cop and he said it was due to PTSD, it would be let go.

      They do escort civilians. There's a video somewhere on TH-cam of them escorting an ambulance transporting a child

    It’s crazy how they can do this for a cop that’s been shot but when the police shoot someone and then don’t render aid it takes the ambulance an hour to get there

      Have you watched PoliceActivity? Like practically every time some thug gets dumped the cops get to work aiding the wounded. Like, essentially every time.
