They would do a lot better selling those apps and games if the requirements were a "VR headset", no matter the brand. That's my stance on it. I ended up getting Xreal Air 2 Pro instead of Meta Quest 3, they are way smaller and better profile, almost stealth. As I have HP Reverb 2 from before. But I wanted something more compact, stealthy and mobile.
4XVR without a doubt has been the best player for me. Especially for watching movies being streamed. Skybox is a second. But 4XVR just destroys everything. If they could add something like Bigscreen has I think it'd kill everything.
Moon VR Video Player can also play video files from a usb drive. And is cheaper than the one you mentioned. Plus skybox is bringing the ability to do it too in the future.
I do like watching movies in it but I kinda wish there was more of a method to create a crowd in some of these theatres. Feels weird being in a giant theatre that looks empty. None of the theatre apps have an NPC like feature.
I just tried 4XVR using a 4TB Sandisk SSD and it works great, with no buffering. I just wish I could move or resize the screen (like the Spatial TV app or Skybox VR)
Is there any work around to watching movies purchased through apple? Apple is my ecosystem with over 600 purchases, but no way to watch on the quest 3 i know of... thanks!
Can you watch youtube in mixed reality when using your phone? I want to have virtual apps up, like Spotify and youtube while watching the real world with only my phone. Is this possible? And what glasses are the best for this?
I'm always getting annoyed that the thing starts randomly tracking my hands and then sometimes even my head when I sit too still for a while. I wish there was a movie mode where only controller inputs are recognized without having to change it in the main settings.
Yes! Finally someone mentioned it. I have no idea why people aren't talking about it. How am I supposed to watch a video when the headset itself becomes a controller because I didn't move the actual controllers for a few minutes since I'm watching a video? The dot appears in the center of a screen and wakes up video player controls. It doesn't make sense. Is there an option to turn it off?
Most of these you enarlge the screen and zoom in to your face unless you use cinema mode. I think spactial Tv you can back up the screen and enlarge with no zoom effect but no stream from pc or usb. What else is out there?
I finally found a way to "local co op" the same desktop environment with mixed reality. Requires two pcs streaming to each headset with air link or virtual desktop. Then one of the desktops connects to the other with moonlight streaming. This seems to be the only method to get this working.
@RobertNicholson-kh2lk yeah that solution works well and was using this method before. What I like the method of the mixed reality desktop with a friend is that you get that feeling of being present with them as well as getting a customizable sceen to watch movies, youtube and gaming for that real couch co op feel. And you don't even need a TV. Plus you get to share the same sound system.
Which if any of these option can deliver multi channel surround sound using positional audio? I currently only use Virtual Desktop with my Index as it can do it. Big Screen doesn't which is a shame because some of the cinema environments look great.

4xvr with Stremio/Torrentio allows me to watch almost anything on the Quest natively at 4k and even 3D

If you are watching a movie together you can just put the video file on both Quests and watch the movie together in Bigscreen. Just no mixed reality
