In the summer before my sophomore year, I found myself on my phone, scrolling aimlessly. I'm not sure what I was searching for - likely nothing at all - but that's when I stumbled upon Preaching P, otherwise known as Pratik Vangal. He was a college acceptance consultant TH-camr. At this time in my life, my social network was at an all-time low. I had no friends, few knew of my existence, and my grades were slipping. But Prati changed all of that. See, his channel wasn't merely a collection of instructional videos, his channel had a blend of humor, wisdom, and relatibility, and he exuded the personality of a friend you've known for years. After binge watching all of his videos in one sitting, I became determined to turn my life around. I started taking APs in my sophomore year, striving for a 4.0 GPA, and signed up for my school's basketball team. In the following months, my life became drastically better. Although Pratik was the first TH-camr in the academic success niche that I watched, I started becoming more invested in the community. I started watching other TH-camrs, like Collin the Chad, Gohar Khan, and Amy Wang. Although online interactions may seem shallow, the reality is that they can be incredibly meaningful. Through these TH-cam channels, I connected with people all around the world, and we all helped each other succeed in our unique endeavors. It's comparable to that one parable about people with comically large spoons feeding each other. After countless months of studying, I felt that I had finally reached my academic peak in high school. Everything seemed perfect, and I was content with my life. Just as I was about to take the rest of my high school experience easy, I saw something deeply troubling. School had just ended, and I was walking back home. As I turned a corner, I heard a strange noise. When I went to investigate, I found its source: a freshman was curled up on the floor, sobbing his eyes out. I sat down next to him, and asked him what troubled him. The words that came out of his mouth are ones I will remember for the rest of my life. "My life is at rock bottom," he said in between sniffles. "My grades are atrocious. I have no friends. I have no chance of achieving everything I dreamed of when I was younger." His words struck a chord within me. I remembered the summer before sophomore year, and I was just like him. I remembered all the negativity I experienced, that feeling of dread and hopelessness. I never wanted another student to experience that again. That night, in a surge of emotion, I howled at the sky, a deep, primal rage boiling within me. The experience earlier that day had made memories of my past self resurface, and the pain that I'd felt. In my conniption, I grabbed a kitchen knife and took my anger out on the squirrels in my backyard. When I finally calmed down, what remained was a mess of blood, flesh, and fur. I went to bed that night with a deep feeling of guilt. Those squirrels didn't deserve that, but the experience was cathartic. I knew what I would devote my final years of high school to - helping students succeed academically. The next day, I started my nonprofit - a free tutoring program that would help struggling students keep their grades up. At the time of writing, my nonprofit has reached over 500,000 students in America, and I'm glad that I could help so many people. As I reached for my phone to watch the newest Preaching P video, I noticed something quite amusing. The man that had started my transformation from failing student to academic weapon was yet to receive my subscription. I laid back on my chair as I tapped that vivid red subscribe button. "Thanks... Pratik."

i have a question: why did you choose rpi bsmd if it’s med school is unranked and you definitely could apply for better medical schools in an undergrad with nicer opportunities to grow network, do research, volunteering, etc. Ik it’s guaranteed med school but why albany medical college for a qualified applicant like yourself.
Thank you so much for your amazing videos! I am starting my freshman year of high school in a few days. I would appreciate it if you could make a video about how to make the most of your freshman year to get into a top college. Thank you!
Hello, I’ve been struggling thinking about how to structure my essay and how to communicate who I really am. I went through a school shooting which impacted me and my friends due to them being victims of the incident however I don’t want that to be the main topic of my essay. Do you have any ideas or things I could do to get me out of this mind “block”?
Why don't you want to write about that? If it eventually ended up making you a better person, e.g. you came to a realization or you were sent down a depressing spiral but emerged stronger than you before, I don't see why it would be bad (unless it makes you feel uncomfortable).
Hey Preaching Boy, My question is this: Is it okay that I don't have focused extracurriculars? I want to do computer science in MIT, but my extra curriculars have a lot of non-stem related clubs and activities such as DECA, Model UN, and student council. The only Stem related stuff I have is: Starting a hackathon for my region (soon), a few basic python projects (snake, ping pong, and such) and the VP of my schools Robotics and Coding team/club. I am planning to publish a paper on something computer science related, but I noticed that even though your focus is computer science, your paper is focused on Neurology and such, is that good? is that okay? I would love to streamline more but I am already too involved as I will be becoming the president for Model UN and DECA next year as well as robotics and coding club. What do you recommend I do in my situation? I am also from Canada, and the region that I am in doesn't have any schools with AP courses. What do you recommend I do? Another thing is that I am averaging around 94% - 95% in grade 9 and 10 combined (I am a rising Grade 11), would you say that that is good enough to get into top colleges and universities? I will be doing the SAT sooner or later, hoping to get 1520+, so lets put the SAT aside, and just use my grades, because as far as my knowledge extends, anything above a 90 is an A and anything above a 97 or 96 is an A+ so if looked at from that perspective, I have a 4.0 GPA. So when I apply, (lets imagine I'm applying right now) would universities look at it as a 4.0 GPA or would they look at it as a 95% average? Thank you for taking the time to read through all of this! I hope you can get to answer my question! :)
