Congratulations! This college decision video is very underrated for me, because typically a lot of the others have the same concept of reacting (not saying I don’t like those videos). I am fresh out of high school but ended up going to CC because I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life (tuition is hella expensive as well so yeah...) . Anyway, recently, I have started diving into art, especially game development, and I realized that it was something I actually enjoy doing. I would love to hear more from you in that aspect, also really like your vibes lmao. This is like the only actual college reaction video that I sat down to watch and was like Damnnnnn. (no glazing)

( only done some 3D modelling during summer and RenPy Visual novels…). For instance, activities you’re planning or how you would make it interactive or join gamejams. I hope it’s not very vague. @@thedudebenny i used my jams for my essays on community! i wrote abt how they were global so i got to meet ppl from all over, and esp during the russo-ukrainian war we had both russians and ukrainians who bonded through the jam and told us stuff like "[the jam] distracted me from the bombs outside my window" (when i read that i was like Oh !!1!11 Damn 😭😭😭😭) anyways i also wrote abt my game dev origin story (the trauma dump version) and i think both align w/ my goals but the latter does more bc i wish to create games that impact people and make them feel better :) i really like heartwarming (or heart-wrenching tear-jerking ehehe) games that come from my heart. i want to make more games like angela he's (she's my idol!), if you know her :D i do truly think it's important to focus on what you like cuz at the end of the day we should be prioritizing ourselves and our happiness, we'll be fine (look at u saving so much tuition money!!) c: part of that for me is seeing the impact i/my games have on other people, and also just the creation process itself! also omg we're literally twinning with the game dev clubs!!! and 3d modeling is so cool i want to pick it up but i've just lowkey got too many things i want to do and none of the time/opportunities to do them TT... ren'py vns are so real as well, i mainly make visual novels as well (although on unity)!! for interactive activities i'm not rly sure what you mean, my club is making a game together throughout this school year if that helps? and game jams are lowk the only time i publish games :'D i don't really have the drive right now to work on any specific project (too many to choose from) so game jams are the perfect time to just put everything else away and focus on game dev for like 3 straight days also in case youtube decides to delete this vid again, you can feel free to message me on insta @jolie._.rancher !!

It was MY Dream to become an animator, storyteller, game dev stuff. I just followed you on insta as well. (Yeah i was confused when i got a noti and saw nth on TH-cam haha). Ahhh, developing games together is pretty cool. I was thinking I should hold workshops and guests to share their experiences for people who are interested in going deeply into game dev in the future since CCs don't even have game design courses or similar art courses haha. (tho Im gonna have to speedrun game dev stuff during winter break). Also YESS, I feel like the thing with Game Dev is we can sort of write stories and let people immerse in it fully which is REALLY COOL. I vividly remember my first time playing Undertale and I was just mesmerized by the story and the characters. Funnily enough, I am in my first quarter of CC and I feel like I'm in a 1/4 midlife crisis lol. I feel like when it comes to those college apps and ECs in particular, I think it's just better to do what we enjoy and what we REALLY love doing and prioritise in that field. I wasted my hs years just doing things that I thought would help me get into a good college (and Land A Good Job 💀) and by the time the finals rolled over, I felt mentally exhausted and just didn't care about anything anymore. Initially, I was planning on taking a gap year but had to flee my country UNNECESSARY LORE DROP. Again, thanks for your feedback and replies!!! Just letting you know that this video and your replies have helped me sort of made my clear my head to focus more on what I love doing and my goals. :))
2:39 yeah for the entire school UIUC is a safety but if you are applying into comp sci, it becomes insanely difficult to get into(7%!) congrats on your other acceptances!

I think some of the other schools like UW were using protection yield and rejected her because they thought she wouldn't attend since her scores were so high.
lowkey i think that's the case for uiuc and cmu (none of which i applied pure cs) and maybe ut/unc (i'm oos), but the rest prob weren't cuz cs is just so hard to get into
It was likely not yield protection for UW. UW out of state CS is super competitive. It's only a 2% acceptance rate. UIUC has a 6% acceptance rate for CS. UT is also very hard to get into out of state due to the auto admit legislation in Texas.
@@mythicbliss747 yep completely agree!! except for uiuc i didn't apply pure cs (as i mentioned in the comment before yours) & the year before it had a 25% acceptance rate the reason i said maybe for ut is cuz other ppl from my school got in for cs, but i don't know their profile so they could just be hella cracked LOL
@@jolieyay Some very privileged applicants are able to hire admissions consultants, and don't forget about legacy applicants. But it also could just be fit. There's a lot of BS that goes on in college admissions but you mainted a positive attitude which is encouraging to see. Your MIT application was probably really good and demonstrated a good fit for the school. MIT is better than those schools anyways, it doesn't matter what people say.
I was gonna apply to 31, wrote all their respective essays for the ones I wound up cutting , and wound up applying to only 27. Major props to you for 33

oh i didn't apply cs for mit! for a time i was convinced i would do cs though (u have the freedom to choose any major you want once you're in) but now i'm not doing that anymore LMAO (cs + neuro/cogsci/psych) i believe in you!! even if you don't end up there you will do so well dw :)
Because UIUC Engineering programs is top 10 in the nation, and they only accepts 7% out of 45% the entire school. That’s why I saw a lot of students surprisingly got rejected .
I love the message you sent out in this video, and the clarification blurb in the comments. By watching this video, I felt a little less anxious about my college applications (I just got rejected REA from Stanford lol). But what I learned today is that what we do at university that matters more than where we go. Nevertheless, congrats on MIT! Go BEAVERS, and you'll be amazing out there.

hey! i had a 4.0 but my school also didn't account for +/-, don't stress abt college literally just do what you like. i also like psych, i self-studied ap psych your year :D this is the time to explore and find what you have passion for! do NOT do things just for college you will 99% regret it. at the end of the day you want to look back on high school and be happy you did what made you happy, instead of letting your emotions be dictated by some random ao who might've rejected you on accident

hii :D i started cs w/ usaco which was an Interesting idea .. if you wanna start game dev follow a tutorial to make your first game (i can send you some resources i helped make)!! then once you're more familiar w/ the process try to make your own game :) i tend to stay mostly within my comfort zone but also branch out with like 1 or 2 small things (e.x. adding cinemachine or some combat system i've never done) i'm actually like lowk Very mid at game dev in terms of coding though, i like to make visual novels so there's not as much coding involved

It was MY Dream to become an animator, storyteller, game dev stuff. I just followed you on insta as well. (Yeah i was confused when i got a noti and saw nth on TH-cam haha). Ahhh, developing games together is pretty cool. I was thinking I should hold workshops and guests to share their experiences for people who are interested in going deeply into game dev in the future since CCs don't even have game design courses or similar art courses haha. (tho Im gonna have to speedrun game dev stuff during winter break).
Also YESS, I feel like the thing with Game Dev is we can sort of write stories and let people immerse in it fully which is REALLY COOL. I vividly remember my first time playing Undertale and I was just mesmerized by the story and the characters. Funnily enough, I am in my first quarter of CC and I feel like I'm in a 1/4 midlife crisis lol.
I feel like when it comes to those college apps and ECs in particular, I think it's just better to do what we enjoy and what we REALLY love doing and prioritise in that field. I wasted my hs years just doing things that I thought would help me get into a good college (and Land A Good Job 💀) and by the time the finals rolled over, I felt mentally exhausted and just didn't care about anything anymore. Initially, I was planning on taking a gap year but had to flee my country UNNECESSARY LORE DROP.
Again, thanks for your feedback and replies!!! Just letting you know that this video and your replies have helped me sort of made my clear my head to focus more on what I love doing and my goals. :))

I think some of the other schools like UW were using protection yield and rejected her because they thought she wouldn't attend since her scores were so high.
lowkey i think that's the case for uiuc and cmu (none of which i applied pure cs) and maybe ut/unc (i'm oos), but the rest prob weren't cuz cs is just so hard to get into
It was likely not yield protection for UW. UW out of state CS is super competitive. It's only a 2% acceptance rate. UIUC has a 6% acceptance rate for CS. UT is also very hard to get into out of state due to the auto admit legislation in Texas.

@@jolieyay Some very privileged applicants are able to hire admissions consultants, and don't forget about legacy applicants. But it also could just be fit. There's a lot of BS that goes on in college admissions but you mainted a positive attitude which is encouraging to see. Your MIT application was probably really good and demonstrated a good fit for the school. MIT is better than those schools anyways, it doesn't matter what people say.
I was gonna apply to 31, wrote all their respective essays for the ones I wound up cutting , and wound up applying to only 27. Major props to you for 33

Because UIUC Engineering programs is top 10 in the nation, and they only accepts 7% out of 45% the entire school. That’s why I saw a lot of students surprisingly got rejected .

hey! i had a 4.0 but my school also didn't account for +/-, don't stress abt college literally just do what you like. i also like psych, i self-studied ap psych your year :D this is the time to explore and find what you have passion for! do NOT do things just for college you will 99% regret it. at the end of the day you want to look back on high school and be happy you did what made you happy, instead of letting your emotions be dictated by some random ao who might've rejected you on accident

But I realized that there are plenty of other opportunities out there and I shouldn't get bummed out over a school. hii :D i started cs w/ usaco which was an Interesting idea .. if you wanna start game dev follow a tutorial to make your first game (i can send you some resources i helped make)!! then once you're more familiar w/ the process try to make your own game :) i tend to stay mostly within my comfort zone but also branch out with like 1 or 2 small things (e.x. adding cinemachine or some combat system i've never done)
i'm actually like lowk Very mid at game dev in terms of coding though, i like to make visual novels so there's not as much coding involved
