That 180 grit sandpaper is sharper than your saw, rasp and drill bit. If you find metal too hard for drilling try lower speed too. But your DETERMINATION and PATIENCE are IMPRESSIVE.

Good result in the end, but the video is exhausting to watch. Five and a half minutes of attempting to remove rivets is too much. Editing is important.

ok, yeah, BUTTTTT.... I have been wanting to do some of these tools, and it will make me rethink perhaps an easier way to get those things drilled out! LOL.. looks like a pain. And I dont have a drill press..so will need to think on this..

Need to have lot of patience to watch this restoration.
When you sand something start from a lower grit and then use an higher grit or it will take forever.

Overall I think you did a great job but if you have the money I'd suggest buying a lathe for the sanding process, trust me it's much easier and it's all the more worth it
It's more like I don't have the space. If that changes, i gonna get one :)

@ Ante Pavelic: (leider funktioniert bei mir ANTWORTEN nicht) - Wie alt genau die Feuerwehr-Axt ist weiss ich leider nicht, aber laut einem Feuerwehrmann wurden sie ab ca, 1960 (ohne Gewähr!) über eine lange Zeit so gefertigt. Die Firma D. in Wermelskirchen hat immer noch eine ähnliche im Angebot.

Why not just drive the rivits out once you drilled off the first side
Edit, edit, edit. Yes TH-cam rewards for minutes watched but more shorter vid's is the way. If you don't hook people you won't get any minutes at all. Viewers probably have dozens of sub'ed channels and if they are not hooked in the first couple of minutes they just jog on to an already sub'ed channel and you're lost forever to them..

Buy an angle grinder. It would save a lot of time sanding and filing.
I like the filing part
Unfortunately, the impression of the restoration is a bit spoiled, because of the screws you have chose. It would have been better, if you had use the same as the original, or at least not screws with star. But apart from that, the result was very good.
Like your video man , you just need to find a better way to do what your doing with the file . Other than that like the video.
