"Isn't that where suppost to shift?" "At valve float?" LMAO, these guys are great. I think you guys should take a Geo Tracker and turn it into the biggest monster truck you can. That would be a good show.
To all the people who complain how they do shit on this show. Stop. If you don't like it go watch something else. Other then that, great job guys this is one of my favorite episodes.
haha freaking british people with their panties in a wad. roadkill bought the car "butchered" its not like they did the 350 swap and threw a blower on it. It already had the 350 swapped in.
Moose Commander In fairness, not all of us Brits are living with our heads up our asses... I think this is pretty dang sweet, making crapped out cars cool.
I love that roadkill comes in every form. Trucks, muscle cars, hybrids, purpose built race cars, hacked together project cars... And I give far more credit to you guys accomplishing what you do in the middle of nowhere (half the time). I find it more entertaining when I don't know what will happen. Most car programs have a pristine and fully equipped garage and you KNOW they will succeed. This is automotive drama right here.
+twopoint Takedown Dunno about the job, I would just like a chance to hang and sideline during one of the episode creations. I get there would be long hours of not funny stuff but still..
Having lived right down the street from the speed shop this is awesome. Really enjoyed going “Oh i know where that is... and that.. youre right next to... shoulda gone here”
To the Brits here whining about putting an American V8 into a Jag, remember this: Carroll Shelby created the Cobra by dropping a small block Ford into a British A.C. Ace. Worked out pretty well, if you ask me! Also, even though this was originally a V-12 car, it was still a lowly 4-door, which is only a notch above a rusted-out minivan, no matter how few were made. Lastly, the XJ series Jaguars are quite possibly the most unreliable cars ever made. Did Lucas® (the manufacturer of most British automotive electrical components) make the electrical bits for Jaguar back then? If so, it's no wonder they were so troublesome. Joke of the day: Q - Why do the Brits drink warm beer? A - Because Lucas makes refrigerators, too.
I am a brit, I have no quibble with your statement. Yes in UK spec the V12 made around 300 horses, so not so different to the V8 blower motor. Thing is, the car was aready butchered, so at least it had a good run in it's old age. Yes the AC cobra was a hooligan tool, American muscle with British chassis, there were others too, Jensen Interceptor, original TVR Griffith, Sunbeam Tiger, Ford GT40 & a few more. Yes Jaguar were plagued with crappy Lucas electrics, one consolation was our Vauxhall (GM) cars had AC Delco & Fords had their own stuff.
Russ Cattell I'm happy enough to be able to say that I've owned a couple of Vauxhall V6 cars cavalier and Calibra that had a similar performance to this Jag with only 170bhp. But I've also jus t found out that the Jag V12 engine was a "sort of" flat head engine where the cylinder heads were completely flat and combustion took place in a cup in each piston crown.

Yes the Jag V12 was a low state of tune, if it was quad cam, multi valve hemi it would have been mad. A mate had a V6 Calibra, slippery shaped car hence high top speed.
I think they should put a lift kit on it, put on sand tires and bigger wheels, and go climb some sand dunes. Hand it off to Dirt Every Day and let that Foxtrot guy go chew on their asses for a while about How You're Desecrating The Spirit of the Great Jaguar
I watched this episode recently. I never had any love for the old jags before this episode. I Loved what you did to it, you totaly changed it's look and feel with that one change! A few days later I saw a similar model grey jag out on the road.. Thought about that supercharger poking out of the hood.. and smiled. I want one, with supercharger, and a plate that reads TEANJD (we only get 6 max characters on our plates here). Well done guys! That was entertaining and perspective changing. Long live ROADKILL!
Hilarious !! As an American living in Europe I gotta say this satisfies some deep seated subversive outlaw iconoclastic eclectic thing at the core of one of the things thats most worth a damn about ....I forgot what I was saying .
The V12 was probably removed because of cooling issues. The V12 produced so much heat that the jag engineers had to design a new cooling system and the battery had its own cooling fan to stop it catching fire. The reason so few were made was because it would fail in any climate that wasn't England. Jaguar tried to market these in the oil rich middle east it wasn't a success! The early models were overheating before they got off the docks. Jaguar did make improvements but the car had a reputation by then.
Instead I have a 1997 Honda Civic coupe with a fully built LSVTEC (a USDM B18B1 block with an also fully built JDM B16B DOHC VTEC cylinder head from a Civic Type-R). It has a Garrett GTS3582 turbo that makes 709 whp at 34 psi. I really do appreciate all builds and while you may not be into mine and I may not be into yours, I still have always wanted an old school 30s, 40s, 50s cruiser with a somewhat modern powerplant.
One of my all-time favorite dream builds is an old Packard V-12 with an Audi/Lamborghini 6.4L V-12 from a Murcielago, but more realistic would be a 50s Mercury lead sled slammed on the ground with the Mooneye hubcaps, a 6.2L supercharged Hellcat Hemi, and side pipes with glasspacks and the old school perforated heat shields like a Shelby Cobra or a C2 Corvette.
This is a show about doing silly things with cars that were destined for the junkyard. Consider it recycling. The guys DO know how to properly tune a car. Or restore a car. This show is not about doing things properly. Shoving a supercharger through the hood of a totally inappropriate vehicle is in fact the entire point.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I JUST LOVE WATCHING VINTAGE ORIGINAL ROADKILL EPISODES!!!! I LOVE MY HOT ROD FAMILY!!!! YOU MADE MY DAY!!!! VERY INSPIRATIONAL!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!
Christiaan Carstens All I really know about Jags is seeing them on the side of I-40, overheated, between Arizona and CA where you have to climb for like 3 hours straight.
Looking back... this is an XJ12L. That means it's the long wheelbase, with extra rear leg room, and is even more rare. Much, much less than 4700 were made. Probably closer to 700. Sad then, that this should be its fate. To be raped, thrashed and abused in this manner. A comfortable, world class super cruiser, turned annoying, worthless fart box. Only in America baby.
***** _When_ it happens doesn't matter, it did happen, and it's awful. This one didn't get 'fixed up'. It just had more shit piled on top of it. The V8 was a joke, the supercharger a mockery of a once fine vehicle.
Foxtrot Oscar the car is a crusty pile of shit that would be rotting in some desolate corner had they not picked it up. Anyways. Not your car so no one gives a shit what you'd do.
vivalaking But, when the V8 went in, given the stage of decay of both it and the interior, the car wouldn't have been that bad. The original V8 insertion was the point at which the car became a pile of shit. Even if you can't find a V12, a jaguar straight six is more than adequate for the job, and still better than the small block. It's like putting a 50cc two stroke in a Mustang, it's an insult to the car and what it stands for. I don't even like Mustangs and that would annoy me...
***** No, they're not. My oldest is 59 this year and still going strong. Friends of mine own and run cars over 100 years old. They still work, still run, and still do their job perfectly. Treating cars as consumable is why they're now so shite, and why so many are scrapped needlessly. It's more energy efficient to keep a car on the road for 50 years than it is to make a new one every 20 years, even if the newer one is more fuel efficient. Over its life, my XJ won't put out nearly as much pollution, because it was all made close by, reducing emissions of manufacture, and it's almost all recyclable, no plastics or computer stuff. Excessive consumerism is killing the planet, and killing our cultural diversity. End it now before the eco nutters end it for us.
TomBom292 Stock '07 Accord will most likely run in the 16.30's (1 sec slower). This car runs 15.35's. Which is nearly as fast as a stock '92 Mustang 5.0.
TomBom292 I just go based off stock cars I've seen run, quarter mile times from accurate websites, and friends of mine with proof. Like my friend had a '92 5.0 Mustang bone stock and it ran something around 14.9-15.0@100mph. Car and Driver rated a 2007 Honda Accord I4 at 16.4@85mph. The manual will get you 16.1@87mph. www.caranddriver.com/features/the-quickest-cars-of-2007-less-than-20000-sixth-place-2007-honda-accord-page-1
Discovery nearly ruined Roadkill by taking their episodes away from TH-cam. Too bad Motor Trend sold Roadkill to a lame, cable TV company with out-of-date values and intentions.
So here we have a "rare" WORTHLESS car that was so bad it sparked the joke "you might as well own two so you can drive one while the other is in the shop". Engine so problematic that even the Brits tend to swap them. Plus this one in particular was destroyed inside and out. So let's argue that they destroyed a car worth under $20000 fully restored and would cost $50000 to restore. I say finish building the engine and replace the rear end. Make it run low tens and have a good time.
A friend of mine has a Jag exactly like this one.....It was a really nice car until someone stole it. When it was recovered it was discovered that the thieves had pulled the oil pan drain plug and let the engine destroy itself.....Still a nice car....WITH A DESTROYED ENGINE. In my opinionthis is a great candidate for a engine upgrade. Darrel is open to offers. INTERESTED?
They're not really worth all that much once they reach this age. If it was in pristine condition, that would be another story. But the one that they have has rust issues, wiring problems, a non-factory engine in bad shape (at least when this video was made,) and other issues as well.
crazyfvck Oops, I somehow wasn´t aware that this had a non-factory engine. That does change things considerably. But if it had, wouldn´t it really not have been worth 1000$? I know that it would have been a steal on the used car market in Germany, they are quite expensive over here.
Jeremy J. Yeah at some point in the past a Chevy 350 (5.7L) was installed in the car.. That's why they were able to bolt on the supercharger so easily. If this car had been in decent shape, with the original engine and transmission, I'd expect it to bring $3,000 - $4,000. But that might be optimistic for a 42 year old car... They're not as collectible as older Mustangs, Camaros, etc., at least in the U.S. Really depends on what people are willing to pay for them. As a point of comparison, I just bought a 2003 Jaguar XJR with 90,000 miles on it, very well maintained, and the only issue was 1 or 2 door dings. I paid $8,000 for it. That was originally a $75,000 car, and the '03's are very desirable because that was the last year for that body style. It was also the year that they corrected most of the issues that the cars were having. Even so, I was able to get it for well under $10,000.
Midget saw No. The XF is one of the best mid-size saloons on the market. The 5 series might be a bit faster, but the Jag is comfier and has really nice handling with it, and lots of little details that make it a nicer and more interesting thing to sit in for long periods. The XJ is one of the best luxury limo-saloons out there, for similar reasons. The F type is a cracking big sports car, despite the annoyance of no manual option (and so long as you steer clear of the V8 version) and I'd recommend it to anyone who didn't absolutely have to have a clutch pedal. The XK is getting on a bit, but is still a cracking GT, an Aston Martin DB9 in all but price and the luxury hand made feel. Oh, and it doesn't have a V12, which is a pain. The whole range is pretty good, and yes, they do all look fantastic. And, if you look at the top 100 most reliable cars (according to warranty direct) there's a fair few Jags in there, amongst the Japanese stuff. Not many BMWs or Astons or any of Jaguar's competitors. Having free reign on what they do, and sharing with Land Rover has allowed their reliability to shoot through the roof compared to when they were strung up by Ford or BL.
Foxtrot Oscar Dude, get your head out of your own ass. Not every car has to be restored. If one or two cars out of a 100 (just an example) is completely different, its completely fine. Thes particular XJ12 is more interesting and full of character than any other XJ I've seen, since they are all restored and are basically stock. That's boring.
Andrew Laedtke ....... clearly not seen the new 600hp jags have you. lots of different engines in the jags, as they were built for luxury for a long time. so yeah an old v12 jag isnt going to stand up to a new car is it..
I rather see this happening to an old jaguar then seeing a jaguar to the crusher. And it sure was entertaining to see this video ( and i learned a lot too! ) Keep on going guys! You just got another subscriber!
id pay a monthly subscription to have it once a week, i literally count down everyday to the next episode and in the mean time watch the previous episode 3 times.. i gotta say though this addiction is healthier and cheaper than crack
You guys have the best job ever. I would love to bring some British sarcasm to the show. BTW we have tea and scones dude. Usually with clotted cream and what we call JAM not JELLY!! 😂
There's a lot of very silly UK vs US nonsense in the comments below (wind your necks in, boys) - none of which detracts from the fact that this is a great car and a great episode! The Draguar epitomises the best of both car countries' car cultures. I love it (and yes, I'm English and yes, I own and love my Jaaags 🙂
10 years later, and Roadkill is still going strong. I think this was one of the first episodes I ever watched.
I bought a series 2 Jag especially because of this episode. Great car, broke alot, but still great.
You say “going strong” look at it now. Depressing.
Finally they’ve brought some of the TH-cam videos back!
They should have all of them
ikr!
Heck yea! they need all the cheddar they can get.
Is that what’s going on? I was wondering where they were coming from. Interesting that they just set them to private all these years
@@darkninjacorporation they set them private because they went to motor trend
Should've re-routed the windshield sprayers onto the radiator......
Ronald Colman that probly would have worked lol
+Ronald Colman i know this is an old comment, but since a brand new rad didnt help i doubt that would have either
Couldn't hurt.
+Ronald Colman They could have just used the washer tank for methanol injection?
"Isn't that where suppost to shift?" "At valve float?" LMAO, these guys are great. I think you guys should take a Geo Tracker and turn it into the biggest monster truck you can. That would be a good show.
I'm talking about a building the frame like a monster truck and plop the little lunch box size Geo on top. Use that 10lb lump above your ass.
How about they just do a monster truck
Nah that's a thing dirt every day would do that.
Hahaha geo we have one in our auto shop it is completely garbage because Chevy made terrible geo's sorry butt hurt geo fans
They do that on Dirt Every Day
The best quote in roadkill is "it's like tea and crumpets coverd in jack daniels" and this will for ever be my favorite episode forever 🤣🤣🤣
To all the people who complain how they do shit on this show. Stop. If you don't like it go watch something else.
Other then that, great job guys this is one of my favorite episodes.
lol, like the one guy who's had a comment thread going for the last year. literally still bitching about it and arguing with people.
They do so much all the time wtf are people complaining about
John W It's mostly British people bitching about how they ruined a Jaguar.
haha freaking british people with their panties in a wad. roadkill bought the car "butchered" its not like they did the 350 swap and threw a blower on it. It already had the 350 swapped in.

I know zero about cars. I have only owned one - a 1996 Honda Civic hatchback that was given to me. Yet I love this show.
We all gotta start somewhere. 1988-2000 were the best Hondas ever made. Love your car.
That's a great first car.
I had a 96 dx hatchback too lol mine was red
Misisipi Mike I think you should get a 80's Z28 next

There are so many one-liners in this episode it's absurd.

I think we can all agree that the E-Type, XJ220, F-Type and the Draguar are some of the coolest Jaguar's in history

Of all of the hacked-up project cars they've "fixed" up, this is by far the best that they have done, primarily in the cosmetic department.

I feel like the contrast on this video is off.

Agreed, the darks are too dark, which create shadows...
I think its just the exposure is off
yeah cause anything mildly dark you can't see

Also because the engine probably blew rods out of the valve covers at 3500 rpm at 100,000 miles. Chevy motor gave it some worth
DrDaniel98521 The cylinder liners were made out of tin foil, so yeah...
DrDaniel98521 Q.How do you double the value of a chevy?
A. Fill the gas tank.
That is the ONLY way a chivy motor will give something any worth.
Im british and that is the most fucking awesome jag iv ever seen. I own a 1934 ford coupe with chevy v8 btw
Now THAT'S an awesome car. A 31 Ford coupe with a Chevy V8...I really hope you still have that car because that's something I've always wanted to own.

tea and crumpets covered in jack daniels lol
"What did YOU do today?" I finished putting together a 1992 Yamaha Seca 2 and slept almost the rest of the day.
I've always loved this moment 8:00 😂❤️
"The Draguar is born"
so you bought a jag for a grand, installed a blower, went drag racing and cruised home.
what did i do?
i installed a set of spark plugs in my car
Relatable 😂
but was it the right set?

Watch episode 1, the first thing you hear is "this is roadkill, a show where we play with cars and you point laugh"
I'm British so find it difficult to approve of this modification, but the video certainly made me smile. Well done !
Haha Americans are the only ones who would praise old British cars for build quality
That's because it's better than the crap we build today.
Ryan Lober Sad but true
i saw something rare on craigslist. A 2000 Land Rover Discovery with 189,000 miles on it! I wonder how many engines its had. lol
Bill Hill ... Those came with a Buick engine...
BuzzLOLOL
Did Ford contract with gm for engines. I thought Ford owned Land Rover at that point in time.
It Looks Like The Jaguar Is Running Away From The Air Intake

Totally the blower
It's saturday, i had to go to work for 2 hrs came home at 11am watched i think 10 episodes of roadkill played nfsmw for 2 hrs and now watching roadkill again... Awesome day

They sure look nice though
Yeah
Ohh yeah! Frisco to sac. I make that trip every two weeks to visit my folks...crazy weather change! I feel you guys!
YOU GUYS R AWSOME, ROADKILL RULES!
The car does burnouts like it has 1200 horsepower but it runs like it has 120 horsepower
AngrySlime11 you can do burn outs in a front wheel drive 70 hp econo car easy. With about 300 like f was estimating donuts are easy.
This car looks great.
just makes you want to go find a cheap luxobarge and do this...a targetmaster 350 from a junkyard panel van and an EvilBay turbo setup and you're there.
I love these guys they literally are getting paid doing stuff they love. what a way to live
What did I do today. watch roadkill
Just an Average kid
I did the same thing
sounds like a good day
Dave Here it is always a good day with road kill!
They are just putting it in drive and letting it shift up by itself, dogging it out. They needed to manually shift it so it could get some rpms's up.
yep, you're right, shifted way too early which pooched it out.
Gosh, David Freiburger really sounds a lot like Jello Biafra from the Dead Kennedy's, I love it!
I thought that love the dk's
charley bembridge
Right? I'd love to hear David sing a DK song haha
Haha! English quality means it might not work.
It means a door is gonna fall off
kane legacy Have you ever driven a nice American muscle car..?
might not work, and will likely catch fire!
kane legacy I was talking about older models. Yeah, the new ones suck.
Cough. Rolls Royce? Cough.
every episode
"this is too good for us"
car- u thought
Thats the Episode that got me hooked on Roadkill.
Found it by accident and now i´m a Fan Boy :D
They should've changed the oil.
It be nice if they redid the draguar and make it run fast
they did. they put a 696 horse set up in it. videos called "dyno tuning the draguar
"
@@2009antz im have check thar out lol that jag looked biscuits running that blower
they also did a shoot out with Randy Pobst with the 383 in one episode, also they took it to Firebird raceway in Idaho in a more recent episode up on discovery+

What did I do today? I watched these shitty Toyota Corolla ads over and over without a Skip Button
AWESOME BURNOUT! What a great way to end the show, you put a smile on my face!
I'm watching this thinking two out of three Jaguar egnineers just threw up in their mouth.
they are a couple of wise crackin' yank tossers
Steven W You know about them eh?
Its a pos, its impossible to ruin.
Christiaan Carstens All I really know about Jags is seeing them on the side of I-40, overheated, between Arizona and CA where you have to climb for like 3 hours straight.

Cars are consumable items, get over it
***** No, they're not.
End it now before the eco nutters end it for us.
what did you do today: waked up , made some coffee and a sandwich, ate it, fapped, turned on pc, watched this vid
waked up? That's a new one. How does one "waked up" ?
Justin Devoldo wake up.....
Woke up.....
god damnit
You could use Awoken*
You guys are hilarious. These videos just get better and better. Thanks for sharing these projects. Cool.
I think my mom's 2007 Accord could outrun the Draguar...
+TomBom292 - Not if its stock
+Joseph Summers The Honda is still faster than the stock draguar
TomBom292
Stock '07 Accord will most likely run in the 16.30's (1 sec slower). This car runs 15.35's. Which is nearly as fast as a stock '92 Mustang 5.0.
+Joseph Summers Ok, that makes sense
TomBom292
I just go based off stock cars I've seen run, quarter mile times from accurate websites, and friends of mine with proof. Like my friend had a '92 5.0 Mustang bone stock and it ran something around 14.9-15.0@100mph. Car and Driver rated a 2007 Honda Accord I4 at 16.4@85mph. The manual will get you 16.1@87mph. www.caranddriver.com/features/the-quickest-cars-of-2007-less-than-20000-sixth-place-2007-honda-accord-page-1
You only needed to add a skirt to make a draguar. .
You sir have earned my like with that burnout at the end.
Mad fun, I'll be strapping a blower to a stock AMC 360 in a few months, poser verified
Discovery nearly ruined Roadkill by taking their episodes away from TH-cam.
Too bad Motor Trend sold Roadkill to a lame, cable TV company with out-of-date values and intentions.
You guys are awesome! I can only dream of having your job. Great work as always
16:15 sounds like a steam train
So here we have a "rare" WORTHLESS car that was so bad it sparked the joke "you might as well own two so you can drive one while the other is in the shop". Engine so problematic that even the Brits tend to swap them. Plus this one in particular was destroyed inside and out. So let's argue that they destroyed a car worth under $20000 fully restored and would cost $50000 to restore. I say finish building the engine and replace the rear end. Make it run low tens and have a good time.
Awww... Is someone butthurt?
Krista Cochran How did anything he say sound butt hurt?
Most definitely the baddest looking jag. Period
...now Get Some!
INTERESTED?
Btw homeboy Finneman swung dat ass around in a circle real easy
We have a pro-street Jaguar over here with a SBC, its called The rat in the cat, great vid guys as always.
Why would anyone give this away for 1000 $? with a little bit of work on sensible stuff, this would´ve been a fantastic car.
+Jeremy J. Are you kidding? It's British.
Even so, I was able to get it for well under $10,000.
crazyfvck Nice going, dude.I really love these vintages, they really had something going with their styling.
Never seen an XJ6 with the steering wheel on the incorrect side!
its an xj12
minibiker99
I sit corrected!
Factory reject. You know, Jaguar build quality and all that. Give all the wrong ones to the Yanks, no one knows the difference...
I love how they never complain about money they spend on all this stuff. funded shows are awesome
How do two mechanical professionals pick the wrong spark plugs for a 350 small block?
the shop who sold them the plugs probably picked them lol
So many butt hurt British people... hahaha.
Smegg off
Andrew Laedtke ....... clearly not seen the new 600hp jags have you. lots of different engines in the jags, as they were built for luxury for a long time. so yeah an old v12 jag isnt going to stand up to a new car is it..
$1000 bucks! ;)
kris burns what 600hp jag?
Brandon carson The one in this video...
I rather see this happening to an old jaguar then seeing a jaguar to the crusher. And it sure was entertaining to see this video ( and i learned a lot too! )
Keep on going guys! You just got another subscriber!
Poor British snobs are crying because their Jag rustbucket isn't rotting away in a puddle of its own fluids.
Why disgrace a classic Jag like that -.-
Jordan 'Dingus'Jones oh please, 🙄
Because fuck you
Freiburger: "this door doesn't open, you trying to sell us a bogus car here" 😂😂😂
Idiots...
So I think the moral of this roadkill series, is to admit to the rest of the world that these guys have the greatest and best jobs in the world...
Finally a Road Kill starting in my neck of the woods.
Oh boy, it's 2024 and Draguar has a totally different meaning now.
Yeah it means the same as Faguar 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
OMG I go to that raceway all the time! Great dragstrip!
"When you took off... all the way down the track."
"Uuuuugh, I've never done that before in my LIFE!"
Hearing this now is just hilarious.
the xj is one of my favorite jaguars what they did was .......... unbelieve nice job guys
Im surprised more people don't come back and rewatch these after 3 or 4 years
8:00 Instant smiles! Best day at work ever!
This show honestly is the best!
I went to school and now I'm here.
Fun day.
Done and done on all the above..there's more than one type of record for all mentioned us across the board
id pay a monthly subscription to have it once a week, i literally count down everyday to the next episode and in the mean time watch the previous episode 3 times.. i gotta say though this addiction is healthier and cheaper than crack
Taranaki New Zealand loves Roadkill!!!
They should come over and do a show, all those back roads...
Yea, so that's one of the coolest things I have ever seen!!
Excellent in every way
You get a thumbs up from me, that put a smile on my face.
