1:40 Hi Rob, this isn't how to adjust the aperture. The ASA determines how sensitive the film is to light. Unless you're experimenting with pushing / pulling, this should match the ISO of the film you're shooting on. Great camera!
He's not TOTALLY wrong, though. You can absolutely use the ASA dial to adjust the exposure when shooting in A-mode. E.g. you could intentionally overexpose a 200-speed film by one stop by changing the ASA dial to 100, although it may not necessarily change the aperture, it might increase the shutter from 1/40 to 1/200. But given that the Trip 35 only has two shutter speeds, it's more likely that it'll change the aperture.
I bought one for 2.50 dollars and tried all of this, it seems to work. The red flag comes up with low light, the aperture plates seem to open normally, et cetera
Hi @Rob Nunn, my film advance wheel can't seem to work. It's on the "S" right now, and it doesn't let me fire shutter or wind the film advance wheel even if I load the film in it. Please help!
Is there a remedy to the light meter not working? Great video! Saw one pop up on my local listings for $20 but they say it has this issue. I have a K-1000 but want something a bit more casual for trips around the city, supposing I can get it working!
I just bought one from ebay but the red flag is not working. Also, when I change it to f2.8, I cannot see the aperture blade is not opening and closing. However, when I look from the back, I can see the blade is opening. Do I need to get it fix?
So my trip 35 works with all these features I just feel that when I shoot it it's sounds like it's not shooting hard enough or give a loud enough click does that mean anything ?
I can move my trip 35's focus ring a few mm's further than the first symbol before it blocks. Is that normal? I'm wondering if I can achieve a little closer focus distance with that.
hi nice video! My trip 35 has a different problem with the A mode though. The red flag comes up no matter what the light intensity is, and the aperture blades stay at the same size as well no matter the light intensity. I'm assuming that the reason is that the selenium cells is non-functioning, but do you know how I could fix it? (the camera works fine if I set aperture manually)
Found my dads camera, it had rust and padina cleaned it. Aperture blades work fine. Light meter tongue was working when I tested the first time, the second time, it was no longer working. xP
hi Rob! i have an olympus trip 35 and i would like to know how to take double exposure photos with it. can you make a video about it and showing how? thank you so much!
1, take a photo. 2, press release button. 3 rewind the film (i suggest you to put a film that you dont need to get to know how much you should wind back, i always have an exposed film to test cameras). also there is another option it's kinda more fun. you can use a permanent marker to mark a spot on a film when loading film, then remember the spot, take pictures you want as a background or first layer or whatever. when you take all the pictures load film again and place in a way to make the mark be at the same place as before, take pictures you want as a second layer. its fun because you don't know which pictures apply on what, unless if you remember
You just have a bad camera in your hands! But they are numerous enough to find one in good order somewhere just don't pay a lot of money for it unless you want it that much!
Hi, the red flag doesn't pop up in my viewfinder (even when i'm in pitch darkness) at all :( does this mean that the light meter of my trip 35 isn't working? will i still be able to take photos if that is the case?
If the shutter fires it'll still take photos, but they will be over / under exposed. If you get the film developed at a lab, they might come out ok, but you could get lots of duds, or lots of grain.
On mine it seems to decide randomly to shoot. Sometimes when it’s bright it won’t shoot, and sometimes when I cover the lens it shoots anyway. Is this fixable, or has it just gone bad?
Just bought my first one today and waiting for it to come. Thanks for these tips that will undoubtedly help
Bought one for fiver 20 years ago and now having a play with it.This is great to watch n learn

Wow, this was incredibly helpful. Thank you.

These are marvellous wish I'd had one as a kid
Just considering buying one of these cameras. Really helpful video.
WOW, Sick camera, does it shoot 4k video in lomography?
Ye
Thank you so much! Beneficial video for amateurs.

Hi, mine won’t take photos on Automatic even though there is enough light? It works on the manual settings but not auto - any ideas?
Thanks for sharing. I thought mine wasn't working, but it is.
Excellent video, do you know how to date the models? Heard there is a serial number behind pressure plate?
It should be on the top plate
Would this quite similar advice for an Olympus pen ee? Thanks
What setup did u use to film this video? Camera and mic etc
You help me a lot, man. Thank you!

I have same problem pls help

hey i wondered why we shouldnt use f stops without a flash?
You can, but you'll need to meter somehow. Shutter speed is fixed at 1/40 when using manual aperture settings.
what if i can still take a shot even though the selenium cell is covered?
I have the same problem
Put it on the A mode
The cell is broken :P
What if my shutter blades don’t close the whole way and don’t open every time you press the button?
Hi, I realised that the aperture blades of my Trip does not open and close even when it's turned to f2.8, will the camera still work? thanks!
Depending on the lighting and where they're stuck, you'll either get too dark, too light, or just right photos!
do you know how i maybe could fix it?
i have the same problem :( does anyone know how i can fix it?
Stuck aperture blades. Open it up and clean the blades with some alcohol.
Very helpful thank you

+FreeTheInternets Maybe a little. Give it a go and see what happens!
Nice! Thanks.

andych. Do is it work with manual apartheid adjustment? Mine has the same problem but I don’t want to waste a roll of film on testing it?
Sounds like a dead lightmeter.
Mine was stuck, I've cleaned it, now it stays open, after half pressing, taking a shot, when I change apparature it does the same
really helpful! Cheers!
How many light seals does the trip have ? Is the seal just located at the side of the door ? Or are there more (around the edges etc)
Found my dads camera, it had rust and padina cleaned it. Aperture blades work fine. Light meter tongue was working when I tested the first time, the second time, it was no longer working. xP
Have you ever experienced when the focusing ring is kinda loose? It doesnt click at each focus logo
Mine too! Its like very light and feels like its not working. I can switched ASA so quickly because it loose it. Idk if actually works
Hi, i was wondering if it is possible to take photos, without a flash, inside or in darker light conditions
Tricky. Pop some ISO 400 film in, turn the dial to 2.8, hold it steady, and you will get photos, but they could be dark and grainy.

Hi, I have this camera and I’m putting the film in correctly and everytime the film is coming back blank.
Is the film advance knob turning? Is there proper tension when advancing?
What powers the flash?
The batteries inside the flash
What if my camera didn’t pass any of these tests 😢
You just have a bad camera in your hands!
