    I just changed the fuel pressure sensor on my 2012 BMW X5. I had to disconnect the battery in order to change the part. Once I was done I reconnected the battery and now my windows, blinkers, and side mirrors don’t work. Do I have to register the battery with the scanner in order for this to work again? Or is there another simple solution.

      Smooth running values looks for deviations between cylinders. If the number is a lot different it helps identify that that cylinder may have an underlying issue and then additional tests can be performed such as swapnosis of coil, plug, injector, And compression and cylinder leak down.

      Hi Ed, This scan tool really does a great job on BMW's. If you are getting a drivetrain malfunction warning this scan tool should be able to pull the code. I wish I could say with 100% certainty but unfortunately I cannot be sure your vehicle for some reason is not storing the code in your DDE (digital diesel electronics module). I think for the cost it is a great scan tool if you have a BMW! The other option would be to have the dealer do a 1 hour diagnosis to check codes and run any applicable test plans. Then you could have the option to do the repair yourself or do more research on the information they can provide. Some independent shops also use the BMW program called ISTA. You could call some independent shops and see if they have this software. I would be happy to talk further as you work through the issue with your BMW. Is this tool only for BMW?

    • @AskTheCarExperts
      @AskTheCarExperts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This scan tool was made for BMW Mini and Mercedes. It can read vehicle control units beyond the normal OBD codes that are only engine specific. I find this is a very useful scan tool.

    No graghping or freeze frame only downside

    • @AskTheCarExperts
      @AskTheCarExperts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is some graphing if you go under the control unit directly but it is limited. But it does do a great job scanning all modules.

    Would this read timing failure ?

    • @AskTheCarExperts
      @AskTheCarExperts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi JD, Typically a scan tool will not tell you that. But you will be able to read faults relating to tuning like camshaft or vanos faults. Then you would have to check timing on the vehicle.

    • @AskTheCarExperts
      @AskTheCarExperts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure. You have a CAS on your vehicle. The most common failure is the starter. Also check your engine ground. If it is an early model it may also be an issue with the ELV electronic steering lock.

    • @ZeroGHome24
      @ZeroGHome24 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AskTheCarExperts appreciate the fast response. The starter motor has been replaced. I've fitted a ecu kit as the old kit wasn't for the same model. I think that's why the ews light is on as the ecm needs to be aligned. The battery was also replaced as it was totally dead and wasn't coded in.
