I still remember all the nights I would spend prowling the streets of Mombasa searching for the audio logs just to see what I would get, enjoying the rain and ambience the music created. It was something else I couldn't get elsewhere. I miss ODST. RIP Rookie. It was an honour serving with you.
I mean it wholeheartedly when I say Marty is one of the greatest composers of our time. He manages to grasp the bittersweet magic in our souls that spurs us to move forward in the rain. There's nothing else like it.
@@SOTYFAMILY_FANLEAH Michael Salvatori too! Salvatori did so much for the OSTs, dunno how much he did for the sound design as well if anything at all. But Marty had a ton of influence on Halo as a whole even outside of audio, Bungie was a weird little studio like that back then
I have been one acquainted with the night. I have walked out in rain-and back in rain. I have outwalked the furthest city light. I have looked down the saddest city lane. I have passed by the watchman on his beat And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain. I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet When far away an interrupted cry Came over houses from another street, But not to call me back or say good-bye; And further still at an unearthly height, One luminary clock against the sky Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right. I'm currently in a very lonely place in my life and love listening to this song on repeat. It doesn't make me feel happier but it does make me feel like this is a passing thing. I don't know how else to describe it. So anyway, thanks for this version of the song. I've listened to it hundreds of times by now on my lonely late-night commutes just thinking things over.
I think it has been lonely for most if not all of us, especially since we are here, all of us, the people that have different experiences yet know the same feeling. Loneliness
So this was the Rookie without helmet chilling on a New Mombasa Car while is raining outside and listening Sadie audio logs. By the way nice Cowboy B background and Marty O’Donnell & Michael Salvatori halo ODST music.
I come here sometimes when I am sad, to remind myself that even humanity was able to recover from the invasion of New Mombasa at its most bleak. There is always another reason to keep going.
Marty O’Donnell is once again getting sued by many corporations at once, if you wanna help him, check his YT Chanel before is deleted and his official Twitter account and by some of his stuff in bandcamp to pay his legal fees.
It's interesting to see how far Halo has come after two decades, if it wasn't for Microsoft buying Bungie, Bungie wouldn't even have existed. Marty O'Donnell Is really the masterpiece when it comes to music in the halo days of Bungie, he managed to grasp the music and have it entwined with the game. At points in the game, there are times when we feel lost. Where we feel as if we've had no success after killing so many covenants that have slaughtered so many. Many times it's often made me wonder, how we can feel so lost and alone. But it's not just the game and the environmental storytelling that goes with it, it's the music. Johnny Depp once said, “Music touches us emotionally, where words alone can’t.” This is exactly what Marty O'Donnell does. In ODST, whenever we play The Rookie. We always feel lost and alone, with no backup, no friendlies telling us what to do. You just have to trust your instincts and be the one to come out on top. Thank you, Bungie for bringing us such a wonderful game and so many memories that leave us most of the time crying. "Thank you for playing Halo 3 and thanks for being a part of the engine that drives us towards our ultimate goal of world domination. Thanks for giving Bungie a community that has kicked ass throughout the years, and will continue to kick ass for many, many more." Love Bungie.
I gotta take off this helmet. And see the beautiful grey clouds and rain. Damn im rethinking of ending myself. Thank you. I mean i give you alot of respect.
Deference for darkness is like a deus ex machina in man’s life. The ambience gives you peace and integrity. Like there is still an echo embrace you not to give up in the lonely night of disappointment.
Every time I listen to "deference for darkness" I remember this one dream I had that had nothing to do with halo but in the dream, there was a man. I can't exactly remember his face or anything like that but there was this man in my dream for no apparent reason and sometimes it makes me feel sad for the man and Idk why it does. idk I have crazy dreams and it sounds pretty dumb so yeah lmao
So I recently played the destiny 2 30th anniversary event yesterday, while doing so I got the BXR, the plasma cannon, one half of the plasma sword, and the shotgun, I later learned they added the magum as a exotic, when I finally got it, no lie, this song immediately played in my head, my dad loved halo, halo was the reason I started playing fps, getting that pistol reminded me of my father...rest in piece dad
The ironic thing to me is that this halo music makes me think more of Film 🎞 Noir and Final Fantasy than the original game’s soundtrack. I ain’t complaining, mind you. It appears our franchises, our works of art and culture are just as organic as we are-growing and changing, as well as having more than one side.
I love seeing the old comments of people and seeing 2-3 people that commented recently, it makes me think I am one of the only people who is still online
