What I really appreciate about this channel and its music is that it perfectly changes a song so that it sounds like an average Jazz piece to a random person while at the same time making someone who recognizes the song smile with nostalgia. Being able to change a piece of music enough to change it into its own song while still being recognizable to someone who remembers the song shows real effort and talent.

I don't think I truly appreciated music, or I suppose art in general, until I got really into video games. I realize now that there's so much more to art than only beauty or emotion. Art isn't just a medium to communicate in, it's a way to explore concepts in a way you can't with simple language. Video games are a recent epitomization of this, but the insightful and adventurous sides of art have always been around, just harder to see since it was closer to the artist. Now, you can step into the artist's shoes and see from their perspective, or from whatever perspective they want to show you. I think I can understand that more for other forms of media now that I have the experience from games.
0:190:260:31 Ignore this comment, this is for me. I'm trying to write my version of this song but on the alto saxophone. Just realized i can download his sheet music and transpose it lol
Halo 3: ODST is one of my favorite games in the series, partially because of the jazzy and unique soundtrack. Thank you for reminding me of those sweet tunes and making the start of the week at the office a good one! :)
First time on this channel as this video just happened to pop up into my recommended, and I can say without a doubt that this is an amazing and most definitely worthy tribute to the music of Halo ODST. I love all the Halo music and games, but I felt like ODST was always the odd one out that never received much attention. Nice to see that even now; there are still those who appreciate this soundtrack as much as I do. Great work, and don't ever stop doing what you love. Because you're incredible at it.
Welcome to the channel, Amias! I'm really glad that you found my music to be a fitting tribute to ODST - I love the jazz influences that ODST has, and any soundtrack that turns people on to jazz music is a good one by my book, so thank you so much! Hope you stick around for some other tributes.
Oh my god, thank you so much for this cover!! I've grown up with the Halo franchise, and the soundtrack from Halo 3: ODST gives me goosebumps to this day. This cover is incredible man, keep up the good work!
...This means alot to me. Halo was the first video game series I *really* got into. Played it for years, I still do. And ODST was the first one I played. I fell in love with this game, and after having seen your Sinnoh covers, I was already in love with this channel, and then I saw this. Words cannot describe how happy this simple song made me, out of the hundreds of days of f_cking pain it feels like this year. Wish I had seen this when it came out three years ago. Love your work, man. Keep on it!
This is one of those pieces where words become difficult. This arrangement of an already moving piece is... shattering. In a pretty beautiful way. The piano at the beginning is flawless, and then the introduction of the saxophone, and the layering immediately after. That is some delicious texturing. And then it just takes off with the drums. Going from standing and taking in the sights of a rainy, dangerous street of a desolated city, to making your way through the streets, and piecing together what happened there, as it builds in intensity, before dropping the floor out from under you, into a gentle, heartrending audio vista. The song itself is a journey, and it's one that takes you back to where you started every time. "You know the music, time to dance."
Really, really surprised to see you performing a Halo 3: ODST song. While I knew that this song is a great peace of jazz, I always thought you were that type of guy who just covered Nintendo and Indie games. Currently Halo is not what it was once, but this track is still my favorite in the entire selection of this saga's OST. So glad you covered Rain! uwu and no. I don't have a pun. I can't while you are so formally dressed and I would hate to pour a rain upon you :p
Honestly, for most of the history of my channel, I was/am the type of guy who really does Nintendo and Indie stuff. To be fair, that's where most of my allegiance and memories lie! Branching out into other stuff like Halo and MGS has been really interesting for me!
I really love how you made it your own. This version feels more uplifting and hopeful, but without getting rid of the overall dark tone of the original work. I could easily imagine your version being played in the credits after the game ends.
I wish I could find that Martin O'Donnell comment that was on this video. I honestly wish I could thank him for creating this song. His music on the ODST soundtrack was honestly amazing and doesn't get enough credit. Fan's like Insaneintherainmusic didn't have to go so hard but he did and it's amazing tribute to the song.
Simply amazing. I just got off a vid that played this piece solo on an acoustic guitar and i was feeling the need to play Diablo 1 because their arrangement didn't have the ODST voice whatsoever... and then i found this arrangement, and i instantly felt the strong urging to go hunt down my ODST disc and hook up my old XB360 so i could play this game. You nailed it! And then your own little flourishes and other subtle changes to the original arrangement not only: *1.* Gave more umph to the old-school detective vibe that defined the game to-and-thru practically from the start of the game. *2.* It actually feels like it could go into an ODST "remake" as an alternate OST (original soundtrack) option - something many newer remakes to older games have been seeing a lot of these days _(from the Final Fantasy remakes, reimaginings, & remasterings to even the Halo MCC's [Master Chief Collection] entries)_ ... Keep up the great work! You have a talent and your presumably insanely large quantity of hours spent honing your craft have become very apparent. This compliment comes from someone who once was an amateur/sub-professional musician with experience playing several different instruments at gigs _(mostly woodwinds),_ some paying - some not, performing in school concert bands, marching bands, community bands, woodwind quartets, etc. I lived music, but it was always a blast, and i always had time to continue getting better while still living my life outside music... however little that time outside music may have been, lol. While I lived music and breathed music, i still burned out hard while in my 3rd or 4th year of college because i stopped having time to do the "fun stuff", and only had time to practice what my professors and private teachers wanted, music theory related work, ear training, percussion, piano, private lessons, music history, brass, etc... if i wasn't in a classroom, i was in a practice room - and spent many a night taking short naps in the practice room while i practiced my heart away... and usually didn't get much sleep on good nights because my school treated music education students as if they also were in music performance programs... the forced competition with students that had afforded 15 years of private lessons compared to my single year of private lessons before then all but created the next storm and i burned out hard core... I chose to leave that behind so i could, one day, hopefully regain my love for music without it burning another hole. I only bring this up because your talent and earned skill are great and i hope that you are able to maintain that healthy balance of doing what you love and doing what you must without crossing over into burnout territory. There isn't much worse than deciding to do what you love for work and then getting close to losing what you love. Saving time to continue doing the things that you enjoy within your love for music will hopefully help in that regard. Cheers and many thanks for sharing with us all!
I couldn't help but notice that piano Carlos's hair was cut, while Sax and Drum Carlos's hair wasn't. Does that mean you sometimes do multiple projects at a time based on your previous video? Also, great use of the Tenor Sax's low range.
Yep! Back in January, I filmed a bunch of videos at a time. This one, Jazzy NYC, and Mining Melancholy were all shot during the same session. That's also why there are some haircut discrepancies in those videos!
Me and Dad used to play Halo 3 odst back when it first came out on the xbox 360. He recently passed away recently this reminded me so much the good times we had. I just want to say thank you for this amazing rendition.
i loved halo 3 odst, i remember standing in pre order line at midnight at gamestop and getting home and being blown away from the story and music, im so happy the odsts had their own game
Is, and always will be my favourite piece from the entire Halo series tbh, so much in a single track, it makes me feel, I only wish there was a longer version of it sometimes, this is awesome man
My favorite game of the franchise. Halo 3 ODST is the best for its atmosphere and specially for this soundtrack, I don't know why but I always hear The Incredibles vibe on it.
I'm both in euphoria from the reimagining of this beautiful song and in absolute amazement over the expressions on your face, you must truly love what you do and it's so refreshing to see that, like the legend Marty said, bravo. And thanks to TH-cam for recommending this to me.
You know, I expected a downpour of puns in the comments here, but it looks like all the ones here are all washed up. And here I was, prepared to drop some serious wordplay.
I've never played Halo, but my younger brother does. This is very calm, but so melancholic in a way. Like I said, I've never played Halo, but this sense of despair, yet intensity throughout the video, I'm drawn to that. I'm in danger, but I want to listen to this; I can't move, but my gut is telling me stay put. This is beyond amazing!
I swear from listening to this it made me think of this song being turned into more of a crime thriller. Like a former detective turned Marine trying to solve a crime between some elites and humans while in a hostile war zone. hopefully this makes sense.
Ive been playing Halo since I was a kid, and Halo 3: ODST by far has my favorite soundtrack. The feeling this video gives me is indescribable; Its probably the best rearrangement ive heard of any song (at least in halo) and it makes me so happy to hear. Exemplary job!
The amazing thing about Halo, is that it was always more than just an FPS to me, and I think I can speak for all of us on the memories we created with this series, the stories and emotions, tirelessly respawning as elites and brutes danced over your corpse, and the glorious feeling of prevailing against all odds and achieving a hard fought victory. I was certain I’d never see it in a game again… and then I played ODST… Phenomenal game and an amazing take on one its great pieces 👍🏻 well done sir
wherever i go in life i always come back to this song, this exact recording bro. ODST was my first ever game I played on xbox 360, and you just make it sound so dang amazing. THE NOSTALGIAAAAAA

Oh my god, thank you so much for this cover!! I've grown up with the Halo franchise, and the soundtrack from Halo 3: ODST gives me goosebumps to this day. This cover is incredible man, keep up the good work!
Thanks!
Girls in the rain: oh no my hair is getting wet!
Boys in the rain:
...This means alot to me.
Thug Panda Miss the days when Halo was made with love and compassion, unlike what it is today.
Honestly, for most of the history of my channel, I was/am the type of guy who really does Nintendo and Indie stuff. To be fair, that's where most of my allegiance and memories lie! Branching out into other stuff like Halo and MGS has been really interesting for me!
I love how you got so into the piano that at 4:40 you were about to fall off your chair and had to re-adjust yourself lmao
It's currently raining, and this goes very well with it
I really love how you made it your own.
Some time later.....
@@scouttrooper2871 he recommented on the video so I believe he saw it
“It was raining when we met.”
“It’s the same rain...”
Love the song, and the suit
Why thank you :)
Brings me to tears because of all those memories, good old fashioned firefight and a story I overlooked then,I'm missing it sorely now
Beautiful, someone should take a picture. Nice work by the way
Simply amazing.
And then your own little flourishes and other subtle changes to the original arrangement not only:
*1.* Gave more umph to the old-school detective vibe that defined the game to-and-thru practically from the start of the game.
Still waiting to see a solo with the Nintendo labo cardboard piano.
Seth Underworld the next step of human evolution
It just came out yesterday! Still gotta figure out how to shred on that thing...

:'(
Damn..Carlos killing it with the suit today👌
I dress SHARP!
Yo this one be hittin different
Is, and always will be my favourite piece from the entire Halo series tbh, so much in a single track, it makes me feel, I only wish there was a longer version of it sometimes, this is awesome man
I think my heart melted away by how heartwarming this was. Thank you so much Insane!
You're so welcome! Stay out of the rain ;)
insaneintherainmusic - Carlos Eiene i will lol
I loved the atmosphere of ODST, almost as much as CE
Please Carlos I beg of you, do a cover of Bits and Pieces from Halo 3 ODST.
Chris Sala yesss please, bits and peaces and neon nights
My favorite game of the franchise. Halo 3 ODST is the best for its atmosphere and specially for this soundtrack, I don't know why but I always hear The Incredibles vibe on it.
I love the game too
I don't understand why someone would dislike this, I can understand if you don't like this song. But you gotta respect just the pure skill
When you realise that the rookie from halo 3 ODST gets shot in the head from terrorists. :(
😔why 343 why?

I'm both in euphoria from the reimagining of this beautiful song and in absolute amazement over the expressions on your face, you must truly love what you do and it's so refreshing to see that, like the legend Marty said, bravo.
And thanks to TH-cam for recommending this to me.
You know, I expected a downpour of puns in the comments here, but it looks like all the ones here are all washed up.
And here I was, prepared to drop some serious wordplay.
my puns always rain supreme.
Geez, no need to rain on my parade... nWn
Sorry for the precipitation on your celebration

Seeing every minute of this video was worth it.
Dono why but the jazz part in the beginning litteraly touched my soul
5:46 when the piano chord's so sick you gotta back away for sec
I've never played Halo, but my younger brother does. This is very calm, but so melancholic in a way. Like I said, I've never played Halo, but this sense of despair, yet intensity throughout the video, I'm drawn to that. I'm in danger, but I want to listen to this; I can't move, but my gut is telling me stay put. This is beyond amazing!
I appreciate the emotional feedback! Glad to know that there's something deeper in the music that I put out :)
The Alolan Professor That's basically ODST as a game haha
My favourite piece from the game, I did like a lot so it's beat some tough competition.
glad I could pick this one, then! glad you liked it!
Martys music is what made Halo so iconic I wish he would return for future Halo titles.
I want this to be played in my funeral it's so beautiful
That piano solo reminded me of Lyle Mays quite a lot, good shit
Ahhh thanks!
I swear from listening to this it made me think of this song being turned into more of a crime thriller. Like a former detective turned Marine trying to solve a crime between some elites and humans while in a hostile war zone. hopefully this makes sense.
Beautiful! Halo has one of the best soundtracks.
I agree! ODST specifically hits the nail on the head with noir-style ambience.
Thanks for making the greatest video on my favourite halo OST ‼️
Ive been playing Halo since I was a kid, and Halo 3: ODST by far has my favorite soundtrack. The feeling this video gives me is indescribable; Its probably the best rearrangement ive heard of any song (at least in halo) and it makes me so happy to hear. Exemplary job!
Transmite muchos sentimientos, me encantó esta recomposición
Un saludo desde México

Damn this brings back some memories
Nostalgia..
Marty would be so proud ; u ;

@@justsomerandomasian408 yeah I think he deleted it ( must got tied of notifications from fans trying to talk to him or TH-cam fucked up again)
That's what I was looking for too, wasnt it pinned?
this game unironically helped me out of the lowest point in my life so far, so the music really hits different. you did an amazing job man, 11/10
The amazing thing about Halo, is that it was always more than just an FPS to me, and I think I can speak for all of us on the memories we created with this series, the stories and emotions, tirelessly respawning as elites and brutes danced over your corpse, and the glorious feeling of prevailing against all odds and achieving a hard fought victory. I was certain I’d never see it in a game again… and then I played ODST…
Phenomenal game and an amazing take on one its great pieces 👍🏻 well done sir
Simplemente hermoso
Your videos keep getting better and better...
Thanks for listening! :)
Halo Ashes + labo piano= a damn good idea
Or a Jazz version of “Welcome home” by coheed and cambria....
But Baldi’s theme could work too....
wherever i go in life i always come back to this song, this exact recording bro. ODST was my first ever game I played on xbox 360, and you just make it sound so dang amazing. THE NOSTALGIAAAAAA
This cover is spot on. Halo ODST had some absolutely outstanding tracks, this is a great one.
The whole ODST soundtrack is fire
