    Hey there Cardinal off-road , I would like to thank you for the content you’ve provided through out your build. I have used bits and pieces of several of the videos on my own project which was a 2003 sport originally. Over the course of 4 or 5years I have done multiple rebuilding wasting money because I couldn’t just wait, save the money and do it right. I’m sure 99.99% of the people watching know what I’m talking about unless you just have the funds and pay someone to do it all upfront. I’m not that person, and over the course of these revisions I’ve managed to learn a lot. At the beginning my ability was limited to maybe a brake job or something simple like that ,to now doing some fabrication and a lot more than when I started. It’s been tough but rewarding because like you I do everything by myself and with the use of one arm and hand. Sometimes rigging experiments to lift axles, t-cases and so on takes me longer than the job itself. But like they say built not bought, right? and at the young age of 52 every thing I accomplish feels that much better. Anyway I’ve been really impressed that you were able to do your coil over rear and keep your rear seat, At least that’s what it looks like. I have two little ones so that’s always a limiting factor. The evap canister and equipment located behind the right rear tire, next to the tail lamp screws up a lot as well. Anyway I’ve been kind of fashioning my build a little like yours in the ways I can. I’m not running 1 tons but do have Currie built 44,s ARBs and chromo’s. About as good as I can get right now. Everything used . Unfortunately, I’m running a 4 link rear with the track bar and a radius 4 link front , so that obviously creates its own limitations by not trussing them and creating a better suspension system. So I finally found a 241 and pulled the trigger which brings me back to this video for the 50th time or so. I don’t have a flat tucked skid so the 03 t case fit in my 03 so far pretty good. I was lucky and sourced the primary wire harness for the rear connection . And I think the 4wd indicator switch is good. But the pigtail leading into that I can’t find. I know you finally found the sensor switch itself , was it the same as the original and if so where did you find the electric connector that runs into that? I know it’s a stupid question for such a long comment , but I basically wanted to say thanks and let you know that something you did helped someone who really needed it. So basically, thank you.

      Thanks. I agree if you can hold out do it right the first time. We’ve all spent money on stuff that we change down the road but sometimes that goes with our driving experience and hitting harder trails. Good luck on your build!

    Tie down straps work great for dealing with that weight. I mean the ratchet type straps, btw.

      Daniel Allen I’m not certain if the colors will be the same for an 04. Let me know if they are different I’d like to know. If they are different it will just take some figuring out but nothing too serious.

    Great video. Thanks for doing this. I do have a question. The NP 241 comes as standard on the Rubicons. Why would you need to modify the tub when some TJs are already factory equipped with this TC?

    • @CardinalOffroad
      @CardinalOffroad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don’t have to modify the tub but I wanted a flat skid plate so without running a big body lift that’s the only option

    Can transfer case drop blocks be used instead of cutting the tunnel ?????

    • @CardinalOffroad
      @CardinalOffroad  ปีที่แล้ว

      When you’re using tcase spacers all you’re doing is bringing it down to prevent bad driveline angles which you’ll get when doing a suspension lift. I wanted a flat skid plate which I’d why I did what I did

    Quick question watched your video informative. But wondering if you know answer to a question since you work on these? I just did a tranny swap on a 2004 jeep liberty. swapped the tranny and transfer case together. Both Jeeps 2004.The donor jeep shifter has less like 4 high 4 low, the jeep i put into has 4 wheel part time , fulltime, and low. In other words I assume its technically 2 different transfer cases even though tranny same model and transfer case fits. The question is is there any problems with the differentials like is there a gear ratio in each transfer case?will my differentials work with any proper transfer case or are they mated by model. Does that make sense? I'm now worried about having a mismatched drivetrain. Hoping its OK, seems to drive ok

    • @CardinalOffroad
      @CardinalOffroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most any vehicle that’s 4x4 has different tcases with the same tranny it’s not uncommon. Ratio wise normally there is a tag on the tcase on the backside. Only thing you might run into is a light coming on if the plug isn’t the same.

    • @lorijean7490
      @lorijean7490 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CardinalOffroad well everything fit properly so i shouldn't have to worry about my differentials even if its technically a different transfer case. I really appreciate the fast response I am just not an expert. Yes I was able to switch the trannys but lack the technical expertise. I was just worried of a mismatched gear ratio of some type

    • @CardinalOffroad
      @CardinalOffroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lorijean7490 nope gear ratio will be fine. You can probably look at the tcase info on the tag and compare your ratios. Might be lower or higher but not a big deal at alll

    It does seem like the depth of the 4wd switch is the issue. My rock auto switch didn’t work as well. Was the Napa switch different?

    • @CardinalOffroad
      @CardinalOffroad  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not 100% sure. I had some issues with my cluster so unhooked a bunch of stuff abs really need to get it back together. I’m very happy with how the tcase does though. With 40s and 538s I’m more than happy with how it crawls.

    • @CardinalOffroad

      Best thing to do is narrow it down. Put it on a lift or Jack it up and turn tires to see if you can here it. Should be a tag on back of tcase that has the number it is.

    Hi, i bought a 2004 Rubicon and the transfer case is 231. Now I dont know what they changed and what I have to change to put it original. Do I need to change the transmission? Or does everything fit normaly and only the transfer case?

    • @Colby_boo_brawner
      @Colby_boo_brawner 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      gregory montanez , it’s more likely that the Jeep was misrepresented as a rubicon when it was not. It’s very easy to find out. It’s should have Dana 44’s front and rear and electric lockers front and rear. Or just call the dealer and give them your vin# and they’ll tell you exactly what it rolled of the assembly line as.

    • @CardinalOffroad
      @CardinalOffroad  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      texaskiteboarding the silver and red tag should have it on there. Some will say 241OR but not all of them. It will also have the ratio stamped on the tag as well. This tag is located on the back where the fill hole is. Hope that helps.

      Arizona Cardinals yes the 241 is pretty much a direct swap. Although it’s a little taller and you’ll have to do the wiring if you want the Speedo and 4x4 light to work.
