I lost 70 lb in 4 months with no exercise going Keto and one meal a day. I kicked it off up in Colorado when I had to do snow plowing like twice a day for a week, so the keto flu went by pretty quickly and I got straight into ketosis and just stayed there. I wound up fasting for a week towards the end of my weight loss period. Cutting the carbs and the frequency of feeding was just life-changing. All the way down to things like sun exposure no longer bothering me like it used to. It's amazing how many things the inflammatory Cascade from the standard American diet can cause.

Agree, I’m afraid the new generation will think it’s normal to have the majority of citizens in this country obese. I would recommend they watch movies of the 1960’s and 50’s to see this new American body did not exist before - and got nothing to do with calories. People were trimmed and slim without much effort.

The food pyramid from my childhood in the 1960's got it so wrong and made me very sick and inflamed.
I'm turning it all around at age 63!
I'm up to walking 2 miles a day with my dogs and I no longer eat; sugar, fast foods, tons of carbs, wheat, soda, seed oils juice or processed foods.
I just got off Prilosec for acid reflux after 30 years and I'm healing my gut with intermittent fasting and keto.
It feels so good to be very close to my weight and fitness goal's finally!

Doctor Sean is the one that helped made things "click" I wish I could see him in Australia. I do need a little help and discipline but the few times I am getting in the sprints I feel amazing. I also agree with eliminating the junk, I felt like a bag of shite after Christmas and know, I've been improving my eating and it was such a huge relief that I'm on the right track, feeling like crap really emphasized that for me lol.
What is scary is seeing the love handles and overweight kids, even my cousin's children. I didn't say anything this year but it's such a huge concern for me as a teacher to see obese kids. Thankfully, my son has self discipline and intrinsic motivation to look after his health and makes an effort to improve his health and physic as long as I continue to support him at home by cooking meat, eggs, drinking full fat milk and getting out and about in nature and we even go to the gym together. I'm 40 and he's 15. I have a long way to go I think but this is my year and I'm ready for it.

I’ve had four dexa scans over the last year as I’m currently participating in what is the largest clinical study for endurance marathon runners. When the study started all runners are on carb diets run the Sydney marathon and then 6 months we got split into two groups carb or keto for a further six months and we repeat the same marathon. My dexa scan results separate the visceral fat score/volume from Subcutaneous fat score/volume and further from that fat percentage in various body locations eg, trunk, left leg, left arm etc. whilst MRI is the more accurate getting periodic dexa scans can also prove to be of value to track changes. My visceral fat dropped to nothing after being on keto for 3 months while maintaining the same weekly running mileage (80km a week). Endurance running doesn’t increase visceral fat when your body is trained to efficiently burn fat by producing ketones. I think he needs to be mindful of 😊inferring that endurance running causes visceral fat assuming all endurance athletes are using glucose and on high carb diets. A lot of endurance runners still include weekly sprint and interval work in their schedule. It really comes down to eliminating diet sugar, carbs and processed foods.

I recently watched a documentary on what did peasants of the Middle Ages eat ?
They reported about 3,500 calories was consumed. Mostly starch from grains. Meat was not in abundance to eat.
But the peasants survived winter because of body fat. Turn your thermostat to 50 so your pipes don’t freeze this winter. Your body will burn energy for heat. The grains were not able to keep them from loosing weight all winter long.
This accumulation of visceral fat is natural when you eat for winter. The 68 year old patient that removed processed foods and removed his visceral fat by diet alone basically ate thru a winter with low energy from diet. This is a powerful anecdotal example.

Dr OMara says that the prescence of love handles indicate visceral fat like your saying. I think he likes them because its all better for some people or all probably that you get the reality of your visceral fat situation is unavoidable with a mri, especially with people that are TOFIs, they especially need a MRI sometimes i imagine to admit to themselves that although they are thin on the outside they are fat on the inside. Id like to get one if I had the budget for it but since stopping processed food and sugar Im losing visceral fat fast. Sprinting next haha.

I just have one question when health coaches always automatically think that our auntcestors were always healthy? They probably had many diseases and lived a short life. We have to look what our body needs are and what's good for us now. We're not living in times when there were no pollution and our air and oxygen was very clean, however we had no knowledge about health and diseases. We must adapt to what's going on now. You cannot 100% right about what you're doing because if food doesn't kill you then pollution will, if pollution doesn't kill you a disaster or accident will. You have to be very lucky to survive all these issues. It's a great hope to keep trying 😊 but no one is correct!

    • @Tradefy

but for what you put in your body you are in full control. You can try out things and learn from it. If you don't try you won't know whats good for you and I promise, if you never tried carnivore, give it a try for a week and if you should try fasting as well. You will feel like 16 again.

I have a watch and two scales that measure BF, visceral fat, muscle mass, etc. The only one that seems even remotely accurate is the watch. And it’s unreliable. I say this because whenever I drop weight on the scale..it says it’s muscle being lost. I’ll do a 24 hour fast, the scale will show a loss of three pounds, and it shows that I lost three pounds of muscle with BF and VF increasing. I can see in the mirror that I’m gaining muscle. I know a lot of people recommend these scales, but I recommend saving your money.

Reducing fat is a good indicator you are improving your health, but it is not the whole story.
