The soundtrack of Buffy The Vampire Slayer introduced me to this song when I was a teenager, and 23 years (!!!) later I am still as pumped when I listen to it!
I discovered when I lived in Hollywood. I know Hollywood. I'm someone that didn't fit so good. Southern and a good guitarist but perhaps more of a homeboy than most. I was used to feeling snubbed. I saw them in a little coffee house and what nice people. After that I wrote to Bob and what a man he responded! I fully support them and believe him honestly one of the great rock lyricist and performer of our time. I felt honored seeing the first lineup with Tobin and Mitch. Mitch man cranked it out and when he hit that Les Paul through that orange it was like s bomb going off. Love You guys.
This song reminds me of my best friend/brother and I playing 2006 NCAA football. I would alway be Wisconsin and he would alway be Penn State. He died a year ago from alcoholism and I really miss him🥺😢😭
I was playing that game with a 8 year old kid once. I must have been 26. I was pretty much spiking the ball in his face. Until his stepmom reminded me you're supposed to let little kids win. So I did but seriously fuck that kid.
Does anyone know that the Strokes were highly influenced by this band? Albert Hammond Jr said that recently in an interview. He said they were listening to them a lot when they were making their now legendary album "Is This It?" Just a cool thing to think about.
This is a brilliant song performed and captured perfectly This show was the best. Called Recovery and on each and every Saturday morning. Was on our national government TV station ABC In the 90s in Australia. They hosted and played all the most amazing music. The best artists were still releasing and touring the best stuff. Nothing like this anywhere near mainstream audiences now. There’s always TH-cam
I had a small group of 4th graders singing a madrigal called "Barbara Allen " one year. . It's one of my fondest memories of that time. I wonder if your sister was in the choir. I dont remember students names. It's a really long time ago.
I love Doug but the guitars in this song are quite basic... that's the nature of GBV. Like the other person said, J Mascis and Doug from Built to Spill flaunt a lot more of their skills.
I could be totally wrong, bordering on delusional...but I swear I have seen Jim McPherson wearing that same shirt in another video...except it was a Breeders video or a live performance.
like this song but what the fuck is it about really? What the fuck is he doing that he doesn't want to do around this person? What power compels him and to do what? If your not yourself in any situation or in any company then you are under a spell of some kind. Yes the answer is he is under a spell.
Wrong. With an account like "DallonsRightNipple," I can see there is some favoritism here. Any "cover" of GBV is going to be far less superior due to the very notion of the attempt itself. Spend sometime listening to the band and you'll see what I mean. Till then... and until the end of time... you're wrong.
Jack War it was an opinion, not a fact and mainly it was meant to be put across in a jokey manner. This song is great, they do seem like I good band but I am not interested in listening to anymore of there stuff. I just like the way Fallon styles songs. Sorry for the confusion or ignorance Which I had 3 months ago
Bob Pollard was my 4th grade social studies teacher! He used to sing to us all the time in class.
That is literally the most jealous I've ever gotten over a TH-cam comment. That's amazing!
Yup. Lincoln Elementary in Dayton, Ohio. My brother and sister had him as well.
stories!!!
Ohhkay, kizz. Today... today we're gonna talk about... about VOTING! *High kick*
mesupermommy Very cool, my friend. What songs do you remember Bob singing?
Found this song when I was a kid on ncaa football 2006. This song, Dabaser by Pixies, and Me Myself and I by De La Soul were my favorites
That's the reason Im here. Because of ncaa football 06.
Train in vain was the best
I KNEW I WASNT CRAZY I KNEW I WASNT THE ONLY ONE HOLY SHIT
That was probably the NCAA game ever I'm from Maine so being able to play Maine VS UNH musket rivalry was awesome
Dude, that soundtrack is so epic lol that's how I found this song all those years ago. Been listening to GBV ever since
"one of the greatest bands that ever lived"
absolutely god damn right
Hardly anyone I know has heard of them. I’m kind of fine with that.
They kinda of faded out in the 80's like The Smiths and The Rumors.
unless you're going all the way
Does anybody actually understand how fucking awesome this song is?
dude this band is actually off the charts
And the fact that Bob Pollard threw a no hitter in college for Wright State????
The soundtrack of Buffy The Vampire Slayer introduced me to this song when I was a teenager, and 23 years (!!!) later I am still as pumped when I listen to it!
Haha the little move he does at :44 is such a moment
He went to rock school for that one, I know what you mean.
@@servantofzardoz The same rock school John Ennis sent Yo La Tengo to?
How does great music like this get overlooked? This is incredible!
One of the most perfect songs I've ever heard.
I work with the disabled and my favorite resident loves this song. It helps him to calm down and be happy. Only this version!
Sounds like hes enabled and has up syndrome
This band was way ahead of its time! Great song.
Y’know, watching this video makes me realize that Michael Cera might be able to play Bob at some point when he’s a little older.
Incroyable son !!! Merci buffy 😊
the greatest band that ever lived, indeed.
rocketsalad one of the greatest motherfuking songwriters to ever walk the earth
@@scottkinney1609 hell fucken yes, all praise to Bobby P, we are not worthy 🙌

the guitars on this version, especially that little riff at 1:32, omg
Doug Gillard. He's awesome
Love this song and band! Heard it on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and fell in love with other songs of the band!
can you or somebody tell me which episode???
This is a flawless, kickass performance. Lo-fi me arse, tight and strong
This song reminds me of my best friend/brother and I playing 2006 NCAA football. I would alway be Wisconsin and he would alway be Penn State. He died a year ago from alcoholism and I really miss him🥺😢😭
Instant goosebumps. Man I love GBV
Listen up, kids…. This is a prime example of a PERFECT power-pop song.
1:52 when Bob does his lil jumps it makes the song so much better
Guided by Budweiser ... Iove these guys
such a pop genius, wont be given proper recognition in his lifetime
Anybody heard this song on NCAA football 06?
They're quite good, I'm a bit of a fan now!
GBV - more hooks per song than any other band.
Reminds me of NCAA 06
literally just remembered this song for no reason and i too heard in NCAA 06 lol
+Robert Herrera I heard it on ncaa06 to
Best of the NCAA games and one of the best soundtracks period

"... to one of the greatest bands that ever lived" DIOS QUÉ CRITERIO ESTE TÍO, PREMIO NOBEL O ALGO
the up tempo version is the most kick ass. I wish they would do some of their songs double time in fact...
aussies loved them some gbv
Correct
Hells yeah! Bob and the boys bringin it.
2022: This is still gold and has attained true classic status.
Oh Uncle Bob Pollard killing it!
Ok I'll go along....they really are good, regardless of who backs up Pollard !
Been listening to this since I was in the teenage fbi!
Does anyone know that the Strokes were highly influenced by this band? Albert Hammond Jr said that recently in an interview. He said they were listening to them a lot when they were making their now legendary album "Is This It?" Just a cool thing to think about.
The solos gave a strokes vibe
Well, if you’ve ever seen the video for The Strokes, “Someday,” then, yeah 😁

Great Song ^_^
GENIUS!!!
this fucking song is amazing. how am i hearing this for the first time today?
I don't disagree they are one of the greatest rock bands that ever lived
It's amazing they are not more known! They aren't weird sounding, anyone who likes classic rock could like them.
Indeed. Robert Pollard is a boomer. He makes music inspired by his classic rock heros
One of three best bands to come out of Dayton, Oh.....GBV, Brainiac and The Breeders
This song went hard in NCAA 06
set the style that woul devolpe in early 2000s pop punk and now scene music
Doug Gillard looks like Malcolm McDowell a bit during this.
Who else is watching this in 2020 bc they’re locked down due to Covid_19?
Love this tune; still trying to find it on karaoke....
1:39 is for the 8 people who disliked this.
Fucking too good!
Can't remember if I watched this tho
Pollard and Gillard in top form here! Drummer is struggling / not enjoying himself!
I don't think Jimmy Mac has ever struggled
Ample evidence Doug Gillard is the greatest guitarist of the indie scene. Dude could have played with Zeppelin or the Buzzcocks with equal success.
Doug Marstch or J. Mascis for me
I love Doug but the guitars in this song are quite basic... that's the nature of GBV. Like the other person said, J Mascis and Doug from Built to Spill flaunt a lot more of their skills.
I would like to thank Buffy the Vampire Slayer for introducing me to this band.
dudes rock
Is that the breeders drummer? Jim macpherson?
Yep
Will someone please fuckin tell me why
Todd Barry plays guitar?
Lmaooo
so much good
best band ever
THEY MISSED FILMING THE POLLARD STAGE MOVES
I could be totally wrong, bordering on delusional...but I swear I have seen Jim McPherson wearing that same shirt in another video...except it was a Breeders video or a live performance.
Uncle Bob and the boys give hope for this failed race...or at least help me enjoy the ride.
One of the slyest commentaries yet about being an adult
that dude from blues clues great at the guitar
lmao!! ,,,ya just gotta luv bob!! ,,,,i do!!! (*SW
I miss NCAA
rock fucking solid
There is not enough alcohol in this performance but its still very very good
Dallon Weekes led me here.
Anyone know when/where this performance took place?
the IT crowd brought me here
It may be the best way to get here.
good stuff
I see. Have you tried turning it off and on again?
buffy and willow !
Yann capezzone de joannon and Dallon
What documentary is this from?
👀
Dude, Robert Pollard looks like Tucker Carlson, the better version of course.
who was that at the beginning. they were definitely right.
Jim macpherson,, pacer the amps song
How did I even find this band?
Polaris Pandora radio station for me.
This was on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Soundtrack

I always thought this was their sell-out tune
Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
If by that you mean it helped GBV sell out all their shows on the tour, then yes, of course 😁
