ONE MAN triumphs in the King George VI Chase: First of two wins in the race for the famous grey

What a talented chaser One Man was at up to three miles - here he is following up victories at Ayr and Haydock Park earlier in the season with success in the 1995 King George VI Chase - actually staged early in 1996 at Sandown Park, after the abandonment of the original contest at Kempton.
Sent off favourite for the Cheltenham Gold Cup on his next start, he travelled powerfully until his stamina suddenly gave out two out and and it would ultimately be when dropped back to two miles that he arguably had his greatest day of all in the 1998 Champion Chase.
