    This hot pot Oyster and Pork Kimchi Nabe will warm you up especially in cold days. :) Dusting and sauteing will give the oysters a pleasant aroma and keep them from shrinking when reheated. This will make a big difference and bring out the flavor of the oysters so you should definitely try it out. You can also use pacific cod, squid or yellowtail instead of the oysters. (*^^*)

    I'm Korean and I might try this! Its a nice differentiation from what I normally eat and I love the addition of the udon noodles (one of my favorite noodles). I can't wait! Tip: if you add more kimchi than this recipe shown, you don't need extra garlic bc there is a lot of garlic within the kimchi itself.

    I made this tonight, and it was FANTASTIC. The only change I made was to double it since there were going to be three hungry people at the table (and we ate the whole thing). I would say that frying the oysters first really did make them taste great, and I would definitely do it again (remembering to keep the pan from getting too hot since the sesame seed oil has a very low smoke point). A GREAT recipe, and a total success. Thanks!

      CologneCarter Where do you live? In the US, most of these ingredients (except the oysters) are cheap. The kimchi might be harder to find, but it's usually cheap as well.

    • @CologneCarter
      @CologneCarter 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      zippadeedooday I'm in Germany. Most of the ingredients are only available in an Asian supermarkets and apart from pork belly non of it comes cheap. Japanese ingredients are especially pricey compared to Chinese. Somewhere in between are Korean and Indian food items. Asian supermarkets here in town are small compared to regular grocery shops. You can get few fresh stuff, likes vegetables or mushrooms. Very little cooled stuff like kimchi, no fresh meat at all. Most is canned good, dried goods, seasonings and frozen fish. There are some where you can't get any fresh food at all.

      CologneCarter Interesting to know! I live in Southern California where there is a huge Asian population and so there are tons of Asian (Vietnamese, Korean, etc.) supermarkets that are even bigger than regular American grocery stores. This is often because they'll have smaller shops inside the supermarket. I also see lots of non-Asians shop for groceries there because they are cheaper than regular American stores. And they have usually have half the store fresh food, especially a lot more seafood variety!
