      For win10 after I did a clean isntall, it will detect the chipset, SSD,HDD,GPU etc and get all the drivers?!?! Which is better, let win10 get all the drivers or I manually download each one and install them?

      Hello! Just have a quick question.
      Upgrading my build. Going from Intel I7 7700k -> Ryzen 7 5800x.
      I currently use a SATA SSD and a HDD (system imaged from my SSD just in case).
      I am installing a brand new, never used M.2 SSD for the upgrade, and I plan on installing a fresh OS on it.
      My question is this:
      Can I (after boot up and all drivers are updated, etc and everything is solid) simply plug in my old SSD & HDD WITHOUT deleting the said info on those drives??? (Keep in mind that I would shutdown the computer, plug those in, load up bios, make sure boot priority is still going to my M.2, then load to desktop).
      If I keep my boot priority on the M.2, my old SSD OS shouldn’t interfere with it correct?
      Thank you!

    I just want to put this out there. While making a windows 10 media installation tool, while using a 8GB or higher USB ( I used 2.0 both I believe are fine) I ran into the problem, it stated there needs to be 8gb or more of storage on the C: drive, even though I was attempting to JUST put the media creation tool onto the USB.
    You need to have 8gb or more on the C: drive regardless of where you set up the creation tool. After clearing space, I was allowed to follow the steps in this video just fine. This is just an FYI for anyone who runs into the problem I did.

    • @AndrewThrasher1987
      @AndrewThrasher1987  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh that's a tricky one. If the computer came with Windows 7 instead of Vista you'd be fine, but Vista doesn't qualify for the free upgrade. If you're brother installed a legit version of Windows 8, then you should be able to upgrade to Windows 10, but you might have to do it a little different than the video. Basically use the "Upgrade this PC" option after downloading the media creation tool. It will take longer, but once it finishes you're computer should be activated on Windows 10, and if there's weirdness you could run through this video exactly to perform a clean install. Hope that helps!

    hi Andrew, I'm replacing an broken hdd for a ssd. I don't know if the computer was running windows 10, it might be an earlier version (it's not mine). If I boot the computer will I need a key to download the fully functioning version of windows 10? And would I loose the office (word etc.)? greetings from Holland!

    • @AndrewThrasher1987
      @AndrewThrasher1987  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the computer had Windows 10 before, you won't need a key. If it didn't have Windows 10, you'll need a key of some sort. The good news is that if it has a sticker with a Windows 7 or 8 key (that you can still read), you can enter that and it will still work for a free upgrade to Windows 10.
      Unfortunately Office will be gone for sure. If it was an older version and they have their key, it should be possible to reinstall. Otherwise, I'd probably recommend LibreOffice if they can't justify an Office365 subscription.
      I just discovered Dutch pop music (starting with Benny Sings) and love it. Cheers!

      I’m not really in to his music. You should check out Maan or Nielson, they do sing in Dutch but their voices are amazing. Kind regards, Simon

    This video was really helpful but i still had a problem that i ran into. Everything went smoothly till after windows was installed onto my new ssd. Right after the installation was completed, I opened the boot menu, and there were only the option to choose the installation media or boot manager, so i chose the boot manager. Then i had to choose to boot from my ssd or hdd (windows 10, volume 3 & windows 10,volume 6 respectively) so i chose the ssd. The windows logo and the circling dots came up and said it was preparing drivers and getting ready or something. But after a while, a blue screen came up and was something like this:
    Recovery
    Your Pc/Device needs to be prepared
    Error code: 0xc000000e
    You’ll need to use recovery tools
    Press enter to try again
    Press F1 to enter Recovery Environment
    Press F8 for startup settings
    Press Esc for UEFI Firmware settings
    Press F9 to use a different operating system
    I’ve installed windows 10 to the ssd, deleted all partitions on it, and reinstalled again multiple times. I’ve ran the windows automatic recovery thing but nothing works. The same error comes up. When i boot windows on my old hdd, i can see that the new ssd has the windows folders (Program files, Program files (x86) etc).
    Any help? Thanks in advance

      Make sure you just have the ssd connected to the pc at the time. Boot from the usb, hit install now and do another clean install. If that fails grab another usb, put windows on that and try again.

      Hello! How did it work out for you??
      Just have a quick question.
      Upgrading my build. Going from Intel I7 7700k -> Ryzen 7 5800x.
      Thank you!

      Start by copying all your important files from C drive to another partition (can be D or E drive, depends on how your HDD is partitioned), Shut down PC.
      Disconnect your HDD, connect SSD, install Windows. Once you have set it up to your satisfaction, connect your HDD back. Start the PC, go into BIOS/UEFI, select SSD as the boot drive, save and exit. PC will restart into OS on SSD, now open the old C drive on the HDD, copy all the files important to you to another partition (if there are still any or if you forgot in the first place), after you are absolutely sure, format that partition (old C drive) to get back disk space.

    • @AndrewThrasher1987
      @AndrewThrasher1987  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      With Windows 10, the activation is tied to the motherboard. If you upgrade to an SSD, but the SSD fails and you put the HDD back in, it would work like nothing changed. If you stuck the HDD into another computer (motherboard) that has had the same version of Windows 10 activated, it should pick up that system's activation and kind of work. If you moved the HDD to a computer with no Windows 10 activation, it would (probably) boot as an unactivated version.
      I hope that helped. The HDD doesn't really get deactivated, but nor is the license carried with it. It's all about the destination motherboard.

Then do this clean install should I boot it first with the 3.5 HDD then do the clean install after? Also, the pc I ordered does not have integrated Graphics just the GPU will the clean install process also add drivers for the graphics card and CPU? Much Thanks !

    • @AndrewThrasher1987
      @AndrewThrasher1987  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Congrats on the new system, my desktop has an RX580 and it's still a great card. I'd boot up once with the original HDD, just to make sure everything works before you take it apart. Once you see that it's working, power down, pop in the SSD and get started. Windows will automatically get drivers for everything, but you'll want to update your GPU drivers yourself from the AMD website, as the Windows update ones aren't the newest. That's the only driver I bother to manually install, since driver updates are usually more rare and less meaningful for other components.
