I have to say this was one of easiest videos to follow and helped me to understand the installation of the windows process without having to partition the drive. I almost threw out my favorite laptop but took a chance and bought a cheap $23.99 119 gb SSD and now it's better and faster than when I bought it.

This is the first time I've done this and it gives me confidence to upgrade my other laptop. Thanks so much. I've watched other videos on youtube on how to change hard disc, yours is the best, especially when you suggested we search for the service manual from the manufacturer as a guide. This really helps. Thank you Dave, simple IT for dummies style TH-cam videos (for me), Samsung All-in-one 500gb HDD just failed and I had no recovery disk/usb. Using this and the 'create media video' I have just got my PC back up and going with a 2TB drive. Great work buddy and I'd highly recommend your simple, easy to follow but detailed demos. Can't tell you how much this has helped at this difficult time with no shop repairs possible. Thank you.
Hi Dave, many thanks for this video. I made a few searches on TH-cam to replace my SSD drive with a new SSD drive. Finally it was your video it made it seamless and smooth to replace SSD and to install Windows 10. I now have a new laptop which works great! Thanks again. Dave, Here we are in November 2023 and I found your video! Thank you for the great tutorial to get me up and running again here in Pensacola, FL, USA! I did buy a 240GB SSD and then just now looking at my old, dead HHD, it is 500GB. Oh well! Your video got me up and running again! Cheers Mate!
A million thanks to you my guy, my computer was toast my dad said my hard drive was completely broken, my computer had a system32 error that I had been trying to fix on my own. I replaced my computer with a 1tb hard drive, it took all night but it worked! Thanks again :D

Thanks a lot for the instructions. Just replaced hdd with ssd on my 10 year old laptop and the boot time has gone down from 4 mins to 40 secs!!! Keep up the good work.
My 4 year old HP Notebook is dying, but not dead yet. First, I tried a Windows recovery/reinstall. Took about 30 hours to download and install. Afterwards, there was no difference in the speed of my laptop. I ordered a new SSD for it and it's on the way. Poking around TH-cam on the subject and found you :D I had to laugh at the estimated times you said it would take to install. You make is sound like it just took a couple hours to install, it took a couple days on my limping laptop. I sure hope it goes this smoothly, when the new drive comes. Thanks for the video.
I'm glad to say my laptop is running like a champ with the new hard drive. The new windows install took hours instead of days. My laptop was much simpler to change things once I got the back cover off. I did not have to remove the drive or detatch the keyboard. The memory and the hard drive were easily accessible from the underside after removing the back cover.
Thanks very much Dave. My hard drive failed on my laptop, I tried every recommended option in the troubleshooting menu, even tried some browsing in command prompt. Looks like the drive went bad. I was able to replace the hard drive with an SSD and reboot a new windows 10 from following your other video. Thanks a bunch for the guide
Hey I used both this video and usb windows 10 video, both worked great. I upgraded my HP to ssd drive and ram and loaded windows. All easy thanks to ur videos

Not sure if you can tell, but I am ON TOP OF THE WORLD after not having my PC running for more than 2 months now... THANK YOU for making these videos!!
Brilliant! You really helped me. I was a little worried about Windows 10 asking me for my product key from before “the drop”. I read that it should remember it from the Bios/Motherboard. Thankfully, I did everything you said and Windows 10 remembered my key!🤗 Amazingly clear and precise video. Thank you.
I watched this and the companion video on how to download Windows onto a USB and they were excellent. I'm a complete novice and this saw me though the whole process. Thanks Dave. The only problem is that now I have no sound. If anyone reading this knows why installing a new SSD and Windows would completely stop the sound from working, do let me know!
I've been searching for this video where I can direct install windows into SSD by replacing the HDD. But everywhere, it's either HDD+SSD install or clone windows. Thank you.
Thank you so much. My laptop's hard drive recently died without any warning, and I lost a ton of information as a result (better remember to back things up next time). Anyway, in order to have it replaced, Best Buy was going to charge me $300 dollars packaged with a repair service that I wouldn't even need. After watching your video, repairs amounted to approximately $150 dollars.
I am trying to upgrade my moms old laptop but i cant get into the bios as it was locked by the samsung dealership. I will add an additional 4GB memory (total 8GB) and a new 500 GB SSD. I will put in the 500 GB SSD into my desktop and install Windows 10 64bit then install the SSD back to the laptop. Then buy license. I did this on my laptop that had problems installing Windows 10 pro and it worked beautifully. The traditional method kept reverting the windows 10 to windows 10 home edition. This method completely wiped the old data and accepted a new windows installation. Thankfully windows is a bit forgiving.
I have been looking for the solution for my hard drive disc which has been showing difficulty on starting up and I came up with the plan to change it but I don’t know how so this video is very clear on how to change it and I am thankful. Thank you so much and subscribed😅

Warnings: Turning off your computer or otherwise interrupting Windows Installation may destroy data or the entire HDD or SSD you are installing or reinstalling Windows on. Make sure your computer is plugged in before starting Windows Installation or any big operation (eg: system reset, System Restore)

You can't get it because that activation was offered as an OEM, meaning you don't have a code that you can use on other devices. If you had a code you bought separately you could have transferred it but you cant since you upgraded. Dont worry about the activation, other than customization you wont have any issues as far as I know

Awesome video and maybe do a video on how to replace the dvd drive with a caddy that holds another hard drive so you can store large files and photos as well.
Thank you for the video. Truly informative and helpful. I need to change the HDD of my son's laptop, which was busted, with an SSD. I already have prepared the bootable USB stick I made from my tower PC. The only question I have is whether the laptop when loading the Windows 10 from the USB on the SSD will read the Windows 10 key from (I suppose) the BIOS automatically. That would save me from purchasing a new Windows license. Original Windows were loaded in the busted HDD. I do not know how to retrieve the license key from BIOS. Thanks again. Greetings from Athens, Greece.
@@dohmshah6164 I finally tried it, as I had no other option. It worked. I believe it read the windows key from the bios. It never bothered asking me. Everything went smooth. I cannot believe how fast the laptop is now. No comparison of with the previous hdd.
Thanks was helpful but I went in circles for over an hour because all I saw was the window logo, so I kept trying to boot again and again, until when I saw the windows logo I took a picture of it to show a tech guy the next day, for some reason after trying many times and getting that far I decided to or just hit the enter key. Then bingo bango, I managed to proceed finally, now waiting on windows reimagining to install from my cd recovery disc. Whewww
Thank you very much and your a life saver 😊👍🏼 I managed to fix my busted laptop with this video 😊 the tutorial was so detailed, someone like me who did this for the first time was able to do it successfully 🥳
The way you created your USB tool in your previous video, doesn't it create any problem because of MBR or EFI file system or even Legacy or UEFI mode? Or is it just automatically detects the correct settings and boot accordingly?
Hi Dave. I have just watched your video on how to replace a failed hard drive. My laptop works ok but slow so was wondering if you have a video on how to set up and use an external sod drive to use as my boot up. If you don’t have a video of this will you be making one please. Thank you. Regards. Chas.
I reset my PC a few days ago, and basically managed to download windows 10 without the product key (because I didn't have it on a USB drive as it was asking) simply by signing up for a Windows account - I was able to change the product key back to the original (because I had it saved and didn't want to have to save the info. for a new Windows product key).
There are a ton of Windows 7 machines out in the world where their mechanical hard drives are failing or have already failed. If you install a brand new SSD in a windows 7 computer, how do you reinstall the original windows 7 operating system or can you just install Windows 10 instead?
I'm wondering whether you have a video dealing with how to clone an internal HDD in a PC on to a USB SSD that is bootible, to restore a that same PC. I have seen one brand of Back upper SW that says the HDD cannot be booted from such a USB SST. Can you help please?
Great video, thanks very much. Do you have any videos of creating a dual boot system? I need two separate drives that I can choose on start up to work with. I was going to disconnect the old one and follow the above to add the new HD and then reconnect the old one and then choose the new drive as the main boot, but with an option to use the other when needed (by rebooting). I dont want to partition a single drive as I need two different environments and cba with a vm.

I have same problem. I'm worry about the windows key-will my laptop read it automatically or do i need to buy new windows 10?
@@dohmshah6164 I finally tried it, as I had no other option. It worked. I believe it read the windows key from the bios. It never bothered asking me. Everything went smooth. I cannot believe how fast the laptop is now. No comparison of with the previous hdd.
@@chrscb wow. Good to hear all went well. thank you for your time!
thank you so much for this video. It was 100% accurate and exactly what I was looking for. I just subscribed to your channel. keep up the great work!
Thank you for explaining the windows 10 install.
brilliant video ,clear and to the point ,,full marks.
Worked great! Thanks for a easy to follow video.
Yeah, I just subscribed. This video helped me a lot. Thank you.
Whewww
at 7:49 what can I do when it doesn't "find" my brand new SSD and says " We couldn't find any drivers"?
Great video! Thank you, this helped immensely!
Thank you very much and your a life saver 😊👍🏼 I managed to fix my busted laptop with this video 😊 the tutorial was so detailed, someone like me who did this for the first time was able to do it successfully 🥳
Very clear instructions. Make life much simpler. Thanks
It was so helpful for me... so easy to understand... thank you 😊👍
The way you created your USB tool in your previous video, doesn't it create any problem because of MBR or EFI file system or even Legacy or UEFI mode? Or is it just automatically detects the correct settings and boot accordingly?
Hi Dave. I have just watched your video on how to replace a failed hard drive. My laptop works ok but slow so was wondering if you have a video on how to set up and use an external sod drive to use as my boot up. If you don’t have a video of this will you be making one please. Thank you. Regards. Chas.
Quite informative..thanks a lot.!!! Just wanted to ask that when does it ask for the product key of windows?
I reset my PC a few days ago, and basically managed to download windows 10 without the product key (because I didn't have it on a USB drive as it was asking) simply by signing up for a Windows account - I was able to change the product key back to the original (because I had it saved and didn't want to have to save the info. for a new Windows product key).
Do you need to install drivers for the wifi or touchpad to work?
There are a ton of Windows 7 machines out in the world where their mechanical hard drives are failing or have already failed. If you install a brand new SSD in a windows 7 computer, how do you reinstall the original windows 7 operating system or can you just install Windows 10 instead?
Thanks for uploading this video. How we keep the original license that came with the laptop originally?
What about the drivers of a particular laptop? Will it be pre installed in the windows 10 usb?
The drivers for the laptop brand can be downloaded and installed from its respective website. Like the sound and audio driver etc.
