So it's refreshing to see someone just run through what the average student would use the iPad for! Thanks for the help!

But also, this guy is hilarious. Thank you my guy, you helped me decide on the iPad Air for my schooling
Finally someone that actually is helpful. All other videos are like "iPad Pro has 120 HZ and iPad Air has 60 HZ so iPad Pro is better" but we don't want to know that, we want to know the features of it and what unique things you can do on the iPads. This video gives a perfect explanation on what an iPad Air can do for you just simply with school work and not the awful comparisons just because Air is limited to 60 HZ.
This practical video was waaaaaaay more useful than other Top TH-camrs Reviewing the iPad. It puts things into much better perspective and gives a more honest light to the product! Awesome video, excellent work! I will use your video as reference when someone brings up the same questions

@@itsnika3309 Hey, sorry for the delayed answer but I recommend the 256gb. In my iPad I only have college apps and documents + TH-cam + AppleMusic (no pictures, no social media apps, no iMessage plus I deleted most of the Apple base apps that I don’t use) and I’m already near the 50gbs of usage 🫣
@@itsnika3309 and about the other question, the iPad has been great! Definitely a game changer. Everything uploads fast, no delays, great graphics, and great note taking. I have taken tests and quizzes with the iPad and the experience has been sooooo smooth, no problems at all. The Wifi+Cellular is a bit of an expense ngl but to me it’s been very worthy because my college WiFi is trash and sometimes my home WiFi is too 🤣
THANK YOU for talking about and showing us what the visual/virtual performance gap is now between 60hz with the air now that it has the powerful M1 chip, and the 120hz on the pro. Was really wondering how much the M1 helped virtual lag with 60hz, and now I can see it’s definitely well improved! Shockingly haven’t seen anyone really do that; you helped me decide that yes I do want to purchase. Bravo!! Much love. 🥰

11 months late, but I’ve been thinking of getting an iPad air to upgrade from my 2015 macbook pro and 9th gen iPad, and finding practical reviews like this one, from a student like myself, is really helpful (even if I’m already decided on it, haha). Thanks for doing this!
I’m about to try and convince my dad so I can get this because i am currently using the 6th gen iPad, but my classmate let me use his iPad for a group assignment that we were working on for a class and as I was using I felt a difference in the performance and features and I really loved it. I would always get annoyed when the on screen keyboard would get in my way of my reading when I am typing at the same time so that was a plus for me.
Thank you so much for making this video. I have been on the fence between the new iPad Air vs the Pro. After seeing this, you helped me decide the Air is the way to go. Also, I will check out the items you mentioned. Finally, loved the fact you are a student at UMich. My niece is as well. Go blue! 💙💛
I plan on getting the apple pencil and a paper like screen protector, but I’m also left handed, and my only worry is glitching, sensory issues, ect. Have you had to deal with any issues like that? Paper, cramps, annoying ink, smudging, are some of the reasons I’m wanting to switch over to digital note taking for college!

Cheers on making a video that actually shows use cases for the product in question. Typically the content of many videos focuses on the opinion of the person without actually showing how or why they have come to have this opinion. This rather shows both but leaves me (the viewer) to make a judgement for myself.
First time I saw the iPad 10th gen, I knew that I was going to get it. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA Having done that, I have no regrets whatsoever. The battery life is superb, the landscape camera is a winner for me, the shape is suitable for my carrying case. As part of my purchase, I threw in a case from ESR, and a Logitech Crayon to compliment my purchase. So far so good on my iPad. The Logitech Crayon works perfectly with it as well.
Loved the student perspective!!! Made it so easy to understand what you can do with the ipad in comparison to the other high class videos. Can you annotate on the book app or only highlight and read?
Thanks for the video, I always enjoy watching your take on stuff. Can't wait to get my starlight version come this friday! Gonna pick up my first magic keyboard with it as well.
I’ve had the 12.9 inch iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard and ApplePencil, and just bought the new iPad Air with 64 GB, but returned it. A student can buy the new Air for $549, but with Magic Keyboard at $300 that’s $849, or over $950 with ApplePencil, whereas students can get the MacBook Air for $899 from Apple’s education store. The Macbook’s 256 GB of storage and full operating system seems like a better fit for students. Thoughts?
Woah you’ve got a great point when when you put it that way. I have a 2015 MacBook Pro that I use for typing documents, handling storage, and photo/video editing. So the M1 iPad Air is just alluring bc I’d be able to annotate PDFs easier (applying to grad school right now), and give me super fast video rendering speeds (compared to my current MB). I’d agree with you though, going for the MacBook Air will give you the bigger screen and functionality - granted that’s what Apple’s pricing ladder does, it makes one product $150 less than the next best thing prompting you to spend more. I’m hoping for some potential iPad deals near the back to school season or Black Friday. Edit: I’ve used one of those usb Wacom tablets so I can write on PDFs, but the experience wasn’t ideal for me.
I personally have both the iPad Air and a MacBook and as a student I prefer the iPad over the MacBook, I personally only use my ipad for school and sometimes Apple TV but not downloading anything non school related. The note taking experience is top tier. I didn’t have the magic keyboard but a different keyboard case thats really high quality.
I haven't watched your video yet, but I personally think a refurbished 2018 iPad Pro 256GB from the Apple refurbished store ($599) is a better buy for students like myself. The lack of a ProMotion display on the latest iPad Air is a huge drawback for me personally. Both my MacBook and iPhone can go upto 120Hz, and whenever I use my iPad I can see each frame move past as a swipe through the home screen. The storage size is also a joke with the latest iPad Air. I understand Apple may have done lots of internal research on what buyers of the iPad Air use it for, but with the belief that upcoming releases of iPadOS getting even bigger in size, I think they should have started off with 128GB as the base model. The M1 chip is extremely powerful, and there is no way any student who just uses notability or other student specific apps would use all that power. The only one benefit is the increase in RAM from 4GB to 8GB on the M1 which might help with multitasking (split screening) down the road. With all the research I have been doing on upgrading my current iPad, looks like the 2018 or 2020 were a bit overkill for what they were designed for. The refurbished section marking down the original price by $150-$300 seems like a smarter way to go. Using Apple's website I found my total cost to come around $1,020 for the iPad Pro, Apple Pencil, Apple Folio Case, and AppleCare+. Although refurbished products are somewhat better than buying brand new due to the testing that goes with them, I also plan on buying it with my American Express to get that additional warranty. What are your thoughts Noah? BTW I've been watching you since I started college, and I'm really liking the production quality of your videos. Looking forward to seeing what the channel will look like in the coming years.
I agree! I got a refurbished 2018 iPad Pro with 256gb storage + Cellular all for around $530. Though, I also have a 2021 M1 MacBook Pro 14” with 512gb of storage and I use it as my main machine (I’m a software engineer and a student), so my opinion may be a little skewed. Even still, I tend to agree that students don’t really need the M1 iPad power, and that an older/refurbished model would be more than suitable for the average student’s needs. There also aren’t too many iPadOS applications that utilize such power, so there isn’t really a need for it imo.
I also agree that the 2018 iPad Pro is definitely better! I just returned the M1 iPad Air because refresh rate ended up being a dealbreaker for me. Maybe it’s because I’ve been using the iPad Pro daily for over a year, but I couldn’t adapt to the new Air at all.
Thanks for the great video Noah, but so far how do you feel about the battery compared to the Air 4? I know it’s the same battery capacity but did the M1 help extending its life even just a tiny bit? Since I’m using the Air 4 for a year now and as a heavy TH-cam/media consumer, the battery on this Air 4 isn’t the best in my case
I have M1 in iPad Pro and battery is waaaaaay worse than in my old iPad Air 3 with A13. I think that here will be same case - M1 will not be economical as less powerful A14.
@@Randomperson-lc4le I have an m1 ipad pro and my older regular ipad lasted more even after 2 years of use. The M1 chip really makes the difference in power, but apple pooped it with the battery life.
Now I know what it's like, as a car guy, to talk about the differences in a manufacturer's lineup to people who don't know anything about cars 😭 Thanks for the video, I might actually move back to Apple with the Air.
IPads are awesome , but only downside is ips display. If you study long like 4-5 hrs then you'll get blurry vision and that's not the same issue with OLED or AMOLED display tablets or laptop or mobile. Hope in future Apple brings OLED to air and lower iPads also. Other downside , Apple pencil is too heavy, so again if you're continously writing for hours then you'll feel pain in hands , there is Reddit section for that , maybe Apple needs design implementation from s-pen of tab s6 lite (not tab s4 or other note series). Last , we need Split view in portrait mode, one window near camera side and other near home button side and multiple floating Windows similar to Android devices. Overall ,powerful product but missing basics things.

Thank you! This is so helpful! I am about to buy an iPad Air 5 for my graduation gift before I start college in the fall. I will also get the paper screen protector that you mentioned. I am excited to start my digital notetaking experience with this product! Thanks again :)
Don’t get the paper like screen protector it’s very expensive and bad, it’ll wear down your $129 dollar Apple Pencil like mad and your screen will look awful, just get a tempered glass screen protector
IPad Air 5 and Apple Magic Keyboard is also working well for this Grandmom of 5 with one major drawback. External storage is needed for me even w/ 256 Gigs. I do use iCloud but it isn’t practical for everything. I “retired” my MacBook Air 2011 long ago, now finding I prefer iOS even if I went for a new iPad Pro 12.9 at some point. What external storage is strictly plug and play without having to first format? (Even tho your video is aimed at college students who grew up w/ technology it’s one of the easiest to follow and understand for older generations. Please keep ‘em coming.)
This is an excellent review showing the PRACTICAL USES rather than just specs and comparisons (like most other reviewers). I really appreciate this.

@@JahnaiyaSutherland which case you got?
Love the new way of showing the capabilities of iPad. Thanks

This iPad is a winner - M1 with 8gb Ram - longevity + value

Excellent review! I really appreciate yr video!
Great video. I was able to see how I would use it rather than just a bunch of specs. Thank you.
fantastic video, really enjoyed the pace!
The iPad Pro 2018 has an A12X processor, which really didn’t age well.
@@jocey4394 do you think it is still worth it?
@@chetachi_ Hey, where'd you buy the refurbished one from?
Thanks for the great video Noah, but so far how do you feel about the battery compared to the Air 4?
I know it’s the same battery capacity but did the M1 help extending its life even just a tiny bit? Since I’m using the Air 4 for a year now and as a heavy TH-cam/media consumer, the battery on this Air 4 isn’t the best in my case
I have M1 in iPad Pro and battery is waaaaaay worse than in my old iPad Air 3 with A13. I think that here will be same case - M1 will not be economical as less powerful A14.
@@karolstumski really? I saw. Comparison videos that had the air running out faster than pro... Maybe it comes with time
@@Randomperson-lc4le I have an m1 ipad pro and my older regular ipad lasted more even after 2 years of use. The M1 chip really makes the difference in power, but apple pooped it with the battery life.
Nice review, I have an IPad Air Generation 3, I’m watching this video with it, the thing about iPad airs is there so light, it’s great 😊
Now I know what it's like, as a car guy, to talk about the differences in a manufacturer's lineup to people who don't know anything about cars 😭 Thanks for the video, I might actually move back to Apple with the Air.
Yesssirrrr😎😎😎
Excellent review 🔥🔥🔥
Enjoyed the video, as a fellow student the comment at 5:34 had me screaming.
I see many comments on the battery life of this Air 5 and i'm considering not getting this. Still thinking ...
Overall ,powerful product but missing basics things.
very interesting that you mentioned the apple pencil part.
Yeah, I really miss the split view in portrait mode.
Thats just you bud
appreciate the video, I have been on the fence about getting an iPad for grad school and it helps to see it in a genuine real time - as a fellow WOLVERINE - GO BLUE and you have new subscriber!!! Keep up the good work
Hey man, do you know what is perfection? You just got it. Your videos are amazing and this is just best video and it convinced me to buy. also my youtube notifications are off from last 3 years and today i turned them on for your videos, will wait for your future content.
I’m new to your channel and I love your reviews! Great job!
But should I be concerned about the 64gb?
beautifully explained
Thank you for this review, it definitely helped get some insight :)
Thank you! This is so helpful! I am about to buy an iPad Air 5 for my graduation gift before I start college in the fall. I will also get the paper screen protector that you mentioned. I am excited to start my digital notetaking experience with this product! Thanks again :)
This is definitely not worth it I’m going to return it it’s not built like a 600 64gb product, probably going to get the pro11 inc
Don’t get the paper like screen protector it’s very expensive and bad, it’ll wear down your $129 dollar Apple Pencil like mad and your screen will look awful, just get a tempered glass screen protector

Very useful video❤ thx a lot
Same in the beggining I always take notes 3 weeks later I stop because I believe that I have photographic memory , I don't
This was a great video. Made up my mind after watching it. Thanks for the great review!
