That’s one of the main issues I have with greys. The surgeons do the nurse jobs AND the other doctor jobs. Usually a cardiologist would diagnose and prescribe medication, but they have the cardiothoracic surgeons doing that.
rSlash just be a good son twice over because 1) he asks something about his mom to show he pays attention to her, and 2) he takes joy in listening to her tell the story again, because it brings her so much joy to tell the story. Wholesome
Yes, even if she has dementia and doesn't realize she told the same story to you several times, enjoy that time with her. My mom had dementia and would often repeat the same story to me in her last years. I just pretended I hadn't heard it before. We lost her a couple months ago.
@@dx1450 I'm sorry for your loss there. It must be really hard for you to lose someone you hold dear. But hey, at least you had a really great time with her!
I do the same thing with my mom, lol. Although whenever she starts to tell a story, I immediately go, "Oh! I know this story!" And then go quiet while looking at her very excited because she tells the stories so well. She knows she's repeating stories, but I love hearing them, and she loves telling them so we're both happy.
Dr. Anderson is a legend. When I was sick in hospital a few months ago, the nurses were so overworked, so friendly and so consistent. Be kind to nurses, everyone, they are the real MVPs of a hospital.
I've done the exact opposite. Had a dr. recommend an antibiotic & I asked the nurse what she thought about it. Dr. Looked at me & I just said " she sees the side effects you've only read about." He replied "okay"
You are so right. I was in the hospital for nearly a month, I met almost all of the nurses in that department I've seen them at least twice a day if not more. I've seen my actual doctor maybe once a week
rslash asking his mom to keep repeating the story about the ring because he knows how happy it makes her is the sweetest thing on earth. SO many people would be annoyed with their parents/grandparents for repeating the same stories over and over, he's just such a genuinely good person.
I know! My mom gets like that when she tells people stories about me and my older brother from when we were little. She'll laugh so hard while telling the story and start snorting, and it'll make everyone else laugh with her. I love my mom.
Really sweet but really concerning. This sounds like the symptoms of dementia/Alzheimer's. My grandma had this. It started with retelling the same story. Then it went to asking what day it is every hour then eventually every two minutes. When my grandpa passed away my grandma called my dad the next day asking where he was. My dad was grieving himself and said "Mom, I can't do this every day." To which she replied "he is not dead is he?"
@@Magnarmis Could be, but let's think positively; I know some people who tell stories too much that they dont remember who they told the story to. and none of them have dementia, just too excited to tell a story.
Him mom may be a boomer, but she took advantage of an even stupider boomer, because she bought $10,000 worth of rings for 10% of their actions value, their probably worth more from inflation
I've had to get an IV in the neck. I used to be a drug addict and ruined my veins. I've been sober over 6 years, but my veins are still wrecked. I had to get some medicine injected via IV and they went in to the only vein that still worked, in my neck lol it sucks but I'm better and that's what matters.
In truth an IV via the jugular is usually a CVC (central venous Cather) which uses a very long catheter and is a significant procedure that requires a “sterile” setup by a very experienced practitioner (often an anaesthetist) because it’s a major vein and if you mess it up would cause major issues.
Story 6: Gotta love those "Don't threaten me with a good time" stories. The dude told OP to quit if they didn't like it, OP found better opportunities, and OP quit
Story 4: Yeah as a person who makes and designs tattoos with symbols like that all the time, Pentagrams aren’t Satanic, that’s a stereotype brought on by Hollywood movies, in fact there are two different kinds that have different meanings. Pentagrams, (a star with its top point facing up inside of a circle) is a common symbol of protection, warding of Negative Energy, and protection from Negative or violent spirits, although when it comes to this symbol and putting it on your body as a tattoo you need to be EXTREMELY careful about how you do it since the pentagram is meant to absorb those energies and spirits to protect you from harm, however (like giving yourself a tattoo of a blue evil eye) you can actually become the vessel that absorbs those energies and spirits, doing the opposite of what the symbol is meant to do A Pentagal (exactly like a pentagram but the star is upside down) is a symbol of wealth, welcoming windfalls and good luck to come (this is also the more common one to see) I love doing these as tattoo designs since there’s so many different styles and ways to interpret it, and having a Pentagle as a tattoo is nowhere near as dangerous as a pentagram
When will managers/supervisors/bosses ever learn? If you're gonna pull the "if you don't like it, quit" card, chances are your employees WILL DO JUST THAT!!
The last place I worked, we had monthly meetings where the business owners (husband and wife) would always be sure to mention they don't want people to work there if they weren't happy. Then they'd complain all day every day when people were quitting left and right. If you run your business like crap and tell ppl to leave if they aren't happy, then don't be surprised if they leave lmao.
@@soleyen7539 If nothing else, they definitely use the wrong wording. Big difference between "don't work here if you're not happy" and "we don't want work to make you unhappy".
It applies to ultimatums in general. For example, if you ask your SO to choose between you and their dog or cat, they will very likely choose the dog or cat.
LMAO at the Walmart story. That employee is so relatable. "Want it for $10? That's what the computer says, go right ahead" so good exactly what one should do in that situation
Typically, if there's a discrepancy in price (ie two different prices for one item) they have to go with the cheaper of the two. It happened to me back when I went to buy Sonic 06 (it had just came out then, and nobody knew how buggy it was yet) and it was listed in two different places, at two different prices. They had to sell it to me for the lower price.
As a current Lowes employee I can speak on the lawn mower story: it sounds like the person who checked him out for the lawn mower sold it as a “pickup later” type deal, as opposed to a carry-with sale by mistake 😅 so that puts him on a list to be called every so often so he can pick up the item. This doesn’t happen often but it’s not unheard of lol
Oh, trust me, stuff like this happens daily. In IT we call it the "Lowes Lottery." Store employees find very inventive ways to accidentally give away free product.
For the first story, the IV in the jugular was definitely just a scare tactic. It uses a different type of catheter, the care for it is more complicated, it's more dangerous and it's def not easier to place it! :)
Rslash, I appreciate you asking your mom about the story of the rings, even if you've heard it hundreds of times, it clearly makes her day telling you all about the amazing deal she got on those rings. It's sweet that you ask her about it even if you probably know the story by heart at this point. Thank you for making me smile for your mom.
No idea why people are so adamant about doctors poking needles in them when it's the nurses who do it literally every day. Had a doctor poke me once, hurt like hell and i'll always request a nurse if i'm ever told my doctor will be poking me again.
It happens because the people who make shows and movies about hospitals don't know how it actually works and portrays the doctor as the one who does everything while the nurse is little more than a glorified assistant or customer service representative.
@@--julian_ Of course that can happen. Nobody has said it can't. After all, they are human too. The point being made is that things like iv's aren't in the doctors wheelhouse of responsibilities. It's, literally, part of what nurses do day in and day out. However, tv and movies have made it so people think the doctors do everything while nurses do next to nothing, which is completely false.
@@scottkendrix6231 i think it also depends on the country for me I think that any respectable doctor should be able to put on an iv. like what happens if its an emergency and there are no nurses around?
Yeah the upright pentagram is used for protection and bringing good forces to you and the inverted pentagram is to ward off evil. Also, the 5 pointed star is a pentagram but when enclosed in a circle (how it appears on necklaces) is called a pentacle. Just some fun facts😂
My grandma freaked out when she saw me wearing one as a teen. It was a upright pentacle with a dragon making the circle around it and she flipped her sh*t when she saw it. Didn't matter how many facts I had about the true meaning of it she just saw it as a devil sign. LOL I miss that necklace and she might have had a heart attack if she saw my BFF's necklace that had a skull in the middle! LOL
As a wiccan witch, upright pentacle represents earth, air, fire, and water. The point up is Spirit above all. With the point down, it represents the flesh - here and now - not acknowledging a higher spirit.
My family friend legit thought that people who were pagans were atheists/Satanists and didn't believe in Jesus. This was a few years before 2016, so I didn't know how best to tell her plus, she was like my grandmother.
@@Yumi_Jay Well, pagans as a general rule don't believe in Jesus, at least not as the Messiah or son of God. But it seems that to a lot of Christians, if you're not worshiping who they worship, you're worshiping the Devil. Pentagrams or pentacles are really more a pagan or wiccan symbol than satanic, but many of the more extreme envangelical type Christians just don't make that distinction.
Hi, rSlash. As a mom of a young adult, trust me: your mom knows she told you hundreds of times about the ring, but very happy you care enough to visit and ask. The story might also make her happy, but it's mostly you asking. My son offered several months ago to take me to a Asian market he knows about, but the trip hasn't happened yet. The fact he offered out of the blue still puts a smile on my face, and maybe in the next year or two he will finally take me. He's working a lot of overtime, plus his other responsibilities, so him taking his mom out for a day trip hasn't made it to the top of his priority list. Which is fine, he does a lot for me and with me.
Jeez, when do bosses learn? Never ever tell someone they should quit if they don't like it! They'll see it as an absolute win and just quit on the spot.
I know I did... Don't know what happened to that guy. I do know that, as I was walking out of the meeting room (that he spent 40 minutes *trying* to belittle me and me going "WTF are you talking about? It literally doesn't make sense.
Not going to lie, but I sort of understand that first story. When I was a kid I had appendicitis and I was stabbed 7 times in my right arm and 5 in my left. One of the nurses even got it in and let go of it letting it pop out. Then I got to spend the rest of the time waiting for my CT scan hearing them saying I was faking my stomach pain because I just wanted to go home at that point. Anyway because of that experience I have extreme anxiety of getting IVs or my blood taken, but I just tell the person who is doing it the story and say I need you to get it in one shot.
Nurses doing blood work or IVs are really understandable about fears regarding needles and horror stories. At least at my hospital, because oof have I had some doozies.
I have a similar story. I had to go to hospital after a car accident, and the nurse just pulled out the biggest needle I've ever seen. Like, this thing was the size of my forearm, and she just jammed it in entirely, with no regard for if she even found the vein or not. I've had a fear of needles ever since!
I had a surgery back in 2017. When I was staying in the hospital after the surgery, I had a needle for medicine and anesthesia, the usual stuff, but my parents and I suspected that the needle was placed incorrectly, because my arm would hurt, swell and get red every single time anything was put through it. Which, you know, should NOT happen. We tried telling this to the nurses, but they said it was fine and just put water through the needle to clean it or whatever. It took us telling them like 3 or 4 times for them to actually decide to take off the needle and put it in again. And when they did, guess what, *it was put incorrectly yet again*. It was fixed later and I only stayed in the hospital for a couple days but man was that just bad. So yea, careful with needles.
I know the feeling 😂 at one point in my life i had been stupid and injured my hand, my doctor informed me that it would require stitches and when i asked for him to at least numb my hand first, i was told no… i looked him dead in the eyes and told him VERY calmly that if he did it like that then i would not be responsible for my actions due to my fear of needles (AKA i might hit him) … he wisely decided that some glue would work just fine 😊
I have a serious fear of needles. I have passed out while getting a shot, and I nearly had to get an IV recently. Turns out sinus infections can get very serious. I couldn''t drink anything as I would puke directly afterwards, luckily I randomly got completely better, like literally I had some orange juice and every symptom just vanished within seconds.
Story 1: As someone with a doctor dad and a nurse mom, I can say: my dad has no problem figuring out whatever is wromg with me, but when dealing with any kind of sick care, I would always go to my mom, my dad just has no idea
As someone working in retail, I can confirm that if something rings up incorrectly and it’s in the customer’s favor, there’s absolutely no benefit to not just letting them take it at that price. The company fucks up communications and loading promos enough that I genuinely do not get paid enough for it to be my problem.
Story 1: management trying to do labor tasks after 20 years is my favorite type of entertainment. This doctor is also self-aware, which makes it so much better.
Ironically I’ve lived through that lawn mower story too. Except mine was with a grill. We got asked to come pick it up, it was the bigger more expensive model we didn’t pay for. We tried to tell them and the manager just yelled at us to get it out of the way and go. Years later we’re still using that bigger, nicer, more expensive grill. People can be dumb as hell.
lol, had it happen to me years ago lowes. bought a riding mower off the lot took it home. two weeks go by a lowes delivery truck shows up and drops a mower off.. two weeks after that I get a call my mower is there asking if i want to pick up or have it delivered for an extra $50... fuck it I go pick it up. ended up with 3 riding mower. I tried to tell the delivery dude something is messed up but he was like "fuck it, not my problem it says drop mower here so i drop mower here enjoy new mower" so when call 3 came in for my mower i just said fuck it if they want to give me another mower ill take another mower.
Ooh, I have a cool "buy stuff cheap" story! I was at a convention and I was checking out some hand-made leather accessories when a customer next to me asked the seller if he could pay with card. To fully understand the story - at that time a popular supermarket chain had this offer going that you got a sticker for X amount of money spend. You could then trade the stickers for a plushie from, let's call it "cutie gang" series. People were obsessed with them for some reason, everybody wanted these toys for their kids. So, I'm at that convention and the guy asks the seller about payment and the seller goes: "Yeah, you can pay with card, with this app, with cutie gang stickers..." I saw a chance and took it. "You can pay with cutie gang stickers?" I asked. "Hmmm... Yeah, you can!" the seller said. "So, if I bring you ten stickers, what can I get?" "Hmmm... A discount." Then I'd noticed these inexpensive leather pouches. "Can I get one of these?" "Yeah, sure." So the next day I was back with ten stickers. The woman from neighbour stall laughed at the seller asking why was he now charging stickers (he was doing it for his kid). So he got the stickers, I got the pouch and we both got a cool story to tell (idk if he tells it, but I do). And I used the pouch to carry tea bags to work with me - it was perfect size and this way I could bring different tea with me every day instead of having to keep all the tea boxes at work.
After watching RSlash for a while now, I've been telling my friend who works at an airport to get the crazy things his boss says in writing. The latest incident: My friend was already coming down with a cold thanks to the fluctuating temperatures that is just typical Midwest nonsense. One day while he's loading up the plane outside with his coworker, it starts pouring rain, freezing rain and hail all at once. Just crazy weather. So naturally, he is super sick afterwards and has to call off work the next day. So my friend's boss decides it's the appropriate and correct decision to blame my friend on not being prepared for unpredicted weather and getting sick and having to call off... *in a group text.* Like my friend _wanted_ to be so sick he could barely speak. Like he _wanted_ to get rained and hailed on in less than 50°F weather in his thin Converse. That had no business being discussed in a group text with my friend's other coworkers. That should have been a private conversation. So yeah friend, keep getting stuff your boss says in writing
Basically I worked a maintenence job, everyone there was friendly towards me (I didn't take sides in workplace drama.) Eventually the company began sending the CEO out to view our performance. It was a team of maybe 7 people throughout the day for a massive outside shoping complex, I'm talking two football stadiums. Constantly throughout the day it was non stop movement and 90% of the time we missed maybe two trashcans if not three in each zone we were assigned. Eventually the team started quitting due to poor treatment from upper staff, got down to me and one older lady I like to call grandma. She was not at all weak, definitely built muscle doing maintenence all her life. After around a month or two, we were told our performance was wavering, when the CEO came out and only saw two of us, he asked why we couldn't keep up the work load placed on us, he said if we didn't do better we would be fired. After about 30 minutes and a phone call to 'Grandma' she told me to come to the office where she was waiting outside. We walked in, gave in our hats, and told him to fire us so we can claim social security, we told him we won't take working hot days for 12 hours with only two people on a massive plaza almost every day (We had very few temp staff for days off). Next day, we got a call saying they will be hiring staff to replace us. [This is where it should end, bit it doesnt.] The new people come in, and CEO expects us to train them while we are working. Mind you, there are a bunch of small things you can miss or not say, not to mention zones were just arbitrary at this point. Me and Grandma decided to not tell them how the compactors worked, or the difference between the cardboard or trash compactors. As soon as we said we trained them, he fired us due to "poor work performance." One year later and now working as a florist I feel like me and grandma made the right decision, as after we left, the entire mall's main office began getting non-stop complaints about the hidden trashcans being over filled, bathrooms not being cleaned properly, soap dispensers not working, toilets not working, etc. They were so close to losing their contract I swear the maintenence company had to cut a lowball deal ON THEIR LARGEST CONTRACT. IDK if this counts as compliance or revenge, but its an intresting story I have to tell. Edit: Not really the size of two football stadiums, bit it was massive and thats just the best way to compare it.
That decimal point in the wrong place is similar to something happened almost 10 years ago with BestBuy. One of their Black Friday ads had a 65” TV in it. It was when a normal HD TV could be over $2k at normal price, and this one was supposed to be $999 in their ad for Black Friday. Instead of it saying $999, it said $99. It was on ALL of their fliers and it somehow didn’t get noticed by the big wigs until like 2 days before Black Friday so they couldn’t pull the ads. Instead of honoring like 1 or 2 per location and claiming to be out after, they told their stores to refuse to honor it at all and inform people it was a mistake instead. They got sued and it turned into a class action suit for false advertisement, got nailed by the feds for bait and switch, and ended up losing more than 10x between the fines and the class action suit than they would’ve if they’d just sold all the TVs for the mistakenly lowered price.
With Dabney telling the story about his mom & the ring, it feels like he's calling out the older women in my family, they're all boomers born in the 40's & 50's, they all tell the same stories over & over & over, my aunts in particular are into sharing stories on fantastic deals they got. One of my aunts, she's 69 (nice) years old & still works at Costco, she had odd jobs all her life & can't afford to retire. Anyways, she's basically a walking Costco ad at this point & last night, we all gathered at one of my aunt's places for a birthday celebration for my dad & the Costco aunt brought wine she bought at Costco & the entire time, she kept advertising it, claiming "it's only $4.99 at Costco, such a fantastic deal! Everyone is lining up to buy it!" She said this probably like 10 times.
That ring story made me laugh. Amazon was supposed to send me a refund of 30 Euro, but sent me 106 Euro instead. It's been 2 weeks and they haven't contacted me, so I just bought a bunch of fancy scented candles 🤷🏽♀️😂
I had the same thing happen with Wish. I was supposed to get a refund of around 40 due to the item not working delivery. They ended up refunding me nearly a hundred. I contacted them, and they said it was to cover shipping and stuff. But the 40 was included in the 40. They essentially said, it's yours now lol.
So a few years ago I was hired into an airforce depot as part of a team to stand up a new program. They actually head hunted me, I never actually applied for the job. I was a full-time guardsmen nearing my twenty year mark I was hoping that it would be a good way to ease myself out of the military. I was hired as a WG10 step five, I was already a step five from my time in the guard. And I was the only qualified person in my particular skill set. At some point they decided to merge us with another shops. Kinda double the manpower. They would get trained on all of our requirements, and we would be trained on theirs. Once fully qualified there would be no distinction save one, they were WG12s. When I asked if we were going to get promoted once we were fully trained, and working in the same role, I was told no. So I asked if I could maintain my current set of responsibilities and again I was told no. I then stated that I was not going to be given extra responsibility without commiserate pay. And I was told that I signed the contract, which did not mention being trained into and executing the responsibilities of a WG12 position without a raise to WG12, and if I didn't like it I could leave. I pointed out that I was the only one qualified in my position, that I was in good standing with my guard shop, and that I was licensed in the Civilian sector. I then asked if that was the final awnser? It was. I left, and not soly for my absence, mind you the program failed. So yeah maybe know when your the one negotiating from a weak hand.
Rslash purposfully asking his mother where she got her ring so she can gush about it shows how much of a sweet considerate man he is and I think that's why he's got such a big fanbase. 🥰💕
My grandmother had a similar situation with Lowes. She ordered a refrigerator from them, they had one in the store and they said they would deliver it in two days. Three days later they called her and told her that they didn't have any and it was going to be 14 days before they got any more in stock. Well, this wasn't going to work since her fridge had completely died (it was nearly 25 years old) so she just told them to give her the money back. They refunded her and my uncle and I went to another appliance store that had the same model in stock. We bought it, at a cheaper price than Lowes, and they were delivering it in two days. Two days later at 9:30am, Lowes shows up to deliver the fridge that they had already refunded. I told them to just leave it in the box and set it on the covered area of the driveway because we didn't have the old one out of the hole yet (we did). I got it moved out of the way about 20 minutes before the other place came and installed the other one we bought. We called lowes and told them that they delivered one by mistake, and they told us "Well, it's on our delivery schedule, so do whatever you want with it." So we got a free $2600 refrigerator that now lives at my cousin's house. We did try a couple more times to get them to come take it back, but they were having none of it. It's not stealing if the company literally gives it to you and won't take it back is it?
For the paper story, yeahhh walmart employees really don't care. One time I was placed on the farthest register from the customer service counter, and I was the only one at that end. This was right after I had hurt my ankle, and I was hardly able to walk. Well, a customer came through my line with a TV. It was supposed to be about $800, but when I scanned it, it rung up as $80. Customer pointed it out, I voided the item, and scanned it again...$80. I did this a few times, tried a few different bar codes, but it kept ringing up at $80. We're supposed to go to the service counter to get a manager for things like this, but having just hurt my ankle and being hardly able to walk, I couldn't unless I wanted to have a throbbing pain the whole day. I chuckled and told him "I guess you get 90% off that TV." He asked if I minded if he grabbed another one. I genuinely didn't give a shit, and told him to go for it. He got $1600 worth of digital big screen for only $160. I hope he's having fun with his 2 nice flat screens.
As someone who worked for Lowe's for about 10 years, here's what I think happened. The customer came in, the mower was set aside with a note. Some manager who couldn't mind their own business said it needed a purchase order (it doesn't, the receipt would be more than adequate). An associate creates an order just to please the manager, planing on clearing it when the mower arrives. When the customer comes back, a different associate sees the note, gives the customer the mower off the receipt, and is unaware of the PO. A third associate then finds the po, and realizes that a mower hasn't been pulled, so pulls one. Then someone else uninvolved starts the calling process off the po. Eventually, when inventory is done, they'll just bill out the "missing" mower, and no one will care. What SHOULD have happened. First, the stupid manager should have minded their own business. Failing that, a manager should have seen that the po had no sale attached to it, called the customer, and canceled the order. Instead, a bunch of associates not paid enough to care just kept passing it around until the customer picked up the second mower and the po was cleared.
The mower story happened to me too! I ordered a really nice dog kennel set (welded wire sturdy metal panels 10×8 feet. One panel has a really nice door in it.) Went and picked it up, then got an email the next week that I needed to go pick up my order. Like OP, I felt too guilty to go pick up another set so I called the store and let them know their mixup.
Regarding the story of the guy that got the free mower, or more specifically the comments that rSlash read, I have a similar story. I am a drummer, and for years I was overweight, so my throne broke (the little stool that drummers sit on is called a throne). I went into a music store to buy a new one. I found the most awesome throne on display, and the floor model was marked for sale at a reduced price. I looked it over and I couldn't find a mark on it. It was, for all I could see, perfect. It was a high end model, like $250 normally, but there wasn't a price on it. I expected it could be as much as half off, so I took it to the register to see what they were asking. There was a bar code sticker on the underside, so the guy scanned it and it came up as $25. He double checked it and it stayed $25. He and I looked at each and he said, "Well, I guess you're getting the bargain of the day!" You bet I bought that throne and ran like hell before some manager came along and tried to "fix" the situation.
So working at Lowe’s if a customer wants to pick something up later you put I believe the abbreviation is PL on the checkout order. It then becomes a customer service issue in that when you’re ready you bring it to customer service to retrieve said item. So I guess there was no communication and so the order was in the system still as paid and so they called to let him know it was ready. I never understood WHY they did it that way because it didn’t make sense. Normally we would take the item and put paid on it in the customer service area, but it’s a mower so we wouldn’t bring it in like that. So I mean OP kinda stole in a way because it was the wrong protocol to just pull up and take it lol
Having worked in a hospital in a non-medical job, I have great respect for nurses. Whenever I’ve been in the hospital for various reasons, I thank them constantly for each thing they do. They are highly skilled, under appreciated, and definitely not paid enough.
I actually really bad pnemonia once. Like was coughing up blood, super dehydrated, rasping like darth vader. Rushed into the hospital for it for either the second or third time. They decided at that point I needed introvenious antibiotics as the 3 other meds they gave me over nearly 2 months did nothing and I was in really bad shape at that point. They couldn't find a vein which is normal for me I have really crappy veins that everyone always compares to an elderly lady's (I was around 22ish at that point) best of all they shift and flex when they try to use needles and ivs on them. It was so bad, they tried my arms, my wrists, hands, then the tops of my feet I thought wrists hurt but oh god feet! They had to use a machine to look for veins and we literally watched my veins pinch shut on it when the nurse tried to thread the needle in for the iv repeatedly after way over a hour of 3 separate nurse the doctor came in and was like, "Hey I heard you were giving my Nurses a hard time! " and I was just like "what?" Because I had thought we had all been getting along well and I was chatting their ears off trying to ignore the 1000 pokes I got. Before I really knew what was going on the nurses pushed the chairs and machine out of the way and the doctor was like, "Yeah, I heard you're the girl with no veins!" I laughed then he lunged forward and told the nurses to make sure I didn't move and told me to keep still or I could bleed out and then they had the bed tilted back and a nurse was handing him the stuff for an iv and they were telling me to take a deep breath and were holding my head and shoulder and I think someone was pushing on my legs. I don't quite remember it was a while ago and I was totally shocked. The doctor ended up giving me a neck iv. It was not fun at all and hurt like hell. and I kept tasting this burning iron and weird sort of salt when they gave me meds and fluids. My mom has had to have that happen to and she said her doctor came in and did it to? Though he actually explained what was going to happen like a normal person!
First story: I have Trypanophobia, the fear of needles. I'm a lot better than I was, as I can actually sit through it by myself without needing to be held down, but I still have problems if its prolonged or if they try to surprise me (I'm a lot calmer if I know when its going to happen, funnily enough). What kinda grinds my gears is when whomever is trying to insert an IV or trying to draw blood doesn't listen to me and tries to go for my left arm. IT NEVER WORKS and they end up really stressing me out by jabbing me multiple times. One time a nurse insisted that they could get it and jabbed me four times before getting it the first time on my right arm (I told her that I was very close to passing out and she finally listened to me. Couldn't get up from the chair for a while though... and I was more than a little miffed). Bless the time I went to the doctor to get my esophagus and stomach scoped and the nurse listened to my request. IV went in first try and I had a very comfortable stay.
Story 3: I love the irony of Karen's view of the Pentagram. The Wiccans use it as a sign of life and connection. Sure, a lot of people think of Satan when it comes to the five-pointed star with a pentagon inside, but not everyone uses it for that
@@shadowmewfred09 Satanic pentagram is not as symetrical as Wiccan (satanic 1, Wiccan 5), and it's usually drawn two longer arms up (like goats horns) and one arm down (like goats beard). Wiccan is a pretty star ⭐
@@CatCheshire see shows how much I still have to learn other then "oooo nice design" lol, but I don't mind it at all to learn is to be human thank you for teaching me about that
Lmfao the first story made me die laughing. My dad is a doctor and my aunt (his sister) is a nurse. My dad would never touch an IV at this point in his life. Doctors do not do things like administer medications/place IV/draw blood/clean up patients/etc. My aunt on the other hand… lord her stories. So many things she has to do.
You get a ring, you get a ring, everyone gets a ring. The seller gets no money, seller still gets no money. seller skips on all the money. Hahahaha I love that story.
*Fifth OP:* At least the new lawnmower is in good hands. *RSlash's Story:* LOL, my mom also tells the same stories. Her "favorite" story is how she was in labor with me for over half the day. :/
Same. As a Christian myself, I really don't understand the point of refusing to get rang up by the goth cashier. If it was the necklace that was such a big thing, the principle of the matter, then the customer should've turned around and left the store and bought the controller elsewhere. I don't know what they thought they were accomplishing by refusing to get rang up. Denying the cashier some sort of validation or reward? Clearly they knew nothing about working in retail in general, and even less about working at Gamestop itself. They only managed to inconvenience themselves by choosing to die on that hill. The cashier wasn't bothered, the manager was slightly annoyed, but what did the lady actually accomplish ? Becoming an amusing anecdote. And the kid probably did go on to play Call of Duty or GTA 5 or something.
@@thetruth1816 It's easy to be that way unfortunately, even unintentionally so. Hypocrisy and judgementalism are so easy a hole to fall into. It's the "Hah! At least I know how to use the three seashells", and/or "I've got mine" mentality, just made all the more prominent and obnoxious because these people aren't practicing their own beliefs or following them through to the fullest conclusion. Hell, I'm frequently guilty of it myself, if I'm being honest. Consistency is difficult sometimes in the face of our personal biases and character defects. The simple truth is we're not inherently any better than anyone else. We still make mistakes and can say and do things that reflect poorly on ourselves as well as on our faith. We're supposed to try to grow past them, and better reflect the image of our creator in love and by service to others. But I'm guessing you yourself have had plenty of encounters with people who haven't gotten that part down very well. As is true in most cases, people's experiences with a bad enough actor(s) in a group sours the perception of the group as a whole. This lady was a perfect example of that. Being purposely snarky to the cashier just for what they were wearing changed nothing. It was stupid and petty. If anything it just encouraged the cashier to continue being themselves and dressing the way they did for no other reason than just for the simple joy of it being triggering to people like that woman. Who still bought the controller from Gamestop in the end anyways. And whose kid very well might've gone on to play COD or GTA5 or something. Her actions didn't affect the cashier in any meaningful positive way, didn't affect their job in any way (at least from the story details themselves), much less whatever their life choices leading up to and after that interaction. What was the point of it? Was she concerned the cashier was going to put some sort of spell on the controller or put a curse on the change she got back? Was the lady upset that Gamestop allowed "that kind" of person to work there? How was being stupid and petty going to resolve her issues, or fix anything? Regardless, the consistent thing to do wouldn't have been to cop an attitude with the lowly Gamestop worker, or the manager, but to leave the store and buy the controller elsewhere. But that's just my two cents. I used to work retail myself, so I have boundless sympathy for those who did or still do. It's almost always a crummy job that doesn't pay nearly enough to compensate for what you have to put up with when dealing with the public and unreasonable people. And this was at a Gamestop of all places, the very fount of any number of retail horror stories. I hope the op got out while they could and moved on to a better job.
story kinda simular as the lawnmower one. once i ordered a Wacom tabled via a webshop of a techstrore. 2 months of asking for updates of my order etc later i decided to cancel my order since i really needed it for school. 2 days later i had my money back and went to a store to pick one up in person (my parents came along and sweet as they are they made me buy the medium instead the small one and payed the difference
Lowes story: mine is close to the same. I bought a lower price riding lawnmower. I took the receipt to the employee and he acted like I was bothering him. He storms off to the outside lawnmowers and unlocked the 1st one. Then locks the others. He signs my receipt and walked away. I noticed it was the more expensive one. I smiled and loaded it on my trailer and drove home happy 😂
Story 1, I'm chronically ill, and have had blood drawn 100s of times, the only time anything ever went wrong was when a Dr did it. He ripped me, and left me with a permanent landing strip scarf right above the only vein u can get blood from. Never, ever ask for a Dr... always a nurse!
10:38 as someone who works at a very similar home improvement store in the online orders department, I assure you that the only reason they kept calling op is so they could clear up the space that the mower was taking without sending it back. Sending back cancelled orders costs the store (more) money; we'd rather you just pick it up.
10:50 - I had a similar experience when I visited the US from Australia, went to Walmart to get some new shoes, well found ones I liked, much cheaper than here in Australia so grabbed two extra pair, scanned all three boxes, looked to the price showing and it was $21, looked back to the box and it showed $27/box, looked to my friend who was with me, then back to the screen to check the description, then waved the worker overseeing self-checkout and clarified that was correct. She looked to the screen, looked to the boxes, noted all three were the same so just picked up one box, opened it, grabbed the gun and scanned the tag attached to the shoe and it came up $7, she then voided the last scan and went "Guess it is, enjoy your stay in the USofA." and just walked back to where she was standing. And if people are wondering, the shoes here in Australia cost $70 including tax, so even with the sales tax at 4.75% it was still cheaper for me to get said shoes on conversion.
So, I had a phlebotomist joke with me about "maybe needing to go through my carotid" if my veins kept being difficult, which I'd warned her about. I had a panic attack. My pulse shot up to between 180-200 and my blood pressure went through the roof. I didn't sign up for a needle in the neck when making the appointment to divest my body of excess iron! Arms? Of course! Legs? A minute possibility. Throat?? OH HELL NAW!! They gave me some trail mix and a bottle of water, and I breathed for a while. They thought they were going to have to call the ambulance for a while. I got my heart rate to a consistent 140-ish and my BP down to 120/90 and they were able to get the iv in to get the phlebotomy done. They kept me for around 15 minutes to make sure things were holding steady then they reluctantly let me go to start my 20 minute drive home. I couldn't make myself go back for over a year, but my hemochromatosis needed to be addressed, so it became necessary to face my fear of a repeat episode.
Everyone knows that the nurses are the one that do the day to day in any ER. I work in the supply room of an ED and a majority of the people that come asking for supplies to do procedures are the nurses; not the doctors. Doctors give the orders, and nurses do all the work. Not to dis on doctors, they went through years of work and training and earned it. But any hospital would collapse without the nurses to care for the patients.
Pentagrams also symbolize the 5 elements that make up Life: Water, Earth, Fire, Air, and Spirit. Then the circle that surrounds them is what binds the elements together to create Life.
My dad needed an IV, his veins are very hard to find. Three difference RNs, even the head couldn't do it, the Doctor came and direct into the neck. My dad was thrilled there was just no more poking.
Tell your mom she's not alone, RSlash! Back when we had cable as a kid/early teen I would watch a channel similar to QVC. It was a channel that just showcased jewelry called Jewelry Love, or JTV for short. I never bought anything but it was fun to look at the beautiful jewelry.
Re: the mower story. Many, many years ago we belonged to a membership club (which no longer exists). As we were roaming around looking and picking up things that we "needed", I noticed one helluva price on a full case of 24 cans of cranberry sauce. I immediately grabbed one as I just love the stuff any time of the year. Next time we were in the store, the same cares of sauce were cut in half and 12 cans were the same price as the 24 that I bought, which I presumed meant that whoever stocked the product didn't notice his mistake and thought that the full case of 24 was to be sold at that price. Then, after moving here 27 years ago, we spotted a patio set at Sams club that we needed at a good price, 6 chairs, glass top table, and an umbrella. I loaded it all up, paid for it, and we went on our merry way. Next time we were in there I noticed that the umbrella had a separate price on it, so when I got home, I pulled out the receipt and saw that the cashier had just bundled it together with the table and chairs. Just as well as the umbrella really wasn't very good quality anyway and only lasted a few years, but we still have the table and chairs.
On the first story, it was definitely to scare the patient. The jugular is one of our last options. Way too many delicate structures are right beside it. Pretty easy to miss the jugular and get the aorta instead. Not the best option for someone not used to place IVs
8:27 This happened to me too with a 21" LCD monitor from Dell. I ordered one. It came in. Super happy. They then sent me an email saying that they're still looking for one to fulfill my order. If I don't respond, they'll cancel my order and refund me. I called them and said "Hey, you guys messed up. I got my monitor." They were like "Oh, thanks. We'll update it." A week later. The same email. Called them again, said the same thing. Told them that this is the second time I've called. "They were like. Oh! Thank you very much. We appreciate it. We'll update the order." Next week, got the email again. I went "Fuck it, I wouldn't mind a 2 for 1 deal." and responded. The next week, the same. And the next. I think this went on for a full month. One week, I forgot to respond. They were like "We're sorry about this. We've refunded your amount." Checked my bank, sure enough, it was refunded. So... yeah... free monitor that cost like around 426 USD.
Like most airmen, I was on detail (cleaning, managing certain posts, etc) as an AIT when I first got to tech school. We'd hang out in the dayroom after making our rounds. Our floor looked great, smelled great, but that wasn't enough for the MTL. If we weren't cleaning, then the floor wasn't clean. They wanted us continuously cleaning for the whole shift. We got a talking-to, lost some privileges, and were told we're meant to clean. Alright. We immediately began running circuits on mopping the next day. 2 teams of 2 would begin mopping and would meet in the middle, where they would be relieved by another team of 2. Our goal was to make sure the floor *never* dried, but we still had to mop properly. We made our pinesol mixture a bit stronger than usual and kept it up for days. Our goal was to have somebody bust ass on our wet floor, but that never happened. Night shifters would complain about the smell and constantly wet floors, but nothing could be done because our wet floor signs were always present where needed. It wasn't enough, so we mopped the walls. That's when the pinesol started to soak its way into the essence of the entire Bravo floor. It still was not enough. So we mopped the fucking staircase. Just tipped over the bucket at the top floor with our strongest soap and pine solution yet and let it trickle down. We moved quick: mopped the stairs, landings, the walls, even the fucking doors. They gave us our rec time back. That staircase smelled like nauseating pine the rest of my stay at Sheppard AFB.
Honestly, if I had the same deal your mom had, I'd have that same enthusiasm. A deal like that is amazing! I hope she finds another deal that great again.
The "Free Lawnmower" reminded me of a couple incidents from my mother. Mom made most of her own clothing and when she went to the fabric stores she would generally buy enough fabric for multiple garments. One time she had a stack of several bolts of fabric. The cutter measured and cut the first fabric. When she folded it up, she folded the shears into the fabric. When the cutter was looking for her shears to cut the next piece, my mother pulled the shears out from the folded fabric and handed them to her. Once again, the cutter folded her shears into the fabric. Again, my mother pulled the shears out of the fabric and handed them to the cutter. After the third time of folding the shears into the fabric, my mother decided the cutter must really want my mother to have those shears, so mom let her go find another pair, and mom went home with a free pair of shears. The second incident is with jewelry. My mother had a tennis bracelet with a rainbow of semi-precious stones which needed to be repaired. When she went to the jewelry store to pick up her bracelet, she immediately saw this wasn’t her original bracelet. She told the clerk this and the clerk double checked the repair ticket numbers. After some discussion the store manager was called over. The manager assured my mother that this was the correct bracelet. Eventually mom gave up the argument and went home with her new bracelet. How could mom be so sure this wasn’t her bracelet? Mom’s original bracelet was made of square cut stones and this bracelet was made of rectangular stones almost twice the size of the stones of her original bracelet. Part of the argument used by the store manager was that this store had never carried a rainbow tennis bracelet with square stones, so this one must be my mother’s.
Buy one get one free lawnmower: I had something similar happen with Lowes as well. Beginning of 2020, before the pandemic really kicked off, my boyfriend and I moved into a new apartment that had in unit washer and dryer hook ups. So we used our fancy new stimulus checks to order a nice set from Lowes. About a week later they delivered and set up our new units. All was great! Then, about once a month for the next 6-7 months, I would get a call that my new washer and dryer were ready for delivery and that they needed a confirmation on the address. I kept telling them that I had my units already, they would apologize, and then call me again next month. When I told my mom about it she said to just accept the delivery if they call again because my sister needed new units. Sure enough, they called again, I gave them my address, and they dropped off the units. They asked if I wanted them to hook them up for me but I said I wasnt comfortable with them being in my apartment too long due to the pandemic. They left, I called my sister, and she came to pick up her new washer and dryer set.
I don't usually comment but today's video (especially with the story about your mom's ring) feels so much more positive and nice than that wombo combo of depression in yesterday's video.
As a former employee of lowes, this is unusual, but most likely someone typed something in wrong on the floor model (the old dos system confused too many people) and it custom ordered a new mower from the manufacturer. Its more likely lowes couldnt cash it out (possibly discontinued) and didnt earn anything from it.
Forget about every story today. The only one that really makes me love this episode, is the @rslash ‘s mom 20 ring deal, and how excited he was to make his mom happy any time he sees she use the “one” ring
Story1: A lot of doctors don't even know how to give shots properly. The nurses have to do a LOT of the work., IVs, catheters, blood draws, shots, etc. Some nurses don't have a lot of experience-- depends on where they worked and what type of nurse they are. But most of the older ones can do the IVs, caths, and blood draws. I had a gp who didn't like to give shots so he had his office clerk (who had zero medical training whatsoever) give shots and she did not know WTF she was doing. She could only give it in the butt (and not even in the right spot) and would swing her arm like she was pitching a ball underhand & jab people hard. Then she would be confused why they jumped. That doctor was intentionally scaring the patient. Story2: If OP worked for the government they wouldn't care if it cost more. They would just pay it and insist OP had to take uber. But they would probably also refuse to pay over a certain amount and claim some bs reason for it. They would make OP fight for reimbursement. Story3: At least the bigoted ignorant Karen didn't scream at OP that she was going to hell. My cousin's ex-husband used to literally chase people out to their vehicles and scream/shout at them that they were going to hell. Everything was evil to him-- stars, moons, dragons-- any symbol that wasn't a crucifix basically. He once chased a customer out to her car and grabbed her car door & wouldn't let her leave bc he was angry about something she was wearing-- telling her she was going to hell. He got fired of course. He eventually stopped doing it long enough to hold down a job for a few years (before he blew a gasket on his boss and got fired). Story4: I had the opposite issue with HomeDepot where I ordered an item that never arrived. I asked the employee to cancel the order but she was new and fucked up and put that I received the item. Mind you, it had been a year and a half since I ordered the item and it was only 50cents (plus tax) but I was miffed that they never sent it. I spent over an hour on the phone dealing with the customer service who was flabbergasted that I wanted less than $1 back. I told them it was the principle of the matter. I didn't get what I paid for. They finally issued a discount. Another time with HD it was a more expensive item that they claimed I picked up, but when I went to the store they didn't have it & claimed I picked it up-- which I didn't. That one was over $100 but they refused to give me a refund bc their system claimed I picked it up. With Lowes I had issues of them not being able to find something. I showed up at the store, waited 3 hours while having bad kidney stones. Employee was super rude to me. I left. They said they would call me when they found it. They called, I showed up, they still couldn't find it. They said they would ship it to me. I waited over a week. I finally hit them up on Twitter and then followed up with e-mail and a phone call and got apologies. CS gave me a discount on the item since it was something I'd needed right away but had to wait weeks for & when they called to say it was ready I made sure the employee laid eyes on it to make sure that it was actually there and I wasn't driving an hour to get there to pick it up and not have it there. So, that worked out. Another situation at a Lowes-- we bought some carpet rolls and the people who marked it marked the price for each roll individually. Cashier refused to put in the price for both. I kept explaining it was not the price for both rolls but only one. She told me to shut up and refused to add it. I stopped arguing with her and walked out with a free roll of carpet, but felt bad about it so I went back with my receipt and found a manager and explained what happened. She thanked me, charged for the other roll, but gave me a discount. Then she reamed the cashier. Employees at Walmart don't get paid enough to care. My mom also had an experience where the cashier scanned a single item (that was lower priced than the similar items) for lower price. She kept telling the woman that she needed to scan the items individually as they were more expensive. Woman told her not to tell her how to do her job. She tried telling her 3x but the woman wouldn't listen so she felt no guilt walking out with the items. Oh! My mom had a similar experience with QVC. The put in the wrong price and she ordered it but they refused to honor the order and canceled it instead. I actually like to hear some stories over and over. I had an elderly friend who would tell us funny stories and we would ask him to tell them again because they were so entertaining. Like the one where he tricked a co-worker into knocking on someone's door while wearing crisp white pants while knowing the pet duck was going to attack and get mud all over him. I love that you ask your mom where she got her ring so she can enthusiastically tell the story again. Story5: I feel bad for the customers in this situation. That company may end up going belly up because of the stupid idiot who told OP to quit. I hope that idiot gets fired but he'll probably put it on a lower tier employee instead somehow.
I have a similar story to the lawn mower story. I needed to get some more ink for my printer, and I go to Amazon and find the cartridge that I need. And I only ordered and payed for one cartridge, waited one - two days and I notice that it didn't feel like there was only one in he package and low and be hold there were four ink cartridge that I needed for my printer.
I can kind of understand the old man. When I had diarrhea - which lasted at this point for over a week, I chose to visit my local hospital. The first checkup went fine, then they wanted blood samples including one for mineral analysis (takes a larger amount of blood). Now I know my body and taking blood samples is always an event. My blood dries up fast. So the nurse took the kit and tried my left ellbow, then the right ellbow, then the back of my hands and was rather unsuccessful. At one point she joyfully exclaimed because my blood filled the short flexible drain but her face frowned when she took a tube to fill with my drawn blood, since my blood had dried in the flex drain in just a few seconds. Finally, after a lot of pain because she had to constantly wiggle the needle to keep my blood flowing, she was satisfied, all tubes filled somewhat and she left for the lab. Then like 5 minutes later a doctor came to see me and told me that "unfortunately" they needed more blood for the mineral analysis - and he took it. Without any problems or pain for me - he just used some alcohol to agitate the skin in my left ellbow, aimed and hit the right spot on the first try. So I'm convinced that doctors full well know these procedures - and train them regularly. The main 2 reasons that nurses do them is 1) doctors are usually far busier treating the sick and 2) the nurse job costs less so its more cost efficient if the nurses do it. Nothing against nurses here - I respect them as being highly trained professionals as well.
With the first story, the thing is, nurses are a lot more experienced at placing IVs than doctors, as usually, doctors wouldn't have placed one for a while but nurses do that kind of thing multiple times a day. I'd be more comfortable having a registered nurse place an IV rather than a doctor. Edit: OK, I wrote this before getting through the rest of the story lol
The Lowe's Mower story. I work at Lowes, in the online order department. And i *was* enjoying my week off from work. As someone on the other side of the counter, lemme explan what I think is going on. So OP just wanted to set the floor model mower aside to pick up later. Lowes doesn't do set-asides unless they're for an order. So I guess one of the service reps 'placed an order' to allow the mower to be in the order area. Then the distributor filled that order, brought Mower 2 to the store where the fulfillment team finished filling the order. When the customer called, the person answering tried to resolve the problem while spending the least amount of time on the phone as possible. (Remember, fulfillment people have a lot to do. Serving customers picking up their orders, picking and preparing other orders, getting called to do other things.) And they probably tried to get a manager involved. Well we all know managers are useless, and the ones at Lowe's are no exception. So really, nothing got done, and due to a series of corporate screwups, op got a free mower. It happens often at Lowe's.
As a Lowes cashier i bet you $50 bucks i know how that happened. We have 4 types of sales on our POS, CW (carry with), PL (pick up later), and a couple deliveries (don't worry about them). Most sales are CW but whenever someone says they want to leave an item and come back for it, we're supposed to mark it as a PL! It's drilled into all new cashiers because Fulfillment (the ones who take care of online orders and typical PLs) will throw a hissy fit if we leave items marked as CW in the PL zone. So OP's cashier probably marked it as PL, pushed it to the side, and OP came back for it before the fulfillment guys even moved it, so good for OP, but bad for the POS system. Because in order to clear out a PL, we have to print a loading ticket and have the customer sign it. HOWEVER most cashiers aren't trained on that part of the PLs until they start learning the Service Desk or Pro Desk because garden center and mainline cashiers don't usually have to fulfill PLs. Meanwhile since the mower was a clearance floor model, it was probs already taken out of inventory so that + no loading ticket = the system auto-ordered a new mower = OP gets freebee mower, and since Fulfillment guys and Mainline cashiers don't have a lot of overlap, no one ever thought to question the cashier who sold it to the guy! so like don't worry OP. none of us care about you taking advantages of our system as long as you're nice about it. we're more concerned about hurrying the dicks who come to yell at us about not being able to return their microwave after 48 hours out the door.
7:20 - Pentagrams Ok, so a lot of people get this super backwards and confused. Pentagrams that are normal (star upward) are warding and protection based. The inverted pentagram is typically seen as the reverse, and where people get the false idea that all pentagrams are "satanic". As someone who studied alternative religions, including Wicca at the time, this is the most common thing I hear people complain about in regards to the symbol. It's basically the same type of thing with the Manji, which people confuse with the inverted version.
7:10 Hi there! Wiccan here. Big fan. There are two major differences between the Pentacle and the Pentagram. In order for one to be the other, it's a simple matter of a 180 turn. The Satanic Pentagram is an upside down star inside a circle. The Wiccan/Pagan/Tarrot/Gothic Pentacle is a right-side up star in a circle. It's only Satanic if it's upside down. The Pentacle is for protection. The Pentagram is for demonic summoning. That mom is just a Karen who's too stuck up to do her research.
I got a wholesome GameStop Story: I used to work at a GameStop in a moderately sized city. A grandmother came in looking for a console for her grandchild, but didn't know which one to get. She asked me which one I prefer, and I told her but added that it didn't really matter, so I asked her what games her grandson was into, and if she knew any specific titles. She didn't know, so I settled it with a coin toss, she left with an XBox.
The mower story reminded me of an incident that happened a couple months ago. My husband was getting into shooting and hunting, so he decided to invest in a proper gun safe. He ordered one online from Academy Sports, paid for it up front, and picked it up. He got an email a few days later essentially saying that his money was being refunded because he didn’t pick up his order. I said that it had to be a mistake since he picked up the order. Sure enough, he got the $700 and some change that he paid for the safe refunded back to him in another day or two. I told him that he needed to make sure he paid for that the next time he went up there, which was gonna be the next day because he decided he needed some fishing gear. I was probably being paranoid, but I told him that if it were a hat, it wouldn’t be a big deal, as it could probably be chalked up to a shoplifter or damaged goods. This is a 5 foot tall and 350 pound safe. Something like that is not being walked out by the common person. If they come up short on this in inventory, it’ll be investigated, and could well be traced back to him. He told me that the manager was stunned when he was telling him he wanted to pay for the safe when the money had been refunded. My husband had showed him the tag with the order number that was on the safe to show that yes, he did have the safe at home. The manager had expressed shock that he was wanting to pay for something he had been refunded on. My husband said he didn’t want anyone to get in trouble or lose their job because of this, and he had to come back here anyway. They sorted it out, and all was right in the world.
It's because of stories like this that I always make an effort to thank nurses for their service. I was actually saved by an RN when I was having a really bad anxiety attack at work, that NO ONE cared about. He made my lazy co-worker who caused the attack (he took a smoke break when we were in the middle of bar rush, and it was just us two and the server with no manager) take over my position in drive through, took care of me, made sure my boss knew when she came in in the morning and reminded her that I couldn't legaly be punished since it was a medical emergency, and even drove me home since I told him I walked and had been planning to wait a few hours for the bus since I was too lightheaded to make the 20 minute walk safely.
The lawnmower story reminds me of something that happened to me. A few years ago, I purchased a mini deep freeze off the walmart website. It said it was on back order and would ship once stock was replenished. Alright, I thought, not a problem. a few weeks go by and still no update. I see a similar one on the website for $20 cheaper, so I cancel the original order and buy the new one. The new one arrives at my apartment the following week and I get it all set up. The next day when I come home from work, there is a giant box outside my apartment door - it was the canceled deep freeze. I double check my credit card and sure enough, only the cheaper one was charged. I call the support number to try and return in - the order shows canceled and never shipped in their system so they can't start the return. After I explained the situation, they could not understand what I was trying to do. Over the next few weeks, I called multiple times with no help from anyone and the box was way too big to load into my car and bring up to my local WM. Eventually, I brought copies of the emails, orders, all that to the manager at the local WM and he was able to put a request in for the 'free' deep freeze to be picked up and taken back. Gotta admit, it was VERY tempting to keep it or sell it on a marketplace and, maybe if another week of no results occurred, I might have. Never had such a problem giving merchandise BACK to a store.
3rd story: you’re not wrong about the Pentagram being used for protection. In Christianity they adopted the symbol to use to trap demons. From what I’ve read they would trap a demon inside the lines and it would be forced to follow the lines in order to escape but because the lines form a continuous loop the demon would be trapped forever forced to follow the lines in a never ending loop. There’s many old churches that have the symbol carved somewhere in them especially in Europe. But the symbol is much older than Christianity. While it does indeed provide protection it can also act as an energy conduit for Pagan, Wiccans, Witches and other mystics. The five pointed Star represents the 5 natural elements, Earth, Air, Water, Fire and at the top Governing them all is Spirit (or in some iterations Lightning). These help form an energy conduit like a magic circle and has a multitude of uses, from protection to energy amplification, and even astral projection among other things. The doctor who told the patient he was going for the jugular is my hero XD It probably was to scare the guy because a jugular placement of an IV is a tad abnormal, not saying it hasn't been done but it isn't the choice location :) Story number two: Yeah that's my life as a goth person tolerating people who are judgy and automatically assume things are satanic, refusing to even come close because oh lord. Can't tell you how many people lose all social tact and feel the need to tell me all the things they think and assume, like "you'll never get a job" or "no man will ever want someone who looks like you" oh and my favorite, "God told me that I need to pray for you because you're going to hell" well I am married and a surg tech so guess those assumptions are a wash *shrug* also thank you for the concern of my immortal soul but perhaps worry about your own
Story 1: this happens because TV shows like greys anatomy have doctors doing all the nurse jobs so patients think actual doctors do things like IVs.
Most people have no idea how in reality nurses do lot of day to day work in a hospital
That’s one of the main issues I have with greys. The surgeons do the nurse jobs AND the other doctor jobs. Usually a cardiologist would diagnose and prescribe medication, but they have the cardiothoracic surgeons doing that.
I mean I'm not gonna blame the show, because grown ass adults should know better than assuming a fictional tv series is based in reality
One of many reasons I preferred Scrubs. At least it gave more props to nurses than most do.
It seems most professions are poorly represented on TV.
rSlash just be a good son twice over because 1) he asks something about his mom to show he pays attention to her, and 2) he takes joy in listening to her tell the story again, because it brings her so much joy to tell the story. Wholesome
Yes, even if she has dementia and doesn't realize she told the same story to you several times, enjoy that time with her. My mom had dementia and would often repeat the same story to me in her last years. I just pretended I hadn't heard it before. We lost her a couple months ago.

Dr. Anderson is a legend. When I was sick in hospital a few months ago, the nurses were so overworked, so friendly and so consistent. Be kind to nurses, everyone, they are the real MVPs of a hospital.
100% facts.. last year when I was in the hospital from cancer surgery I was always nice to the nurses always joking bigtime sarcasm but never rude..
I've done the exact opposite. Had a dr. recommend an antibiotic & I asked the nurse what she thought about it. Dr. Looked at me & I just said " she sees the side effects you've only read about." He replied "okay"
A-men.
Nurses are BADASSES, plain and simple ❤️❤️❤️
You are so right. I was in the hospital for nearly a month, I met almost all of the nurses in that department I've seen them at least twice a day if not more. I've seen my actual doctor maybe once a week
rslash asking his mom to keep repeating the story about the ring because he knows how happy it makes her is the sweetest thing on earth. SO many people would be annoyed with their parents/grandparents for repeating the same stories over and over, he's just such a genuinely good person.
Rslash excitedly telling a story about his mom is really sweet tbh
It really is. It was super wholesome too!

The jugular vein is typically not used for an IV. It was all about freaking this patient out. Well played, Dr Anderson! 😉
Dr anderson not only wanted to make that nurses life easier but all nurses that interact with that patient in the future good for him!
@@frickfrack7075 Holy hell that sounds awful, especially to someone like me who has a fear of needles! Congrats on getting and staying clean.
@@frickfrack7075 Congrats on getting and staying clean! 👏
Pentagrams, (a star with its top point facing up inside of a circle) is a common symbol of protection, warding of Negative Energy, and protection from Negative or violent spirits, although when it comes to this symbol and putting it on your body as a tattoo you need to be EXTREMELY careful about how you do it since the pentagram is meant to absorb those energies and spirits to protect you from harm, however (like giving yourself a tattoo of a blue evil eye) you can actually become the vessel that absorbs those energies and spirits, doing the opposite of what the symbol is meant to do
A Pentagal (exactly like a pentagram but the star is upside down) is a symbol of wealth, welcoming windfalls and good luck to come (this is also the more common one to see) I love doing these as tattoo designs since there’s so many different styles and ways to interpret it, and having a Pentagle as a tattoo is nowhere near as dangerous as a pentagram
When will managers/supervisors/bosses ever learn? If you're gonna pull the "if you don't like it, quit" card, chances are your employees WILL DO JUST THAT!!
They weren't their employees, they were their employers and because of it this story is even funnier xD
@@russlehman2070 I would always choose the dog or cat.
LMAO at the Walmart story. That employee is so relatable. "Want it for $10? That's what the computer says, go right ahead" so good exactly what one should do in that situation
I’d have asked, “Hey, could you have someone get me 4 more?”
the definition of "above my pay grade"
Typically, if there's a discrepancy in price (ie two different prices for one item) they have to go with the cheaper of the two. It happened to me back when I went to buy Sonic 06 (it had just came out then, and nobody knew how buggy it was yet) and it was listed in two different places, at two different prices. They had to sell it to me for the lower price.
I'd give it to you for the $10, provided you're not an a**hole
Yeah, Walmart treats their employees like crap, so she probably didn't give a crap.
Lmao yeah I did that once when I was a brand new employee 😅
Oh, trust me, stuff like this happens daily. In IT we call it the "Lowes Lottery." Store employees find very inventive ways to accidentally give away free product.
For the first story, the IV in the jugular was definitely just a scare tactic. It uses a different type of catheter, the care for it is more complicated, it's more dangerous and it's def not easier to place it! :)
Jugular IVs seem to be more of the last resort and for emergencies only
Rslash, I appreciate you asking your mom about the story of the rings, even if you've heard it hundreds of times, it clearly makes her day telling you all about the amazing deal she got on those rings.
It happens because the people who make shows and movies about hospitals don't know how it actually works and portrays the doctor as the one who does everything while the nurse is little more than a glorified assistant or customer service representative.
sometimes the nurses mess up tho
@@--julian_ Of course that can happen. Nobody has said it can't. After all, they are human too. The point being made is that things like iv's aren't in the doctors wheelhouse of responsibilities. It's, literally, part of what nurses do day in and day out. However, tv and movies have made it so people think the doctors do everything while nurses do next to nothing, which is completely false.
it all depends. I had a bad gout flare-up, I was glad for a podiatrist jamming needles into my heel instead of a nurse.
@@scottkendrix6231 i think it also depends on the country
for me I think that any respectable doctor should be able to put on an iv. like what happens if its an emergency and there are no nurses around?
Pagens also use it
@@Yumi_Jay Well, pagans as a general rule don't believe in Jesus, at least not as the Messiah or son of God.

My mom went through breast cancer a few years ago, she's mean to nurses who can't get the IV or needle in one go.

I have a serious fear of needles. I have passed out while getting a shot, and I nearly had to get an IV recently. Turns out sinus infections can get very serious. As someone working in retail, I can confirm that if something rings up incorrectly and it’s in the customer’s favor, there’s absolutely no benefit to not just letting them take it at that price. The company fucks up communications and loading promos enough that I genuinely do not get paid enough for it to be my problem.
I was about to make almost this same comment and then realized I was here 6 months ago and did already.
Amazing 😂

Can confirm as a retail worker. I dont get paid nearly enough to deal with problems that benefit customers.

So, I'm at that convention and the guy asks the seller about payment and the seller goes: "Yeah, you can pay with card, with this app, with cutie gang stickers..."
I saw a chance and took it.
"You can pay with cutie gang stickers?" I asked.
"Hmmm... Yeah, you can!" the seller said.
"So, if I bring you ten stickers, what can I get?"
"Hmmm... A discount."
Then I'd noticed these inexpensive leather pouches. "Can I get one of these?"
"Yeah, sure."
So the next day I was back with ten stickers.

[This is where it should end, bit it doesnt.]
The new people come in, and CEO expects us to train them while we are working. Mind you, there are a bunch of small things you can miss or not say, not to mention zones were just arbitrary at this point. Me and Grandma decided to not tell them how the compactors worked, or the difference between the cardboard or trash compactors. As soon as we said we trained them, he fired us due to "poor work performance."
One year later and now working as a florist I feel like me and grandma made the right decision, as after we left, the entire mall's main office began getting non-stop complaints about the hidden trashcans being over filled, bathrooms not being cleaned properly, soap dispensers not working, toilets not working, etc.
That is genuinely so sweet that r/slash actively asks his mom about the ring cause he knows it makes her happy to talk about
That decimal point in the wrong place is similar to something happened almost 10 years ago with BestBuy.

I love when people repeats stories that makes them happy, I always pretend I didn't know. i enjoy their enthusiasm.
Story 1: I was expecting the Doctor to show and tell the Nurse to do it lol
First story:
I have Trypanophobia, the fear of needles.
Sure, a lot of people think of Satan when it comes to the five-pointed star with a pentagon inside, but not everyone uses it for that
I mean I knew it was a big part of satanic rituals and symbolism but not protection part for the wiccans, honestly amazing what you can learn
@@shadowmewfred09
Satanic pentagram is not as symetrical as Wiccan (satanic 1, Wiccan 5), and it's usually drawn two longer arms up (like goats horns) and one arm down (like goats beard).
Hahahaha I love that story.
r/mom's ring story is just so freaking wholesome. 😁🥰
*Fifth OP:* At least the new lawnmower is in good hands.
*RSlash's Story:* LOL, my mom also tells the same stories. Her "favorite" story is how she was in labor with me for over half the day. :/
Oh, PHLEBOTOMY. Not Lobotomy, I was scared for a second there.
Story 3 : if I was the manager I would've done the inventory extra extra extra slow.. slower then a turtle speed..
@@thegrimharvest I don't get these Christians nowadays.. all judgy and everything like they're better then everyone else..
It ways boggles my mind that there are still people out there who belittle nurses like the dude in the first story
We all know what teenage Lilys first gift is gonna be; one of those rings.
11:30 as a walmart employee, that’s what we’re trained to do actually.
I "THINK" it's a law that if the store put the wrong price on an item-you get item at wrong price.
RSLASH is how I start my mornings every day! I appreciate this channel so much :)
Funny it's how I end them :D
With the first story, the thing is, nurses are a lot more experienced at placing IVs than doctors, as usually, doctors wouldn't have placed one for a while but nurses do that kind of thing multiple times a day. I'd be more comfortable having a registered nurse place an IV rather than a doctor.
Edit: OK, I wrote this before getting through the rest of the story lol
the "mom's ring" story made day. this is exactly how i interact witn my mom.
Your story about your mom and her ring it's just proof positive that you're an awesome son.
I bought a 13,99 dollars cake for 1,39 but the cashier didnt notice coz i had a lot of other stuff with it.
7:20 - Pentagrams
Ok, so a lot of people get this super backwards and confused.

Hi there!
I got a wholesome GameStop Story:
I used to work at a GameStop in a moderately sized city.
That idiotic Karen didn’t even understand what she was offended by and even if she did understand it that still wouldn’t make her any less stupid. What an absolute moron 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
The doctor who told the patient he was going for the jugular is my hero XD It probably was to scare the guy because a jugular placement of an IV is a tad abnormal, not saying it hasn't been done but it isn't the choice location :)
Story number two: Yeah that's my life as a goth person tolerating people who are judgy and automatically assume things are satanic, refusing to even come close because oh lord.
