Wow, that makes me so proud of my county. Thanks for another great video. I walked some of the Offaly Way and (I think) this one that last time I was home, but will definitely try a longer visit next time now. Glad you got some hospitality in my hometown of Birr as well, just in time !

Beautiful walking, even with all that rain it looked stunning with the mist hanging over the forest :-) Sounded like a tough decision to call it a day and cool that you got some sun (and hailstones) on the return to complete the walk. Well done :-)

Bloody hell lads, yea got drenched. This walk seems fantastic and one I'd love to try Carl looked so happy :D his aura must have been amazing :P. Nice start to the video the cuts very well in tune with the music which itself was an interesting choice and worked very well. Good job (Y)

Yeah I’ve been wondering about music recently, and whether it works better to have the upbeat tempo to help the video move along and keep people engaged, or if people prefer to hear the natural sounds 🤔 what do you think?
@@ToughSoles Mixture of both. Music is very important and adds so much depth and feeling, I wouldn't leave it out. Natural sound is important but what I've learnt is that the wind doesn't work well unless you're trying to emphasise the strength of it. The problem is bad sound can ruin a video so don't be afraid to add sound effects if needed.

Fantastic video. I have just completed this trail anti clockwise.Silver river at cadamstown is something else.Where else on your trail journey's did you's come across scenery this good!!.keep up the good work.

Today I hiked the section from Cadamstown to Kinnitty. I totally agree that the silver river section is phenomenal! It's great that there is a local link connecting Portlaoise with Birr five times a day stopping at trail heads like Rosenallis, Clonaslee, Cadamstown and Kinitty. So you can access this hidden area nonetheless! Portlaoise has a train station too! One day I'll do the whole trail!
Great video lads thanks for making the effort nice to see all that familiar trails !!!!!... :-) .Just one little correction. Glen Monicknew isnt anywhere near or in Kinnitty ......Its near Bacca on the foot of the Cut the side of Mountains the other side from there !! No biggie I Suppose !!

Anyone know where the bridge at 7:40-7:50 is? It looks like a road crossing a stream/river, intersecting the SB Way. That rain.....
Where abouts was the bench at the end? Was that near Monicknew car park?
Would you say it was strenuous?
Yes, although I don't think we found it as strenuous as we were expecting. It's not easy to do in three days and you definitely would want hiking poles and gaiters if the weather is any less than perfect. There are a few really sustained climbs that definitely take it out of you, but it's very much worth doing. Next time I think I'd do it over four days and have more time to take breaks!
