The section where he speaks about being scared really touched me, how simple life is when you're just rambeling around the countryside, compared to the complexity of modern life and work. Really made me think about whats actually important...
Wow I’m really lost for words. This was a fittingly incredible documentary of the final trail. Thanks for sharing all of it with us, and here’s to the next leg! I don’t for a second think that this will be the last amazing thing you do.
Brilliant finish to a brilliant chapter. .......now keep it going! Write a book on the whole experience.....go heavy on the pics and feelings and it's a winner. Do it!
Thank you so much for the nice comment! This definitely isn’t the end - I’d love to write a book, and many more things! We’ll have to see how it goes ... 📚
Thank you so much for your videos- I'm going hiking in Ireland for the first time soon, and your videos have been both an education-and an inspiration- Congratulations!
Delightful watch thank you so much for sharing. The wife, the kid and I are due to walk the WW in just over a month, it'll be our first Irish walk. It's been wonderful watching your journey. All the best now.
Great video folks and congrats on your achievement! I'm just getting ready to set off for my first, 2 day Wicklow Way ramble, and even though I walked parts of it a lot of times, never done it as kinda one route. The more I'm looking forward to do it next week after watching your video! Thank you 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Ah thank you! And I hope you have a fantastic time! There really is something different about multi-day walking, don’t quite know how to explain it - ellie
I have greatly enjoyed your videos. As one of your other comments mentioned watching them has made me terribly homesick having emigrated from Ireland 30 yrs ago....but watching you both has inspired me to take my Wife Hiking in Ireland next year...I hope you both continue to have many adventures together.
Thank you so much! It’s so wonderful to read comments like yours. I hope you both have a wonderful time hiking next year! I think as long as there are trails to walk we’ll keep having adventures ☺️
Congratulations to both of you. This was an amazing achievement. Thanks for sharing your journey. Everytime I watch one of your videos, it makes me want to get out and do some proper walking. I look forward to the next adventure.
The shiney stone at iron bridge is called shale and it has a multi mix of minerals including iron its all over the high lands and sometimes it has a gold shine off it BTW love the video thank you for your time i hope you enjoyed as much as I do
I visited Ireland 10 or more years ago and St. Kevin’s Kitchen was one of my favorite destinations. I was nearly the only one there and the atmosphere was indescribable. It felt very sacred, like you could feel all of the souls resting there..
Amazing adventure, amazing people and amazingly well-done 😁 everything you have done over the last 3 years were amazing. Looking forward to the tough soles best bits 😉
A brilliant series! Thank both for taking me along. I’ve enjoyed every episode. Please don’t let this be the end of you videos. This has been so much fun and so educational. Your video style is so enjoyable to watch. Congratulations on completing your two and a half year trek. Now, get your boots off and rest!
Congratulations on getting your 42 long distance track. I enjoyed watching your videos. This will definitely make you go for a walk in Ireland. Enough inspiration from you. But what are you going to do now that the goal has been achieved? Don't stop but think of a new theme. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Greetings from Sydney, Australia. Congratulations on your achievement! I have enjoyed this series - even though it has made me tremendously homesick! Well done!
Hello guys, I have come across your channel as I was looking for vids/vlogs about the wicklow way. the vid was great and going to check out all your other vids. As an older person who has ran a little I am looking at moving to trails. Your vid is giving me a great perspective and I definitely will find other routes because of your channel. Thank you for the time and effort you give! New subscriber
well done guys :) my first ever " way" was the Wicklow Way something of a send off for a friend who was moving to Austraila for a year . We loved it so much that every year now me and 3 friends do a hike ,along one of irelands ways . Its been an amazing journey and we have had so many great times along the way from beautiful views to beautiful pints :) we have been following you guys ever since i started and you really are inspirational people !
Wow, this was amazing. The music that you put in starting at the top of Glendalough hit me deep. I'm definitely going to watch more of your videos now, as this was my first. I hope that someday, I can hike some of these trails. :) Thanks for making this!
There's a way of experiencing and knowing a place you only get through walking. You must feel alive with this now. Such an achievement completing the trails, well done!
Thanks Andrew! It definitely gives you a new perspective of a place, and I think I feel a lot more “at home” when I’m outside in a place I don’t know than I might actually living somewhere ... hopefully we’ll eventually cross trails! 👣 Ellie
Well done Guys! Fantastic stuff - watched them all (some twice, lol) - a great achievement and source of info and inspiration for us all - well done again, atb... Sinco
Oh thanks so much!! It was an amazing project. And how lucky we finished it when we did! One more summer and it would have been a different story .. looking forward to documenting and sharing our new adventures ☺️ - ellie
Congratulations to both of you, it's been fun following you on the adventure. It was cool seeing you walk trails I'd done. I'm looking forward to see what challegne you come up with next.
These past couple of weeks, I watched all your hikes, after stumbling upon it by accident (thanks TH-cam suggestions!). I loved every minute of it. I first set foot in Ireland in 2002 and even though I have seen a lot of the country, these hikes showed me there is so much more to discover! Amazing scenery, and you inspired me to try long distance walking myself, and once we're allowed to travel abroad again, I'd love to try some of these trails. Thank you so much for these videos, they allowed me to revisit a country I love dearly, and also allowed me to escape the bizar world we still live in these days! Curious about what else you might go and explore once travel restrictions get lifted again.
Well done, what an achievement! Having watched your videos with interest it's so very fitting that I could follow this final adventure while consulting your very own Tough Soles set of maps! Thank you for capturing in an entertaining and informative way this set of Irish trail walks. Looking forward to following you on your next adventure. Be proud.
Congrats! Just finished the PCT and have had plans since I did the AT that when I finished the CDT (next year), I would go to Ireland and hike across it. But I love the idea of hiking all the trails! Love the video!
Well done, really massive achievement and I've been following your progress from nearly the beginning. Anyway just wanted to say this is not the end, there's various Caminos, The AT, the PCT, New Zealand, Scotland Peak District etc etc, the world is your oyster. You could also do motivational speaking, a book launch, tour group guiding....so not the end, just the beginning!
Congratulations guys. Amazing series and an amazing achievement fair play to ye. If you're looking for your next adventure I hear the West Highland Way is amazing!
Excellent stuff guys. You almost had me crying at the end. Having walked to Santiago and done the TMB I know how emotional It can be to face back home. Looking forward to the Next part of your adventure together . Wherever that may find you. Big well done again. P.S you should do a book.
Hi Martin - thanks for your comment! There really is something powerful in finishing a trail or a project. Looking forward to sharing whatever comes next for us! And yes, would love to do a book - hopefully I can put together something this year 🤞😄 - Ellie
18:20 it's a shame they don't change the actual trail to this, because most people are still gonna end up walking down the regular forestry roads to get to Glendalough - the wicklow way isn't exactly lacking forestry roads as it is!
We also left a water bottle on the bus on our way to the trail, and I then accidentally left half my toiletries in Tinahely. Even our gear knew it was the end
Walking via the Spinc was the right choice. The forest road Wicklow Way is not pleasant and you would have missed all hose spectacular views of Glendalough and Camaderry. By the way, that wooden stairway has been replaced by a zig zag trail.
What a wonderful adventure. I can't tell you how melancholy I felt watching your video. My partner and I did this walk in 2018 th-cam.com/video/hrAnByXQObE/w-d-xo.html and we loved it so much. We loved the country and the people that we encountered on our journey. Your adventure brought flooding memories back and I thank you for your wonderful adventure, which helped me relive our hike. I can't wait to come back to Ireland and enjoy another hiking adventure. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to watching more of your adventures.
Oh thank you for the lovely message! I love how watching a video or looking at photos can bring you right back to a moment. Watching your video I laughed during your introduction at around the 2 and a half minute mark, because I'm always the one to forget the names of places, and Carl is always the one behind the camera telling me where we were! Thank you for sharing your adventure too!
Tough Soles I’m glad you got the chance to watch out adventure and thank you for your quick response. I have hit your bell and S U B B E D so that I can watch some more of your adventures. Thanks to you and Carl, you have inspired us. We were going to be doing The St James Camino in September but due to COVID-19 that has all come to an end. Hopefully next year. Have a great weekend, cheers Joseph & Peter.
Fab stuff! Enjoyed the journey. Have been following your progress over the last few months. I did the Wicklow Way back in June, and made a short film too, so it was fun (and a little odd!) to see all those routes again. In fact, I might even have a little PTSD! I missed the passport stamp locations, so that's a pity. Good plan to include The Spinc, and having gone the official way, I can confirm you didn't miss much. Have you done Declan's Way yet? I don't think it's listed yet as a waymarked trail, but it should be; it certainly is fully sign-posted. Worth a look, anyway. Here's my own film project: th-cam.com/video/RI_iymdQ1pU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cnd7npyVWc1Ctjml What are ye guys up to now?

I can't wait to find out about your next project 😁
Haha I wonder what it could be 😉
Thank you so much for this video. I am from Wicklow but live in the UK. I miss home a great deal, thank you for your efforts.
Superb achievement, to complete all trails and document them in such an excellent way.
Thank you very very much! 😄

Ellie, I’m coming to do the Ireland way in June. How bout a video on food and gas resupply please?
18:20 it's a shame they don't change the actual trail to this, because most people are still gonna end up walking down the regular forestry roads to get to Glendalough - the wicklow way isn't exactly lacking forestry roads as it is!
Audibly gasped at 12:25
We also left a water bottle on the bus on our way to the trail, and I then accidentally left half my toiletries in Tinahely. Even our gear knew it was the end
But you got your orange fleece jumper back ! Sorry it got "lost" in my car boot ! 😄
And you'll have it for the next adventures!
Walking via the Spinc was the right choice. The forest road Wicklow Way is not pleasant and you would have missed all hose spectacular views of Glendalough and Camaderry. By the way, that wooden stairway has been replaced by a zig zag trail.
Where was the trail with the wooden bridge and the passport stamp please?
If you look up the Laragh glenmacnase river trail, and the Wicklow Trail Passport you should find details for it! ☺️
