Volvo has changed their plans about only BEVs by 2030 due to market realities. Overall, I think this is an excellent update of a modern Volvo. They're back to Scandinavian simplicity but with a luxury sense. As far as the screens go that so many complain about, they're just screens. If you go anywhere there are screens for functions in use so why should cars be any different. I think there should be more buttons but the screens are just for information. Don't ignore the rest of the details in the car because you're overly focused on the screens.
Love this vehicle but for that price point I need more than 300 miles. I love the Minimalist approach but I do miss conventional buttons! Great review Danger Zone 🤣🫡
Small suggestion: No car reviewer ever gets in the third row with someone sitting in the 2nd row. I think you all should, it makes sense. As someone is climbing in the 3rd row, they should put their seatbelt on, then the 2nd row passenger should be right there to move the seat back to a reasonable position, climb in, and put their seatbelt on. That’s real life and that’s how 3 row SUV’s are used. So basically I need to see a “Lyn” sitting behind a “Mike Danger”, and for S’s & G’s Micha can drive lol.
Easier said than done! On these trips, I’m usually filming by myself… so getting another person to hop in the shot is kinda tough. But, it is a great idea for when someone is around! I’ll try it out next time.
there is no need. this car won’t seat an adult in their row unless it’s a small person or it’s a 5 mins ride. Period. If you think otherwise you shouldn’t be buying a car.
Actually, Volvo backtracked on that plan to go all electric by 2030. Instead they’re now taking a page out of Ford’s playbook by having a combination of gas cars, electric cars and hybrids. I mean they could be 100% all electric by 2035 if not by 2040 or 2045. But just like those other automakers, I think they’re making a move. That’s not very good.
I'm stoked about the volvo EM90 im not a big fan of lane changing assist but im more comfortable with the lane keeping assist which keeps me in the lane if I'm going off a little bit
"Embedding" simple controls like side view mirrors and HVAC Vents in the Center Screen is one of the most infuriating form of cost cutting I have ever seen in cars. Its also sad that a brand known for their sensible design decisions is succumbing to this. It is a great looking car, ngl, but these minor things are a major deal breaker. At least to me.
Guess you’ve never heard of “Scandinavian design”. It’s a hallmark in the design: clean, modern, well thought out spaces. It’s been around for 100 years.
@@rustlesee that doesn't mean it's interesting or translated well to a vehicle cabin. Just sticking 2 screens on the dash without integrating them at all isn't good design. They've done better before and still want cluttered. This is them following trends
Volvo has always had understated interiors. This is very much in the Volvo understated tradition. "Minamalist" is a Tesla thing. Volvos are understated.
Telling you taking eyes off the road is vad but also having everything on the screen and forcing you to take eyes off the road even for somehind as simple as adjusting mirrors is just stupid.
Once your used to Tesla Autopilot, it’s not possible to buy another car without it. It’s like using an iPhone and then buying a blackberry of the old days - you cannot. So the pilot assistant is a fail.
@@stevenrichard2196 That makes it Chinese. The Chinese own the company, The manufacturing, The technology, The engineering, and they write the checks. Volvos are a Chinese product
bland in a bad way front end, goofy wheels, ruined the interior with the non-integrated stuck on iPad'ish screens. Bummer to see these mis-steps. Honest question, is Volvo Swedish at all anymore or is it Chinese?

Thank you Mr. Giles!
300 is enough. Also its wen car is full with people.
Excellent video Mike!😸
Car manufacturers getting nervous everytime a 6 feet 4" car journalist shows up 😂
😂
Great review Mr. Danger!

What's with the weird bots and the comments? If there's 3 human made comments on this video I'd be surprised.

Danger has been lifting weights. Great content. Not a fan of the interior a little too minamilst, i need some physical buttons.
the car very visibly raising and lowering and the seats folding or not would be the feedback he's seeking from the capacitive buttons in the trunk 🙄🙄
Nice 😊
what color is the one you drove? is it vapour grey?
This baby's beautiful
It looks like a Volvo. The hidden headlights are a.gimmick. About time this hit the market. It's been a while since it was teased.
Bro you are bigger then 99% of all people. Last row is perfect for 6 feet people.
@1:15 I see someone has already curbed the wheels...

I don't understand why EVs I'll have to have terrible eco interior materials when people just want comfy old school leather
Minimalist interior design for cars looks boring and lazy. Volvo used to have beautiful interiors.

I feel the same way with the XC90, the only real change is to the screen now looking stuck on. I think volvo can do better.
