  • @waynerm002

Beautiful car, it's great to see them improve the noise levels on this. When the XC90 launched, I drove one and was disappointed with the road and tire noise, my KIA Optima Hybrid was quieter. Dealers were saying bigger tires equals more noise, I said a lot more money for "luxury" means they should have made it quieter. With everything going into the screen, they should make sure the software is working correctly. Even though it's a press launch, folks will be skeptical of getting one as the XC90 was plagued with issue for a couple of year after launch and this seems like a recipe for a repeat. I do hope that isn't the case as they are asking big money for this, then again, there are a lot of folks that will be waiting for these things to have issues and pick one up used once the software issue have been ironed out and the price drops massively.
The 308 mile (probably 300 like the Polestar 3) range for the dual motor version sounds about right but, will be more like 270 in real world driving. The drive showed the car to be pretty smooth for riding on 22" wheel and tires, that is a big plus. I am surprised though that this top spec version didn't have perforated seats for cooled seats, as someone else mentioned, without the electrochromatic treatment, if like the XC90, the glass will let in some heat. The bottoms level of the screen could be replaced with hard buttons but, I suspect the voice control should work well for use while driving, haven't seen anyone test those yet.

There a few things that bug me that weren't mentioned here.
    1. The "panny" roof has no motorised shade nor electrochromatic shade. Other reviews have complained about the heat coming through in direct sun.
    2. The rear cupholders are dreadful, too small, block you from using the armrest and are akward to open with the double flaps

@dcvariousvids8082 true. The other aspects of the implementation into the arm rests are more annoying.

@@Stewiedude1 I agree with you. The price is high, but here in Denmark where I'm from the EX90 is about 15.000 USD cheaper than a XC90 with similar specs. That is due to our crazy taxation on ICE cars. That is why the EX90 is a no brainer for me, so I can live with the lousy cupholder in the back while I sit in the front 🙂

Nic the intro was perfect as that is who will be buying this car primarily not someone that lives in a medieval city in Europe. I agree with the touchscreen for everything though they need some knobs and buttons and how hard is it to add a handle to open the glovebox. The test will be with a range test and efficiency and of course charging(not claimed but real world). If EuroNCAP goes ahead with their 'threat' if you want to call it that could be that a Volvo doesn't get a 5-Star safety rating that won't go down well in the Volvo Boardroom in Stockholm. All the music except the classic...Beach Boys of course. :)

Getting in and out of the 3rd row seems jenky. You can't close the door behind you, if you are the first one in and are getting in the back to make it easier/faster at the next stop to load more people. You also can't get out if you are the last one and are in the back row, because you can't unlatch that door from back there to step out. I appreciate that if it helps people carpool, it's a plus. I suppose if people are going to continue to have more than two kids, or are going to bring 3 generations, then at least it can serve as a cramped people carrier, like the Model X did almost a decade ago.

The passing comparison to Range Rover Nicola made possibly puts the £100k price into some sort of context, especially if it can also do serious towing and off road. Clearly real thought has gone into the design. My problem is while the Google brain is a good idea, the iPad on the dashboard is just terrible and I would never buy it, just as I would never buy a Tesla.

Of course it’s a lovely car (and has to be for the price), but in the UK one for the Chelsea tractor school-run and pretty much nothing else.

Great review, but you're a bit unlucky with the UK pricing, the top variant here starts at £92k and the base around £82k, which is still 15% extra over the top spec EV9.
Considering that software is the reason the car is delayed in what condition it was in when it originally should have hit the market🤔 Heads up display was also not ready in this pre-production version, or just not tested?

      For 96k you get:
Bowers and Wilkins stereo (that option cost 7k in a BMW)
      Air Suspension
      400 bhp
4 upholstery options at no extra cost
Insulated acoustic glass on all windows
      Massaging seats
      Wood veneer
      Power folding third row
      250kW fast charging
      And a lot more
What more do you expect from this car?!?

Almost deleted in the first several seconds due to that American drawl but realised it's just a joke.😂😂. But I really enjoyed the review, it was entertaining. The woman is very down to earth and I bet she has helped sell this car. I'd buy one if Elon gave me the money.😂😂

This for me is definitely a classier design than the EV9, but it should really be similarly priced. It’s not a £100k car!
Price will stop it being a UK big seller, but I’m sure Volvo will shift what they build, probably mostly in America. But, if money wasn’t an object, I’d have one on my drive tomorrow!

if most families have two cars - surely quite a bit cheaper to just drive in convoy for those long trips where you need to ferry a bunch of people around? How often does one person need to shift 6 passengers where one of the others can’t drive, to justify that price gap??
