As a teacher, I performed this for my advanced maths class. We had spent the lesson looking at the probabilities of events with cards happening, so when I ended on this, they were so blown away. Just one of the best cars tricks ever. It is also so easy to cull into this routine from a shuffled deck.
"it must be about 20 years old" More than twice that. Simon published Shuffle-Bored as a pamphlet in 1980. It is currently available in an omnibus edition with other early books as Bound to Please.
I learnt it from the Big Blind Media DVD Ultimate Self Working Card Tricks (Vol 1). I must look it up again! There are loads of brilliant tricks on there.
The Aaronson shuffle board principle is amazing. I take a white deck and write letters on every card. Then perform this effect. At the end, the cards facing down answer a question (example: who is the greatest magician in the world? - then the cards spell out my name). It is self working magic but it absolutely kills, I performed this to some family members who have seen a looooot of magic and even know some basic concepts, and they just were totally and absolutely fooled, at the end they checked all my pockets to see where the hell I had "hidden the extra cards that I just switched out" or something. I love, love love this principle, it is just so versatile. And self-working.
For anyone interested, it's also on Liam Montier's Essential Card Magic Toolbox on Disk #1-Ulitmate Self Working Card Tricks. FYI...it's 8 DVD's of tricks, slights, false shuffles, forces, controls, elmsley counts...all you need.
EXCEPT isn't spelled with an A. Accept is a completely different word, it means to believe or recognize as valid. HAHAHAH! Aldo did a great version of this, too.
One of the very first tricks I learned of the Paul green DVD, brilliant and still one of the first tricks I show people today, great find graig keep them coming, 🤣
Hi Craig, I came back to this routine to find out where you learned it. I performed it for a friend today and it blew his socks off, I mentioned 52 factorial beforehand to add to the impossibility on his own mind. I’m creating a website and beginning to market myself as a magician. I plan to use shuffleboard professionally and I want to make sure the creator gets their fair payment for giving me such a great routine. The reaction of your friend was tame in comparison to mine, he was laughing uncontrollably right from the first reveal
Firstly, FYI - It's actually called Shuffle BORED. Also, I believe the 'folded' prediction reveal was actually Ali Bongo's suggestion and NOT Paul Green (?).. willing to be proven wrong - can someone please confirm, thanks. 😊 Also, a (glaring) spelling error on the prediction, but an easy mistake to make - Just saying. 😮
I'm pretty sure Shuffle Bored is in Bound To Please. I love Lennart Green's take on this. His routine is called Rain Man, and he builds 8 predictions into the effect. Well worth checking out once you have learned Aronson's original.
I also learned it from the big blind media DVD and I also purchase the bunny book which is a beautiful little children book that goes through all of the predictions after you do all the shuffling pretty good and there's also a bonus page with a completely different card if you care to force a card and have that be the ending I did this trick for the first time for a friend of mine you may have heard of him Al Snyder and he thought that I had screwed up the trick when I asked what was the name of the card you selected knowing full well a card had not been selected and then I went through the money book and he was completely blown away. I love when you can blow somebody away with itself working trick.

@@Davidblaine18 this is such a strange place to start an argument? I don't know who liked my comment.
That's awesome man! I always liked the idea of Math teachers showing off the magic they can do with Mathematic principles

What an unbelievable hidden gem! Love it! Watching this one year after publication, Matt sure improved his card shuffling skills since back then :)

He's a keeper Craig, we all love a spectator like this
Simon Aronson was a genius.

Curiously, neither is bored. Simon's name for this trick was Shuffle Bored, not Shuffle Board
Such a good routine, literally a classic in card magic 🙌
Joshua jay has an impromptu shuffleboard that is stunning on his 2nd penguin live lecture👍

Awesome!!!
Great stuff. One thing: your prediction should read "EXCEPT the Ace of Spades..." not "accept..."
People make spelling mistakes sometimes, you need to except it.
Great pickup CM!
@@MichaelLawrenceMagic It's "expect", genius!!! wait...

Great info Craig..Just luv your channel🎉
Dan White has the best version of this I’ve ever seen. He performed it on Jimmy Fallon. Search for it. It’s awesome.

I do John bannons version of this, but it’s not as good as this one 👏🏽
That was fantastic Craig. And I love the idea of going over some Penguin Live lecture routines !!
I have been using my phone photos for the predictions
Love Matt's teaction
Stop giving Craig grief over his spelling!
Oh, and "Wednesdays" shouldn't have an apostrophe, and "every day" is two words. 😄
