Speaking of George magazines. The Feb. 1997 is the crown jewel of those. If you see one in a lot, someone doesn't know what they have. Great video as always!
I'm not sure what makes this one so great but it sure brings the big bucks. It has a Survival Guide For The Future and an article by Bill Gates. A bunch of politics and that's about all I know. What impresses me is one selling for about $1400 and averaging 5 to $800. Those are sold numbers The want numbers areE really crazy! @@helpfulcommenter
@@helpfulcommenter That particular issue has articles about the future and talks about things like the pandemic of 2020, etc. Preppers like it. This issue can go for thousands of $$$$ Others can go for $40 each, but, from what I've heard is that it has predictions of the future that are coming true. It says "Survival of the Future" on it.
Old Thrashers and Transworld and Big Brother magazines. Some old catalogs can sell too. I sold a bunch of Sierra On-Line magazines and catalogs for a lot (old PC game company that did Kings Quest, Police Quest etc)
Personally, I've been buying & subscribing to magazines since the 1970s as a kid & I still have some of those 1970s Teen Beat, Tiger Beat, 16, various fashion & home decor magazines & some other magazines of my relatives, but unfortunately, had to toss some of those out due to mold. They weren't valuable. However, I did have a whole bunch of paranormal & psychic/magic books from the 1970s and earlier that I got at the bins a handful of years ago & had to toss them out as well due to mold. Major shame as I would have kept them for myself. Most folks don't know this but the mold spores will contaminate a home just from books or magazines if it's in there & many times you can't see it.
Excellent tutorial, Shane ! Put in the homework and know what to watch for. Although, some of the ones that sold for the most for me, I had no idea about. Just saw some cool, old magazines and bought them for next to nothing. Listed individually and got over $100.00 each. Those were trade magazines for the 5 & dime stores and also trade magazines for dishes and glass manufacturers from late 50's and early 60's. Only ever found any of them once, at different places. You gotta buy them when you see them, and it does help to have an idea of what folks want. Good video !
Great info!! I really like your input on the items. More interesting than just looking by myself. Just bought on an auction a few lots of the Fantasy and Science Fiction books. Looking forward to listing them. I see one of the books I bought goes for over $80! Also another side note: I worked with one of the publishers from Weird NJ (great mag) before the mag came out. He would go to old man bars and just ask the locals what is weird in the area and printed his findings in a little newsletter, now has a successful magazine and is on TV once and a while.
6:27 I was thinking, "This is Alabama and Shane is from Tennessee! He said "wrestling!" ?????? Then at 6:35 LOLOLOL 23:01 Speaking of teen magazines, I'll bet a lot of Tiger Beat magazines from the 60's would sell well. If mine were still around, they would probably be covered with my writing in ink "I Love Bobby Sherman!" 26:46 Interesting about the Cross Stitch magazines. I should have tons of those upstairs. I know I have a huge lot of cross stitch ephemera from when I cross stitched like a maniac. Probably 20 intricate projects I started, then found something else to stitch. I had two boxes of every single color of DMC thread. I really do need to lot those up and get them out of the house. I'm old and have cataracts. I doubt I will ever do any more cross stitching.
I love mag lots at sales. Usually cheap as they know they are difficult to sell. I usually list anything ~$15+ single. What does not sell, I wait 6+ months. If not traction or takers, I list everything in a lot. There's always a collector needing at least that 1 copy.
Have you ever sold old hot rod magazines? I have about 700 from veris year and name. I lester a few but im not getting much response. I have them for around 5$.
I have sold old hot rod mags- unless they are way older like 60s or back, I have best luck putting them in lots. Lot by year always works good. Also lot by style or make works good- ie, Chevy big block , Mustang, Corvette, etc. individual sales don’t usually work for me on them- too much time and effort for profit one at a time. But together you can get $20, $30, $50, etc. Just make sure of shipping box size and cost if you lot. Don’t get burned on shipping. New USPS Ground advantage is working good for mags.
