    “It’s a lifestyle”
Lifestyle indicates you specifically chose to live that way. I doubt most fellow trans people would actively choose to live a “trans lifestyle” in our very transphobic society.

Yeah, when I thought I was a cis man, I took for granted that I could safely travel to all 50 states and most foreign countries. Now all of a sudden I need to avoid half the states.
Even without the bigotry, it's hard just finding women's shoes in my size. Or dresses that fit me properly.
This is still so much better than trying to live as a man when I'm not one, though.

@@electronics-girl I will not be visiting those states either out of fear my androgynous nonbinary self will be mistaken for the “wrong gender” and attacked.
I’d rather live as my authentic self than screw up my mental health again trying to be someone I’m not.
Why are all the trans friendly states so damn expensive to live in?

    • @electronics-girl
      @electronics-girl ปีที่แล้ว +7

@@LeadTrumpet1 I guess because more densely populated areas are more expensive, and more densely populated areas also tend to be more liberal?
I was lucky enough to already live in California when I realized I was trans.
I don't know if maybe Illinois would be a good "sweet spot?" I think it's fairly trans-friendly, and although it's not super-cheap, it's much less expensive than California.

I am not on tik tic. A personal choice. I think a lot of content is either boring, nasty or a combination of both. Disagreeing with someone is totally fine. You can disagree and get on with your lives. Samantha is a biological male. That is a scientific fact. I dont care if Samatha has his ear cut off and glued to his leg. If I met him....I would call him by the name Samantha....but only Samantha I would not be using pronouns. However, I would try to use Samantha throughout conversation ie the name Samantha. Samantha can dress, date, eat, go on holiday..... Use women's restrooms and changing rooms as long as there are cubicles, as I don't like getting undressed in front of any human being. I cannot understand why disagreeing with someone is hate. Samantha is a biological male. If he feels more comfortable presenting as a female, so be it. However truth is truth and although Samantha is very pretty, he is still a male. That being said I cannot understand why other people and Samantha wrestle back and forward being downright nasty to each other. Threatening to kill Samantha's family etc is just downright nasty. But Samantha then goes on to be nasty back. ...and so it goes on back and forward with every post. There is no need for being this nasty to Samantha. If he feels comfortable presenting as a woman. Leave him alone to get on with his life. I dont hate anyone, but truth is truth. Samantha was born male and will always be male. I am female and will always be female. However , stop threatening people and being nasty to Samantha. You can be truthful without being nasty. You can disagree with someone without hating then

As a trans guy, who still looks very feminine… I have been attacked in the women’s bathrooms. I still go there, because I have too large a bust to feel comfortable in the men’s yet. But the occasions where I did, the men just shifted about uncomfortably. I’ve also seen cis woman attack over cis woman because “they look too manly, they must be a man”.
As someone with a bad bladder, and needs to go to the loo often. The fear that has been installed in me from people’s reactions, this is the reason I’m becoming more and more of a shut in. People don’t care what you’re born as or identify, they go entirely on how you look.

I'm cis woman but their bias are too baffling for me. They don't think trans women are women and all men to them equal horny rapists. So these women are actually... Sexists. They not only hate women who don't look and live like them, but they also hate men.

Man I can relate so much, I'm also a trans guy on my way to get T but now I still don't dare use the men's bathroom and I get weird looks and the hint "you must've mistaken this with the men's room" soo often. Luckily no attacks yet, don't think it's that polarized in my country yet.
But I don't know going to the toilet has just become this hugely uncomfortable and sometimes even scary thing, and I also need to go very often so.. it just sucks
One way I try to work around it, I try to mostly go to places now that have gender neutral bathrooms, there are quite a few in my city and whenever I find one I write it down
I get why you're becoming anxious I hope however you have people you can confide in and that you find ways to live your life freely and fully :) sending you strength!

I'm a pre-op trans woman, and I've been offered the women's bathrooms a few times but I still wouldn't feel safe in there until I look more feminine and have a higher voice. With all the men saying they'd yank a trans woman out of a women'sbathroom and beat them up, it isnt safe for me to do that yet. That's what transphobes don't understand - trans women won't walk into a bathroom just to hurt people.
I can't remember his name, but he was forced to use the women's bathroom because he was born female, got beaten up for obeying, and then arrested for defending himself.

Thissss! I’m a cis woman so I can’t relate personally but I was watching a Jammidodger video and there was another cis woman posting about how her coworker (a trans man) was in the women’s restroom with her. She was complaining that he had facial hair and looked very masculine. When she confronted him about why he was in the women’s room and not the men’s, he stated that he was told he had to as he has two X chromosomes and had not had bottom surgery yet. She was infuriated and ranting on the post about how uncomfortable she felt using the same restroom as this trans person.
But this is what these transphobes want though.. they’ll scream all day about how “if you’re born a woman, you’ll always be woman” and that “trans men shouldn’t be allowed in women’s restrooms” yet are uncomfortable when they get what they want. This is why people are fighting for gender neutral bathrooms; so that neither cis nor trans people are uncomfortable and can just use the bathroom in peace. But transphobes are angry about that too. They don’t even know what they want. They just want to hate and be angry at trans people even daring to exist and be humans. It’s sad, really.
I’m replying a year after you posted your comment and I hope you’ve made progress in your transition journey in whatever way that means to you and that you’re happy and healthy. And I hope you’ve had better bathroom experiences since then 😆 and that you don’t run into transphobes very often

NO ONE shares some exact "experience" of being a man or a woman, that is why we define a woman as an adult FEMALE, they are all of the same sex, that is what defines them. "Man" or "woman" are not some moral judgement or evaluation of how masculine or feminine they feel or present, it's simply about having a term to describe any adult human male and any adult human female.
This obsession that the "trans" community has with redefining the terms to reflect how they feel etc. is totally pointless. There are no people who truly feel 100% comfortable all of the time, the idea of labelling people "cis" or "trans" is completely unnecessary, there is no "cis" experience and there is no "trans" experience, people are individuals, and as a whole the community fails to come up with any coherent explanation to define their redefinition of "woman" because you cannot come up with a definition that caters to every possibility. That is why the terms "man" and "woman" being rooted in physical reality is the only thing that makes sense, if there are no clear parameters for a definition then it cannot function as a definition. If anyone can identify as a grablar, and the only definition of being a grablar, is feeling like identifying as one, then you haven't defined grablar as anything at all. This is why it is also an obsession with creating more and more boxes.
The terms "man" and "woman" encompass every possible personality, within physical boundaries, any man or woman is free to act, think, look, behave however they want, that they as individuals are labelled as men or women is purely about the physical - saying a man is an adult human male, and a woman an adult human female does not restrict anyone's self-expression, not wanting to acknowledge one's physical reality is a fool's errand, the sex someone is doesn't change based on how anyone feels or dresses - so it is the "trans" side that 100% is creating this false narrative that acknowledging a person's sex is somehow restrictive, they are the side saying men or women behave like this or that. I mean if they weren't doing that, then they would agree that the umbrella terms based on sex, man and woman, were perfectly fine - but they don't! They say no no, if someone doesn't FEEL like the sex they are, they can't be it, though they cannot explain what "feeling cis" even really means, because NO ONE shares the exact same experiences emotionally. What "they" are trying to do is swap a definition that has a physical basis, for a definition that is entirely rooted in feelings and often in validating sexist stereotypes associated with either sex.
This "woman is a social construct" thing IS the part that validates and perpetuates sexist stereotypes - woman isn't a social construct in that sense, it is a word society has chosen yes, but to describe a PHYSICAL state of being, not anyone's emotional states or where they fall on some spectrum of masculinity or femininity. There is a fundamental misunderstanding here of what the definition of man and woman means. The notion that people need to live up to sexist stereotypes of what "real men" or "real women" are, is complete fantasy. The fact that many people act as if sexist stereotypes were valid ways of measuring "real men" or real women" is a problem with the individual and their sexist bias, not with the terms themselves, as the terms themselves have none of the expectational baggage that people who internalise sexist stereotypes associate with them.

I have seen a number of trans women say they have a monthly hormonal cycle with period-like symptoms. Whether that counts as a "period" or not is just semantics. No trans women are claiming that they bleed as part of their period. Obviously that's impossible. But some trans women experience PMS and cramps. Bathrooms have stalls.
And second, be consistent and be uncomfortable sharing the bathroom with everyone, because its silly to worry about one persons genitalia, meanwhile everyone else might not have the same genitalia and you will never know.

Theres literally a video of a cis woman being harrased in the bathrooms cause someone thought she was trans.
So no you wouldn't know, also, not all cis people look exactly like their gender, some people look very natural androgynous.
Just don't harrass anyone in the bathrooms, its basic common courtesy, and using your head, whether you think they're trans or not, harrasing people is stupid, let them use the bathroom in peace.

    • @LucyArcangeli
      @LucyArcangeli 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Forcing trans women into men's bathrooms not only disregards their right to use the bathroom that aligns with their gender identity, but also puts them in harm's way. Trans people, especially trans women, face a significantly higher risk of violence and harassment in men's restrooms, primarily at the hands of cisgender men. In fact, a study by the National Center for Transgender Equality found that 12% of transgender people experienced physical violence in a public place due to their gender identity.
Meanwhile, the rate of sexual assault of trans women by cis women in women's bathrooms is virtually non-existent. By allowing trans women to use the bathroom that aligns with their gender identity, we can reduce the risk of violence and harassment they face. Let's prioritize respect and safety for all individuals, regardless of gender identity.

And as a trans man, I will say that I find it strange in these kinds of videos where we (and other non-binary identities) are just completely overlooked and ignored. I'm not sure why some cisgender women get so heated about how they had to grow up being extra careful and super afraid of everyone and everything, being told they can't do certain things "because you're a girl", etc....I have also experienced these things my whole life and I am a man. Other trans men and non-binary people have also experienced this. Point is, there is no accounting for every single person and their life experience, so to be so gate-keepy is just silly.

I find that gender critical people have what is known in psychology as a fixed mindset. These are people who believe that talents and abilities are innate and acquired from birth, rather than being skills which are developed over time. The reason I say this is because they have an obsessive pride over what biology they are born with, and they flaunt it like an accomplishment (even though it is not). It might stem from some insecurities about their own personalities and sense of worth, since they tend to be fairly untalented in many hobbies and skills (just look at their poetry). For people who have a fixed mindset, they often turn to things that they are born with that make them unique and use that as the basis of their security. A lot of them treat womanhood as a VIP club, and when they feel that it is more than a birthright, it undermines their sense of security that they have built.

It is engraved into our human history; and the fact that there's individuals so ignorant to the worlds history of gender fluidity (in areas) is mind blowing. It isn't a concept that "crazy liberals" made up... there were rulers and kings that were openly gay and trans, and guess what, it wasn't a huge topic of discussion. I used to perceive myself as such too before it was pointed out to me that I am not cis and that I bristled at feminine terms [I started to when quarantine hit]. Now I see myself as a transmasc dude who's multigender, nonbinary, agender, trans male, and genderfaun (a form of genderfluid that's on the masc side, which is what I can summarise it as), and I've never been happier as with me being trans.
The truth is... There's still going to be struggle and there's still going to be loads of mental and emotional pain (pertaining to internalised transphobia felt and bigoted shit one is ingrained with from birth), but there's supportive folks who can help, plus trans-related support groups and (if you can and genuinely want to on your own accord of course) maybe a therapist or therapist intern may help too.

I kinda pass as male if you don't know me, and have had people refer to me as both male and female, especially if i don't talk first. For me, going into the "right bathroom" is always a gamble, because i don't know if the person in there will see me as male or female, or if that person will attack me. Choosing the women's bathroom doesn't work for me, because not only is it not who I am, but the women in there might see me, a man, in there and be just as uncomfortable as i am. Choosing the men's bathroom is more accurate, but again, the men in there might see a woman.
