Great review, very informative and I liked how he was honest and didn't just praise it to the high heavens. I think it fits the market as the RSQ8 will be the Urus's cheaper brother. Cant wait for more reviews on upcoming audi S & RS models.

The SUV’s never get an RS version because it is kind of pointless really... Even the URUS is kind of a gimmick. I really doubt it drives anything like the other lambo models.
This is a diesel precisely for that purpose. They need to make sure they bump up the price as much as possible while investing as little as possible., so that they can get margins of maybe 200%. I've heard rumors in the industry it' close to 800%, the profit margin. A cullinan allegedly costs around 50k to make and it sells for 500k. Coming back to this, they throw in a petrol engine, bit tuned up, which is probably cheaper than a diesel, like this one and charge 4x times, and add some styling details...and you get an Urus."easy money"

@@MrAlpinab7 actually not quite "easy money " with all costs associated to design, testing, tooling, marketing etc...margins are tighter. where very massive profits are on the lower scale models, high production numbers, fleet sales, etc.

Great. A journalist found a V8 audi spaceship with an s badge the he just describes as "adequate" in speed. I cannot wait till 5-10 years from now when this will be affordable and useable fun.

Nah, you can't compare Audi with Lambo....the brand itself outprices Audi any day....not the spec.... ppl dont by lambo for performance, they buy it to showoff....you could get some tuned MKII Golf that performs better than a Lambo...for 1/10th that price.
Don't worry, the lambo probably costs less to fabricate as well. To me, it's only a fashion icon, i live in Bucharest, Romania, and we see them every every day. We don't even notice Uruses, they already look like taxis, and besides saying "look at me, i'm filthy rich" i think they look cheap and like a matchbox car. They are expensive, but they look cheap, low quality. A well specced Bentayga looks qualitative.

Good Review. It seemed to me that Thomas liked the 2016 SQ7 (same engine and so on) and now you say the drivetrain and transmission isn't good enough? At least for now, every review on youtube is praising the driving of the SQ8 when it comes to acceleration and picking up speed. I hope since Thomas did the S6 and S7 review he will do the SQ7 review as well.
Well AJ is more focussed on sportscars while Thomas prefers a little more comfort - and it's totally fine that not everyone from the team has the very same focus =)

How come Q8 ia about 150kg heavier than Q7 and S versions Haven similar weight ?
Everyone is complaining about the new SQ8 that it is a Diesel, fake exhaust and stuff. Yeah I hate the fake exhaust too. But the engine is pure class. So much torque and pretty decent specs. The SQ8 will be a big seller. If you want a Super SUV you wait for the RSQ8 or buy the URUS. The SQ8 is not a super suv.
Audi SQ8 V8 is a very cool technology and very rally.
Master Razvan Porsche will be better in every department.

the only problem with the q8/sq8 is Audi over designed the taillight. Should’ve kept the lights separate rather then join them up with the light bar. That makes the car look cheap from behind. Same goes with the daytime running light, trying to be fancy but lost the elegance.
If the mild hybrid only runs ancillary systems, and doesn't run the wheels, how does the V8 shut off during highway coasting? Wouldn't the car stop moving eventually?
Drivetrain is being declutched, so it keeps rolling - and all other systems are powered by the separate lithium ion battery meanwhile whereas usually the motor would keep running to take care of those.
The torque curve is there, so the 900 foot pounds doesnt tear the thing in half.
Driving here in a fast car must be scary and exciting at the same time...

The throttle and gearbox response seams to be delayed in many of Audi's models.

Christian Ø. Rasmussen Somewhere in a magazine or on TH-cam I came across someone who said it was a result of changes made to improve emissions. Obviously that wouldn’t apply to electric cars. I can’t believe any engineer would consider such sluggish reactions desirable, so I don’t know what the explanation is.

Regrettably it seems that new queer tradition of fake exhaust pipes along with engine sound imitated with aid of sound systems grows...these 'rectifications' herald new sad times in automotive industry, times of pretending
They’re aesthetics, but they do look nice and the sound may be partly fake too but it sounds nice too. The carbon fibre front lip splitter and rear spoiler on my S3 do nothing to the car, but they look nice. I like the exhausts.

I can't believe you think its acceptable how can it look impressive when you can clearly see its fake and badly done!

A bit of a sloppy review. I take issue with the comment saying that the car's fine for going at high speeds in a straight line. Without any comparison, this to me suggests it is no competition to the Cayenne which I find to be a very reasonable performer around bends. Fuel performance of "11" doesn't make sense either as anyone mildly into auto should know this can potentially mean 11L/100km or 11 miles per gallon. TH-cam being international, I don't know which this is referring to. Beautiful car though..

I really don't get what your'e on about the performance of this car. 0-100 in 4,8 sec is quick and it's not even the RS...... Complaining because you are not pushed back into your seat whe accelerating blows my mind. This is a family car and I'm sure the guy who can afford to transport his family in this wheels doesn't give a shit about getting pushed back into his seat or for that matter getting alluminium paddle shifters made by Ferrari. You want track performance get yourself a real sports car. Your immature way of presenting this luxury suv is frustrating and I think I'll skip your next one.

Why a v8 engine only have 435hp?
Because V8 means that it has 8 cylinders. Horsepower comes from many other factors, like how much fuel it uses, the cylinder size, and how far the cylinder moves, etc…
It's 4.0 liters which means 0ver 100 hp per liter. From a diesel.

Audi has managed to totally ruin the interior design. They used to be slick and harmonic with wonderful lines but now they seem to go for the edgy 1983 transformer look. It's retro in a very clumsy manner. Not worthy a premium brand such as Audi. This shift towards ugliness is shocking. The only model that has kept sanity is the A4, but guess that's gonna be ruined quite soon then.
Audi really need some new front designers. They are getting uglier and uglier.
