I think the diesel V8 did work well with these larger Audi’s. The Diesels don’t work in the S4, 5, 6 and 7
Yeah, but the V8 TDI didn’t get the newest Euro 6d homolgation for the 2021 model year and it probably doesn’t pay off for Audi to invest lots of money into a niche engine for Europe

The usual brilliant and informative review of these two cars by Thomas. I think he is the very best reviewer on TH-cam....and also he is a very attractive guy ! I purchased a new 55TFSI Q8 in September 2020. It is a very fine piece of automotove engineering but I do wish now that I had gone for a new SQ8. The 340 bhp V6 engine in the 55TFSI is a fine smooth power unit but the car is very heavy and I do feel it needs just a bit more power. Add in the dreadful hesitation on pick up that seems to affect all new Audi engines. So, I am now looking to bite the bullit and purchase a new SQ8 for the new 71 plate reg in September .
excellent. love the long time spent putting them next to each other, and then from different angles too. MAYBE, down the road, we could get a driving-handling comparison between SQ8, GLE 53 AMG Coupe, and X6 M50i. Not so much acceleration - which they all have plenty of - but driving, handling, steering. Who comes closest to Porsche from this group? In what sphere? Just a suggestion - you guys are obviously busy enough. I watched Autogefuhl reviews of GLE 53 AMG coupe and of X6 M50i, and now this SQ8.

nice to have these two compared and reviewed! Is it me or does SQ7 have a bit more vertical windshield, the windshield seems a bit more upright. That would make SQ8 more of a "bunker" feel whereas SQ7 closer to a BMW X5 driver overview. Dare I say SQ7 has a more sovereign seating position for the driver? ...oh, ok. just heard you say that at 45.35

Thank you for another great review Thomas. Love them both but lean to the SQ8's external styling. That velvet purple SQ8 was sweet!
I am frustrated that Audi limits what we can get in the U.S. For some reason Audi does not include auto hold for U.S. spec cars. Also they no longer offer the rear fog lights in the U.S. (although I have them on 2010 Q5). Plus we cannot get the base sport seats, which I would prefer a separate head restraint. Come on Audi -- stop denying American customers these features!

Hi Thomas, I'm so glad you tested SQ7 with new petrol engine ! Can you share more about realistic petrol consumption assuming German autobahn (up to 200km/h) and city combination ? You mentioned 12-13l/100km but is it normal daily mix or rather trying to win smallest consumption we will reach 12-13 ? Are you sure this engine has MHEV technology ?
Thanks! Yeah has mhev. 12-13 l is realistic, if u go cruise control motorway steady speed u can also score lower like 10-11
My bet is that the difference in the slalom is the steering rack ratio is more aggressive in the SQ8
Please do more on city driving and also high speed highway (autotopnl) for all your reviews. Test tracks are boring. I don't see a difference between these two cars in terms of dimensions and looks, confused why they have two differently named models.

I believe Audi SQ7 and BMW X7 are the best compare with Mazda - CX9 and Hyundai - Palisade but the problems are not available the maintenance with spare parts same like in to many countries in Middle East 🤔
Don’t like the body colored “struts” that reach out to the grille on the front Of the Q8. Somehow looks like the grille is not integrated.
Is the optional dynamic pack with the active roll stabilisation and 4ws worth paying for?

SQ8 is a real looker and not too big for me especially going around town showing off. Now just got to add bit money to my £3000 savings 😒

Finally they get rid off from slow diesel engines !! Good to know Audi accepting they’re mistakes, wish they continue S4-S5-S6-S7 with petro engines

4.0Tdi (435KM) diesel with 4.8s is slow ? Good sense of humor :-)! What about fuel consumption when speeding 180-200km/h - diesel 12-13 liters / benzin 20-22 liters ? Whre are eco-terrorists? :-)
@@user-sq7mw9jw1s Yeah I'd just have to settle for the diesels myself. Call me old fashioned but I still like to save even small amounts of fuel costs.
The SQ7 just has a more classical look to it. I'm not such a fanboy of the black plastic appearances.

Whoever is buying, buy SQ7 and with the money saved, you can buy better optional extras. It even looks better than SQ8

Simply based on my view of the exterior appearances, I prefer the looks of the SQ7 over the SQ8. Possibly the color definition/design of the SQ7 appeals to me more?

Shame nobody asked for those S models to become TFSI again. It’s all due to regulations... I’d prefer them as TDIs because the V8 sounded pretty cool and you saved some fuel. Of course I won’t complain about it but the overall thirst of the petrol car is a big point in daily driving. I hope the S4-7 will become petrol sooner than later. The SQ can remain diesel if you ask me

Thomas, I don't get why you talk about sustainability in such cars, I mean the engine pollutes 269-288 g/km of carbon dioxide, so, what makes you think a customer of one of these cars will care about sustainability?

Let's be honest design is far behind BMW, looks little bit outdated in comparison to BMW. But still great premium cars, I like interior.
What looks "outdated" about them?
From design POV Ialos slightly prefer BMW, but in comfort, functionality Audi eats BWM like a desert :-)
X7 is more luxurious inside, better features and quality , but BMW is outdated interior now
