  • This is a demo of our all-in-one, easy-to-use Luxury Leather Repair Automotive Leather Dye.
    We carry more than 1,300 dyes for more than 40 manufacturers.
    Luxury Leather Repair All-in-One Automotive Leather Dye is made to recolor your automotive leather, vinyl and plastic. The All-In-One automotive leather dye means the base coat for adhesion and the top coat for sealing are mixed with the color into one formulation. Our leather dye is professional grade made from the same pigments and base that are used by major leather tanning factories all around the world.
    Do not forget to order cleaning & maintenance products. We recommend our DyeNamic Clean which is an all purpose cleaner for leather, vinyl, plastic & rubber. For continue maintenance, we recommend Leather Master Vital Conditioner & Protection Cream. Leather Master is well known for their water-based products. It will keep your leather soft and supple for years to come.
    Tip for Selecting Color: If you are unsure of your vehicles interior color, call your local dealer parts department and provide your VIN#. They can give you the exact color name. Our colors are matched to the OEM color name.
    Do not use on unprotected Aniline, Nubuck or Suede. It will add a protective top coat and change the feel.

    I have a 2011 Mercedes E350. Black MB TEX not full leather. I have to remove the seat cover to Remove/Replace the heated seat pads. Since I will have the seat covers off anyway and a eight year old vehicle that was pretty much all SOCAL and Texas I figure good as time as any to freshen up the covers with a fresh dye. Will the process be easier with the covers removed or still installed? I was thinking of removing the seat covers and re dying while removed.

    • @autoleatherdye
      @autoleatherdye  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Stephen,
      I would recommend applying the dye over the leather with the covers on the seats. This will allow for full even coverage with the leather expanded as it will be when in use.

    What kind of prep would I need to do if the car is brand new (less than 500 miles on it)? I'm looking to change my black seats to a mahogany color, and I'm wondering if their brand new condition is better or worse for adhesion. Like, is there a sealant of some sort that would make this a horrible idea?

    • @autoleatherdye
      @autoleatherdye  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Rachel, Great question and yes a prep would definitely be necessary, even with new leather. A lot of times there is a protective top coat that must be broken down to allow for proper dye adhesion. Please reach out to us by email @ sales@autoleatherydye.com and we can certainly get you with the proper set up along with getting you the color you're looking for.

    • @eastcoastbreakers
      @eastcoastbreakers ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not a required product as there is a top coat for sealing in the dye formulation. However it does add quite a bit of durability to the finished product.

  • @yuzeyang8847

    Hello sir, I notice you have a product called adhesion promoter, what is that for? Is it a top coat/sealant? And how to use it? I am thinking apply that before and after the dyeing procedure.

    • @autoleatherdye
      @autoleatherdye  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hello Yuze,
      Leather Adhesion Promoter would be used after the prep and before the dye. It will take the adhesion of your recolor over the top!! Just apply it with a soft bristle paint brush and allow to dry before applying the dye. Very easy to use product and the results are amazing when used.

      Fully removing the existing coating is not necessary. The gray scuff pad that comes with our kits mimics 1000 grit sandpaper so I would definitely recommend a good sanding just to open the pores a little. The new coating will be an opaque color once you have it "fully covered".

    Maybe its just me, but it looks as if it changes the color to a degree. Near the back of the seat I can see a good bit of contrast. It could be the camera angle or how the light is hitting it. Could be just another worn spot. Still, If I am doing just a patch and not the whole seat, wouldn't it be necessary to have the exact color? I ask because there are some systems out there that you have to mix the dye yourself, using an airbrush gun, and the color is determined by a sample of the existing material using a spectrophotometer. Which is the better system? Obviously this one is a bit more user friendly and great for an enthusiast. But would there be a decrease in quality in regards to color, plasticity, and general texture? I know you will support your business, but I would like an honest and professional reply if you see this.

    • @autoleatherdye
      @autoleatherdye  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks so much for the comment and the questions! In terms of a project being more simple, the closer the color, the better the blend. When you get into aged leathers, there is natural fade that starts to happen. When folks use oil based cleaners/conditioners, like what's easily accessible at our local automotive and big box stores, it will also start to develop a different patina on the leathers surface, therefor creating slight color variations away from the original color. Our "Standard" Automotive Formulas are mixed to match sample that come directly from Manufacturers and their interior availability options for each year and model. Even in that scenario, you can still have color variations.
      So I would answer yes to having a color as close as possible to achieve a desirable result at completion of the job.
      In terms of the system, whether mixed on hand or purchasing a pre matched dye, they are the same if they are mixed properly. Leather Dye consists of a Clear Base Product [ours includes the top coat as well, there's my sell for my product :)] and a color pigmentation system that when mixed properly is done so in a percentage Base/Pigment ratio. If you have to little pigment, you don't get the coverage. If you have too little base, the durability and feel with be affected. So its all about having a dye that mixed to the right ratio, with the right pigment colors and having a matching color. For the DIY restoration person, having the full 13 color pigment line, the low gloss base, the high gloss base, scales, empty bottles and a couple other things to have a full workable "Dye Creation" station, its much more cost effective to just order pre matched colors or submit a sample to have a custom color created matched to your sample, including sheen matching as well.
      If you're making many many dye colors, having the system on hand can save some overall money once the initial cost has been spent to get everything you need. All of this is before having the color knowledge to mix the colors from scratch as well.
      So to end, its really hand in hand as long as the dye doesn't get affected from a mismatched % ratio.
      I hope I answered your questions and if you would like to reach out to me, we can certainly pick this up and see if there is something I can do to further help you out. My email is sales@autoleatherdye.com
      Thanks again!!!

      It should hold up just fine. We sell a ton of dye into CA and have never had a complaint about it breaking down from the sun. • @autoleatherdye
      @autoleatherdye  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a ton for the input but unfortunately what you’re referring to is not a treatment for Automotive leather. Alcohol based dyes absorb and they can’t absorb through a coating that won’t let liquids absorb like an automotive leather dye. Plus a wool pad would scuff the finished surface extremely bad. Those techniques work wonderful for equestrian leathers but not so much on automotive.

    Absolutely misreading! This is not a leather DYE,it is paint.I bought a gallon from these guys in July 2017.The "dye" did not soak in the leather as it is supposed to soak,rather it sat on the top of the seats and started peeling off and fracking after a couple of months. I am redoing those seats all over again.

    • @autoleatherdye
      @autoleatherdye  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Steve and Thank you for the reply. But as mentioned in the video this is a “protected leather dye” and the exact same used by many major auto manufacturers all over the world in their cars before being sold new.
      A protected leather is dyed with a coating that “protects” the pores of the leather. It does act and cover just as paint would on a wall, sealing the surface. This can easily be identified by dropping a little water on a non worn area of your leather if it beads up then you need protected leather dye to “restore” the same coating.
      Peeling and cracking can happen but it’s a cause of only a few things and this biggest being the preparation of the leather before recoloring. Body oils and residue from left over cleaners can certainly cause the sue to peel. Also cracking would want to be filled in before allying the coating over the surface. The dye is water based and not designed to fill in cracks. However we do have a filler for that. I am sorry that you had suck a problem almost 4 years ago but if you would like to reach out we would be more than happy to assist you in getting you what you need to make sure it holds us this time.
      Thanks again for taking the time to watch and comment!!
