Why don’t you pronounce the vowel U in OU ?
We should pronounce it , shouldn’t we?

There are two accepted pronunciations of the diphthong OU. Ô (like the English 'oh') is the typical variation used in central and southern Portugal, while the actual OU sound is common in northern Portugal. Both are well in use and equally correct :) - Joseph
