    Apparently, Tirana looks like a nice city but the city is busy. It is my dream to visit Albania and enjoy its scenic areas.🙃

      Tirana city centre is very busy and noisy. There is lots of noise from car horns and scooter exhausts. It has lots of action, it is a great place to people watch.. but the more scenic areas are great. A must visit is up to Theth and Valbona.

    Be interesting if you can find a place with great proximity to all that downtown vibe but quieter and maybe a decent size outdoor space too

      There are villas in the hills, not sure what the costs would be like to rent. You would need to have a residency card for that as you would need a vehicle and to buy one you need that. By vehicle I mean a scooter probably. Just our thoughts.

    The street you are living in this video, it's a street that have so many shops and is a bussy street, i recomand a more remote one for quiet living. As an Albanian even i could not live in that area of Tirana. Thank you for the good content and nice words toword Albania. Sorry my English

    Hi, Jay and Sarah. Thank you for the video ! Would you prefer living long term ( several years or more ) in Tirana over Saranda, or neither ?

    • @JayandSarah
      @JayandSarah  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Terry, this is a hard question to answer. Sarah says she would select Tirana, feeling that Saranda would just become too small. There is much more to do in Tirana to integrate yourself through the year. It is a bustling place. I personally prefer being by the sea. Saranda would be tough all year long, the influx of tourists just is chaos. I like it when it's quiet. It's a strange town, it is not really a tourist resort destination in my mind.. it can only attract lots of people 3 months a year, it is quite odd. Hope that helps. I think there are probably better places to stay long term, however everyone's access to be able to stay long term (retirement visa or whatnot varies). If you are not a good cook, you will quickly get tired of living in Saranda, the restaurant selection is terrible. It's the same stuff over and over. There are a few good places, but if you want different types of cuisine other than traditional / Mediterranean, you are really on your own to make it.

    Great video, I'm glad you guys are enjoying Tirana, there are definitely quieter places as someone else already mentioned in the comments but I'd have to say that even within the city there's options that are not expensive and not as overwhelming with noise etc. You should visit Pristina (Kosovo's capital) for a day, it's cheap, not as developed as Tirana but nice to visit for a few days, but you'll most definitely find it less interesting than Tirana if you're okay with that :)

      Thanks for the feedback and yes we are going to visit Kosovo as well... we'll probably live there for a few months to enjoy what it has to offer!

    Any feedback on healthcare there? Thx!

    • @JayandSarah
      @JayandSarah  ปีที่แล้ว

      We haven't any experience with it so can't really say. I do know that if you get a residence based on opening a business, you will pay into their system and be eligible for their social healthcare. What the system is like, we don' t know. Great question though.
      We did have some experience with dental that was very good. A broken front tooth missing half was fixed with no appointment, in maybe an hour, and was very affordable. I think lots of people come from other countries for dental work.
      We are heading back beginning of March for 3 months stay so will have a better idea when we have more time to immerse ourselves. So looking forward to it!
