I am an Albanian living in Michigan since 1997 I’m going there tomorrow n September can’t wait for the food I missed so much. Thank you for promoting my country and welcome to Albania
Albanians are 70% muslim which i was surprised about..Most Albanians live abroad nowadays especially in london opening restaurants with Greek names which are not Greek..
Dude Albania is not a fanatic Muslim country we really don’t care about religions we all live in harmony and marry with each other. It is the most tolerant country in the world when it comes to religion. If you ask someone what is your religion the answer would be Albanian
albanians cook at home so they usually won't go out to eat what they can make, with that said albanians aren't by any means super cooks, the supermarket is filled with frozen chopped veggies, marinated meats, powders and canned sauces. Which sell very well.
in albania we dont have a strict authentic version. a light, a junk, a cheap, an expensive vesion of the same dish can all be traditional and accepted. i always take my visitors to a ''worker's restaurant'' which would be the best value, those establishment mostly serve nearby workers they focus on volume, but that doesnt mean its low quality, in order to keep prices low they skip meat (just broth) and add less olive oil, they add more filler like rice or bread. The mentality is local food for local people, its the less tasty more bare bones albanian food, its not quite fast food because they will not use lesser quality ingredients they rather screw you on portions, and its not quite cafeteria food because the execution is usually perfect, its a pretty serious kitchen they only hire +3 years of cooking experience but you won't find any super chefs in there, the staff is usually in their late 20s or part time housewives is their 50s. The menu is usually 2 salads, 5 mains, 1 dessert and that's it. They drill the same dishes every day to perfection. They usually have multiple fridges full of drinks and you take them by yourself, they rarely give you a glass, the drinks are expensive though, so everyone goes for the water bottle which they are usually out, thats how they get you.
Gawd u are making me hungry for some if these burkes. Well I have a shop under my app, I just hope they brought out the midday stuf. They are better when they are right of the oven.
I didn't like the thing that you always compare things with Turkey. And yes, we didn't wait ottoman empire to learn us how to eat. In fact many "Turkish" dishes are arabic and were existed here before the Turks And finally Albania isn't a Muslim country, is a little bit of everything
The most is Greek food ---they either dont have restaurants with Albanian national food (its all Italian and korca ) --either Sulvaki is a copy from Greece ----but as the most is muslims how they eat pork?? (sulvaki=pork)
90 percent of Albanians eat pork, and do not want to know about religion at all. And for restaurants we have thousands who do traditional cooking. Let me give you an example:m.th-cam.com/video/UFuqkWYu6t0/w-d-xo.html
Souvlaki doesnt mean only pork . Yes we eat pork and yes we have our cuisine . And the truth is that souvlak is turkish language and the way it is looks very asiatic so that means that you greeks are so asiatic
@@Komdwy you are still using the turkish name souvlak . By the way that type of eating is asiatic , look all muslim populations how they use it from turkey to pakistan and india so dont tell me bullshits with alexandre
What are you blabbering „similar to souvlaki“ 😂😂 this is just souvlaki filled with chicken. It’s sayin like German Döner with chicken is just „similar to Döner“ 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ He just took the foreign dish and altered its name that’s all
There is no Albanian souvlaki, this is just Greek food which got popular to Albanians since many migrants moved to Greece in the 90s. Souvlaki is as Greek as pizza is Italian.

Just to let you know. The ottomans found the food in the ballkans , they did not bring it!
Wonder why they say rakija because we Albanians simply say raki. For example: Do te pi raki. I will drink raki, not rakija.
Souvlaki is Greek
Ne fakt fjala souvlak eshte turke . Mos bej si profesor 😄.
Everything looks good but you lost me at buttermilk.
