She isn't pure evil, but she contains it in her multitudes. Death, that is, not evil. But she also contains change and transformation itself. By joining her in godhood you'd be helping her to continue the natural cycle of things. Also the leave option is much better if you keep avoiding the cabin on the first go. It's rewarding
Yeah, I think none of these characters are "Evil". All were just trying to understand, and maybe matter, in their existence. The narrator never lied to you like some voices (in game and in our heads) insisted. He simplified the truth, avoided information, but he was always sincere in his goal. I'm not even sure how many facets of the princess were actually "deceitful". And whether the Hero lies is up to the player, so...yeah, everyone was trustworthy in this love story. Each of them was sincere, dangerous, and incomplete. We each are the ones that should be questioned on our motives.

Im sure someone else has mentioned this, but there is a path there to gain back the 'witches' trust. Was hoping you'd see it but I recommend checking it out, its very sweet. Glad you liked the game, i finished it months ago and I still love to think about all the symbolism and philosophy in it!

I was hoping you'd explore some options more, especially during the ending, but I still really appreciate your playthrough. Your ending showed some elements I hadn't seen from any other playthrough I watched 🙏🏾💕
Genuinely not sure what it says about me but the nightmare princess is my favorite iteration of the princess. Her in that mask, I don't know, there's just something so... about her hahaha

Oh, this is exciting! I love this game and I can't wait to see how Kasta responds to it! I'm also glad they posted that warning at the beginning, since Kasta is prone to thinking she made bad choices as opposed to just HER choices. This game will definitely teach her out of that and recognize that there is no right or wrong. Just what you want, and what you get in return.
Another cozy Friday game (with a not so cozy game) to watch! Only a few minutes in and this game is immediately reminding me of The Stanley Parable, another great game Hope you’re enjoying yourself, Kasta!
You got some amazing princesses for your first playthrough. You were so close to a true answer as well Not the love letter between life and death. But the love letter between change and constant.
My route was: (Spoiler) Stranger > Damsel > Prisoner > Witch/Thorn > Tower. Ending: Apotheosis Together I took every opportunity to free her or at least not kill. First by saying nope to the whole aitch and leaving. Then by going straight to freeing her. Then taking the knife to free her and inspecting the chains, then i was forced to slay her but gave her the knife in trust. Then was forced to try and fail to slay her and immidiately gave up.
Hi! I found this channel because I love Slay the Princess. In part because it is an experience and watching others play it is really interesting. I absolutely love The Shifting Mound and agree with her perspective. Like you said the game is somewhat of a love letter between life and death. Although they do contain life and death in their multitudes they are not life and death. They are existence and transformation. A truly deathless world devoid of any meaningful change would be hell. It's not too far removed from Dark Souls. Except worse. The narrator's universe is dying and he wants to stop that. I can empathize however such stagnation means that the universe will not be reborn. Trillions would be denied life so that less can stagnate in a half life. I hope you choose to play again. Even if you dont record it. Its just that good. Especially on a second playthrough. You also missed the best romance routes. There are still so many choices and stories you can make. At some point I know they are going to release a dlc. I watched a stream of the game with the devs that had the voice actors live. It was amazing. You get to learn quite a bit about them. Nicole Goodnight has a very meaningful story about her relation to voice acting. She's an absolutely lovely person. I've seen streams where she has popped in to say hello and give the streamer support. If you ever do replay consider playing it as a love letter from life to death. Consider what textures you want to carve into her heart.
(i wrote some explainations down belowe) If you get the good ending as your first, then the game just ends, credits roll. Aslo damn, you missed such a good scene with the specter by trying to slay. And with the witch😼, you can have my favorite route🌹 if you take the blade down, and then give her. Also cal her pretty. 3:44:40 somewhat. The entire game is based on taoism, where every interpretation is correct. And the game can be analised on the layer of two lovers trying to understand each other. The witch is about betrayal, damsel about blind love, specter about loneliness and either forgiveness you you hep her or resentment if you try to slay her. If the narrator just told you she becomes anything you believe her to be. then a thought "i wonder if she is the end of the world right NOW" and then the world would end right now. He was very careful about the things he says to you to prevent you from manifesting her into something you cant beat. There is actually a path where you think "the princess cant die" and then youre stuck in a battle forever until the hand take her. And she litteraly is transformation and change. Like if *reality* was a cake, and th echo cut it in half, and one half was change. Thats her, and you are the other half of the cake of reality. Thats also why it seems youre both ancient in your togetherness and newborn deities. Before the echo cut reality in half, you were both together, as reality. The momment he cut reality in half he created two sentient deities, thats the momments you both gain a mind. You both carry a memmory of togetherness of before you were both cut apart and why you have a force pulling you together. Like two halves of a cake remembring youre supposed to be one. At the end youre two gods arguing about existance. She wants unchangingness of change, as in change, always and forever. And her belief in change is the only thing that doesnt change about her. Basically if you let her win it goes back to the way it was before you were split into two, but with both of you existing side by side and concious. So a world is born, a world dies. Over and over the universe collapses and a new one is born. She argues that this is the only way to have meaning. the echo believed in stopping that cycle and preserving the current universe. 4:54:40 talking to woman be like
Hey Kasta. I first found you through your Outer Wilds playthrough. I've watched a few other sporadic ones since, but I've loved all the stuff I've seen from you. This was a great playthrough.I know it''s been a few months, but I'd absolutely love if you played through it some more. There is SOO much more you haven't seen, especially now that they've done the big new "Pristine Cut' update. Adds 3 whole new princesses, and fleshes out several other ones. A couple of the new ones became my favorites, too. It also adds a gallery so you can keep track of all the different Princesses you've seen. Unfortunately the gallery doesn't keep track of what you've seen before the update.
Hey Kasta, "The Wolf Among Us" is a phenomenal choices matter fairy tale meets real world game. It has a sequel coming soon, and I think you'd love the story and art style. Thanks for your wonderful playthroughs and over-thinking!
I've watched several plays through of this game, and I've never heard a theory like the one around 4:10:00 with the narrator's purpose being to narrate, so he has to avoid an ending to keep existing. Could make for an interesting game in and of itself. Super interesting and meta thought, that is still adjacent to what the game was going for
2:37:37 you can only get to the credits if you do it without doing anything else best way to get the ending ending start new game then do the exact same just kill her then you will just need to stay in the cabin then the credits will roll hope you see it this message anyways
I have never heard of this game but any game that you play I'll be watching and I like the title Slay the Princess it sounds really great, have a beautiful weekend Kasta and Miss Ginger. 🐾🐈🐾
I think in this playthrough what's out there is a world. One they may have created out of their godly leftovers. A world like what narrator described with a perfect balance of life and death. One they may be able to effect slightly but can't control. The probably had to learn to be mortals. I hope once they got the hang of life they lived happily ever after.
I loooved both the game & its playthrough by Maggie, and I’d like to list my favorite moments of the latter: 22:35 “She is just as stubborn as me! Damn it!” (Maggie trying to outfox the princess) 58:29 “I don’t need to talk to the voices in my head, I just need to do this!” (as sb with psychosis would probably say) 1:51:22 “So what do you want me to do? You want me to gnaw off your arm?” (And the princess proceeds to do exactly that… Maggie with 20/20 foresight in this phase!!!) 3:26:59 “Enter the basement with it [blade] in our back! Although somehow I feel like it’s gonna end up inside of us…” (Thank god it didn’t! At least not in this phase.) 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Man I am so interested to see someone who got 'the broken' on their very first attempt This game is going to be freaking *weird* for you lol in most other games that would make me feel like you got a less authentic experience, or like, at least a slightly less-than-optimal experience. like you're playing the main quest out of order or something but this game... this game is different, isn't it? i can't wait to watch the rest edit: oh my god of course you went straight from the broken to the smitten, this playthrough is amazing

Run 1: "...Should've just slayed her" Run 2: "I'm gonna stick to my guns. ........ (doesn't) ....... Should've just slayed her." The Game: "Let me show you just how unimaginably bad that decision was..." *fast forwards through an infinite number of possibilities of you not sticking to your guns where you end up a broken, tormented, fractured soul in a world that no longer represents reality and you have an unknown number of conflicting personalities arguing in your traumatized head.* Me: I was so disappointed when you didn't kill her the second go, but the game's deciding punishment was honestly mind-blowing.
Got a major kick out of this game for like an afternoon. Also the good ending only counts and ends the game if it is your first choice and you never meet the entity.
If you wanna play another one episode game I'd recommend Unheard. It's mysterious because you're solving cases but there's not a lot of visuals, you're mostly going on audio clues. And seeing the ways different people have approached the game is interesting.
Lol so many people with terminal indecisiveness getting that ending first XD I feel like the devs made it so bad to punish those who couldn't simply commit to a path.

Ah good, you moved the cam later, thank you! On to "The Manipulation Game"! That one will be so difficult for you. Lets see which princess slays which. :D Btw, the preferences are the standard for Virtual Novels. It comes from the tool they all use to make them, Ren'Py. I would suggest Doki Doki Literature Club (Plus) if you never played that. Another short one I recently played is The Thief, the Witch, the Toad and the Mushroom. Should be right up your alley and its free! Edit after the end: So, there are multiple endings, which I am sure you looked up by now. Imho you got the best and only "real" ending or at least the ending that fits you the most, as far as I can tell. There are lots of ways to interpret them all, but for me this ending says what I personally believe. If you find that person that makes you whole, you can step outside into the world, not knowing what will be, but you will be fine. You will face everything together, hand in hand. Btw, you mentioned playing this a long time ago, how many games do you have prerecorded?? I will mention Signalis and SOMA once more, other games that wont leave you for a while after playing them. Edit 2: I just remembered something. The track list at the end, these are the chapters you got to see. There are 54 songs in total, not sure if every one of them is a chapter, but you can guess there are a lot of different paths you didnt see.
@@Kastaclysm I should probably stop suggesting other games then, you might have them all recorded already. :D Hope Twitchcon and Europe are/were treating you well!

That and he didn't really go for the explore options. He did end up getting the Spectre though which I've never seen people do on their first run so that was cool.
As I understand it the backstory is as follows: A super-scientist in a dying universe divided Death into Change (the Princess) and Stillness (the PlayerCharacter), then shunted them off in a pocket multiverse and created a Narrator for each universe within to direct the PC to neutralize the Princess. A major plothole with this concept is that the PC as well as all his voices except maybe for Cold are way too human and do not fit a personified Stillness in any way. It would be either catatonic itself or mindlessly trying to stop everything that is not still. Another plothole is that while Change is removed from the Narrators' original universe, so is Stillness. Sooo... that should result in Existence ceasing, since things can neither stay nor change.
Another great video Maggie and you’re really churning them out lately😎. This game is different to anything I’ve ever seen before, but in a good way because it seems to me every choice you can ever make are largely the same, even if they’re quite different, the ending(s) may well converge in roughly the same the manner as yours did....although I could be wrong😂. By killing her, you'd be freeing the world of death, as the narrator intended, but also dooming it to eternal stagnation.
Good job posting the whole game before Markiplier.
That's really funny timing actually lol
LOL By the way Markiplier just play the game LOL
@@Mooseclops-Kenjamin yes we know. Kasta uploaded this playthrough exactly 3 hours before Mark uploaded his part 1, this comment was made right after Mark uploaded part 1
@@SwagSwagSenate yeah I know and I just wanted to point that out you know that he did play the game the first comment was 2 weeks ago I know
@@SwagSwagSenate but thanks for telling me though hope you have a great rest of your day
Intense sadness when she didn't give the Witch the blade.
If you like games where there is a sassy narrator i would recommend the stanley parable
yesss
Ugh, my only gripe throughout the whole five hours was not addressing the vessel's statements directly! That was like the most interesting part of the ending to me, but to each their own haha.
Im sure someone else has mentioned this, but there is a path there to gain back the 'witches' trust. Was hoping you'd see it but I recommend checking it out, its very sweet. Glad you liked the game, i finished it months ago and I still love to think about all the symbolism and philosophy in it!
I love this game sm, I'm so glad you played it
The Unknown together is my favorite ending!!
It's even better with the Stranger. 😊
I know what's happening, and it's still exceedingly beautiful, so I do understand what beauty you find in the unknown, the cusp of light licking at the edge of shadow, the moment before the dawn of clarity.
That is good.
This game is so beautiful and I love seeing more people experiencing it.
amazing playthrough! it was very fun following you through this game. loved your thought process. thanks for posting!
Very enjoyable playthrough! I've been watching LPs of Slay the Princess and it's always a nice surprise to see a few choices I hadn't seen before. I also like that you were thoughtful about the game without getting completely stuck on making a choice.
0:24 One does not simply overthink Slay the Princess
the game is so good, so glad you played it!! totally about to watch this whole video today lol ❤
You have a very eloquent voice. Your playthrough was very fun to watch as well, thanks for sharing it.
Oh man, my mother and I can listen to her all day. She sounds SO romantic and jubilant! 😀
Her voice makes me mad
Mannnn I am happy you played this game. This game is amazing!
If you liked playing Slay the Princess, I'd recommend Stanley! The games are similar in a way. In both, there's a narrator and multiple choices/endings you can make. Awesome video, keep it up! :) ❤
Just what you want, and what you get in return.
can't believe you got my favorite princess first!!! this is my first time watching your channel and i love your commentary
Another cozy Friday game (with a not so cozy game) to watch! Only a few minutes in and this game is immediately reminding me of The Stanley Parable, another great game
Hope you’re enjoying yourself, Kasta!
You got some amazing princesses for your first playthrough.
You were so close to a true answer as well
Not the love letter between life and death. But the love letter between change and constant.
My route was: (Spoiler)
Stranger > Damsel > Prisoner > Witch/Thorn > Tower.
Ending: Apotheosis Together
I took every opportunity to free her or at least not kill.
I'm so happy you ended up in The Wild route. It's one of my favourites and I was quite excited to see your reaction!
Your long videos are astounding Maggie! Keep it up!
(i wrote some explainations down belowe)
If you get the good ending as your first, then the game just ends, credits roll.

This game looks good and I love the black and white. Just wishlisted and will try the demo. Nice one, Maggie! ♥
3:28:48 - Feeling called out? Yep! Me too!
This game seriously hurt my feelings.
Hey Kasta, "The Wolf Among Us" is a phenomenal choices matter fairy tale meets real world game. It has a sequel coming soon, and I think you'd love the story and art style. Thanks for your wonderful playthroughs and over-thinking!
36:35
This is EXACTLY the reaction I was hoping for! 😆
I've watched several plays through of this game, and I've never heard a theory like the one around 4:10:00 with the narrator's purpose being to narrate, so he has to avoid an ending to keep existing. Could make for an interesting game in and of itself.
Super interesting and meta thought, that is still adjacent to what the game was going for
hey! first time here, I've already done this game and it was very pleasant seeing someone else do it. thanks for your video
3:33:26 *Pocket Sand!!*
😲
2:37:37 you can only get to the credits if you do it without doing anything else best way to get the ending ending start new game then do the exact same just kill her then you will just need to stay in the cabin then the credits will roll hope you see it this message anyways
Another amazing video Kastaclysm ❤❤😁😁.
Thank you for this, I enjoyed it so much... If you ever want to do another playthrough, I would be very ok with that 💜
Kasta been killing it with the uploads lately wow
I can’t believe you got the moment of clarity for your first run
Kinda sad you never got The Thorn route, one of my favourites if you do the right options!
true, but at least she got the witch fight, one of my favorite scenes, followed by one of my favorite chapters
Now I'm wondering if you'd like Doki Doki Literature club. That game stays with you for a bit.
I truly enjoyed watching your videos they're absolutely amazing 😊🎉 You're awesome Kastaclysm 💖💯✨
I have never heard of this game but any game that you play
I'll be watching and I like the title Slay the Princess it sounds
really great, have a beautiful weekend Kasta and Miss Ginger.
“Kasta on the bottom left of the screen isn’t real. She can’t hurt you.”
I loooved both the game & its playthrough by Maggie, and I’d like to list my favorite moments of the latter:
22:35 “She is just as stubborn as me! Damn it!” (Maggie trying to outfox the princess)
58:29 “I don’t need to talk to the voices in my head, I just need to do this!” (as sb with psychosis would probably say)
1:51:22 “So what do you want me to do? You want me to gnaw off your arm?” (And the princess proceeds to do exactly that… Maggie with 20/20 foresight in this phase!!!)
3:26:59 “Enter the basement with it [blade] in our back! Although somehow I feel like it’s gonna end up inside of us…” (Thank god it didn’t! At least not in this phase.)
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Well now I HAVE to recommend the choice-based adventure "As Dusk Falls"
Haha, I've seen it mentioned before! Thanks for the suggestion 😁
slay, queen! i mean princess
Man
I am so interested to see someone who got 'the broken' on their very first attempt
This game is going to be freaking *weird* for you lol
in most other games that would make me feel like you got a less authentic experience, or like, at least a slightly less-than-optimal experience. like you're playing the main quest out of order or something
but this game... this game is different, isn't it?
i can't wait to watch the rest
edit: oh my god of course you went straight from the broken to the smitten, this playthrough is amazing
Brain chemistry shifted
the razor
"i can fix her"
I really enjoy your videos I was watching your spider man playthrough and a few other playthroughs of yours and they are really awesome 😎🤘 keep up the amazing work 👍 and hope you have a blessed and wonderful day ☺️🙏❤️
Run 1: "...Should've just slayed her"
Run 2: "I'm gonna stick to my guns. ........ (doesn't) ....... Should've just slayed her."
The Game: "Let me show you just how unimaginably bad that decision was..."
*fast forwards through an infinite number of possibilities of you not sticking to your guns where you end up a broken, tormented, fractured soul in a world that no longer represents reality and you have an unknown number of conflicting personalities arguing in your traumatized head.*
Me: I was so disappointed when you didn't kill her the second go, but the game's deciding punishment was honestly mind-blowing.
Got a major kick out of this game for like an afternoon. Also the good ending only counts and ends the game if it is your first choice and you never meet the entity.
If you want to play more it would be great to see your reaction to the rest of the game
Lol, you got my same first princess.
You should try other routes there's a lot you can see.
markiplier literally just uploaded part one for this and i just found out you did too
She uploaded hers 3 hours before mark which is funny
If you wanna play another one episode game I'd recommend Unheard. It's mysterious because you're solving cases but there's not a lot of visuals, you're mostly going on audio clues. And seeing the ways different people have approached the game is interesting.
I'll see about maybe adding Unheard to my list!
Dude , you won't survive the info hazard. 😅
Lol so many people with terminal indecisiveness getting that ending first XD I feel like the devs made it so bad to punish those who couldn't simply commit to a path.
You should take a look into Stray Gods ❤another instant classic with Troy Baker and Laura Bailey (among others)
Yes!!! I strongly second this motion
😮
Keep up the great and funny videos!
I think seeing their other game (Scarlet Hollow) would be fun! =]
Thank you for the suggestion! I'll make a note to maybe take a look at it
You know what ending you wanted to end on? Could you try getting that one again?
This is a great game will you ever be coming back to it
If I come back to it, it'll likely be a very long time from when I've forgotten some of the story 😁
@@Kastaclysm alrighty then also if you do come back could it be a live stream so I may help you get some other princesses if you would like also I hope you have a great rest of your day
My burger is on it's way. I was just waiting for today's game. 🥰🥰
51:11
And that's why he's here now 😉
A very intriguing game. There is a game you might like called The Room. There's been several sequels. Not a narrator game but a great puzzle game that I think you might find exciting.
I'll see about adding it to my list to maybe check out eventually!!
noooooo she missed the thorns route, I'm incredibly saddened
Tbf it's quite a hard route to find. I rather see it as an easter egg route due to how specific it is to get there
Ehh I like the Wild better
Ah good, you moved the cam later, thank you! On to "The Manipulation Game"! That one will be so difficult for you. Lets see which princess slays which. :D
Btw, the preferences are the standard for Virtual Novels. It comes from the tool they all use to make them, Ren'Py. I would suggest Doki Doki Literature Club (Plus) if you never played that. Another short one I recently played is The Thief, the Witch, the Toad and the Mushroom. Should be right up your alley and its free!
Edit after the end:
So, there are multiple endings, which I am sure you looked up by now.
Edit 2:
I just remembered something. The track list at the end, these are the chapters you got to see. There are 54 songs in total, not sure if every one of them is a chapter, but you can guess there are a lot of different paths you didnt see.
How many games do I have prerecorded? A loooooooot 😆
@@Kastaclysm I should probably stop suggesting other games then, you might have them all recorded already. :D
Hope Twitchcon and Europe are/were treating you well!
I am a little disappointed she did not choose one simple last option to lead her to the Stranger vessel
New viewer here. I'm glad that you didn't slay her. I wanted a different approach to this, after watching Markiplier play. Obviously he slayed the princess first
Oh, and new subscriber here. I'm trying to find more females to watch
That and he didn't really go for the explore options. He did end up getting the Spectre though which I've never seen people do on their first run so that was cool.
5:16:00 that is not universal. Reality isn't fair and balanced.
The humour, the writing and story of this game is top notch and I can’t believe Gab Smoulders is involved in this game, been following her for a while too👍. Have a great trip in the UK and take care.
No, this isn't like other choice based games. There are actually very differing paths. There are 30 sub endings and 8 main endings. And the devs are adding in 12 new sub endings. There is 12 hours worth of unique content, with more on the way
Don't you worry, for once the game us going to over think you too 😂.
Kasta 🔥👀
🔥
reminds me of Stanley Parable to some extent
3:12:06 tmop
Have you played Omori? You should play it, if you haven't
Hold on...your name is MAGGIE ?????

Smart? Playing the doe would be smart too, no?
