    You might have figured it out by now but JOBO is from Gummersbach close to Cologne which would make it West-Germany.

    I miss using a Jobo ... I got to put a CPE3 to heavy use in college, and it was wonderful. I especially enjoy loading the reels vs. just about anything else. Good video!

    I recently bought a CPE2 and did some 120
    Great but I did have some slightly un even development. I don't have a the lift . It's early days but I wonder if I need to try hand agitation instantly before the drum goes onto the magnet?

      Why not? If you love film and will process on a regular basis this makes perfectly sense! I have a CPP2 and I would not want to miss it. Awesome machines!

    Thanks Nico! Can you explain us how the development chages from standart tanks to rotary ones? I just purchase a béseler motor and i dont know how much time does it changes the process. Any diference betwen the negatives obtained?

    Nice Nico! I've been waiting for you to get around to doing your Jobo series. For suggestions, I think showing the water procedure for both the tempered water option (using the rear inlet), filling a Jobo without or if you don't have tempered water (i.e. without the rear inlet), how to fill the basin / tub, using the rear flow mechanism function - how / where to fill that up too and last proper drainage of water / cleaning. I think you may have answered some of these in the past but, a new consolidated video with time-stamping for each specific query answered, might be instrumental to steer folks with questions to that type of vid 👍🏽

    Hi I am shooting 4x5 film sheet. Can you give me some advice in choosing the right JOBO machine ? Many thanks David

    • @NicosPhotographyShow
      @NicosPhotographyShow  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For 4x5 all you need is the 2520 tank and 2509n reel. This combo will work on all processors like CPE-2, CPE-3, CPP-2 CPP-3 and ATL. If you can get it with a lift to make it all easier.

    Nice and informative video. I went ahead and got the CPP3 processor after review of your video. I have 2 questions. 1 - The processor and lift came with a syringe of grease. Where do I apply this grease on the device? 2 - The CPP3 has a leveler on the right side of trough. The level has engravings “1 and 2’. How do you suggest I set these leveler numbers? Thank you.

    It gets very Interresting when you enter the very vintage CPA 4100 line. They have different designs, different knobs and even different circuit boards and one came even in white. BUT, if they run, they run and if not, you need to remove 6 screws and see the inside. usually only a connector came loose, or an elko is gone (replaceable). they are simply made and a user with a bit knowledge of electronics can fix those easily

      Dominik Samol Will a new 1520 or 2520 fit onto an old 4100 processor which I happen to own?

    • @dominiksamol9068
      @dominiksamol9068 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@siggimac yes it will on the red 4100, but the clearence is "very tight". If you use the longer ones, you should have a Lego chassis nearby and some hot glue if you feel the original support is not enough. The white CPA 4100 Color Processor has a smaller compartment for the drum and here the new drums "scratch" the side and the possible rollers do not support enough.

    I ended up taking a Sharpie and putting marks at the 270ml level on all my graduates, to make measuring during processing easier. (I also darkened the 170ml line for similar reasons.)

    • @NicosPhotographyShow
      @NicosPhotographyShow  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What tank takes 170ml? The small 1 roll one? Or paper?

    • @derekkonigsberg2047
      @derekkonigsberg2047 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NicosPhotographyShow A half-full 2520 tank, which is what you use to process a single roll of 120 (or a C-41 test strip).

    Hi Nico, I have the CPE2, recently purchased used. Wondering about the volume that can be used as I think the quoted cc is a little meagre. Would 350mm be OK.
    Your loving follower. :-)

      Me too...Wife got fed up of finding the slow cooker in my man cave with bottles of chemicals in it. Not used it yet as it's Summer here in NZ. 😎
      I remember back in the 90's when I had one I always used a little extra in the drums for film and prints. The CPE2 is a great machine and I am sure you will enjoy using it. Mine came with the original instructions but you can download a copy easily enough if you need one 😊

    I am surprised you don't mention the CL-81 reel (for 3 sheets of 8x10.) made by Catlabs or those from 20th Century Cameras (2 sheets of 8x10) allowing you to use the Jobo Multitank 5

    Thanky for your interesting video. Jobo still produces in former West Germany by the way.
    Since you seem to be an expert on Jobo I am pretty sure you can help me with my problem.
    I got hold of a really old Jobo processor (type 4100). Will the Jobo 1520 and 2520 fit onto this old processor?

    Thanks for the run through Nico. It might be worth stressing for the newbies out there that you don't need to buy one of these to do colour film. My recommendation is to get a sous vide wand cooker. They are about £50 on eBay and will keep a bowl or bucket of chemistry at a pretty stable 38C. They even have an impeller to circulate the water. Nothing like this was available back in the pre-digital age. A sous vide cooker also packs away in hardly any space. If you are into colour negs and scanning (I'm not) the whole processing setup could be put together for less than £100 and then run at about £2.50 / roll (based on a Bellini 1l kit) - provided you could use the chemistry before it went off i.e. average about 1 roll a week. But I'm a monochrome man now. I can't stand the scanning ;)
    I have an old Jobo drum (not sure of the model as it is stored away) but I think it is a 4531. I hope I'll be able to do 8x10 b&w negs in it once my Intrepid arrives. If it doesn't work I might buy one of the new Stearman trays.
