What an excellent video of the amplifi hd, ive decided going to buy multiple amplifi hd routers instead of the pack with the wireless only mesh points. I found out that if you buy the bundle you can only use the mesh points with the included router only. If you buy the standalone router you can either extend an aftermarket router or just create a mesh amplifi hd network. But you cant do that with the bundled HD router. Also the ability to do ethernet backhaul which would give a much better network with regards to speed around the whole home.
Great review not too many reviews go into the network capabilities and the many changes and options it allows, because of this review I am buying this particular mesh network. Thanks
Good detailed review specially the bridge mode. I was looking for a system that can extend by range without changing the IP range so that my printer and other devices can talk across devices. Keep up the good work!
great review!!!! could you please elaborate on how you are using a vpn with these in bridge mode? is the vpn running on another router connected to the Amplifi?
Hey, Great vid! Do you think the HD i.e 20k sq feet one would cover 3 floors which is around 10000 sq. Feet in total? I understand the coverage is 20000 but that is in an open space.
it claims to have aggregated 5Gbps speeds. I'd like to see a file transfer between two PC's both running an SSD on this mesh network. LAN speeds are more important to me since I do a lot of file transfers from my server PC to my main desktop PC. If this mesh router can deliver what it claims then this could be a cheaper solution than buying a 10Gbps switch as 5Gbps would be enough to saturate my SSD's speeds.
can you still do all the setting stuff through a web browser ect or can you only do it with the app? i prefer using my computer then a bloody touch screen :P
+Eattsie the experience is more phone based. I have had it running since this review with no issues. My data consumption is 1 tera byte a month. This router is solid
So I assume that the mesh that you call a router is being connected to the real router....right? Or...do we use the mesh as the router and disconnect the original router?
I have it in my home. Not a 20K sq home but it covers the house nicely. No issues and its fast. My family and I are heavy users it's been on since the launch of this video and we have pumped thru the router 3 Terabytes of data. No issues, no reboots. No problems.
Hi and thanks for the video. Trying to learn but I'm one of those that gets confused when it comes to the bridge mode thing :) I've got a good modem/router, if I bought this and run as you say in bridge mode I take it I first turn off the wi-fi on my current router? After connecting in bridge mode am I then still able to use the LAN ports on my existing router and the ones on the Amplifi router? Currently I have ok-ish wifi but no ethernet connections round the house, I'm trying to come up with a solution that gives all over decent coverage without having to rip up floors, chase out walls to lay cable (I can run one router to router) Thanks, I hope I've explined that clearly :)

This system is amazing ,It claims 20,000 square ft ,it's worth every penny ! Nice review BTW !
If I have one in USA , can I use my same IP in other country? Which just one amplifi or do i need two?

Nice review. Great detail on the product.

I just got this but my roku device and amazon echo won't connect to the harmony remote that's connected to the WiFi. Is there a way to fix that issue?
You keep saying the router is connected to your router but what you mean is cable modem to router. Don't want people to be confused.
Quick question... have you had the chance to connect an external hard drive to this router?
The usb port is nonfunctional for connecting a hard drive or printer. It says future update for the port is coming. So maybe in the future.

No,He meant to say modem. Its a router, and has mesh points that connect to the router.
Is there anything I can do with this mesh unit and my google home?
Is this USB C charger?
Could I get 500 mbps on this router?
I have a combo modem/router can I still set it up and us it as a second router?
Yes. I havr comcast modem router and wifi. I have this plugged into the router and disabled the wifi of the Comcast router
Does the app show what device is connected to the specific amplifi node?

I see he didn't respond to you and it's because he doesn't know. Lol!
does this need an internet provider?
Yes
Ure kidding right?
No, it doesn't. It can work without for a home network. To get internet, you will need a ISP.
Do i still need a modem?
Yes
Not necessarily, depends what connection type you have.
Do you have a peg on your nose during this. sounds like you have some sort of cold.
