I don't know why Arnab become a Journalist or TV Anchor instead of Referee in Wrestling Ring. Every day he invited 10 people for 50 min program and we see the hate is spreading more deep and deeper into the people's mind.
All those people in India, I will ask a very simple question. Would you like to see a United India or Independent Tamilnadu?
Because anyone who asks for Hindi to be National one language of India is asking for war they can't win. And Tamilnadu is ready to fight this war to the last Tamil man standing.

@40:49 - Kasturi to shouting Nupur --> Better to have a "Sir hangover" than a "Mughal hangover" :). LOL... the Tamil lady nailed it. Most commonly used words in Hindi (for example sabzee, chaaku, dimaag, galat, kurzi, khoon, dil, dost, kamra and countless others) are all Arabic or Persian. And most Hindi speakers aren't aware of them. Original Sanskrit words are more commonly used in South Indian languages like Kannada & Malayalam (where Mughal/Arabic influence was limited).

Abdul Kalam, Abhinandan, isro chairman Sivan etc, they are also tamilian too,Our(tamilians) patriotism towards India is unquestionable!!!!! U guys must learn from us..... India means unity in diversity!!!!! If I learn hindi, will u learn my Tamil, Kannada or Telugu???
Even I'm a BJP supporter, but it doesn't mean to accept everything!!!!!!
Do u know one thing,in India, large number of people are learning hindi in Tamil Nadu through hindi prachar sabha in Chennai. Nearly 6.5 lakhs people's are studying hindi in Tamil Nadu. If people want, they learn anything any language, but if u stuff forcefully, they ll vomit!!!!!!!

BuT they are!! Dravidian bigotry towards North Indian's especially people from the Hinterland has totally gotten out of hand in recent years. I see it online all the time. No matter what an India related video/social media post or whatever is about, some southie will come and in and make it about south vs north then try to pretend like Kerela or Tamil Nadu is like southern California and UP and Bihar are sub Saharan Africa. This hatred for Hindi is part of that Bigotry.
Its beyond delusional some of the things they say and beleive in. They should just go and look at GDP production in the last fiscal year and where which state was and their delusions will dissapear...

My mother tongue is hindi but i have been brought up chennai and have being staying here for the last 28 years. Most of my close friends are all south indian. But from my experience after staying here for so many years, there are lots of people [localites] here who are educated and including the autowala, taxiwalas, etc even after knowing how to speak english and/ or hindi would never speak to other i.e. non-tamilans in that language but in tamil. These people say that if you are in tamil nadu you need to learn to speak in tamil because we stay in Tamil Nadu because they dont want to go beyond speaking tamil. These autowalas would also take advantage of charging double the amount from non-tamilians because they do not understand tamil.
I have passed out my 12th std from state board school in 2006 and I very clearly remember when I was in my 11th std, just few months before our annual exams the government had passed the rule stating that it is mandatory learn scientific tamil in state board or matriculation. After staying here for so many years I had learnt to speak tamil on my own will and wish. Though i was sick and had to stay in the house, my parents had encourage me to put in effort to learn to wright the basic words and letters through my uncle within one month before the tamil exams since i couldnt attend my school in order to pass that paper. But I am sorry to say that even localite &/ or the people who had choosen tamil as their second language found it difficult and the very next year they had removed it. So pls tell me then why am I being imposed to learn to wright tamil language, just because I choose to stay in chennai. Let me tell you I love the people and place because of their simplicity and non-interfearing in nature but I still dont agree with their decision to make it mandatory to learn tamil in the school.
If you go to any place in the north or north-east or to places like bombay/ pune/ hyderabad/ bangalore, etc, people know hindi [i am not talking about whether they can write hindi or not], they all &/ or most of them can converse in hindi. But here especially in tamil nadu, most of them neither encouage nor do they wanna learn other other languages and I am talking about uneducated people or politicians.
Let me also tell you that when these people go other states in India, they find it difficult to converse in those languages because they dont know any other indian languages other than tamil [pls i am also including the who people who know english] find it difficult to survive. Its even worse when these people go outside India, they are discriminated not only by foreigners but by fellow imdiands just because they don't know hindi and then they find it difficult to gel in with them just because of the language. This is the experiences which couple of my friends and/ or other young people had faced while staying in abroad and then they themselves are telling us that we should also learn and also encourage orthers to learn hindi in order to survive and are not be discriminated.
Lets understand what Mr. Shah had stated that he appreciates the fact that we Indians have so many reginal language which are equally importand, this means that we all believe in unity in diversity but it is also important to have one common language which we all can understand i.e. hindi since most of us can understand and converse in it. So pls tell me how many of you all including tamilian can understand &/ or converse in Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Bengoli, Urdu, Gujrati, Tamil, etc. But you all still argue and/ or emphasize that we shouldn't make hindi as a common language just because you feel inferior but you want all the non-tamil speaking people to learn tamil just because we chose to stay in chennai or any other places in TN.

Ans : because they don't know hindi
Q : so you people accept us only after when we know hindi

If answer is no.. Then they are wonderful and proven to be the best in accepting india's diverseness

Hindi being an Indian language is a misnomer. It is mostly the language of Islamic invaders (who were just as brutal or even more brutal than Britishers). Almost all the commonly used words in Hindi (for example kitaab, bachhaa, khaana, sabzee, chaaku, dimaag, galat, kurzi, khoon, dil, dost, kamra, khel, yaad, safed, nahaana, beewi, kaanoon, adaalat, aadmi, hawaa and countless others) are all Arabic or Persian words. One other thing - Hindi is much more foreign language in Tamil Nadu than English. English at least has a large presence in Tamil Nadu since last 400 years. We are happy if they continue to speak their language and give us the freedom to speak ours. I genuinely admire your broad mindedness to Pakistanis though. Those people raped & looted your ancestors. Hindi-speaking Kashmiri Pandits were raped, killed & kicked out of their homeland. Even today they kidnap, rape & convert your Hindi-speaking Hindu sisters still living in Pak, but despite all this you still welcome them with open arms. That's really admirable. No one said they will not learn hindi, but by changing the practice of writing exams of the Railways and the Postal exams in English and hindi only, is this not imposition? The milestones in tamilnadu was changed to English and hindi? Why not in Tamil and hindi? Why remove tamizh?

      Dear Quaesitor luminis ,
Thanks for your reply with a dash of sarcasm/ ignorance that it was a not a state psc exam. Well, Nobody said so. Sorry for your level of comprehension about the issue and my comments therewith.
My reference was to the incident wherein three days before the written exams for recruitment of POSTMAN and other posts, the postal department WITHDREW the option of writing exams in any regional languages other than English and hindi . Are you aware of this? If not please read " times of India " dated 20 Feb 2019.
Then, upon the Madras high court's intervention on a PIL on 30 Jul 2019 the central government had to cancel those exams and later convinced the court that exams can be written in the regional languages as it used to be earlier !!!
Nobody opposed learning hindi, but like in this incident by removing the option of a regional language, do you call it as someone is proposing hindi or imposing hindi?
Your lame excuse of issues in correction of these papers falls flat as these regional languages are recognized and acknowledged as official languages as per our constitution, and we have adequate resource and structure to correct these papers.
If one feels that English is a foreign language and has to be discontinued, then English has to be removed and not the regional language, right? Do you still see proposing of hindi here and not imposing?
Moreover, if hindi is to be treated as a unifier within India, so would be English with the outside world and the regional language within the state, right?
Have you ever thought of the logic of why should a person for the position of a Postman write exams in hindi while he has to sort and deliver the letters written by the people in Tamil in this case ?
It is not that South Indians oppose hindi but the truth is hindi people oppose south Indian languages and wants to impose only hindi. How can we claim that we respect all the regional languages while we have only "Hindi divas" and what about " Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam,Tamil ( one of the oldest languages in the world) or any other regional language divas? Is this too difficult to comprehend my friend ?
Finally the solution to this issue may be 3 language policy :
      1) Regional language within the state.
      2) Maybe Hindi within the country (not mandatory )
      3) English with the outside world.
This would lead to Unity in diversity, else the logic seems rubbish otherwise.

Although I support 3 language policy and not Hindi as the unifier (rather Sanskrit bcoz almost all languages have fundamentally common words matching with Sanskrit and it's also written in directive principals of our Constitution), but see how even Muslims across the country are taking interest in fueling the voice against Hindi when the fact is that almost all Indian Muslims cutting across different regions can speak very good Urdu and that too because of Islam which teaches them to not respect regional/ethnic/national/linguistic identities.
I can understand my South Indian friends having problem with Hindi speaking people getting unfair advantage, and that's why Sanskrit is mentioned in the Constitution bcoz apart from a very very few people, everyone will have to learn Sanskrit on the basis of his/her mother language and that'll balance the unfair advantage which was otherwise to Hindi speaking people. Moreover I also understand Tamil is equally great but then forcing Tamil will also give an unfair advantage to Tamil speaking people...nah?
BTW we now have universal language translator as well which can even translate the sentiments using AI. So chill and don't make it my language vs yours. Already Aryan Dravidian Theory is gone. And I am not saying that English hasn't made us gained nothing it has but it's the hipocrate of those people and the so called stars they can't even make announcements in Tamil and say that our language I in danger such a way is a path to destruction and sooner or later Hindi will be there to benefit and the survey is of 2001 and what about now it muct surely have way passed that and no imposition but it's a little bit of necessities of the coming time and if I would go to South states then I would have to learn that regions language slowly but surely do erasing those differences and boundaries.
Like seriously we all celebrate diwlai ,Holi and other festivals tell me how were are so different.

English is the best language to communicate all India.but unfortunately 20% north Indians understand and speak English as a second language. But I think meximum 60% to 75% south Indians can speak English.

    How apolitical and ironical.
Arnab's 'The Debate' starts with voice over from Kamal Hassan. A Tamilian giving a voice over in English for national channel anchored by Assamese born-Bengali speaking anchor who anchors in both English and Hindi from news studio in Marathi-speaking-Mumbai and Hindi-speaking-Delhi and panelists speaking pretty much most of Indian languages.
Isn't this what we can be proud of? C'mon people, rise above all this. I'm not in favour of imposing a particular language. A 1000 Indian rupee note will have more languages and inclusiveness than these politicians proposing a particular language.
Stop this b*^%$s$%t and continue with your lives. Jai Hind!

There's no national language in India. Supreme Court did clarifed the statement as clearly mentioned in constitution of India. They are only two official languages for official purposes. One is English and another is Hindi. There is no need to impose Hindi on southern and western states. Because India is a democratic country with secular state governments. Every state has their own official languages. Central Government should focus on economy instead of bringing another civil war in India just like United States. We must respect our constitution and our 75 years of freedom.

Hello arrogant Hindi lady I want to answer to the illogical and colonial era type question raised by you in 09:12 in the video! How dare you??? You asked to Kasthuri 'Do you like Hindi more or English more?' Are madamji you have to ask question like ''Do you like Tamil more or English more?' Because her mother tongue is Tamil. This is the problem with many Hindi people. They think that Hindi is India's mother tongue. NO NO...And why if you want to ask such question in combination like one Indian language and one Foreign language you have to modify question based on ethnicity of the person. If you ask to bengali you have to ask like 'Do you like Bengali more or English?'. And if you ask to every Indian only Hindi and English that's the problem with your attitude and wrong analogy. Hindi is just one language just like Tamil, Odia, Telugu etc. First ask the right question and actually you are still in the colonial mindset. And biggest fun is the Hindi lady talk too much and she has zero knowledge on any southern language. But see Kasthuri. She knows Hindi too. First she has to congratulate Kasthuri for knowing two Indian languages (Hindi and Tamil). Big mouth Hindi lady just knows only one Indian language!

If Hindi is going to be imposed on all states then this dictatorship move and against will of people against democracy peinciples. All non Hindi states should come together form separate union and let this so called Hindi speaking people form their own HINDISTAN.

Hi Arnab, its an wonderful debate.
Iam a kannadiga, studied in my own mother tongue till 10th std.
Lets be logical, I have taken so much of hard time learning english and sill struggling to learn different language other than my mother tongue.
Now if anyone want to make hindi as a Indian language and at the same time let me allow me to speak and work in Hindi only in all companies/employer including MNC’s.
This is the amount of effort i need to put into learn other than my mother tongue and it should be capable enough to give me to live life easily.
-Excuse me if any english word is wrong over here (still learning!)

We feel the same in South, especially in TN! So it runs both ways! In fact, Delhi is the most cosmopolitan and welcoming cities in India and have a thriving population of Bengalis, North Eastern, Telugus, Punjabis, Kashmiris, etc.
