something that could make this game even better with using modern weapons is a fear system, causing people to retreat if too many people get killed/injured near them or if they get severely injured.
I think they kind of do. I think they start to lay down when hella men get killed then wait for their buddies to come and they join them in an even bigger force. That’s what I seen enemy ai do.
@@ripoutyourintestines5099 you might find this surprising, but a static machinegun CAN move. No you can't run and gun with it, or move it as quickly as you would with an LMG or MMG, but you can definitely move it with two able bodied men
1850s? Pretty sure bunker hill was fought somewhere between 1760s-1780s. In the war against the traitor rebels because they couldn't stop calling their boyfriend France to save them from paying their debts.
I've been playing the game for a few hours now. I think he best improvement you could make on the game right now is polishing and bug fixing. The game is called rising front for those asking
The interesting thing is that despite mounting evidence that mass infantry tactics were a bad idea against clip-fed bolt action rifles, breech-loading artillery, and gatling guns, let alone machine guns, is that this, minus the snazzy red uniforms (though the French wore blue pants and red jackets early in the war), was pretty much the way British, French, and German generals tried to fight the war from 1914-1917, which explains why the casualties were so horrendous.
Now, the main reason the colonial militias retreated at bunker hill was because they ran out of ammo, so I’d assume the machine guns would rapidly run out of ammo and since there guns weren’t even in the dreams of people at that time I doubt they’d have ammo lying around for it, while machine guns are hastily superior then muskets, the muskets would win because of the ammo shortages, the main factor being if you have enough people to empty the ammo of the machine guns out
This game looks super cool, and I'm no dev so I don't know how hard this would be to inplement, but maybe you could add a morale system to this game (maybe it could be toggled on/off). Because I would imagine that the British would see their army get mowed down before theu could form a line and wouldnjust run instead of trying to fight that.
I don't think this question is as simple as people make it out to be. While modern Firearms definitely have an edge over 18th century firearms, they consume ammunition so quickly that the line infantry could make their way to cover and wait for the enemy's ammunition supply to run out, all while being within distance of their own supply depots. Modern Firearms present logistical challenges that were only able to be solved a hundred years ago or so, warfare isn't a zero sum game of "haha machine gun go brrrrr".
Those are both British ww1 soldiers and British line infantry. you can tell because of a) the weapons used by the ww1 soldiers, the Lewis machine gun, b) their uniforms, specifically the helmets. And the line infantry because a) British redcoats, b) they have a BRITISH FLAG BEHIND THEM
As the battle of Bellewood (think spelled right)demonstrated the Marine Corps Hardcore fighting capability went out numbered. You put 80 marines on top of that hill with their 30 odd six Springfield they would take every single guy out within a half a mile as long as the ammo is available. M1903 Springfield rifle in the right hands like marines was effective out to approximately one thousand yards The musket is only accurately effective at 60 to 70 yards say maximum 100 yards for our demon sake .the British infantry would have to cross an area of at least 900 yards until they’re able to get a shot off. And then efficient rifleman was capable firing 50 to 70 rounds a minute , given reloading time which isn’t very slow maybe five seconds, that would mean the British would have to cross nine football fields while being shot at. They would turn and run before the infantry men even got off the fourth shot.
Reminds me of Rise of Nations. When people got to WW1 era tech, Machine Gunners were the most OP defensive unit and could only be countered with...Heavy Cavalry.
John Basilone famously held a Japanese division (3000 souls) back for 3 days straight. The dude commanded & later manned 3 machine gun nest. When ammo was gone. He held it with pistols & a machete. Battle of Henderson Field, Guadalcanal. WW2 - Medal of Honor recipient.
The problem with bunker hill was ammunition the American pushed the British back down the hill during the battle but a lack of ammunition forced them afterwards to leave the hill.
World war 1. Started with horses, bolt action rifles, and not that great of machine guns. Ended with dreadnoughts, tanks, advanced machine guns that are still being used to this day, mustard gas, attack planes, and many more. War isn’t a good thing, but you can’t deny that war breeds innovation.
The British still technically lost the battle because they lost around 1000 casualties and the continental army only retreated because they ran out of ammo, the British called it superior tactic even though it was just a couple rushes up a hill with more soldiers than the colonies had
Wait but if the British won the battle, then the British lost the battle, But if the British won the battle, then the British lost the battle… How does this work so well…
They also had mustard gas. The tactics of battle changes with time and location. If you changed the location to a field, the red coats would still have a hard time but possibly a higher chance of survival. Have you tried switching scenarios and soldiers to see how they react according to the military tactics from their era?
