The fibers do work for those barely starting the hairloss journey. But in your case, it looked wonky as hell lol. You could tell there’s too much thickness on the top yet there’s no bulk/volume to the hair compared to the sides? I used to use fibers, the struggle was just too much to go through in the long term. Eventually my hair became too thin to use them, so I decided to buzz my head. It’s been a couple years since and I haven’t looked back

Oh man. I used these for nearly 10 years, then one day I was in a rush and bumped my head on the way into the car. So I grabbed my phone, (feeling the familiar sense of dread I got whenever anything touched my 'hair'), put the camera on so I could check the damage and had a panic attack.
The bump had done nothing. But my 'hair' looked fucking awful. And there was no way it had been fooling anyone. My bathroom lighting might be kind, but natural light showed perfectly well that I was a bald man with some clumpy shit all over my head. I wish I could upload the photo so you could see how awful it looks.
I called in sick there and then. Went home, worked up the courage, shaved my head and have received nothing but complements from everyone ever since.
Years of stressing. Worrying about rain, wind, the kids splashing me in the pool on holiday. What a waste.
You're going bald. Nobody cares but you. Shave it off. Enjoy your life.

I used hair fibers (Toppix) early on in my baldness with great success.....they work quite well when you’re in the early thinning stages, but there comes a point when you just lose too much hair/volume for them to work. They don’t provide any volume, it’s just camouflage to make thinning hair look fuller, but you NEED ENOUGH HAIR for them to cling too. My best results came when I got my hair cut super short on the sides and back and used the hair fibers on top on my remaining hair.......visually, it’s all about contrast....the shorter the sides and back the fuller the top will look (with fibers). This video is a great example of how ‘uneven’ the top will look with fibers when your hair is too long on the sides/upper sides.....there just isn’t any volume on top

  • @RayRemillard

My hair is as thin as yours and fibers work great when properly applied. It doesn't take much time at all. The hairline can be a chore right after a shower, probably due to the hair being so clean it is hard to stick to. You can start with a very Light spray of Light Hold hair spray (helps catch fibers) , then fibers, then another light spray to secure it. You don't have to use lots of spray!

I personally also think that fibers are great they do cover up a lot even quite advanced balding like someone in Baldcafes position and you don't even have to wash them out and put them in again every single day. I had the same thing happen to me at university.
I knew I was thinning all over but since I dreaded looking in the mirror, I had no idea my crown had developed a massive bald spot until I was standing on a packed bus and I momentarily looked on the CCTV screen where one of the cameras was right above my head.
It was on cold, dark, rainy Monday; I had a 3 hour long lecture and of course this girl I 'had my eyes on' wound up sitting directly behind me in the lecture hall (where the seat/rows are steeped, meaning she and her friends basically had a VIP view of my newly discovered bald crown along with my ferocious recession all round).
It was one of those moments where a single minute felt like a decade. And I was in there for 3 hours. Just things life throws at you that stay with you forever.

Great vlog Harry. As you say it's not a moral judgement and they do what they are designed for in the short term. But hair fibres (just like dermatch, wearing caps, minoxidil, finasteride, hair transplants, wigs, etc) keep your focus fixed on your hair! That is it keeps you fixated on seeing the loss of hair as a negative and it stops you moving forward which equals real growth. In saying this I am in no way telling guys not to wear caps, hair fibres, etc, etc. I'm just looking back at my thirty years of mistakes and hoping that someone can benefit from my mistakes for free. Thanks for sharing!

I've been using fibres for a couple of years already and they do a surprisingly good job in hiding your baldness at the early stages, but unless you wash them away for the night your pillow is gonna be a nightmare. Though washing them away every night and sprinkle them again every morning is bothersome and leaves your bathroom in a mess, not to mention the constant self-awareness. Thoughts on just using hair fibres on special occasions? I have been losing my hair for 11 years and my appearance has really gotten me down the last 3-4 years, my family, friends, colleagues, anyone I interact with regularly will be aware I'm balding. I have no intention of hiding my hair loss 24/7 but I would like to start wearing hair fibres on dates/meals/nights out as a confidence boost, I've accepted my hair loss but confidence is something I've always struggled with, even when I liked my appearance. I've been using fibers for about 4 years now. I agree with many that it is effective at the beginning of baldness around the crown. But my receding hairline is a nightmare with the stuff. I am tired of fearing rain, sweat, wind, or bumps. It may look ok first thing in the morning, but the worst feeling is being out and something messes it up and there's no way to fix it. Great, now people will see I'm balding and doing a terrible job at covering it up. This week I will finally pull the trigger and shave it off. It's going to be a big change and take a lot. Luckily I am able to look at photos of me in basic training 10 years ago and picture how it will look, and it's not as bad as I think.

Secondly, whenever I went into a shopping mall/building the AC upon entry would blow the fibers off my head.
But the worst experience came when I used the fibers on my head for my friends visit in Asia..I hadn't seen him in 2 years and since then my balding had gotten worse. So I put on the fibers. He didn't seem to notice and if he did he said nothing. As we were on the bus he had to climb across me and the seats to get to the bathroom. He suddenly lost his balance and his hand fell on my head to stabilise himself. Well, imagine his surprise when his hand got covered in this sticky, black, dotty goo, rather than a soft, cushioned head of hair. He looked at his hand with a mixture of confusion and horror whilst I kinda sat there embarrassed and anxious. The following weeks I shaved it all off and I've never looked back since.
So yeah that was my brief but bad experience with hair fibers. I really think all that stuff is just a band aid over the problem and its better to accept its going and just shave it off. Anyways good video as always

@@tagada7 - Actually this isn't strictly true John. I went from a Norwood 2a with noticeable diffused thinning at the vertex to a Norwood 2 with barely imperceptible thinning on just Minoxidil. The results were utterly miraculous. Maybe I was one of the lucky ones but my hairline moved forward by 1cm and it's because I applied Minoxidil on my hairline as well as the crown. I then started using Finasteride after 12 months on Minoxidil and the gains became even more wild. I now have the same hairline I had 8 years ago. I'm 39 years old and have been on Minoxidil for 2.5 years and Finasteride for 1.5 years.
With regards to the crown, I have to buzz it to 0.6mm (Number 2) to see any thinning. Above 1cm it's not noticeable. Previously my hair had to be longer than 4cm before my crown thinning could be hidden/combed over. If I'd buzzed my hair down to a Number 2 (0.6mm), it was very obvious that I was diffusing to a Norwood 6 pattern.

Minoxidil and Finasteride worked miracles for me but my loss was nowhere as bad as Bald Cafe who has way too much balding for them to work effectively. You need to have very early early male pattern loss (early diffused thinning or Norwood 3) for it to work. I'd say Bald Cafe is a Norwood 5. Only a transplant would work at this stage.

    • @Jimbo8012
      @Jimbo8012 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@tagada7 - John, my hairloss has come in stages.
By the time I was 13, I'd lost my juvenile hairline. Between 12 and 16, I went from a Norwood 0 to a Norwood 2. It was pretty aggressive loss and I was scared at the time that I was going to go bald young even though there was no history of it in my family. Then from 16 to 34, I barely receded at all. I went from a Norwood 2 to a Norwood 2a in 18 years.
Although I'm in good physical shape, I've hereditary high blood pressure and this certainly hasn't helped. I was proscribed beta blockers (which cause hair to thin) and that worsened my hair considerably. I started to notice at 36 that my hair was diffusing quite considerably. Whenever I had a shower I could clearly see my scalp and not just at the vertex. By the time of my wedding when I was 37, my hairline was between a Norwood 2a and a Norwood 3a with noticeable diffusion at the vertex.
Immediately after my wedding, I started Minoxidil. It had an incredible effect for me. Within 6 months, I could no longer see my scalp after a shower. My hair was SO MUCH THICKER. The Minoxidil turned many vellus hairs into terminal ones at the vertex. In addition, I also applied Minoxidil at the hairline even in places where I'd completely lost hair. The hairs started to reappear and my entire hairline has recovered over 1cm of hair so I've gone from a Norwood 2a to a Norwood 2.
The gains have further increased with Finasteride. Many of my family and friends were deeply skeptical that Minoxidil and Finasteride would work but they're all astonished with the results. You'd think I'd have had a hair transplant. I presume I've reacted amazingly to the treatment and caught my hair loss at just the right time.
With regards to Bald Cafe, I agree that his hair loss is far more aggressive. Minoxidil and Finasteride wouldn't work nearly as well. I suspect Bald Cafe will be a Norwood 7 in 3-5 years.

    • @Jimbo8012
      @Jimbo8012 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@tagada7 - In fairness John, it's a pretty amazing result that you're now a NW2 despite the fact that it's 27 years since your first surgery and considering how bald you were at 30!
I've been very fortunate that I've had a great response to medication. It's only costing me £400 a year to keep on top of this and that's a price definitely worth paying.
I forgot to mention how good Jobaz caffeine shampoo has been as well. It's by far the best shampoo I've used for my hair and every time I come out of the shower my hair just looks so thick and energized after using it. Much better than Alpecin...at least for me.
In addition to the Minoxidil, Finasteride and Caffeine shampoo, I think coming off the beta blockers has helped. I think drinking more water and going to bed earlier has helped. Also, I think washing my hair in lukewarm water rather than hot water has helped too.
I don't think this will last forever though and I may have to resort to a hair transplant down the line. However, I think I was well on my way to a bald spot at 45 and now I don't think that's going to happen. I'm hoping I've pushed it another 5 to 10 years down the line and that's a great result for me if that's the case. :-)

Like a hat you spend more time worrying about it falling off than actually living your life. I feel that embracing these changes head on is the only way to true confidence. I started at a 2 guard - then - 1 gaurd - then just last night zero gaurd. My work colleagues were very supportive and it is defo not as bad as you think. These types of fibers, though they statically adhere to the hair, are better when used with hair products. First applying some hair pomade, gel, cream, or mousse and letting it dry and then putting the fibers on will help it stay better even when exercising, and can also last overnight after sleeping until the next day. Topping it off with a flexible hair spray will also keep them in place. Using a make-up brush, such as a large eyeshadow brush, a blush brush, or a powder blush with dense hairs that is flat on top is great for applying it to the hairline (and beard) without getting it all over the place. The only time you need to apply a full application is when your hair is washed (or submerged in water from rain or swimming), and then touch up daily any areas that have gotten sparse. This is of course only for those who feel they want to conceal baldness or add fulness to hair. Those that want to embrace thinning and baldness should do so absolutely.

Also, it might look great when you use the hair fibres under the lighting of your bathroom. But the mistake people make is, they apply far too much under their 60w light bulb, and it looks great. Full head. Yet as soon as they go into the sun, it's immediately obvious that something is wrong; and these people don't realize that everyone around them knows full well they are using fibres.
It usually takes a photo or some iphone footage and then they realise how bad it looks. Cue looking at that video 100 times analyzing every frame with a horrible sinking feeling "oh my god, it looks terrible, I've been going out like that for a year!!"

Hair fibres have got me through university, I saved up enough to get decent quality ones that stick well and don't blow out in wind. In fact, they're so good that they're actually quite hard to wash out of my hair, although I wouldn't recommend it for going to a pool/ beach. However, they are only for filling in the slightly thin area at the front, and my thin patch on my crown. I could imagine that if/when my hairloss progresses, I will almost certainly have to buzz it because there's only so much fibres can do.

Ideally put hair fibers after washing and dry you hair it gives a lot of volume to your hair , then apply a volume spray to finish the process. It gives you amazing results believe me. I’m 25 and my crown is thinning a lot. I’m on minoxidil for 2 years and started trying finasteride a few months ago. Although I’ve been losing my hair since I was 19, my crown is just thin, I don’t really have a bald spot yet, but it is obvious that I’m balding. This week I started applying fibers on my crown, and I think they are great for someone like me that still has a lot of hair and is actually trying to prevent further loss. If my treatments don’t work, I will stop the fibers before it gets weird. If they do work, I will use the fibers probably until I’m 30, at that age I don’t mind having a bald or thin spot. I think that fibers won’t do anything for you unless you are still just thinning in the crown. I would never use them on my hairline (and I do have a messed up hairline).

I started using them about 2 years ago. Just for the crown, which is vital: if you go on the temples and hairline you risk them running off. After sprinkling, hairspray is needed to make them stick.
Also, not going over board is key. A can of Toppik lasts me about 6 weeks. Even more than that nowadays. Why?
Since lockdown, I started working mostly from home, so I only use them when I go out or meet somebody (usually weekends). I’ve used them at the beach and vacations. Obviously, once you go on the water they’re gone. I carry a cap and wear it after coming out the water for the rest of the day.
The texture is not particularly pleasant, since your hair becomes kinda dry to the touch (as if you had dust and hairspray in your head - which you do). The application for me is quick and simple. Takes me less than 10 mins (including the dryer).
Are hair fibers ideal? No. Could I get rid of them? Eventually, for sure. For now I’m making the most of what I’ve got.
Hair fibers could easily be seen by many as the last straw before the buzzcut.

I do use the hair fiber, my hair los is focused to the back of my head. In my experience it really helps to use hair spray they really locks the fibers on to the head and remaining hairs. So, really essential for the use of fibers. They really help me because they cover up the bald spot. No more baldness. Happy days
Now for the drawbacks: they are expensive in the long term. And they don't go with water. So swimming is out of the question. Heavy rain also no go.
Also my bathroom (were I do my hair) is covered in fibers every day.
Basically there are pro's and con's for them. For now I am not in the stage of accepting the baldness, so I'll keep using them unless I have the fuck you money for a hair transplant.
Thing is; in my opinion, the shape of my head is not suited for a complete shave. I'm not comfortable with that. So to sum things up: fibers can help you if you use them in the Wright way. But if you can accepting your hair loss is always better

You get addicted to them, it's like dope. It works fine at first when you are just thinning and you are ecstatic, thinking this is an amazing secret that has no drawbacks at all. But like dope you get dependent on it, only with nanofibres people are so used to seeing you with a "full head" you can't suddenly turn up one day half bald.
And they work less and less as you get thinner. It gets to a point where you know it looks bad but you still have to use them. And you're so used to seeing yourself with them on you convince yourself they look OK.
And a big problem is people applying nanofibres in the dark or under a dim 60w lightbulb. It can look great in the bathroom but as soon as you go outside? it looks so fake. Then one day you see a video or picture of your head outside, and you realize everyone has seen these nanofibres the whole time. And you think, peoples comments or jokes towards me were they due to hair??

They CAN be useful. But they ARE a massive pain in the backside. I'm so far very lucky to have reached middle age with a full head of hair, but I have suffered a couple of instances of alopecia areata, which is basically a bald patch the size of a small egg. When I had it a year ago, it was in an awkward spot on the back of my head. I used to comb a little hair lightly over it and use fibres to mask the skin. Worked well. But it's really messy stuff, it goes everywhere including up your nostrils. It also needs strong hairspray to stick to, it doesn't stay on as well as the adverts claim. I recently had a disaster, clipping my own hair during lockdown. I put the wrong attachment on and took a huge chunk out of the side. Luckily, I still had a pack of hair fibres from when I used it on my alopecia, so I'm currently wearing them again just for a few days until it grows back enough for me to sort it out. Excellent result. Like I say, they're useful for some situations but I think I'd only want to wear them for those kinds of temporary needs, it doesn't realistically provide any permanent solution. They're really hard to to apply well, they can very easily just look like a lump of dust sitting on your head. It's a practiced art, to get them looking right. Bottom line, they're useful for light, occasional purposes.

Not really on topic, but just something for you to look out for. Notice how your right side is way higher and out of place on those push-ups. That's going to give you bad posture and muscle pains if you don't become aware of it.

Good spot 👍 this was recorded quite a while ago. I’ve been trying to correct for about 6/7 years now after an injury. 👍 thanks

They are to be used as a supplement, like if you're thinning abit on the crown and you're going on a special occasion, it's a subtle difference but if you're using it to fully transform then you're putting more work and worry into something that is natural

I think hair fibers would work on people with minimal balding on their crown area. Hair fibers aint for people who already lost their hairline (like me).

i know this is late as hell. but if you want size in your muscles, more repetitions and higher volume is what will give you size growth. If you train very heavy low repetition work then your strength numbers will shoot through the roof but your size will not.

Still ngl. Imo it's convincing. Not bad looking anyway.
Sure it's maintenance and effort and you might be worried what people think still. But imo. Not bad.
Glad to see still keeping it monk mode mate

Just take cold showers and do the morocco method. But it needs to be done early enough in balding phase. When I was 21 I did a ton of research because I noticed some thinning and a bit of a receding hairline. I was able to decide that things like transplants, cosmetic solutions etc were not solving the root of the problem. The best solution I found is to take very cold, preferably ice cold showers that hit your head for long periods. It does take time to get used to cold showers, but once you do, you'll never go back to warm showers. I figured out that it's the constant warm and hot water that accelerates hair loss and hair thinning drastically. The second thing is a product called the Morocco Method. It has 5 rotating shampoos that use 50 unique natural elements found in nature to detoxify, enrich and grow hair naturally. Today I'm 34 years old and I haven't even thought about my hair in over a decade. My hair is more full today than it was at age 21. I'd say cold showers was responsible for 65% and the morocco method helped with 35%. Plus people always comment on how great my skin looks and hair looks. As humans, we are losing hair rapidly because of hot showers. We are taking way too many hot showers in the modern era. That one change of switching to cold water on your head only will make a massive difference to your hair loss. Stop putting chemicals on your hair. Today's shampoos and hot water is responsible. Switch to cold showers!

Also when sunlight or recessed lights hit the fibers it shines right through and you can see the powdery texture and lack of volume that you would normally see with real hair.

Use a hairspray in the product's range. That will fix the problem of running hair fibres.

To be honest you kind of looked good with the fibers (also without). The reason why the hair fibers got messy around the hairline is because you didn't use the hold spray with it. But yeah it is a bit inconvenient. If you used it for more casual events it would look good.

They do work, I am slightly balding in the crown and they work a treat for it. I also live in Thailand where it is hot all of the time and when I sweat it doesn't budge. I will just have to avoid the water festival in April! 🤣
