War has taken over the Pride Lands. You may remember the battle for Pride Rock or the fight in the Outlands, but those were isolated skirmishes. In the war for the Pride Lands, innocents and leaders have been attacked, armies have formed, many battles have been fought and of course the lion who began this conflict was none other than SCAR!

I think it's because Zira and her lions were out of the outlands, remember she was sent flying out of the outlands to a lands beyond the mountains bordering the outlands.

I think the reason that Zira wasn't recruited is because she's a back up plan, or he wanted to have those lions available for if he succeeds. Then his pride takes over with Zira in charge.
That's my theory anyway...
I think Zira being a backup plan is a good idea, and it sort of fits in with my theory.
I just figured zira went rogue after kovu met simbas daughter. Like she could use kovu as the heir to scar to be queen regent until kovu could take over and then be queen mother/hand to the king like zazu is

Nesissa Oerba her plan right now is training Kovu in order to save Kiara in a fire and infiltrate Simba’s plan (seen in the other part the time skip in LK2 when Kiara is an adult). So...yeah. Don’t forget this show is within Said time skip😅 so they can’t contradict anything we know happened in that movie

I think scar didn't recruit Zira is because she is busy raising Kovo. Kovo was supposed to be scar's hier so it would make sense for him to want him to be safe. I do think that Zira will show up at least once during the war.

Here's a theory for a video, Issac; in the episode "The Hyena Resistance", after Jasiri saves Janja's life; she starts talking to him as if she had feelings for him. After she offers him the opportunity to ditch Scar, he says the line, "I don't think so; we ain't the same, Jasiri!", in a tone that we've never heard from him before; as if he was in pain from something, not physically. I also couldn't help but notice that in the music video for when Janja was ranting about Jasiri and how she's bad news, I won't lie; I got some crazy shipping vibes from some shots in the video.
Could there have been something more between Janja and Jasiri in the past that we don't know about?

Scar probably forgot about Zira and her family but I hope they come back soon. Also I don't count this as a Disney Junior show I just count it as a Disney show. Scar made this show 10 times better.
If he did recruit zira then the events of the Lion King 2 probably wouldn't happen. This show is suppose to be a timeline between the events during Lion King 2 and after Lion King 1 there is a possibility scar did not want to reveal himself to zira because he knew she had plans of her own.
I think that the outlanders - or more specifically, Kovu - are a back-up plan and that's why no one is sent to recruit them. Like, ultimately his endgame goal is to destroy Simba and his pride and Scar doesn't really care how it happens. He'll send his army out to fight and kill for him but then totally undermine what they've done by contacting Zira somehow and claiming that it's time to return and give Kovu his place as king, nevermind that he's still a cub, and if the hyenas, who are doing all this so that THEY can rule, don't like it, everyone can fight to the death. But should his army fail we get the plot of TLK2
I think Scar didn’t recrute Zira because maybe his spirit could look into the future and see that , in his eyes Zira would ultimately end up failing him( I know it’s a stretch but you never know)
I'm sure a couple of people have pointed it out, but I believe the reason why Scar didn't call for Zira's help was because she and her lionesses were busy training Kovu. His training to dethrone Simba might be a sort of plan B in case this war didn't go smoothly for Scar's side. That or the people who created the plot line for The Lion Guard completely left out the significance of Zira, Kovu, and the Outsiders role either because of timing or for some reason they couldn't fit them into the story xD

I theorize that Zira wasn’t involved because Scar thought that if Zira learns of Scar’s spirit being summoned in a volcano, she would turn her back on him due to her knowing that evil kings can only be summoned in a volcano. My point is that Zira has always thought of Scar as a virtuous and great leader and if she learns of him not only teaming up with outlanders, but also his Sinister reawakening, she may lose faith in the lion

Maybe Scar, remembering that Zira had Kovu (his named successor); he was saving them as a backup plan in case this plan didnt work/failed? because it doesnt seem like Zira started the training with Kovu that she intended to teach him that would be executed in Lion King 2?
I believe that Scar didn't recruit Zira is because nobody in the Outlands knows where she and her fellows lions are. The last time we saw them was in the episode "Lions of the Outlands" and close to the end of the episode, Kion banished Zira and the other lions beyond the borders of the Outlands. So, maybe Scar asked his followers to find Zira but couldn't and Scar just said "Oh well, we'll just start the war without her." If Kion never banished Zira and the other lions beyond the borders of the Outlands, she would be in Scar's new army. That's my theory. Enjoy! :3

I fread online about the early drafts for Simba's Pride; it said that they were gonna have Zira be in charge of a clan of hyenas, but changed it to a pride of lions since Zira (Scar's most loyal follower) working with the very animals that killed him wouldn't make sense, and it really doesn't. I'm positive if Janja told Zira about Scar, she would have her lionesses get rid of him, the jackals and the rest of Scar's followers to show how faithful she is to him
I’m really hoping he does Janja’s full redemption story of how he changed from a villain to a good guy and went from Scar’s side and evils side to good and to Kion’s side
My immediate thought as to why Scar didn't recruit the Outlander lions is because they had already failed him resulting in his death (fight at the end of The Lion King) and Scar is not forgiving of those he feels has failed him.

It's simple; while a pride of banished Lionesses would've been the perfect allies for this war of his...it would be against Scar's interests to involve "the Missus" in this plan...because from his perspective, he no longer had need of her.
Like I mentioned in another video, I believe Scar had grown frustrated with Zira due to the children they produced being "inadequate" to be his heirs. But Scar would only ever NEED an heir if he was going to die and need to pass on his lineage and legacy to a successor...
Now that Scar has been revived as an undead fire-ghost, he's effectively Immortal now...if he succeeds in taking-over the Pride Lands, he'd have no reason to ever relinquish power or pass-on control to a successor.
Therefore, Zira and her children are useless to him, and worse, might get in the way of his plans succeeding, due to being slighted. Zira would undoubtedly be offended by this, considering that being the Mate of Scar and mother to his children is the ONLY claim to power she has.

I think that Scar didn't recruit Zira because he didn't trust any Lions after what happened in the original Lion King. This was even though Zira was completely Loyal to Scar, he remembered how easily his Lion flowers were turned against him before.

As a possible discussion, it recently occurred to me that in terms of family backgrounds, Janja, Cheezi and Chingu’s weren’t really established, whereas the current Lion Guard outlined theirs throughout some episodes.
Kion is part of Simba’s family. Beshte has his father Basi. Ono sometimes hangs with his flock. Bunga has Timon and Pumbaa as adoptive uncles and Simba as his…half-brother? And Fuli’s family IS technically the Guard, clearly stated by her.
That being said, could Janja, Cheezi or Chungu have any blood relation to each other, or even to the original hyena trio from the Lion King movie

I think he didn’t recruit Zira and her pride because he might have already been aware she was in the works of her own plan as well. She had to focus on training Kovu and her soldiers. Sort of like a back up plan in case the war didn’t bear fruit.
I actually think they will bring Zira and hee pride in later. I honestly love seeing her and the other outsiders. Its so refreshing. But, I do think Scar will bring them in. Zira is easy for him to manipulate and she is devoted to Scar, so she would join right away.
In Simba's Pride Zira never chose to lead her Lioness army until Simba was injured and weaker than normal. I think that must mean his strength was the key to why they wouldn't stand a chance while he was strong. She was older as well and her only youths were two cubs and a termite infested son whom she had no faith in.
you didnt mention in the hyena resistance jasiri's whole clan were added to scars wanted list.

I think the reason that Zira and her pride were kept out of the loop about Scar because of a few reasons;
1) Scar doesn't know there in the outlands
(2) His followers don't know that Scar and Zira were close and that someone should alert the outland pride.
(3) Zira probably wouldn't believe that Scar was back unless they were face to face and Scar couldn't appear without a large amount of fire and there isn't much to set fire to in that part of the Outlands.
(4) Jasiri and her clan are between Scar and Zira so Zira nor Scars 'army' would be able to get through without the lion guard being notified.
(5) Zira doesn't want to deal with the lion guard or anyone in the pridelands or outlands.
I think Zira will be in this plan at some point. Once Scar realizes the other Outlanders can’t carry out his plans, he’ll send a vulture to find Zira and make her the new head of his army.
I’m glad The Lion King continued after Simba’s Pride.
I think that Scar didn’t recruit Zira because he just didn’t know that she and her pride were living in a termites mound.
If he had known that she was there, maybe he would have recruited her. After all, Zira and Scar were close.
I'm very curious to see how this conflict goes in later episodes. I'm hoping at some point, for the biggest battle, we get to see the Lion Guard fight off Scar's army with the rest of the Pride Landers helping them out. That would be awesome.
A major reason why Zira is not involved in Scar's War is because Ushari plans to give the Pridelands to the reptiles to rule on Scar's behalf; Kovu in particular would put Ushari's plan in jeopardy because of his formal role as Scar's heir to the throne, therefore the cobra would likely do anything to prevent Scar from learning the truth, that Zira is still alive and still loyal to him

I believe it's because all the animals that Scar required were just pawns. He did want Zira and his heir Kovu to be hurt in the war, so he just got lesser animals to fight and potentially die in the battle. That way when they "won" his loyal lionesses could come back and rule.

I got really scared every time the Outlanders, under Scar's orders, were taking the attacks to another level and marking targets: Rafiki, Zazu, Jasiri, Simba; and even in the Chameleon episode, I thought their targets were Timon and Pumbaa when they were planning to block the water of the Hakuna Matata Falls, but above all it scared me because some of them were dear characters to me from the movies and I couldn't imagine being attacked. Maybe it was a Disney Junior show but it maintained that same feeling of seriousness of real danger as in the franchise.

I love your point of view on these Disney topics. Honestly, I figure that Zira and her lionesses were just too far away for Scar to recruit. At the end of the episode, Lions of the Outlands, they were all blown away by Kion's roar to a far distant part of the outlands.
Not to mention I think Scar just didn't want any of that ex-girlfriend drama with Zira.

I don’t remember the title of the exact episode of the lion guard. However, by the time, scars ghost was revived zera, and her family were no longer even living in the outlands at all. Cayenne had already roared her, Koval, Vitani, and nucha out of the outlands.
I think he didn't recruit Zira because, either she was to fanatical and would doubt that he really was Scar or because he knew about her plans for Kovu and wanted to use that as a backup plan.

If my timeline is correct, Zira would of been busy training Kovu to take over Pride Rock.
In the Lion Grade there are a few episodes where Kerra and Kion are together, so that would mean that Kovu, Kerra, Kion and Vitone are all around the same age; and Zira probably thinks Scar is dead and Scar probably just used her like he did the hyenas and everything else he touches.

Jackson Wood Me too. Humans are MUCH MORE terrifying than animals. Animals only kill if NECESSARY or for SURVIVAL. HUMANS on the other hand kill for *PLEASURE*. That's why Disney villains like FROLLO, SHAN YU, & CLAYTON are more evil than SHERE KHAN, SABOR, and even SCAR.

Here's my theory if Janja and his pack leave to join in the fight against Scar as we seen in the latest episode that came out. Janja was hesitate about joining Jasiri's Hyena Resistance and there building up Janja leaving Scar. So what if after Janja's pack leaves Scar recruits Zira and outlanders which would make sense due to Scar's army losing a part of it's heavy hitters. As well as it would fit Scar's personality where after Janja's pack leave he would be like " Never send a hyena ..... to do a lion's job" and out of the shadows comes out Zira and her pride taking the hyena's spot in the army.

I think zira isn’t in scars army because we know what you said takes place after lions on Outlands. At the end of that kion roars and sends them back to what looks like their area of the lion long 2 termite area so perhaps zira just wasn’t aware of scar and was scheming her own plan at the time.
Even jasiri who is on kions side didn’t even know till one of the later episodes with her in episode when kion told her
Jasiri finds out in Season 2 episode 23 when kion explains in hyena resistance and she lives in a different part of Outlands
So perhaps zira wasn’t aware Of scar
He probably didn't recruit her because she had to take care of kovu since he was chosen to become king and he want her to prepare him for the future which is the second Lion King movie
The trailer for the lion guard season 3 shows that the characters are older, so Kovu and Kiara mit be the age they are in TLK 2 simba's pride.

I haven't seen the Lion Guard but watching all these videos about the Lion Gaurd it makes me wonder why this show is on Disney JR instead of Disney Channel or Disney XD. It's pretty dark to be on Disney Jr.
Zira can not be included because she’s training Kovu and her fight is to kill Simba when Kovu and Kiara are adults. If she’s included in this war it would be a contradiction, that being said I hope we get a flashback or SOMETHING to do with Kovu interacting with Scar or Scar interacting with Zira in some way

I never knew there was so much lore about the lion king I couldnt care less about, why this was suggested to me I have no idea...but props on your passion about all this
From a story standpoint, I can't really see any reason for scar not to have the lionesses working with the others, he could have easily sent one of his many followers to go find them in their new home, which is admittedly not too close. BUT from the writers standpoint, it kind of makes sense. Or rather, makes the most sense, even though it still doesn't make sense. See, if the lionesses were to be part of this war, it would put Kovu in a very odd situation. If Kovu were to fight in the war for scar, it would make him more of a bad guy, which isn't his character. There COULD be ways around this, but all the ones I can think of have flaws. If he just refused to fight, Zira/Scar would know he wouldn't be good as Scars Heir. If he were to secretly help the Lion Guard/The Pridelanders in general, Kion and the Guard, and maybe even Simba himself would see this, making later hostilities towards him in the second movie uncalled for, as they would KNOW he was on their side. And if he did it ENTIRELY in secret, not letting even the guard or Kiara see it, then the audience would most certainly not be happy, as they've seen this character help the heroes, and still get treated as the bad guy. And that is most certainly not a message you want to send to kids (I mean the target audience is like 5 year olds here, if it were for an older group that very well could become an option.) I really can't see any way around this, without breaking the second movie in one way or another. And they COULD go for a "Well we won't make the two cubs of the group fight" but that doesn't seem like something any of them would do. Can anyone else think of ANY way around this? Other then maybe Kovu just straight up disappearing? Actually I just thought of one thing they could do, but it wouldn't really be satisfying to me. They could say that Kovu and one of the lionesses are doing a long term training thing? But I feel like Zira would be the one doing that, and it feels like there's no point of them being there if Zira isn't there. So I guess that doesn't really work either. XD Can ANYONE think of ANY way the lionesses could fight, and NOT screw up the second movie? :P I can't.

I think he was saving zira and her clan for emergencies incase he failed
Zira was a follower of Scar and was loyal to him all the way. Even making her son believe he was chosen by scar to be the next king. I think that Scar did not recruit Zira and the other lions because he did not sense evil with all of them, like kovu. Kovu did not want to bring the pride lands down because he was friends with kiara. In order for Scar to really bring them with him, he needed to have all of them to want the same thing. Vitani did not really show any interest in it either. Nuka And zira were perfect candidates, as well as the other lions with them. But with the two youngest not wanting this it probably drove Scar away.

There's one thing I wonder why wasn't Jeremy Irons doing the voice of Scar I would have loved to hear his voice after all these years it was a blast out the pass for me for all of us

I think, maybe one day, you could do a theory/discovering Disney video about Zira's Outlander's. Now, I don't know if anyone recalls, but we see Zira fall (presumably to her death) in the river when the dam exploded. She was too prideful to take Kiara's paw. (Fun fact: my friend is named after Simba's daughter Kiara.)
Before this happens, we see Kiara and Kovu sway the minds and hearts of the Outlanders - including Vitani. (Also, there's a theory Kion is/was not Simba's only son. Some speculate that he had a son before Kiara, but something tragic happened to him. I doubt it's cannon, but I still like the theory.)
Even though we see some Outlanders join Simba's pride, we can't assume all of them turned over a new leaf. What became of Zira? Did she really perish in the river? Or did she miraculously survive? What of Zira's Outlanders that didn't join Simba? Did they try to avenge her?
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, Isaac, even if a video isn't made!
And of course, I'm speaking about AFTER they've grown up. I remember Kiara is still a cub in this Disney Jr series. However, I'm really curious about about Zira and her Outlanders. I can't deny that I also speculate about their whereabouts during this time frame of the Lion King Timeline; there's so much to consider. So many plot holes.
As an author, I have a love/hate relationship with plot holes. It's one thing to leave a small one here or there for fans to create theories, but I also thing authors/creators of shows should consider filling in the plot holes they know the answer to. In reality, all authors/creators know the answers to every plot hole. Even if it's a general one, but we also enjoy fan theories, which is one some are left for speculation.

Maybe Scar does find out about Zira and in a season 3 or end of season 2 they join together to destroy Simba. Scar is defeated by the Lion Guard but then finds Kovu and tells Zira in his dying breaths to raise him to finish his job for him in the war to take over the pridelands and to end Simba, since he isn't noticeably 'the chosen one' when we see him in Season 1.
Not only that, but when Zira fails to defeat Simba, she is banished with the rest of the outlanders, just as Simba mentions in the second Lion King movie.
This would fill in many gaps between the two Lion King movies and be a perfect explanation for many things, including your question in the end of this video.

Actually no, this wouldn't work. Zira mentions Kovu being chosen by scar when she is confronted with Simba and the Lionesses at the early parts of the second Lion King movie. We all know that this has occurred before the Lion Guard and Scar's return. BUT this wouldn't stop a really sinister reunion of Kovu and Scar in a future Lion Guard episode, where Kovu finds training from Scar or some other form of mentoring. Something that would be subtle and not worth mentioning in the second Lion King movie. This might just be a brief confrontation and a few words in exchange while Zira works with Scar and his army. MAYBE she might not join his army as she needs to raise Kovu, either willingly or per Scar's demand?
