    I practised as a chiro for ten years. I must say that having a network of MDs to refer to, including Orthopedic surgeons, neurologists etc was a thing of beauty because as a team the patient got well. I really cannot say how much it helped to have orthos and neurosurgeons to help me with case management especially when I got into med/ legal for the state back in the late 90s

      @@BodilyFunction hes expected to have knowledge on the field of Spine SURGERY not spine manipulation. He works from inside whilst chiropractics work from outside, 2 completely different things and he REPEATEDLY states in his video that he doesnt claim to know anything about chiropractic therefore the "critics" were unfair, rude and misleading themselves. If you want knowledge in the topic go watch a video about a CHIROPRACTIC watching another chiropractic. Those were not constructive criticism they were people annoyed that they were on the wrong video. Do you need to degrade him to tell him to seek more information in a topic? Cause if you do then that's a problem with you not the criticised. Them saying that he was misleading is idiotic, seeing as he clearly stated to not take his word for such topics as he was requested repeatedly to react to these things and so he did.
      I dont mean to sound rude and as if I cant take criticism but idiotic behaviour is NOT criticism.

    • @BodilyFunction
      @BodilyFunction 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@MerdaDeCabelo I’d say me saying their criticism doesn’t make them all haters compared to this reaction is a bit of an overreaction from my point of view. However the one topic I would like to debate with you is wether or not he should have known about chiropractic services. As HE had mentioned in his own video, he always tries everything he can to see if he can help solve or mediate the issue WITHOUT surgery. Which implies that him having knowledge on other services and treatments for spinal issues outside of surgery is also part of his job. For him to have regarded chiropractic medicine as not a real or effective medicine before even looking into it before hand could be called negligence since he says himself that part of his job has to do with referring people with back issues that can be resolved without surgery. I think what he’s doing here is good but to say that the criticism in his first video is unjustified or “idiotic” because he’s a surgeon not chiropractor himself is just misleading and unfair as hell. He’s a professional, he has a large audience that generally look to him as a professional to hear his opinions on things and as a professional to say that another very legitimate profession is fake or doesn’t actually help is incredibly damaging regardless of if he told people not to take his word for it. People don’t seem to understand the kind of effect opinions of those in such specialized and advanced fields can have. He has considerable power whether he wants to or not and he should be more thorough in his research before giving opinions on things in his general field of study since many people will see them as a professional doctors opinion. I will find time stamps where he said multiple times that he tries to refer people out to help the issue WITHOUT surgery which implies he knows what can help with certain spinal ailments without needed specific surgical knowledge.

    • @BodilyFunction
      @BodilyFunction 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      1:39 2:42 8:00 I would also like to add that I don’t think he is bad or evil or has Ill intent. all I think is that the criticisms he received were completely legitimate and that he should do more research in these fields that are closely related to his own field of study before giving his opinion on them. I think this video is a good thing and something I wish more people would do after receiving legitimate non hateful criticisms.

    • @MerdaDeCabelo
      @MerdaDeCabelo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      @@BodilyFunction I would say you have a valid argument, but to put the public audience as people who cant do things for themselves on his back isnt exactly fair. You're expecting him (a person who's definitely really busy) to have extensive research on a subject that has not been brought up to his attention other than youtube comments requesting it. A "criticism" saying that they're questioning his credibility on a subject he deliberately said that he has no credibility on is, put very simply, ignorant. They ignored the fact that he directly addressed his credibility in the subject which should entice YOU the viewer to go look for more credible source. To say that the viewers are just a bunch of followers with no ability to form opinions of their own based on their own research and use that as a reason to degrade someone's image is very simply not fair and again... ignorant of the part of the "critics". You're taking a very malleable piece of information and including it into the equation as a strict factor when it obviously has multiple forms.

    Dr. Webb, as a practicing chiropractor in Florida, I really appreciate this video. Credits to Dr. Yates as well. I believe you are setting a great example for surgeons, neurologist, and other medical disciplines incorporating chiropractic care in a patient's treatment. I would also consider some of the cases that come to your office such as the mild-moderate muscle strain that would not warrant 6-8 weeks of therapy, but would warrant a trial 2-week period of conservative treatment with the use of chiropractic manipulation.
    Thank you again for experiencing chiropractic manipulation. I'm sure you're feeling good once that soreness calms down. Shout out to Dr. Yates!

    I’ve been going to chiropractors for over 30 years. I was told due to a birth defect in my spine I would have to have surgery on it in my late 30’s early 40’s. I’m 51 and haven’t had to resort to surgery. I can’t ride rollercoasters any longer, but that’s about it. I also have issues with my neck from an injury. I now only go every few months just to keep me inline, or if I get a flare up. Over the years of seeing many different chiropractors due to moving around, my best advice in finding one is find one that graduated from Palmer chiropractic school. They are absolutely the best!

A guy named Neil offered to help and had basic chiropractic knowledge. I was already in agony but he stuffed his knee in my back and yanked my shoulders backwards. Loudest crack id ever heard. I was furious at him as I thought he'd broke my back. I stubbornly refused further manipulation. Over the next 3 days my upper back although sore had never felt so mobile, loose and good. In hindsight due to fear, anger and lack of knowledge I turned away from his help which was better than all the physios and doctors seen since. We practice evidence based medicine, in other words we offer treatments that have been proven to work when studied under rigorous scientific protocols. This is not an ideological issue or a school of taught, is about what has been proven to work using the scientific method and what is unproven quackery. Most of the things chiropractors offer have been shown to be not better than a placebo and the things that work are already offered by orthopedists, physiatrists, physical therapists, etc.

    Thank you for being "the patient," doctor.
    I suffer from chronic lower back pain. I have four degenerated discs in my lower back. My spine and shoulder and my neck, are affected badly by it.
    I stopped all of my opiate pain relievers for over a year now. And just tried to stick with getting my nerve shots every 3 months. But with the healthcare situation going the way it is, I haven't had shots for over 7 months though, and this is very painful to have too live with like this.
    I'm 60 yrs. young. ☺️
    I was thinking of going to a chiropractor as well, but I've been afraid to go, because of my fear of a chiropractor. My thoughts of my bones already being out of whack having a chiropractor popping back might even just make them worse. Or permanently messing me up or something worse, yeah I have a real fear of them possibly hurting me even more than I am already. 😔😐🤔
    I've had acupuncture done as well on my back, neck and on my head, and I have used none narcotic pain relievers.
    I'm still in 24/7 pain!!
    But I haven't yet gone to a chiropractor. After seeing you go, and being a spinal surgeon this gives me hope, that maybe it is okay, and I should do this as well. 🤷
    So with the new year coming-- 2022, I'll ask my doctors if I am a candidate for chiropractic services. And I think I might go and see one too, for an adjustment treatment plan for myself.
    But I hope before I go, that you see this message and you can give me some or any words of advice about going.
    Because you are a spinal surgeon and I would love to hear from you.
    By the way I've been under a 'pain specialist'-- care, since 2005 years.
    I also have a spinal cord stimulator implant, which has also had a battery replacement done. But it works and has been working in me since 2012.
    Oooh, I'm from Southern California. 😁
    I really enjoyed Dr Yates, and I hope to find a good doctor like her here where I live, if I go forward with this.
    Thank you in advance for reading this, I hope too hear from you, TY. ✌️😊

Then after talking to him he was like well not actually sure it’s injured but we will know if we go in. Then scoffed when I said I wanted to try physical therapy first. Did 8 months of it for my shoulder and now I can lift and climb and do all sorts of things with no surgery.

I have no problem referring out to surgery, PT, or to their primary when I know it is out of my scope. I respect your education and expertise, but there are so many out there who do not respect ours. I feel tight sometimes (like my hands when I crack them) and the chiropractor would loosen me up. That was the extent of the benefits. If I had to pay for it I'd probably skip it. I have friends who are chiropractors and I think that a lot more doctors are starting to understand the value of chiropractic care. As well as other holistic type healing practices. I think it’s really good that you were able to go in and experience what a chiropractor does because I think both of you working together can create a better experience for the patient and especially if a person can avoid surgery at least for the time being it will increase the patients well-being and can possibly stave off surgery. I’ve had surgery on my back and wish I would’ve known about possible chiropractic or other holistic type methods to see if it could at least extend the time before my surgery or even possibly save me from it. Not only can it keep from the long-term pain after surgery but the cost of surgery can sometimes be very expensive. I have a lot of respect for both spinal surgeons and chiropractors.
