Go for large EVA foam gym mats, best surface I've found so far.
Have you seen the new 2024 Turbo Racing version? They have longer wheel base. Seems like an almost perfect fit for hot wheels shell

Faster to reply you now.
Open up the chassis and you will see the bushings. Its a offset rectangular bushing. Just flip it over using tweezers and place them back in position. It should add another 1mm wheelbase.
