  • After eight years of working on this M37 I am finally able to register it and drive it on the road. The truck has been running for a few years now but just hasn't been road worthy, until now.
As I pull into the Home Depot parking lot the things start shaking like crazy. Not sure what happened to the footage from that part, but the drive shaft had come unbolted from the yoke on the transfer case and was holding on be some threads! I'm lucky I didn't drop it. Few new bolts and problem solved.

At that speed with the front end locked is torture to the transfercase

A hint for shifting gears, always double clutch your downshift, and be sure to pause in neutral momentarily when upshifting. The old time transmission has widely spaced gear ratios, and they gobble up synchros quickly if you rush things. M37 was my first truck, I am on number 3 now. My second one was a daily driver for 16 years. 🙂

One of the best videos of an M37 I've seen. Short of being in one, this feels just like the real thing and the dashboard and tilting front windows look awesome.
Luckily, you don't have a mirror that'd let you see the queue of cars piling up behind. That would spoil all the fun!
I'm as green with envy as the tractor in the garage. It's near impossible to get one of these things registered over here - unless you make it sth. like your life's mission.
I love the bare chassis back too. If I had one, I'd love to drive it like that. Not a dragster, but hey, who needs one. Added bonus: if someone steels it, well, they can't really go that far with it, can they?

the steering on these trks is a little stiff but you add power steering some less than $ 500.00 SNAKE RIVER IN IDAHO had a kit i guess they still have every thing you need for that steering

Not knowing what a Castellated nut is was the reason you lost the bolts.
