For me, too close to call. Keep in mind the Gibson has had 66 years to mature and sweeten. I have the same v100 and it is a joy to play. In 66 years it will sound as sweet as Gibson. Now I just have to survive to 126 ,to verify this. Great video, as always.
Right but all a competitor has to do is buy Gibson. take it apart and see how it's made and then go for it.Sort of unfair but then again. Who said life was fair. We the consumer win.
@@monmixer The thing is, Gibson are not going to lose a sale to Vintage because on the whole, the Vintage customer would probably not be able to afford the Gibson in the first place, for example, myself (I have owned four Gibson's but can not afford them any more). So in my opinion, Gibson are not losing out, as they are priced out of many players ability to pay for one.
@@markfahey3921 I can promise you that a lot of guitarists that can afford a Gibson are not drawn to them. Price is normally the issue but far from always. I am really seeing a lot more Fenders in hands of younger players. I'm sure Gibson won't be going out of business any time soon.
Yah but it's not an acoustic guitar where the wood actually means something. In a solidbody, plugged in electric guitar its influence on tone is negligible
I think this is a great testimony to just how good Trevor Wilkinson's gear is, especially when you consider the difference in price. A set of Gibson pups - around £180, a set of Wilkinson pups - around £35. Was the Gibson tone better?....yeah, maybe a bit but 5x better? Not a chance!

The difference of "clarity, richness - more ring on the note" is because the Vintage V100 GT has stacked ceramic P90´s (HB´s) and the Gibson 52´ has P90´s Alnico single coil degaussed for the years, that´s the difference, put those Alnico P90´s on the Vintage V100GT, and the "clarity - richness - ring on the note" will appear immediately .-
I agree. Unbelievable I'm a Gibson fan and I must admit. That vintage v100gt p90 guitar sounded absolutely unbelievably close to the 1952 gold top Gibson. So impressed I just bought one.
My favorite band when I was a kid in the '70's was ELO, and Jeff Lynne had a Les Paul Goldtop with P90's. I used to have a Gibson LP Gothic that I wanted to paint gold, but I never did. I eventually sold that guitar. I now have a Vintage V100 Icon in tobacco sunburst and I like it a lot.
I know this video has been up for quite some time but I just wanted to thank you for the thoughtful comparison and to say that you helped me in my decision to purchase the V100GT. I just received it a couple of days ago and instantly said the same thing I have said with every Vintage brand guitar I've purchased...much nicer than I expected! Really enjoy your videos Dave!
The thing I love best about your videos is you show how ridiculous it is to buy a crazy expensive guitar. I always thought your Mexican strats sounded awesome. Even your older videos where you play old 60's pre cbs strats that cost an arm and a leg, they don't ever really sound that much better. Goes to show it's all in your technique and talent. Thats a really good point. Old guitars are expensive because of the rarity and bragging rights that come with them, they don't neccesarily sound or play any better than modern guitars. Stick a set of great pickips in a Mexican Fender and it will sound as good as a Custom Shop or vintage guitar
Tomorrow I will be a happy owner of a V100 Reissued GT...there is many videos like this one that did me consider to buy a Vintage Guitars... $430 it's a lot of money for me who is a more of a beginner-intermediate, who happens to love both the look and sound of vintage guitars (not only the BRAND), older guitar look so lovely . This is a lot harder than most people would like to admit. I've tried to do some pedal shootouts and when you stand in the room playing you hear and feel tons of differences. When you come home listening to the recordings and you can still hear the differences but it's a bit harder. Then you throw it on TH-cam and now there's almost no difference. What's hard to transfer to TH-cam is how our gear affects us when we play them :) On this recording the vintage does a very good job indeed :)
They sound too similar for most people to give the amount of money for a Gibson when they can get a very similar guitar for a much better deal. I'm now looking into these.
I agree with you Dave. By the end of the strumming I had decided the Vintage was a tiny bit more trebly, but not much. They were really close. In the single note test you could hear the trebly sound and slight compression in the Vintage more clearly. But as you say, for the price the Vintage comes scarily close to the 52.
The sound was very close, and I think it could be a situation where we hear with our eyes. That being said, something we can always use is the way it feels to play them both, AND how you play when you are playing based on the feel. The Gibson definitely sounded better,as you said a richer tone. But for the price and some upgraded pickups you can't go wrong with the vintage , and if you snap a headstock it won't hurt as much . Just recently started watching your channel, dude you're an outstanding player, cheers !!
Well I couldn't hear any significant difference at all, that said all guitars have their own character. Maybe the pickup magnets in the 1952 Gibsons have de-gaused a bit over the years so allowing a bit more treble to come through compared with the much younger Vintage LP but I'm still not sure? In a blind test I doubt the majority could tell the difference, I know I couldn't! Thanks Dave, this was interesting to see and hear. Best wishes..
I have the gold top vintage also and I gotta say, I would use it over a Gibson, although I love Gibson but to me they are over priced because most Gibson Les Paul's never stay in tune unless you modify them..and just my opinion but if I'm gonna spend $2000+ on a guitar it should be perfect in every way. ...any way great video I really enjoyed it
great video! I bought a Goldtop copy , made by Austin. Paid new $189. One of the best guitars I own..better than some of my high end thousand dollar axes. I ended up selling them. Austin AS656GT I believe its called. I may put a Seymour Duncan P90 just for kicks in the bridge. Cant go wrong on some of these modern day Goldtop P90 copies, I believe.
so close its tough to call the vintage is a touch more fresh/crisp maybe,...the GIbby a bit more creamy.. that is about it..... I rewatched 3x still can't feel any other difference.. its like coffee with milk or cream... coffee w/ milk works great, but real cream is richer and a touch more satisfying,.. but the Gibby doesn't seem to be 90% more creamy and rich,.... which is about the price difference... lol just incredible! Great video thank you. Now i really cant wait it get my V100GT !
Yes, V100 Vintage is FANTASTIC REALLY, but you just watch the darn price go up on the Vintage LP's, I was blown away with the one I got, love it!!!!! When folks realize that these Vintage guitars are tops, prices will obviously go up. Mind you, the Epiphone L.P. does not come close, the Vintage is much much better!!! In my opinion... Great job as ALWAYS Dave S.
For some people £300 is a lot of money to spend on a guitar, but does not mean not good quality. If a £300 vintage is very close sounding to an original thats good enough for me 🤘🤘
The Gibson sounded a little more rounded over the Vintage for me through headphones, but not by as much as you would have thought. Great comparison video Dave.
The different tail pieces should probably make quite a bit of difference, but as you say, the differences are not as marked as might be expected. Different examples of the same model from the same manufacturer can sound more different than that eg I have a Tele that I bought new and tried it against three other supposedly identical instruments in the shop, and the one I finally bought really sang, compared to the others.
60 some years difference in pickups. I heard higher output on the Vintage, with more mids, and highs, making the Gibson appear warmer. They are just what they are, 2 different guitars as they all are. Thank you for the video!
I agree with you regarding the differences between the two. Strumming was very close however the Gibson sang nicer on the lead parts with much more sustain. I'd imagine that at gig volume the Gibson would shine even more but Vintage should be very proud to have produced a stunning copy very accurately in tone for a very small fraction of the price. Vintage is more trebly because it mounts ceramic pickups while the Gibson mounts almost 70 years-old Alnico pickups. I own one Vintage on which I have mounted Seymour Duncan P90 Vintage and I can assure that they could sound REALLY similar...
If you are living out in the country then you'd have the chances to turn up your awesome amplifiers. Gibson slightly nicer. But ridiculously close. With electrics, its about the pups, not the wood, even though people go on about tonewoods etc. It applies more to acoustics.
wrong. the wood is everything...you get some great wood ONLY THEN DO PICKUPS MATTER...shitty wood I put original PAFS on my 2000 les paul standard it was just avg. its the guitar in its entirety! the pickups are like 20 %

Yes, you may be correct. Otherwise Dan Armstrong would be an esteemed maker. Even after being slung by Keith Richard, they are not a 'chosen' guitar these days.
I have the Vintage. The P90s in these are actually stacked and ceramic, so quite a bit different from the older alnico P90s in the Gibson. Prefer the latter in in this clip - more soulful and deep, particularly on the single notes. Changing the pickups or magnets in the Vintage to alnico 2 could be the answer!
Better mids on the Vintage. Better low end on the Gibson. It depends on the style of music you play, but I prefer the Vintage. I think it's more versatile.
A very instructive video, I must admit. Once, I could check, on some Internet site, that Buddy Holly had one of those Gibson Les Pauls, supposedly, before he achieved his massive success; apparently, he would have sold it, for it was a too heavy instrument. Later on, the Tuno-matic Bridges and the Humbuckers pick ups would be implemented in the Gibson Les Pauls. Nowadays, and after watching this video, my conclusion is, if I could not have both things at the same time, what would I prefer to have, an outrageously expensive instrument that might be, for sure, an investment and that would do a great job, for its sound but, that would draw the attention of potential thieves if I want to use it for playing gigs or, a not so expensive instrument that, for its sound, might do the same job as the first one, that would not draw the attention of thieves that much but, that would not be able to be revalued, at the same level, with the passage of time? There is a video, on this same channel, that I would suggest watching, it is a live performance by Wes Montgomery, and between a number and the next one, you may listen to the conversation that, Wes Montgomery and the piano player are having, Montgomery says that, his guitar is not usually perfectly in tune, and for me it is interesting to find out how such an expensive guitar (like Montgomery's Gibson) is not usually in tune, especially because I found, apart of a superb fat sound, the same problem with other Gibson models... Fantastic guitars anyway!!!...
Unbelievable close i agree with Youri reaction completely In the clean solo part iT is a little bit thinner than the gibson. But who Play clean solo,s on a humbucker guitar . :) with a tube screamer and you give the effect a little bit more output i bet you can,t hear the difference at all. Thx for the video . Gibson sounds a tad more "mellow". Vintage "brighter", especially in the bridge pickup, and when soloing (almost edging toward Tele territory). I have the Vintage, and bang for buck it is ridiculously good. Now I no longer play live, and don't bother about image, I do all my recording on the Vintage!
Really close. I'd buy the Vintage, so much great gear out there now at really low prices. Unless you're a pro guitarist or rich how do you justify the extra spend.
dave i got a 2017 V100GT and it hummed severely in bridge or neck position...i mean unacceptable level almost like when you touch the lead on your guitar cord befoe plugging it in..i ended up rewiring the coils in each pickup to be a humbucker(one coil is reverse of the other) so now it haedly hums at all...but does your hum loudly?

I think we'd all love to say the Gibson sounded better but I think the vintage sounded better, there was more clarity to the vintage, the Gibson sounded a bit too muddy to me. It does make sense, people think the Gibsons made in the 50's are better but they are just other Gibsons when the quality control was not as good so there were amazing Gibsons and there were poor ones, The fact of the matter is a Gibson from the 50's are just another Gibson the difference being they've aged 60 years.
I think the Gibson does this strange thin and tick at the same sound, I can't really describe it better, which is really great. The Vintage does it too but not so much. Your other sunburst Vintage does this too, more so than the Goldtop
Great comparison - I reckon the Vintage would sound closer with slightly more resonant/darker/different P90s. The Vintage was a little less "woody", maybe a bit more sustain with the Gibbo. Not bad for 1% of the price :-)
I think the Gibson shaved it but, as you say, there's not a lot in it. Which is remarkable, when you think of the difference in price! As someone mentioned on here, the pups in the Vintage are stacked P90's, (effectively humbuckers) which could account for the slight tonal difference? I've had several Vintage Les Pauls and they've all been absolutely excellent! Currently got the iced tea, the wine red with mini humbuckers and the gold top with P90s. It was your video of your other Vintage gold top that convinced me to get one! Is there much difference between the Vintage gold top that you had before and this new one with the curved heel? I'm sure you had an original Vintage V100GT with the classic neck joint, a while ago...you blacked out the pattern on the headstock, put speed knobs on and removed the switch ring. Or am I going mad??? It was that review that persuaded me to get mine!
Hmmm... The sound on TH-cam is compressed, but with a good headphone you still get more breathing in the music with the Gibson, by far: this ability to be thick and thin is about harmonics, ultimately the wood evolves more in harmony with the notes after years of playing. You can actually check it when you tune up an old guitar, suddenly there is a sweet spot and there it is. So, in a way, I encourage you Dave to keep playing the Vintage (the name is sooo ironic) for 50 years and let's hear again! It interesting you actually felt the Vintage is close. Well, in the end they didn't invest a penny in R&D if you see what I mean. Means to execute consistently have improved. Great time for guitarists!
+Bad Motivator The Gibson has a big bass ball bat neck where as the vintage has a thinner 60s style neck. Other than that they feel very similar. Well. At least to me. :)
Gibson definitely has more depth, sustain ring and note bloom, as you would expect, however the Vintage comes close and does a terrific job emulating that sound. Vintage are fantastic guitars and for the price - no brainer. Thanks for the vid Dave.
I preferred the Gibson for the rhythm parts, not that it was much better, just personal preference in what i look for in tone. But i thought the Vintage sounded beautiful for the lead parts. Actually i was only looking at the video for the rhythm playing and liked the Gibson, went across the room to get something, come back during the lead parts and thought it sounded great, and was surprised to see it was the Vintage. There was a slight tonal difference overall in which i preferred the Gibson rhythmically but really it would have been possible to almost match it completely with a bit of tweaking of the EQ. Also, when in the context of a full song, would anybody really know which is which? i doubt it.
The Vintage brand Les Pauls are really good...apart from ...the pots..caps..wiring.. switch..and jack..gave mine a massive upgrade and some seymour Duncan's...the other thing is the fret wire won't last probably
Bridge pickups were very close to me, Gibson had a better neck pickup, "particularly on the neck pick up strumming." Gibson had a clearer and slightly acoustic guitar sound on that pickup. Small single note passage there is a difference but some might prefer vintage, some gibson. Vintage is slightly darker but some would prefer that. Cheers for the comparison :)

Recording like this isn't providing a detailed audition but yeah, the Gibson has more low mid and some extra harmonics but on stage most of it would be eq-ed out. Impressive, i'll get a vintahe soon😏
.... for me... there is a difference and if you able to make the right sound you can show it ... not a bad guitar... the Vintage Wilkinson.... and it makes a lot of fun to play on... but the same is on the old Gibson.... if I had both.. I'll keep both if I have to choose... I take the Gibson
The 52 probably sounds darker because the capacitor was PIO and has calcified with age which has turned it in to (effectively) a resistor. Of course nobody is ever going to change that component out ... hehe.
Pickups play the biggest tonality difference, I could hear a difference in that the Vintage was hotter, I prefer the warmer Gibson style pick ups personally as I generally like to play with a Jazzy blues clean tone, or have the gain up just before it breaks up. Change the pick ups around on these two would be interesting. How do they feel to you both? If they feel very similar, the Vintage is a winner. Thanks for the Demo!

I have the gold top vintage also and I gotta say, I would use it over a Gibson, although I love Gibson but to me they are over priced because most Gibson Les Paul's never stay in tune unless you modify them..and just my opinion but if I'm gonna spend $2000+ on a guitar it should be perfect in every way. ...any way great video I really enjoyed it

great video! I bought a Goldtop copy , made by Austin. Paid new $189. One of the best guitars I own..better than some of my high end thousand dollar axes. I ended up selling them. Austin AS656GT I believe its called. I may put a Seymour Duncan P90 just for kicks in the bridge. Cant go wrong on some of these modern day Goldtop P90 copies, I believe.
In a blind test no one could tell which is which. Both sound good, on stage playing through a board, no difference.
so close its tough to call the vintage is a touch more fresh/crisp maybe,...the GIbby a bit more creamy.. that is about it.....
I rewatched 3x still can't feel any other difference.. its like coffee with milk or cream... coffee w/ milk works great, but real cream is richer and a touch more satisfying,.. but the Gibby doesn't seem to be 90% more creamy and rich,.... which is about the price difference... lol just incredible!

Yes, V100 Vintage is FANTASTIC REALLY, but you just watch the darn price go up on the Vintage LP's, I was blown away with the one I got, love it!!!!! When folks realize that these Vintage guitars are tops, prices will obviously go up. Mind you, the Epiphone L.P. does not come close, the Vintage is much much better!!! In my opinion... For some people £300 is a lot of money to spend on a guitar, but does not mean not good quality. If a £300 vintage is very close sounding to an original thats good enough for me 🤘🤘
The Gibson sounded a little more rounded over the Vintage for me through headphones, but not by as much as you would have thought. Great comparison video Dave.

The different tail pieces should probably make quite a bit of difference, but as you say, the differences are not as marked as might be expected. Different examples of the same model from the same manufacturer can sound more different than that eg I have a Tele that I bought new and tried it against three other supposedly identical instruments in the shop, and the one I finally bought really sang, compared to the others.
60 some years difference in pickups. I heard higher output on the Vintage, with more mids, and highs, making the Gibson appear warmer. They are just what they are, 2 different guitars as they all are. Thank you for the video!

I agree with you regarding the differences between the two. Strumming was very close however the Gibson sang nicer on the lead parts with much more sustain. I'd imagine that at gig volume the Gibson would shine even more but Vintage should be very proud to have produced a stunning copy very accurately in tone for a very small fraction of the price. Vintage is more trebly because it mounts ceramic pickups while the Gibson mounts almost 70 years-old Alnico pickups. I own one Vintage on which I have mounted Seymour Duncan P90 Vintage and I can assure that they could sound REALLY similar...
I have gibsons. I can tell you the difference between my Gibsons and the difference is inaudible. The three v100s and I love them every bit as much.
The rythm was pretty much the same to me, but the lead I liked the Gibson better, it was a little more jimmy page than the vintage

Gibson slightly nicer. But ridiculously close. With electrics, its about the pups, not the wood, even though people go on about tonewoods etc. It applies more
to acoustics.

You're right Dave, Gibson sound more round but Vintage very close to Gibson, very, very close mate.
I have the Vintage. The P90s in these are actually stacked and ceramic, so quite a bit different from the older alnico P90s in the Gibson. Prefer the latter in in this clip - more soulful and deep, particularly on the single notes. Changing the pickups or magnets in the Vintage to alnico 2 could be the answer!
Just bought a V100 with not a mark on it for £135, including delivery. Plays better then my Gretsch Jet. If you see a decent one... buy it!
Better mids on the Vintage. Better low end on the Gibson. It depends on the style of music you play, but I prefer the Vintage. I think it's more versatile.

A very instructive video, I must admit.
Once, I could check, on some Internet site, that Buddy Holly had one of those Gibson Les Pauls, supposedly, before he achieved his massive success; apparently, he would have sold it, for it was a too heavy instrument. Later on, the Tuno-matic Bridges and the Humbuckers pick ups would be implemented in the Gibson Les Pauls.
Nowadays, and after watching this video, my conclusion is, if I could not have both things at the same time, what would I prefer to have, an outrageously expensive instrument that might be, for sure, an investment and that would do a great job, for its sound but, that would draw the attention of potential thieves if I want to use it for playing gigs or, a not so expensive instrument that, for its sound, might do the same job as the first one, that would not draw the attention of thieves that much but, that would not be able to be revalued, at the same level, with the passage of time?
There is a video, on this same channel, that I would suggest watching, it is a live performance by Wes Montgomery, and between a number and the next one, you may listen to the conversation that, Wes Montgomery and the piano player are having, Montgomery says that, his guitar is not usually perfectly in tune, and for me it is interesting to find out how such an expensive guitar (like Montgomery's Gibson) is not usually in tune, especially because I found, apart of a superb fat sound, the same problem with other Gibson models...

Unbelievable close i agree with Youri reaction completely In the clean solo part iT is a little bit thinner than the gibson. But who Play clean solo,s on a humbucker guitar . :) with a tube screamer and you give the effect a little bit more output i bet you can,t hear the difference at all. Thx for the video . Gibson sounded like the Vintage, but with old strings.
Gibson sounds a tad more "mellow". Vintage "brighter", especially in the bridge pickup, and when soloing (almost edging toward Tele territory). I have the Vintage, and bang for buck it is ridiculously good. Now I no longer play live, and don't bother about image, I do all my recording on the Vintage!
Dave, was the Gibson's body a bit bigger than the V100? (like the slightly bigger Signature Vintage V100mu)
It looks it due to the vintages neck carve but there the same size. I know what you mean though. :)
I have the V100GT, the V100PG and a V6 Icon. They are all great guitars, but for me the GT pickups were the let down, they got changed to Gotoh P90s.
Really close. I'd buy the Vintage, so much great gear out there now at really low prices. Unless you're a pro guitarist or rich how do you justify the extra spend.
dave i got a 2017 V100GT and it hummed severely in bridge or neck position...i mean unacceptable level almost like when you touch the lead on your guitar cord befoe plugging it in..i ended up rewiring the coils in each pickup to be a humbucker(one coil is reverse of the other) so now it haedly hums at all...but does your hum loudly?

A few years late, Dave, but if you read this can you tell me about the two neck profiles of the guitars?
No probs. The 52 is fairly fat. A lot of bulk to it where as the vintage is thin. Both are c shaped and very comfy. : )
Like the Gibson, I arrived in 1952. Unlike the Gibson, I didn't start out fairly fat. Can't say the same now, however.

I think we'd all love to say the Gibson sounded better but I think the vintage sounded better, there was more clarity to the vintage, the Gibson sounded a bit too muddy to me. It does make sense, people think the Gibsons made in the 50's are better but they are just other Gibsons when the quality control was not as good so there were amazing Gibsons and there were poor ones, The fact of the matter is a Gibson from the 50's are just another Gibson the difference being they've aged 60 years.
I think the Gibson does this strange thin and tick at the same sound, I can't really describe it better, which is really great. The Vintage does it too but not so much.
Your other sunburst Vintage does this too, more so than the Goldtop

Great comparison - I reckon the Vintage would sound closer with slightly more resonant/darker/different P90s. The Vintage was a little less "woody", maybe a bit more sustain with the Gibbo. Not bad for 1% of the price :-)

I think the Gibson shaved it but, as you say, there's not a lot in it. Which is remarkable, when you think of the difference in price! As someone mentioned on here, the pups in the Vintage are stacked P90's, (effectively humbuckers) which could account for the slight tonal difference?
I've had several Vintage Les Pauls and they've all been absolutely excellent! Currently got the iced tea, the wine red with mini humbuckers and the gold top with P90s. It was your video of your other Vintage gold top that convinced me to get one!
Is there much difference between the Vintage gold top that you had before and this new one with the curved heel? All mine have the original neck joint.

I'm sure you had an original Vintage V100GT with the classic neck joint, a while ago...you blacked out the pattern on the headstock, put speed knobs on and removed the switch ring. Or am I going mad??? It was that review that persuaded me to get mine!

Hmmm... The sound on TH-cam is compressed, but with a good headphone you still get more breathing in the music with the Gibson, by far: this ability to be thick and thin is about harmonics, ultimately the wood evolves more in harmony with the notes after years of playing. You can actually check it when you tune up an old guitar, suddenly there is a sweet spot and there it is. So, in a way, I encourage you Dave to keep playing the Vintage (the name is sooo ironic) for 50 years and let's hear again! It interesting you actually felt the Vintage is close. Well, in the end they didn't invest a penny in R&D if you see what I mean. Means to execute consistently have improved. Great time for guitarists!

Gibson definitely has more depth, sustain ring and note bloom, as you would expect, however the Vintage comes close and does a terrific job emulating that sound. Vintage are fantastic guitars and for the price - no brainer. Thanks for the vid Dave.

I preferred the Gibson for the rhythm parts, not that it was much better, just personal preference in what i look for in tone. But i thought the Vintage sounded beautiful for the lead parts. Actually i was only looking at the video for the rhythm playing and liked the Gibson, went across the room to get something, come back during the lead parts and thought it sounded great, and was surprised to see it was the Vintage. There was a slight tonal difference overall in which i preferred the Gibson rhythmically but really it would have been possible to almost match it completely with a bit of tweaking of the EQ. Also, when in the context of a full song, would anybody really know which is which? i doubt it.
The Vintage brand Les Pauls are really good...apart from ...the pots..caps..wiring.. switch..and jack..gave mine a massive upgrade and some seymour Duncan's...the other thing is the fret wire won't last probably
The old is crispy, new is creamy.
I think the difference could be made up with pots and capacitors, but the voicing could be made up with the tone knob or amp EQ.
Bridge pickups were very close to me, Gibson had a better neck pickup, "particularly on the neck pick up strumming."
Gibson had a clearer and slightly acoustic guitar sound on that pickup. Small single note passage there is a difference but some might prefer vintage, some gibson. Vintage is slightly darker but some would prefer that. Cheers for the comparison :)

Recording like this isn't providing a detailed audition but yeah, the Gibson has more low mid and some extra harmonics but on stage most of it would be eq-ed out. Impressive, i'll get a vintahe soon😏

It's the vintage for me..
The 52 probably sounds darker because the capacitor was PIO and has calcified with age which has turned it in to (effectively) a resistor. Of course nobody is ever going to change that component out ... hehe.
Pickups play the biggest tonality difference, I could hear a difference in that the Vintage was hotter, I prefer the warmer Gibson style pick ups personally as I generally like to play with a Jazzy blues clean tone, or have the gain up just before it breaks up. Change the pick ups around on these two would be interesting. How do they feel to you both? If they feel very similar, the Vintage is a winner. Thanks for the Demo!
