    Can you recommend a pid with a timer that's 240V and 30A? I have to power a 5500W element.

PID module typically cannot drive 30A load directly. Other than the PID module, you need other parts to build a control system to drive your 30A load, such as SSR, heat sink, etc. For oven application, SWA-2451B PID module with timer is recommended. For water application, you can check our EZboil products such as DSPR120. We also offer some control panel/DIY kits. Please check our website: auberins.com

@Auber Instruments Official thanks for the reply. I have all of that stuff hooked into a system now with a competitors PID. I would like to replace the PID with something that would keep my sterilizer at 250 degrees for 24 hrs and turn off the output automatically. I have two boxes with an SRR, heat sink, cooling fan, and PID. Both are 240v 30amp and power a 5500W element each. Would the DSPR120 be a good fit for me?

@@jeremysavitt4211 For sterilizer, SWA-2451B is recommended. DSPR120 typically needs to read the water temperature to control the power to the heater. For your application, you need to read the steam temp instead of water temp. We also offer one control panel for mushroom sterilizer (MS100). It uses SWA-2451B PID controller with timer. The default timer mode (INT = 1) is, timer will be started when it reaches your target temperature. After timer is up, it will stop the output. You can set timer to be 1440 mins (24 hrs).

We just installed this on a heat treat oven. I can't get it to come up to heat on it's on unless I use the timer and it time out before hitting the correct temp. Can do it manually but it just keeps going past the needed temp.

For your first question, it is related to your timer settings. If you don't use timer function, you can disable its timer function by setting int to 0. Then this controller will work like a standard PID controller without timer. For your second question, I'm not sure if this issue is due to your PID or due to your relay/SSR. For the PID issue, you can probably try ON/OFF mode and see how it works. You need to set P to 0 and adjust Hy accordingly. It could be easy for you to contact Auber support directly for help.
